Zach - Squad 1 - Dorms
...Did he really shut down that easily?
God fucking damn, he felt like such a fucking TOOL. Who the fuck was he kidding anymore, shutting down because he was being teased like that? Especially when it involved Yoko. ESPECIALLY when it made her look and feel on edge as hard as it did? It was pathetic, if he was gonna be a hero he couldn't do that anymore!
So he shook his head and tried to rub the red out of his cheeks before he spun back around and gave her a quick nod of his head. I'm fine! He wrote as quickly as he could. No harm done, no harm done, I should have thicker skin about stuff like this. You didn't do anything wrong, okay? He offered a smile as a way of trying to calm her.
He wasn't sure if the waves of anxiety currently pumping through the Star Ball were a result of worry for him or something else, but he needed it to stop now. He couldn't sit around being babied when someone else needed him like, RIGHT now.
Everything's going to be fine, okay? One hand reached up and gently touched her cheek, a look of concern on his own face. I'm fine. And you're fine. If we make sure we're both fine, then everything will be okay, alright? I love you. I'm always going to be there for you. So stop worrying, alright?
To emphasis this, he brought the Hoshi-No-Tama out from under his shirt and held it up to her, bringing it to his lips in a quick kiss and a few squeezes to help try and calm her down.
I'm not going to let anything happen to you.
Sam's voice brought him back from the little world the two of them seemed to share and he grinned, throwing his icy-friend a thumbs up.
All good! Just some playful ribbing is all. Nothing serious.

“...Alright. As long as you're okay,” Yoko accepted, closing her eyes as he put a hand on her cheek and managing a smile as he kissed her star ball. “I didn't mean to get to you like that though. Wasn't thinking. So don't be so hard on yourself either. That wasn't fair of me to just blurt something out like that.”
Her voice had dropped an octave as was her usual habit when she was talking about something seriously, and for a (rather frightening) moment she had a glint in her eyes and a small smile reminiscent of one Ash would display.
”I... am worried. I'm always worried. But that wasn't all I was worried about,” she admitted, glancing back to Ellie and Sam and gesturing them over as she lowered her voice somewhat. “I've got a bad feeling that something's gonna go wrong. Call it instinct, or maybe it's just me. But do me a favour and be on guard, okay? I don't want anything to happen to you guys.”
It was with a very subtle ripple that her body changed. It mildly bulked up. Her form was pretty much already that of a young adult, but it gained further muscle mass under the folds of her kimono. That and her tails flared out somewhat; ready to strike against themselves and light wisps of foxfire.
As for the hoshi-no-tama, the anxiety from Yoko's end had dwindled somewhat and had been replaced by what felt like cold steel. Zach had succeeded in calming her for the most part, it seemed. And a short glance and a reassuring smile from its owner accompanied a short burst of affection from the star ball.
No harm done.

Squad 1 - Dorms - Ellie
Zach asked her about demonic energies, and Ellie opened her mouth to reply when Shane came back. Still near-naked. Fortunately, he was quickly on his way, pausing only to tease Zach about his girlfriend. Then Yoko joined in, and Zach all but fainted, though Yoko quickly picked him back up.
Ellie giggled as his predicament, happy to have something to focus on other than Shane's body. Then she focused back on Zach's words before he'd collapsed.
"You were talking about that demon inside you, right Zach?" Ellie asked, casually. "Yeah, I was gonna ask about it, but Mimi said it was rude to pry. He figured you wouldn't want others to know about it. Anyway, did someone seal that demon inside you to stop the demon, or did you come to a deal with it, or what? I'm super curious."
Squad 3 - Hallway to Class - Mikael
"In my defense, most of my empowered things work. It's just technology that gets fucked up by demon energy for some reason." Mikael said, shrugging. "Maybe it's just some cosmic law of the universe that magic and technology don't mix."
Then Mikael gave a mischievous smile, and turned to Finn. "Yeah, so don't be to jealous. Demon magic can be volatile. Like this one time, where I tried to fix a sex-changing raygun."
On cue, Mikael shifted to his female form, and where was once a scarred, muscular young man was now an equally scarred and muscular, but quite buxom young woman. Mikael stretched her shoulders as she adjusted to the change in body. "Plus side, Ellie doesn't mind me being a girl from time-to-time."
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

"We do have the Ever Green," Mahvash reminded the Wonders. "How could you forget. Unless she needs to remind you that she's around in some special way. Anyway," she daintily adjusted her gloves and her purse and spoke chipperly as if she had not incited anything. "I'm going to gather together some more PBI fiber after I collect some materials for the belt and the cameras."

