Caitlin's admittedly surprised to see the troll boy from the day before. However, it's not an unpleasant surprise. Without much hesitation, she smiles and says "It's good seeing you again, kid. Thanks for saving me earlier."

She's clearly distressed by the sounds that everyone else has already noticed. "Whatever's going on there, we need to help those people however we can. Even if it means I risk getting caught."

Nyssa, Send in the Clowns

Trying desperately to conceal the fact that she's out of her element, Nyssa tries to strike up a casual conversation. "So, how did you become acquainted with each other? All of you, that is."

Campsite/Woods

Damar looked over to where the screaming came from, and found Tavros screaming while riding the back of an unusually disturbed horse.

"Wait a minute..." Damar began. "Isn't that the troll from yesterday?" he chuckled a bit, before turning to Usalia again. "Maybe he'll have some of the spices you need." he added, despite knowing that this was extremely unlikely. "And if not, we'll help you look for them after breakfast."

Gdonya Streets

Ahriman walked away from the cart, which was now currently occupied by the insane girl and the moronic demonspawn. And upon hearing Molly's snide little comment, he simply rolled his eyes and shook his head. Getting angry was what the idiot wanted - people like him couldn't stand apathy.

Walking down the market streets, he saw most of the merchants closing up shop for the night, and was about to turn back to the cart, when he noticed one book seller still open for business. He hurried over to that shop, money ready.

"Excuse me." he began as he faced the shopkeep. "Would you happen to have any books regarding sorcery?"

Day One

Market

The portly woman behind the vegetable stall was jotting down notes when Eileen approached her and made her request. "Ah! Well, you'll help clear out the last of my stock and no mistake," said the woman brightly, putting away her notes. "There're around three kilograms of tomatoes left, six and a half kilos of potatoes, nearly two kilos of onions and three heads of lettuce. If you want the lot, that'd set you back by, oh...46 zloty? If you want bread, then the baker's wife's two stalls down, and she's selling white bread for 2.91 a loaf."

The grey-moustached little man running the bookstore was understandably intimidated by the hulking presence of Ahriman. "...Sorcery...Well, I, ah, may have one or two things..." he started rummaging around. "Anything that can be legally sold, of course...Wouldn't want the Atlantean priesthood thinking my practice heretical, ah heh heh..." Moving aside an etymology book, a guide to vampires, and an atlas of the continent, the bookseller laid down a couple of books with the titles "Infinity and Beyond: A History of Research on Planes of Existence" and "The Black Library: Real or Rubbish?" before going to check the boxes at the back.

Streets

"Well met, Miss Clearwater," said Christie, cautiously leading the group out into the streets again. "I should warn you, though, this gang of pirates isn't exactly human. Don't know if I would call them 'monsters', but they seem to be these vaguely animal things using human glamour."

"So, how did you become acquainted with each other? All of you, that is."

"Well, I began my morning wandering the streets, desperately asking anyone I saw if they'd escort me to the capital. That was when I met the girl Tetra, and we headed into the Green Sailor Inn to discuss the terms. Unfortunately, a few of the gang members happened to enter that Inn as well. None of them spotted me, thankfully, and they were driven out in a brawl that got joined by Miss Akane and Mister Mollymawk. After that, I managed to fully explain my situation to them. They decided to see if those pirates had sold any of my other findings, we headed to the pawnshop undercover, aaand that's where the best part of the day went. Come on, almost there."

Day Two

Amidst the confusion, the screaming and the adventurers running every which way, at least a couple of our adventurers were bound to get lucky at some point and run in the actual direction of the sounds of disaster. Once they did, they would find themselves in a small, open space of the woodlands. Taking in their surroundings, the adventurers would soon find the space was only clear because several smaller, thinner trees had been knocked down, broken, dashed apart. A struggle had taken place here, that much was certain. The soil was upturned, the bark was torn from thicker trees, and across the area were the shattered remains of something wooden- a box, perhaps, meant for carrying fruits and vegetables, judging from the size and shape of the more intact planks and corners found about. Halfway up a tree, a badger was stuck in the nook of a branch, pedalling its legs in a mad panic. By the root of a tree opposite, a marked parchment was caught and fluttered in the faint breeze. Aside from this, no one else could be seen.

