OK, here's where this thread is standing, with the unlocking:
Given the widespread backlash and complaining about certain aspects of the work (i.e. Dexit), we wanted to communicate very clearly what we are not willing to put up with: prolonged, circular complaining (or wonking).
Of course, with a controversial subject that has a large impact on the gameplay, Dexit is in one of those areas where there it may be on-topic to discuss it, but the nature of that discussion can wildly vary. As has been said elsewhere, we ix-nayed discussion of Dexit entirely because it never seemed to happen without devolving into that kind of complaining.
However, we're willing to unlock the thread after this 3-day cooldown period because the Pokemon General thread has been stable enough. And -
Can I discuss Dexit?
Yes. But if there is prolonged wonking on it, the thread just becomes an echo chamber of complaints and we do not like that. No one likes that. The same rules as ever apply. Be a constructive, healthy space. Have conversations about what you like, and what you don't like, but the thread should not get locked into a series of bitter complaints.
If you have questions or concerns about mod implementation or action, we have a thread for that here.
Alright? Thank you all for waiting this out. I hope we're all good now.

Joe Merrick's site traffic was through the roof yesterday and I imagine it did exactly what they set out to do with it, strumming up interest and talk about a whole lot of nothing, so more gimmicky "reveals" like this might happen in the future.
Website message:
Thanks for the help!
So presumably we'll be getting formal announcements of the new stuff at some point in the future
Thing to note with the two Galarian Ponyta is that one of them doesn't have a tail. So gender differences are back?
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru!Ok, my sardonic and cynical ass found this extremely cute
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.My little ponyta, my little ponyta...
Really dig it. Looks like Unicorn Celestia.
Yeah, that final bit with the Ponytas was really cute. <3
Also, that final sound hinting at Rapidash... Maybe we'll get a formal reveal soon?
... And that's called jazz!I hope Galarian Rapidash is majestic but also creepy. Like a skeletal alicorn would be sick.
It's been 3000 years…So, how likely are they going to be Fire/Fairy.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I think they're probably pure fairy. Maybe fairy/ghost
They don't seem very fiery.
Yeah, the glowing mane kinda shows that's not really fiery - but it is quite fairy. And we have had regional variants that completely changed a Pokémon's type before, so who knows? Maybe it's a pure Fairy or it has Ghost for a secondary type.
However, if Galarian Rapidash turns out to be a pegasus (it's more Greeky, but Kalos has luchadores, so...), it could be a Flying-type.
... And that's called jazz!Fire/Fairy would be an interesting typing. Offensively very powerful with some good resistances for switching in. With some bulk and/or speed, this could be a relevant mon.
Galarian Ponyta looks like a kelpie, and kelpies are water spirits who can shapeshift between a horse and human form.
Galarian Ponyta will likely be Water/Fairy.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."...that would actually be really cool. But Galarian Ponyta seems to have a horn, and the Scotland unicorn thing seems more likely to me.
Rapidash's base has 100 in Attack and 105 in Speed, so the Galar variant should be close assuming they don't change too much.

‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’Assuming it is a ponyta to begin with.
It looks drastically different from ponyta. I suspect a new pokemon that is closely related to the ponyta line.
I want 50. I want to raise them in a petting Zoo, I'm squeeing so hard.
Watch Symphogearit looks more similar to a ponyta than alolan exeggutor compared to its original
edit: and yknow their cry being the ponyta cry kind of gives it away

"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaNot really. Alolan Exeggutor is literally Exeggutor with a neck (and tail).
The proportion of this new pony are much more cartoony than the naturalistic proportions of a ponyta, with a bigger head in relation to the body (shape is different too), bigger eyes and ears. Also the horn, which doesn't grow until ponyta evolves.
It probably IS a regional variant, but it's a rather different than the Kanto mon.
I think the changes make sense if it is indeed a Fairy type.
Oh God! Natural light! That generally falls in line with the series' current design philosophy of rounder and simpler designs.
That and as said, its cry is the exact same as Ponya's.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.If anyone here is still confused about the whole Gym thing, it seems the Pokemon Company gave a statement explaining exactly what's in the game. tldr: There's only 8 Gyms and the rest only exist in the background.
Over the course of the main story, Trainers will challenge eight Gyms, which are all in the Major League. Which Gyms appear in the Major League and Minor League will differ between Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. For example, depending on the version of the game, Trainers will be able to challenge different Gym Leaders, such as Bea or Allister.
Each version will have eight Gyms and eight Gym Leaders that Trainers can battle for a traditional Gym Challenge experience that fans have enjoyed throughout the Pokémon video game series.
Those two Galar!Ponyta are cute indeed.
I do wonder what Galar!Gallop will be like.
I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person. This feels weird; what's the point of mentioning 18 gyms if only 8 of them are relevant?