Seeing as Perry wasn't going to stick around and that she couldn't do anything to the Gaea rep, she let Alex grab her, though not without some protest.
"The day of your reckoning will come! And I'll be a part of it! You hear me?!"
Iona glared daggers at the rep, gritted teeth bared at him, the spark of rage in her eyes.

The two Alexes then merged, leaving only the Fem!Alex in the library left standing. Well, briefly anyways. The stress of merging from such a long distance caused them to collapse alongside Perry and Iona.
"Oof," they said, struggling back to their feet. "I might've pushed myself a bit with that. But it looks like we made it out ok."

Yoko's desire for them to be on guard put him on guard almost immediately. He could feel the ink beginning to crawl across the skin of his arms and legs, giving him a little bit of added defenses while only two tentacles stood to attention. He looked around warily-flinching visibly when Ellie continued to ramble off like Ellie tended to.
Oh, so it WAS demonic. that was, at the least a comforting thing to take note of. At least that way he had a way of dealing with-

Honestly it was doubtful that there was any being alive on Earth at that moment who could stop as fast as Yoko did. Her head had snapped around to Ellie and then Zach in surprise, eyes wide as she searched for confirmation—only to spot it in a slight tensing of the latter's features.
A shiver rocketed through the hoshi-no-tama, but that was all that was identifiable before Yoko abruptly returned her attention ahead and resumed walking. Rather stiffly. Her face was frozen between a blank numbness and a frustrated confusion; brow furrowed and lips parted as she stared forward in thought.
He's... possessed? He's... but... no that can't be it... but... a medium, maybe? But he... wait...
“Seal...” she repeated under her breath, before she turned to Zach with an unreadable expression and (rather roughly) grabbed him by the shoulder with her right hand.
“Show me. Now.”

Regathered at the Library - Felicity "Fluffy" Shepherd (Squad 4)
As soon as Perry and Iona emerged into reality, Felicity gave all three of Team Other Side a great big hug, squeezing her squadmates as tightly as her arms would allow her. "Are you all okay?! You didn't get hurt or anything, did you? I'm sorry; ah, it was dumb of me to say 'split the party'...!"
After her group hug, Fluffy gave Iona, Perry, and Alex each individual hugs (twice) then took a breath to steady herself. "I found out some important info so I'm gonna check out the books I found them in and fill you in on our walk back to campus. Lemme know what you guys found too on the way, okay?"
Fluffy got up and did as she said, checking out the various books where she found information on Leopold and his associates before making her way (presumably with the rest of her team) back to campus. On the way she sent a quick text to members of each of the other squads - Zach, Michael, and Mahvash.
Got something important to share with you all; gotta be in person though. Meet up at the dorms?

Zach - Squad 1 - Dorms
His expression read surprise when she grabbed him by the shoulder, and the quick wince of his right eye showed that it was rougher than he was probably used to. He wasn't sure if she was mad and trying to hurt him or...well, it was hard to read the Hoshi-No-Tama at the moment. So, at her utterance, he gulped quietly and looked around, almost...ashamed.
He nodded though, as he reached down and grabbed the edge of his shirt and pulling it off his body, showing off his admittedly thin frame, tendrils of ink currently wrapping around his arms and coiling around his chest as well, but that was mostly his decision to let the ink cover him in case something happened.
Taking a deep breath, he turned around to show her his back, which currently sported a black, twist mass of ink on his lower back, where the tendrils currently twisted free from and stretching around the front, up the neck, around his waist, up his arms and down his legs.
The two tendrils that were out and prepared to battle suddenly lowered back down and pressed against his skin, where they became tattoos again, looking down at the ground as he lifted a finger and wrote.
Since I was 8. He wrote, defeated. No one's been able to give me a straight answer what it is, or what it belongs to. I'm still Zach. It's not a possession. But it's...doing something to me.
He paused again, biting the inside of his cheek.
...I don't blame you if you hate me for hiding this from you for so long.
And now everyone knew. Well, at least his squad did. He felt his phone buzz, and he looked down dully for a moment before he reached into his pocket to fish it out.