Woods

Running blindly through the woods worked every time. After getting turned around once or twice, Shoto eventually stumbled across an empty clearing, which was more than a little foreboding.

His horse was a bit too stubborn to actually enter, so he ended up dismounting and exploring it on foot. He started by checking the remains of the box, just in case he'd missed a few details from the distance before heading over to pick up the piece of paper.

Streets

Leah just hummed slightly at Christie's warning. Animal pirates, a new one, in her experience. That didn't mean much to her, though. They still wouldn't have much on her.

"I joined the group same time as you," she answered Nyssa, "saw the craziness at the shop."

woods, > Tavros: Solicit the aid of the familiar forest wanderers

The troll seemed a little too preoccupied with his rowdy fiduspawn to properly reply to Caitlin's greeting, mostly just continuing to scream and make mixed attempts to calm it down. For a moment he seemed to be trying to raise both hands to his temples whilst simultaneously holding a pair of reins, but the horsaroni suddenly jumping over a rock interrupted whatever psychic trick Tavros had been attempting on the beast.

"UH, COULD ONE OF YOU LEND A HAND, PLEASE?" he yelled at the nearest person.

Matilda, Horse Whisperer

Matilda grabbed the reins to prevent Tavro's horse from bucking and prancing any further and started stroking its flank in order to calm it down.

"If the rider panics, the horse will panic too," she explained. "So it's best to keep your cool if you don't want your horse running out from under you."

Biscuit trundled over to nicker a greeting and nuzzle the side of the confused and panicked horse.

"That.. would be good plip..." Usalia followed allong, nervous, and seemingly jumpy. She wanted to approach the guy that might have the spices necessary for curry, but she had no idea how to handle a horse and Matilda approached first. So Usalia just listened to the environment around them. Something big happened here, and there was a chance whatever was here might come back.

Kled-Woods

Kled got close to the scene of crime along with Shoto. He really didn't seem to care about it whatsoever, and looked more annoyed than worried.

"Well, whoever they were, hopefully they're gone now. Otherwise, I would have to shove a axe up their guts for daring trespass on my prop..'" Kled started to stutter as he noticed in a branch something he feared..

A goddamn brain badger.

Kled looked at Skaarl, before making a gesture to her to be quiet.

"Shh...it's time to get violent...and weird."

Kled and Skaarl then charged at the position where the unlucky badger was, as the Yordle started to swing his axe madly in a attempt to kill it. Unless it wanted toa be cut in half by a angry Yordle, it better climb fast enough or run away.

"Get off my lawn you stupid brain badger!"

Eileen-Market

"Good enough, I'll take it." Eileen nodded to the woman, as she started grabbing money from a bag of her garb, and would give the 46 zloty to the vendor.

The Hunter would then wait as the woman would begin to pack the vegetables. Once that was done, Eileen would then grab the bag full of food, and then thank the vendor before moving on to where she was told where the bakers wife was to continue on their need to buy supplies, and buy the bread.

Damar heard Kled rambling on again, and ran over to the Yordle's location... and found himself staring at the ring of damaged and destroyed trees.

"What in the three hells..." he began to say, when he noticed Kled and Skaarl trying to attack a badger up in a tree, with the Yordle continuing to rant about 'brain badgers'. The Cardassian slapped his hand against his forehead, and then proceeded to rub his thumb and index finger against the bridge of his nose. He knew better than to convince Kled that brain badgers didn't exist, so he thought of some other way to get the Yordle to rejoin the group.

"That's not a brain badger, Kled - just a normal badger. Actual brain badgers are skinnier, as well as orange and purple, not black and white."

