^What the fuuuuu.

Notable replies include people pointing out that the girls' dad looks like Levi and suggesting Yotsuba play the role of the Female Titan.

It's been fun.

Alright, so there's a rumor based on some "intelligence" among Chinese internet posters that the next chapter will be a Miku chapter. She will point to Fuutarou and say "Suki". No context was given other than the fact that they might be at a costume shop, possibly a costume photo shop, in kimonos. No information was given about his response, whether it was a straight up confession, whether it was play acting like it was in the earlier chapter, whether Fuutarou heard it, or what his response was. Take it for what you will. We may get some "accidental" Korean or Japanese leaks that confirm this, but the guy who first posted these rumors has been pretty reliable, I am told.

I doubt we'll get a yes, but we may get a no. Not sure if Negi has the balls to do that. His dog's life may be at risk. We might get a non-answer like Nino got or he might miss it because he didn't hear it or something.

Still plenty of arc left to go, though. We have Rena stuff and the stalker stuff to wrap up, too. I can't imagine all of that fitting into a single chapter. I'm not sold on the idea that Miku confessing right now would be good for her chances. Fuutarou's in no mood to deal with that, and I don't think he likes her that way anyways.

^Next chapter will 100% be a Miku chapter; the splash text at the end of this week's chapter calls it a Futaro/Miku date.

[up][up][up] - about the Wedding dresses.

I'm probably way WAY off as I don't know much about the details of Japanese culture, but I lived in China for 10 years: Multiple wedding dresses is the norm, the more wedding dresses the more ostentatious the wedding, the higher the status of the couple. So I just took that to be a sign of wealth in their future. (P.S. I'm not saying the two cultures are the same... I do not want to light a match under that bonfire!!! But there a lot of similarities).

If it's different in Japan I'm happy to be enlightened. That was just my reading of it.

[up][up]Well we had a Yotsuba date, next is the Miku date... maybe there will be one for each girl?

I'm not well-versed in wedding culture here, really. All I have to go off of is that the venue planner ladies in the manga specifically comment on how many dresses there are. I don't think that's a wealth thing in Japan, at least not any more than buying a whole bunch of expensive items is a wealth thing everywhere, but I could be wrong.

It's been fun.

The AOT crossover announcement took me aback… but then again, seeing the university AU stories at the end of the Attack on Titan volumes, I'm curious as to what it could look like. tongue

Negi Haruba drew the Colossal Titan better than Isayama.

Nah, it's not creepy enough. I'd like to see the Quints drawn Isayama-style though.

Oh, and if the leak I heard is true, Fuu definitely heard Miku's confession this time. She repeated it to make sure it got through. He blushed, but no word on any response by him otherwise. It might also have been in front of his group of bros. The timing of this still doesn't strike me as the best for her chances, but we shall see.

If nothing else, things have been handled a bit more realistically in this manga. By which I mean, stuff like Nino repeating her confession to make sure Futaro heard it, the two of them actually discussing their misunderstandings, etc. One confession isn't going to make or break a relationship entirely based on how it goes, and may open Futaro into considering Miku more strongly (as is often the case in reality).

It's been fun.

Otherwise, volume 9 has been doing… fine.

Yeah, that's 256,602 copies in its first week. For a reminder, volume 8's firt week sales were 125k.

I don't think Nino is going to lose because she chose the wrong course. Maybe she still loses, but it's going to take more than that. Given that Fuu already knows about her feelings and has since Scrambled Eggs, I don't know if he'll reciprocate, but we can find out. If we have to wait for 85 for the response, I'm gonna be angry.

And some Chinese or Korean guy got early access to the magazine. He usually does. Korea should already have the magazines in stock, but under embargo for a week. Some stores take a more liberal view of that embargo than others, but they won't go on sale until Japan gets them out.

Her course is not "wrong" per se. She certainly isn't any worse then she were before, but it will not help her from this point on. She either need change approach and go for something else OR having something else in addition to it.

Either is fine, really.

Leaks always tend to come early on Golden Week. And the main theory I've seen is that all the sisters will wear wedding dresses, to make Fuu pick the bride out of all of them to show how well he knows her.

While that does seem plausible, it would feel a little bit like retreading, I think - and it's a little too on-the-nose.

I also feel like you'd have to be really secure in your relationship with your sister to dress up in a wedding dress, on her wedding day, to the guy you were also interested in, and then stand there trying to convince him that you're the person he fell in love with and not your sister.

The only way I can see that happening is if Negi doesn't reveal the Bride's identity until the last page, when Futaro names her as he picks her out, but that's not a real suggestion, please don't actually do that, Negi.

I just looked back at that scene, to confirm what I remembered. There are 11 dresses... and 5 quints I can't math that theory!

I have other things to say, but I need to nap before Avengers Endgame. One of the perks of living where I do is that I could get my tickets on the release date at under $10 with no trouble and my pick of the showtimes.

Anyways, that OT rambling/bragging aside, I wanted to share some more on the Attack on Titan collab. There is now a Negi-sensei drawn promotional image. It depicts a Titan high fiving a certain quint. I knew she was large, but not that large. She must be eating well. But that image man...

So, without going into too much detail, some more spoilers have shown up.

Miku's confession plays out Star Wars style. She says "I love you," to which Fuu responds on what is apparently the last page of the chapter, "I know." It's a very matter of fact one with a littlebit of a smile, but no blush. Also, the sexy lingerie Itsuki bought at the beginning of the arc was for Miku of all people to wear. No word yet on if we'll get to see an image of that happening. The missing pages will feel in the details. The real Fuu reaction will come in 85.

But holy shit. If, as Dr. Strange once said, we're in the endgame now, there's no way this is a satisfying ending. Miku was building up to be such a nice character, then she lost confidence, and her sisters have basically dragged her across the finish line. If that's true, then I'm dropping this shit in a couple of chapters, after I see how this plays out. I was fine with a Miku end, but not like this. I'd take an Itsuki ending over this, and Itsuki has long been my least favorite ending option.

But honestly? I don't think this sets her up well for the endgame, or at least not yet. Her sisters have done everything for her. Yotsuba carried her up the hill, Ichika set this course meeting up, Itsuki bought the lingerie, and Nino gave the pep talk. It's almost too perfect for it to end like this, and Fuutarou's initial I know didn't really have the "I'm also in love with you" look to it, but again, the missing pages may say more. We shall see, but the choice appears to be Miku vs Nino for the endgame.
