ITT: We Are All Pirates' Revenge

Kauri takes back the sword and holds it close in his arms, clinging to it for dear life. "… Um… I dunno."

Bright Eyes flicked her tail and gave a little laugh. "My, the cloak comes off an' suddenly I'm centre of attention."

She leaned in closer in case anyone was eavesdropping, then whispered, "It's a way of gettin' deeper in. They'll want to bring me an' my rare, special treasure to an expert to make sure it's genuine. You got any better ideas, or just here to turn in some things yourselves?"

"Nah, you go on ahead. Anything that gets us in is fine by me at this point."

Heh, I don't even have anything on me except this necklace. (Ira comments, looking down at the necklace with the ocean-shaped charm around his thick neck.) And...uh, it's got a lotta sentimental value so I'm just gonna let you do your thing.

"I could offer Yurlungur."

"   Milady!   "

"Lighten up, it was a joke", Mikaela reassured her trusty blade. "But yeah, even for a fake-out I'd feel uncomfortable just... Pawning off such a valuable, powerful relic and trusted travel companion of mine. I don't really have anything especially valuable on me right now."

"..." Parada seems to have hit the rock bottom of boredom. Her eyes are glazed over and there's a slight trail of drool hanging from her mouth.

Suffice it to say, Parada has had enough.

She breaks off from the group and starts wading through (or, rather under, given most of the patrons probably have like a foot on her) the lines in an attempt to get to the front.

"... Is that sword heavy, dude? Why don't we getcha a holster for that?" Jane asks, looking at the sword.

"My treat! You won't pay a dime."

His eyes get a little glint of happiness. "Oh, really?!" He says before verbally backpedaling. "I-I mean… I'm okay with just holding it."

This kid really was cute. Jane smiles, nodding. "It's no problem! In fact..."

She looks about, trying to remember where a shop could be found, before farting off for that direction.

"You don't have a choice!"

Kauri blinks as Jane runs off, processing what was happening.

… Alright, it's processed.
"Miss Jane, come baaack!" He cries, chasing after her.

Bright Eyes hesitated a moment, glancing down at her cloak. "It's not like this is meaningless to me," she said. Then she steeled herself again. "Still, I won't likely need it 'til I can take it back anyway. Can't say the same of that fancy sword of yours."

She spotted Parada cutting in line and her tail perked up. It wasn't as elegant as she'd hoped, but it was bound to draw some eyes away from her, and that was good enough for now.

The Bank

One of the eagle-eyed tellers, an actual humanoid eagle, sees Parada and upon noticing the security guard, some kind of giant jellyfish, is once again asleep at his post screeches loudly to wake him up. Pointing at Parada, the teller nods at the guard who prompty snakes around at a surprising speed to be in front of her.

Are you someone's lost child? No cutting in line!

Meanwhile at the treasure exchange service the place was being run by a clockwork being made of wood and golden metal of some kind, looking a bit like a humanoid grandfather clock and even looks like a grandfather. He's wearing a monocle and is wearing a nice purple vest and black hat. He notices Bright Eyes.

Hello, can I help you miss?

Bright Eyes tipped her hat to the clock-man, holding up her cloak with her free hand. "Good day," she said. "I've got a magic item of some worth here an' was lookin' to see just how much worth. Got it from a sea-dragon. I don't quite know what it does, but I reckon it's to do with water. Think you can look it over?"

"..." Parada looks the jellyfish guard up and down. She weighs her options. When she comes to a decision, she turns around and just walks in the other direction without giving a response.

The Bank

Seeing Parada go away, the guard relaxs and returns to his post, keeping an eye on her just in case.

Meanwhile the clock-man takes a good long look at the cape.

Hmmm... not often we get this sort of treasure, normally folks just give us jewels and precious metal artifacts to exchange.

The clock-man turns around and calls to one of the employees. As soon as the employee left he turns back to Bright Eyes.

Can't leave my post due to customers of course, however there's someone in back that's more of an expert on the magic kind of treasure. He'll arrive here shortly and you can go with him to his workplace so he can properly evaluate it.

Bright Eyes nodded. "Figured as much," she said. "Magic stuff is rare an' it's more useful. After all, you can't do much with a fancy gold ring 'cept sell it, but a ring that protects you from cold's the kind of thing you hold onto." She then patiently waited for the expert.

The Bank

After a few minutes everyone inside the lobby of bank, employees and those waiting in line included, started to shiver uncontrollably with dread as the magic expert arrived. What can be seen of him is a black cloak and a dark horned helmet.

Yes, I'm the expert on magic artifacts. Sorry about the aura of dread, I have a hard time controlling that as I'm made of dark magic. Anyways let's get down to business. Just bring that cloak with you miss and follow me to my workplace.

Sennen is too busy being twitchy with impatience to shiver with dread.

Hurry up hurry up hurry up hurry up hurry up...

Parada, who has long since returned to the group, just bristles at the man and hisses at him like a cat.

(Ira feels some slight discomfort as the figure enters, but he is likewise feeling more impatient than nervous.)

Well, you lead the way, Bright Eyes! (Ira tells her.)

While Bright Eyes managed to avoid trembling, her tail puffed out dramatically. She clutched her cloak tightly while she tried to regain her composure. After a couple seconds, dread gave way to annoyance and humiliation - she'd worked so hard to overcome her fears only to lose face because of some petty magic trick.

Fortunately, she figured out how to turn this to her advantage. "You got it," she said to the helmed man. "Hope you don't mind me bringin' bodyguards - no offence, but I don't like bein' alone with people who greet me by messin' with my head." She then beckoned to the others. "Come along, then."

Mikaela held her arms close to herself as the expert entered with his aura.

"Gee..."

Yurlungur's eye narrowed a bit as the man came in. Something about him was unnerving.

As Bright Eyes signaled for them to come, Mikaela nodded and went along with her.

Sennen wastes no time moving to follow Bright Eyes and the weird dark-magic guy.

(Ira sighs in relief and moves ahead.)

The Bank

The cloaked being leads the group to his workplace. It's a dark room, lit up by glowing magic artifacts and his desk and shelves. The artifacts looked old, but one can get a sense of power or importance coming from them. In the corner of the room is a whetstone with some glowing purple runes on it. Behind his desk is a large bookshelf filled with old books.

The being sits down at his desk and gestures towards some empty chairs stacked up in a corner of the room.

Have a seat all of you. I advise not touching any of my stuff here, some of it can curse you if you use it the wrong way.