Gdonya Market Place

Ahriman looked down at the books placed in front of him. The first one showed the most promise of the two, while the latter sounded like something a sensationalist conspiracy nut would write. Still, even something like that could contain at least a kernel of truth, and gaining any potential knowledge was infinitely preferable to remaining ignorant. He pulled out his coin purse as he waited for the shopkeeper to come back - the owner of this small establishment had been much more polite and helpful than the owner of the pawnshop, and deserved to be rewarded for his efforts.

Day One

After another few minutes of walking, the group accompanying Christie would reach the old mill. It was an impressive sight, being mostly a slated roof stretching 85 feet high, with the sound of rushing water continuously flowing beneath. Christie looked relieved for a moment, then suddenly doubled back with a start, dragging the others back into a nearby alleyway. She raised a finger to her lips, then with that finger pointed to the streets. A patrol of shady looking men was spread out around the road, circling the mill and watching every building with furtive eyes. Some were tall, some were small, some were fit and some were pudgy, but all sported red and white striped bandanas over their foreheads.

Meanwhile, Eileen and Ahriman's purchases went relatively uneventfully, and they were soon on their way back to the cart with items in tow.

Back at the cart, however, something threatened to disrupt the serene atmosphere. Off in a distant alleyway, there came the sound of a box falling over, and what looked like a young lad in a striped bandana falling flat on his face. If Mollymauk were to glance up in that direction, he'd have recognised him as one of the pirate crew that he'd brawled with at the Green Sailor. One bit of eye contact made, and the cabin boy would be scrambling to his feet and off down the street.

Day Two

Investigating the fragments of wood, Shoto would find some unusual features of this 'box'. The sides were equipped with metal braces, with torn remnants of fabric along the edges, and there were little bits of metal poking out that didn't seem to be part of the box itself. A tiny spring at the top, a T-shaped stick, bent out of shape, poking out from underneath...then there was that round thing fixed into the side, with sticks poking out like the spokes of a wheel. If he didn't know any better, Shoto would think this looked like the remains of a miniature covered wagon.

Then there was a little bit of parchment. On picking it up to examine it, Shoto would discover that it was a map of the country. Cities and towns were marked on it, as was the mountain range at the border of Boii, but particular detail was made with the different woods and forests of the lands, marked with tiny trees that were drawn in different styles as if to indicate the different trees native to those areas. A dotted line trailed down along the coastline before X marked the spot in the forest named 'Bladyzamek' on the map.

Usalia's scanned the environment for noise. Aside from the obvious squealing of the badger stuck in the tree- now even more panicked from Kled's unprovoked antagonism, and wheeling its legs in the air, unable to escape -there was a buzzing noise, like a swarm of insects, heading further and further into the distance. Then something else caught her attention: a muffled yelping noise, like the muted sounds of a man calling for help. To the side of the area, there was a mound that would only come up to about Matilda's knees. A large rock had been jammed into the side, and underneath it came the mumbled cries of distress, along with frantic scratching.

Clearing

Shoto tilted his head slightly at his findings. A map and a painted wagon. A trader? Maybe, although that wouldn't explain why they were looking for parts of the woods specifically.

Before he could really consider, Kled started yelling and chasing down the random badger.

He glanced between Kled and the badger then slowly walked up to Damar with the map. "I think someone might have been searching for something," he said, "I don't know what a Bladyzamek is, but it must be important."

Chest Mission

Leah was a good enough sport to let Christie pull her back into the alley. "Well, there are the pirates," she muttered. She then turned to Nyssa and raised an eyebrow, "so, stealth expert, got a plan?"

Gdonya Streets

As he sat on the cart, Alice slumbering away by his side, Molly might suddenly hear a voice hissing in his ear, as though passing through the lips of a snake:

“I hope you’re pleased with yourself.”

Everything else had been going perfect; her hard-won efforts had born fruit on every front, from the shopkeepers to even her work on little Tetra. She could see the effect her words were having on the strangely mature girl, saw the dual temptations of treasure and enlightenment worming its way into her, as that same light had to so many before, as it had to one lonely girl just three years ago. She had been lost, as adrift as a ship without a rudder, and now she had the opportunity to pay it forward, to show yet another person the warmth of Alexis smiling upon them. The same warmth Akane felt at that moment, both within, and without.