"That's for not telling us that before" He told Zach. Before hugging him.
"You better be damn honest with us from now on, you hear me?" He told him "And you better be fine, because I won't lose a friend"

Yoko numbly traced the lines of the tattoos with her finger, not daring to touch the ink lest it react somehow. She was practically seeing in tunnel vision even as he answered his buzzing phone—entirely focused on the designs on his back.
Since he was 8. He's had this since he was 8. This... mass. It was intricate, yet simultaneously looked sloppy. Definitely a seal. She wasn't an expert on them, but natural artistic sense told her that it wasn't exactly a pleasant one. Demonic in origin as well. Specifically so.
And it was doing something to Zach. Her Zach.
A vicious snarl of rage erupted from her throat, but a lashing out didn't follow, as it wasn't directed at him. She instead leapt forward and tightly wrapped her arms around him from behind—a clear yet silent declaration that seemed to echo the one he had given to her just a short few moments before.
“...I am gonna stop that thing if it's the last thing I do, you hear me?”
There were no words to describe the pure spit and vitriol contained in that sentence. She was shaking with lividity. So she took a hissing breath between her teeth, and kissed him on the back of the head.
“You should've told me sooner.”
After a moment, she sighed and backed away again, only to reach for his chin and pull his face towards her. One particularly draining, angry kiss later, she turned and resumed her path.
“I'm not mad at you, okay? I get it. I get why. But for Kami's sake I'm taking you to Ikai later. If you can't fix whatever's going on with it here, I will find a way somewhere else. I swear.”
That and a visit to the Yōkai Realm would do even more good than that by the end of it... she mentally added. I'll have to convince Hogo though. I'm sure he'll agree if I explain it to him. Or if not I'll... persuade him.
Another heavy sigh.
At this rate I won't ascend. But right now, I could honestly not care less.
“Oh, and Sam? Hit him like that again and you're dead. Friend or not.”
Definitely not ascending.

Zach - Squad 1 - Dorms
The silence was maddening, and he felt everyone's stares at him bring him back to a more vulnerable time back at school, back at home, where everyone was...well, admittedly cruel to the child who never asked for these markings.
Then he felt the slap in the back of his head knock him free from the darker times of his past and he turned his attention to Sam, his eyes wide in anger...anger that died when Sam hugged him.
Well, he didn't know Sam was capable of EMOTING. That was certainly a new one.
He was about to write back to him...SOMETHING, he didn't know, he was still more or less shell shocked, he heard Yoko snarl from behind and felt his heart tighten and his life flash before his eyes-
As she grabbed him and silently, and ANGRILY declared her own desire to protect him. It was very scary to hear that much anger in her voice dedicated solely to protect him, he almost felt BAD for the tattoo-demon-thing.
He could only stare as she stalked off, he turned around, heart hammering with adrenaline, slight fear and most of all love as she continued her tirade about finding some way to help him.
And also to threaten Sam.
He blinked at that bit and turned to Sam, pulling his shirt back on and began to sign to him.
Thanks...Sam. I appreciate the thought. he offered with a smile as he put a hand on his shoulder. You're a good friend, you know that? Just need you to open up a bit more. And...don't worry about Yoko, she's just...protective. He paused, turning back to where she walked. ...Is it bad I like it a lot?.
His attention back to the phone, he pulled it out and unlocked it, raising an eyebrow.
Um... He held up the phone for Ellie and Sam to see, as he swung a hand out, a tendril wrapped around Yoko's wrist before she got too far.
Got something important to share with you all; gotta be in person though. Meet up at the dorms?
Guys? I think something big's about to happen. He said, remembering Yoko's words of getting ready...

