So,the SUMC. The sumc or the soomk.
At least it’s not the Sony Character Universe of Marvel. Or the Character Universe of- *shot*

All I want is Anya Corazon...
Well, at least we have a place to talk about this shared universe without bumping the Venom thread.
I'm still immensely skeptical that the SUMC is going to go too well beyond Venom.
Yeah, everyone knows Venom as Spider-Man's evil twin brother (oversimplifying it, I'm aware), but how many would know Morbius the Living Vampire?
Has Morbius been in anything recently? He apparently appeared in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, but USM stopped production for some time now...
Are they talking about the live action one? I am on board for an animated one but I really don't want of need an extension to venom.
Yes, I'm talking about that Morbius movie with Jared Leto.
Bump.
CNBC: Can a Spider-Man Cinematic Universe work without Spider-Man himself?
I honestly think this is Sony veering ever so closely to shooting itself in the foot. The MCU manages to score with audience AND critics while Sony's efforts get jeered by critics because their execution isn't on the same level as the MCU.
Again, Venom got away despite critics dissing the generic supporting cast and plot because audiences were all "oh wow that venom look great. Is Spidey in dis? Maybe that is spoiler. I go pay money to see if Spidey make cameo"
Getting butts onto the seats of your movie should be half the battle, not all the battle.
But I digress.

I think that Sony will think twice before yanking Spider-Man away from the MCU. So far, they have only won with the deal, and with Into the Spider-verse being such a success, they finally might get the idea to create an animated universe and do stand-alone movies for the live action segment. this way they can have their cake and eat it to: Getting a piece from the highly successful MCU, having an universe of their own and giving the people who keep moaning about "why does everything need to be connected" what they want, too.
I am unofficially pronouncing it "The Shmuck".

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.They most likely would have gone with Spiderverse if it wasn't the name of a highly popular and successful film already, so they went for the next feasible thing.
It would be weird to call it Spider-verse if Spider-Man is most likely not even in it....
> licensed Spider-Man projects
They should have just called it the Web or something

Internet web of spider men
New theme music also a boxMarvel Tales. Hey, it WAS the name of a Spider-Man comic (albiet a reprint one, but they did have new Spider-Ham stories for a time in the late 80s as well).
Another first look at Morbius.
Yeah, how many anti-heroes in dark clothes and hood have we seen now? Because this honestly feels boring.
It's Arad. He likes his 90's brooding.
"jaredleto Because no one else will walk this path...this place of shadows, where we do what must be done, no matter the cost. #MORBIUS"
Omfg I cannot take this kind of stuff seriously anymore. At first I thought this was someone making fun of the movie, but no it's the least actor promoting it

Well, based on Venom, there is an audience for this kind of BS....
Wait, Jared Leto is gonna be Morbius?
Well, I've already not cared about this movie, now I'm going to actively avoid it.
Bite my shiny metal ass.Only a matter of time until he starts sniffing the necks of his co-stars.
The 90's called. They want their emo back.

Yes, that is the official name for Sony's big initiative for it's licensed Spider-Man projects