As for the shopkeepers, she had honestly meant to leave them with something for their efforts, but then they annoyed her by pressing her for time once too many. When they asked for her method of payment, she merely flashed a coy smile, reached down to her side where Utsumi’s open maw was dutifully waiting for her, and deftly pulled out the very same bangle she had placed within several minutes before—but no enough minutes to do away with the design on what had been the golden coin, affixed underneath the fixed seam. “Credit~.” She had said, followed by walking off before they could properly inspect it.

It was only when she went outside, that she realized the full extent of the demonic buffoon’s antics, and their consequences.

Prospero.

Yharnum.

Wonder…land?

And of course a few mercenaries that Christie had picked up for busywork and protection, but Akane never worried about anyone that could be paid off. The others, particularly the woman in the bird mask who could barely take a breath without leaving a threat in its wake, were on a mission.

Specifically, a mission to collect Mollymauk Tealeaf’s head.

“Do you even really get how hard you’ve made your life, and mine?!” Akane continued to spit lowly from the other side of the cart, speaking through the open space where the stone disk lay, with her back turned and her voice low in an attempt to avoid waking the sleeping homeless girl. “When you were goading those pirates, I thought you were overconfident, or maybe just drunk. But now I have to wonder, whether or not you’re actually suicidal!” She turned in place, making to glare at him with one vibrant eye. “Now I have to leave Christie to her own devices with a pair of hired hands, because I can’t be sure that this cart would even still be here if I left!”

“Just tell me something,” Akane asked, completely missing the spying pirate even as he took a tumble, “what happens when one of the others, that bird-faced woman for instance, decides that she’s had enough of you and does away with you in your sleep? Will that just be part of the joke?”

Alleyway

Without a second thought, Nyssa quickly begins scrambling up a wall- not like that Nightmonkey fellow, but still very quickly. It's clear she's done this before. "I'll handle this," she replies to Leah.

Nyssa's made her way to a roof, tucked carefully into the shadows, her nose and mouth covered by a scarf, her hair by a hood. Only her eyes and eyebrows remain visible.

A long sash drapes from the top of the roof. Immediately, Nyssa descends from it, and quickly attempts to grab one of the pirates.

"I'll make this simple. Return the items you've stolen from Miss Christie, or meet your demise. Your choice."

Her threat doubles as a distraction, too; the pirates are likely to be so focused on Nyssa that they won't realize the rest of the group is about to make a move, too.

Usalia's ears twitched a couple times as she focused on the different sounds around her. The buzzing seemed curious, but she was immediately distracted by some unusual sounds. She centered on it and took a few steps forward, until she realized what it sounded like.

"Guys, I think someone is trapped!" Usalia hopped over to the rock where the sounds came from. She attempted to move it, but there was no way she was going to get it herself. Cart

With a finger constantly nuzzling the mouse-rabbit now living atop his shoulder, Mollymauk quietly listened to the Cat, though his eyes remained steadfast and ready, scanning the area around the cart for anyone who looked like they wanted to do something violent to them- a look the Demonspawn was all too familiar with. "Me? Some kind of traveling magician, scamming innocent people out of their hard-earned coin with tricks and treachery?" He asked out loud in mock offense. "Heavens, no, I'm not that kind of person. Besides, you profit much more if you're the only one in the troupe, see?"

After chuckling under his breath, the Demonspawn spent the rest of his time caressing the mouse-rabbit (which he eagerly nicknamed 'Branch') before watching carefully as Eileen and Ahriman returned to the cart. "Oop." He snapped, trying to reach and grab an onion atop Eileen's vegetable bag. If successful, he would breathe on it and rub it against his cloak, staring at his reflection as Akane confronted him.

"I don't like that word, suicidal." He muttered in response, taking off a piece of the onion and giving it to the mouse-rabbit. "It implies I have a plan, an objective, a quest of some sorts. And I, dear Akane, would never be that boring. You may not like it, but someone trying to kill me in my sleep?" He shrugged, and prepared to take a bite out of the onion. "Sounds like a rather perfect punchline, doesn't it?"

