Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has an entry for Dramatic Irony stating that viewers who know a character's true identity from the source work will not be surprised by the reveal in this adaptation. Do we have a better trope for handling foreknowledge when watching an adaptation?

Genius Bonus? There are some entries on that page (such as The Lord of the Rings) that are prefaced on the viewer being familiar with the work's source material instead of some unrelated field.

I would say that Dramatic Irony applies if the scenes are written with that knowledge in mind, and it's as such intentional. Scenes can work both for those who know and those who don't.

Continuity Lockout is when that knowledge is required to understand the story.

I don't think Genius Bonus applies to knowing previous entries or work mythology. It's about general scholastic knowledge.

Mythology Gag could apply, depending on how it's set up.
