Like, your comment wasn't about saying all anti Itsuki comments are about complaining about her being predictable or first girl, your comment about it being hard to not see her interactions with MC in that light is completely true though.

Given the text on the color spread at the start of this chapter ("Past, Present, and Future, the five are always close as can be."), and the cranes, I'm really hoping things work out. I want to like Ichika again, and I want her to learn her lesson.

So volume 8 is already past 200k copies sold, and no. 1 of this week's Oricon top. There's only been a 30% drop between the first and second week.

So yeah, the series is doing decently well so far. I'm curious to see if Bokuben will explode in the same way next season.

Just caught up with the manga, I watched episodes 1-6 then started reading because I was really enjoying it.

I think my favorite thing about the manga is how well characterized all the quintuplets are.

I really would not mind the wife being any of the five, even if Miku is Best Girl. :P

My rankings would be roughly Miku/Nino > Itsuki/Ichika/Yotsuba.

Oh, and Nino's new look is amazing.

Great design choice by the artist. Sometimes a change can take a while too get used to, but in this case it just went from great to fantastic.

Nope.

Current leading theory is Yotsuba, but it's still up in the air.

Thank goodness the manga hasn't reached that point yet. If the manga already had a flashback of what exactly happened five years ago, hoo boy... As for the aforementioned theory, I'm guessing the manga already dropped some signs/hints that it might be her? Which makes me curious if the anime will manage to cover those at its current pace.

I don't know if I agree with it being her, but only because of events that come later - specifically the fact that it's vague whether or not Yotsuba could be "Rena".

Unusually for this trope, it's also not 100% certain that the girl in the photo is the bride.

New chapter is out in Japanese, so I'll read it tonight and see what's going on there.

Huh… I have a newfound respect for Takeda now.

Yup. I expect this will be the last we see of him as a major character, though I'd actually like to see him invited to the wedding.

Anyway, Papa Nakano might actually be growing some grudging respect for Futaro at this point, and I see we're more or less skipping over the actual gift-giving. I expect next week will deal with the fallout of Ichika's lie once things have calmed down and Futaro gets more chances to put things together. Overall, though, I want to believe in the "no matter what, these six will stick together" atmosphere - even through thick and thin.

I didn't really care much for this chapter, as I didn't give much of a damn about Takeda. He shows up quite late into the story, and the narrative doesn't even treat him like an actual rival. If anything, his purpose is to be a parody of such characters. At best, he was just a walking gag.

So by the time this chapter came out, I couldn't give less of a damn about him, so his backstory was a waste of pages as far as I was concerned.

I'm betting it's setup for him being the best man in the wedding flash forward that's due next chapter.

The new chapter is out, and hoo boy it's a big one. I read through it pretty fast, but highlights include:

• Takeda is still hanging around with Futaro and seems likely to become a friend.
• Futaro is reinstated as the official tutor, with Nakano Papa's grudging admittance that it seems like he's the only one who can do it.
• However, he insists that Futaro be gentlemanly with his daughters. As a result, Futaro is more conscious of how close he is with the girls and seems to be trying to reclaim some distance from them.
• Itsuki has a secret she wants to tell Futaro about having "another face", but she gets caught up in talking to him about love advice and they get interrupted by Yotsuba before Itsuki can talk.
• Futaro fell for Ichika's lie and believes Miku is out of the running. Itsuki seems to think this is odd, and may be the key to turning Ichika on her ass.
• The school trip will be to Kyoto, where the sisters first met Futaro and took the picture. Miku is planning to seal the deal there; Nino is also gearing up for something big.
• Ichika recognizes the picture with blond Futaro as being from Kyoto, though it's unexplained how.
• Itsuki is confirmed to be Rena. Unless it's a red herring, but the exact line is "I can't tell him, after all. All of this, and the stuff in Kyoto too... How could I explain it?" while looking down at the dress, hat and wig Rena wore.

Hmm, that's one question answered at least. And Itsuki is shown to be pretty perceptive in this chapter. When it comes to Fuutarou at least, she's quick to notice when something's fishy, like him keeping his distance or the matter with "Miku". She wasn't my first option regarding Rena's identity (that would have been Ichika), but it makes sense.

Does Miku really think she can win him over with… bread…?

This feels like such an unreveal lol. Itsuki being Rena feels so obvious that you figured its not but then it is.

Yeah, it can't be Nino since she don't recognize him at first, Yotsuba and Miku both can't act that well to pout on Rena costume and trick Futarou and from Ichika react to Futarou there no way it can be her, so the only one left is Itsuki. But hey, that mean the the story make the characters of each girl standout enough that the viewers could guess who Rena is base on what we know of each girl.

It looks like we're approaching the endgame. All of the girls are about to put their cards on the table in the next arc.

I think you have two sisters confused. Miku is excellent at acting as her sisters, but Itsuki is a hopeless actress. So if she's Rena, that means that she was nothing but sincere.

Miku is pretty much best actor among sisters, Itsuki is least skilled in acting.

edit: Ironically Ichika who is actual actress is worse then Nino and Yotsuba in playing other quints.

That's....a good point actually. Especially since Itsuki is stupidly honest to a fault, she just doesn't have it in her to deceive anyone.

So anything she'd say as Rena would be 100% sincere

Ha, the translators are mad it wasn't Yotsuba. Well, Itsuki, now's your chance to see if you can catch up to the three leading sisters well enough to keep their fanbases from rioting at the inevitable.

No, i think Itsuki already out of the race.When Futarou and one of the 5 sisters kissed under the bell,, which was implied to be the first time Futarou and the bride kiss, i saw Itsuki as the least likely to do something like that since it completely out of her character.