Mollymauk's bite was interrupted when something caught the corner of his eye. Yes, for a moment, the Demonspawn's eyes flitted towards the cabin boy observing them, but he attempted to conceal that as well, digging into the onion ASAP. "Now, before any of you try nagging me into obedience again," He spoke out loud to the onion after gulping it down. "Let's try and deal with the pirate peeking at us from that alleyway to my right, hm?"

Alice – Le Cart

The mouse-rabbit sniffed at the onion experimentally, before seeming to pause a long while—and for a moment every leaking aspect of the supposed ‘Wonderland’ ceased in an instant. But then it resumed equally as quickly, and the jaw of the rabbit seemed to stretch and widen to a degree impossible; a disgustingly human set of teeth visible in its mouth as it crunched down on a portion of the onion and took it into the gaping abyss that was its throat. But as soon as it had entered, its mouth closed and resumed being that of a truly miniscule rabbit.

The Cat, barring a slight twitch at the slow grating sound of the crunch, showed no signs of surprise. Instead he flicked his eyes over to where Mollymauk directed them, tail beginning to weave back and forth as he stretched and smartly stood himself up on Alice's lap in preparation to move.

“A scoundrel? Or a dangerous killer? We'll see, won't we? As it stands, I–”

The Cat halted yet again, before turning his head back towards them and slowly broadening his grin until almost his entire head was overtaken by the curve of his serrated smile.

“Goodbye.”

The Cat vanished in an instant. No ribboning. No puff of smoke. He was there, then he was not there. In the blink of an eye. Or the tired yawn of a–

“Oh, hello again,” Alice murmured sleepily, dress flickering back and forth between its usual drab brown and its brightly coloured teal as her brain struggled to differentiate between the dream and her reality. “Most curious dream I had. I...”

She trailed off as she found herself staring directly at the little mouse-rabbit that Molly had by now decided to adopt, gaze completely losing focus yet again as she turned around to look in the exact direction the Cat had been looking in before he had disappeared. After a moment, she looked back at them.

“Did I... hear something about a pirate? Well I could've sworn it was...”

Kled-Woods

Kled looked over at Damar, stopping his efforts to murder the badger.

"Huh, I thought invisible badgers were purple coloured, your brain badgers are pretty weird in Cardassian then, military boy!"

Kled then moved to where Shoto was.

"Bladyzamek? That sounds like the name of a new property. I sure want it!"

Eileen-Streets

Eileen moved to where the cart was. Thankfully, Alice was okay herself, and the mongrel didn't do anything. It seemed the young girl who worshipped the great ones was having an angry argument with the half breed. She was about to put the supplies in the cart, until Molly suddenly grabbed a onion...and are it.

Any comments she might had to that was stopped when Molly mentioned a pirate who seemed to spy on them. She glanced at the alleyway for a second, before pulling her blade of mercyin the right hand, and a large pistol which seemed far larger than a normal flintlock in her left hand.

She then noticed Alice waking up, and that the strange cat was nowhere to be found. "Don't worry lass, just stay here while we deal with those troublemakers, will you?" She then looked at Ahriman, as if telling him without saying anything if he will help her.

"Bladyzamek?" Damar asked, just as confused as any other member of the group. "Never heard of it." He was just about to make a snarky comeback to Kled's "property claim", when he heard Usalia mention someone being trapped under the rock. Walking over, he heard the scratching and crying of whoever was trapped under the rock. He then grabbed his pistol, and turned the dial on it to its highest setting - sufficient to vaporize the rock in question. "Stand back." he told the were-rabbit, not wanting her to be vaporized along with the rock. "This is going to get rather... intense."

Gdonya Streets

As Ahriman walked back to the cart, he overheard Molly's answer to Akane's question. By the Gods... he really IS an idiot. He thought. Any further thoughts about the demonspawn's stupidity were cut short, however, by the arrival of pirates. Who seemed even more idiotically suicidal than the demonspawn. When Eileen looked at him, he nodded back, and readied his staff, sorcerous energies crackling between his finger tips. Today was going to be very interesting, indeed.

Jenn glanced around to see if anything else was going on around them. Keeping your attention too focused was a good way to be ambushed. Also, what was "curry?" It sounded delicious.

Rock Protection Service!

Deku had been mostly silent after asking the Cardassian his question and not receiving an answer. Deciding that the Cardassian did not think him powerful enough to join his cause, Deku was on a sharp watch for whatever could help him prove himself. Thus, when screams were heard and the party split up, he made sure to keep up with Damar, though his horse lagged behind somewhat due to it’s old age.

Because of this struggle to keep up, his focus was completely on trying to do just that, and he nearly let a golden opportunity to prove his worth slip right out from under him. After Usalia’s statement about rocks and, more importantly, people trapped under rocks, Damar was very likey about to use the vaporise option on his gun, which Deku had studied on in libraries while he was bored. This produced imminent danger to whoever was under that rock if there wasn’t enough room, so Deku came up with another idea.

“Mister Damar? Umm, I think there might be a better way to get rid of the rock. Umm, if you don’t mind, I could do it.”

Hinata – The Woods

The sound of muffled yelling made Hinata shiver with unease even as she scampered to keep up with Jenn—quickly assessing the situation and noting Damar raising that strange weapon of his towards a rock they all seemed to be gathered around. The rock that the yelling seemed to be coming from.

“No! You might hurt them!” she objected, unwittingly agreeing with the others. “L-Let's just... I-I can see who it is... it might be something dangerous under there...”

Yes, it sounded remarkably human. Human enough to make her desperately want to get whoever or whatever it was out. But she knew that it was this exact kind of possible trap that ninja should always look out for. That and she had the means to look herself. She might as well take advantage of it.

Mentally noting to not use it in as much of a consecutive fashion in the future, Hinata once again activated her Byakugan—shifting her eyes over to the rock so as to penetrate through it with all of her focus possible. Her extensive peripheral vision faded slightly as she concentrated on that particular point, but she had faith in the others to back her up, so she didn't pay much mind to it.

As soon as she could confirm it was indeed what it sounded like—a panicking, trapped person—she would nod to the others and let them work it out. She doubted that she was skilled enough to shatter the rock with only her taijutsu. Even then it'd probably be all or nothing.

Day One

Chest Mission

The rest of the pirates quickly took notice of Nyssa and the trembling captive she had in her grip. Quickly they spun around, adopting battle stances and menacing snarls as their glamour dissipated like a dry ice mist. Ahead of Nyssa, there was a squat wolflike beast in dungarees, with a throwing knife in each hand, and a ducklike being in shades, brandishing a Hylian boomerang. As the two bounced in place, ready for a fight, Christie began nervously tiptoeing across the street far behind them.

Cart Crew

The cabin boy glanced back at the sound of clinking metal, just in time to see Eileen bearing a sword and gun, along with Ahriman gripping his staff and summoning ancient sorcery. With a yelp of fright, the little pirate instinctively dropped his glamour, becoming little more than a little brown blob with a face and feet. He sprinted down the street as fast as those feet could carry him, eager to send word to the rest of his crew.

Day Two

Through the very rock itself, Hinata gazed into the hole underneath and discovered a tiny little man. It looked like a slim young man, with messy brown hair, but surely no more than eight inches tall- a good size for a lawn ornament, but very unusual for a person. If her vision was fine-tuned enough, she might have noticed he was wearing a tunic, leggings and boots, and half-hanging off his head was a distinctive pointed cap. Right now, he was banging on the rock, and cupping one hand to his mouth to try and call out for help. Behind him, Hinata just about made out the shapes of a couple of rabbits bobbing about. Perhaps the tunnel was the blocked entrance to a warren.

Woods

Damar listened to Izuku's suggestion, thought about it, and then powered down and holstered his gun. If the kid wanted to try it, who was he to stop him?

"Alright." Damar said, giving a slight smile. "Knock yourself out."