"Ink demon, ink demon." As the couple had a brief spat over Zach hiding his demonic possession from them, Ellie tapped her chin. "I feel like I should know who that is, but I can't put my finger on it."
She eyed the seal on his back a bit, trying to determine its origin. Definitely a demon, but whoever it was didn't feel familiar to her. She giggled at the lovebirds's antics.
"Aw, don't worry Zach. Lots of guys are into girls like that." As he showed the text - and a group text at that, to Zach, Mahvash and Mikael - her face turned serious. "Squad meet up. They must have found something on Gaea. You want us to come with you, or nah?"
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

One would think that after having spent enough time around Ash to realize she wasn't cursing out of any general sense of malice he would have gotten used to it. And yet with every word he flinched at the harsh language. Still to his credit he didn't ask her to stop again. Everyone seemed pretty okay with it, so there was no use being a party pooper.
As for Mikael's transformation he couldn't really say he was bothered by it in the least. However a thoughtful expression did come over his face. "So what pronouns should we use?" he was difficult to tell, given that it seemed their primary form was male, and still seemed to hold themselves as a male even in the physical form of a woman. But there was always a chance he was wrong. "Just whichever form you happen to be in at the time?"
Be better, because what is the harm in trying?

As Perry and the others ran off with their tails between their legs, Darkheart simply smirked. If this were any other day, he would have gone after them himself, but he was needed elsewhere. In any case, they would get what was coming to them soon enough. As would Bozo. Providing the bookworm had done as instructed.
He closed his eyes and breathed deep. As he did, a dark shadowy cloak surrounded him from out of nowhere, enveloping him within its' embrace and concealing his features. Assuming he hadn't gotten rusty, it would even distort his voice. All the better. He then sank into the floor, appearing to flatten as he did so. And as soon as the last bit of his cloak had vanished, he was gone.
Squad 1
Just as Ellie was inviting Zach to a meeting of the minds, everyone in the dorm could start to hear a strange, soft beep coming from somewhere within the dorm. More specifically from somewhere within Zach's room. That would have been strange enough, but for whatever reason, it continued to beep. And beep. And beep. As if it were a broken record. Of course, there was any number of things it could have been. Perhaps someone left their cellphone in the couch cushions by mistake. Or perhaps someone fiddled with the alarm clock. Any number of things, really.
Assuming it was any of those things. Because there was a fair chance it wasn't. And if that were the case, then perhaps it was in their best interests to find it before it made one beep too many. Assuming it hadn't.
Squad 2
Ever barely had time to move before a spear of dark, shadowy flame cemented itself into the streetlamp behind her. The light of day quickly became dim as an array of spears flickered in the skies above. And yet anyone who wasn't a block away from the hardware store couldn't seem to see it. As though it were clear as day. Nor were the spears aiming anywhere else. Every single one of them was aimed at the block. And more specifically at Class 1.
Squad 4
Fluffy and the others were about ready to head on home, but as soon as they turned to do so, they noticed a very apparent roadblock. That being their fellow patrons. They had been surrounded by a throng of civilians all gathered together in a perfect circle. Their hands were held together as if they were inseparable, and their eyes were glazed over and devoid of emotion or soul. As if they had no will of their own. And all together they were chanting one single thing in a dull and soulless voice over and over again.
"FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD! FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD! FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD!"
It was like a broken record. One that wouldn't stop. But there was one other thing of note. Their eyes may have been soulless and void, but their necks had all been slowly creaking and turning. And now, they were all staring directly at Dawn.

Well, I'm not too sure. Zach shrugged, staring down at the phone for a moment before he closed it. It may be a good idea to meet up with her, but-

What the... He turned to where the direction of the Beep was coming from Is that...coming from my room?
He tilted his head to the side as he approached it slowly. Doesn't sound like my alarm...did someone leave their phone in my room? He wrote, as he grabbed the handle.

As Zach opened the door and looked into his room, there didn't seem to be anything of note. And yet, the beep was still going. And he could still hear it. In fact, it seemed to be coming from underneath his bed. Short of it being a monster out of bedtime stories, he wasn't sure what it could be. Hopefully it wasn't anything unpleasant.

Shane - Squad 1
Shane was just getting done getting dressed when he heard the noise the first time - he looked himself over the first time he heard it. Tight jeans, a new sleeveless and a jacket...yeah, this was good. He gave his rear a slap, and then winked at his reflection in the mirror...and then the beeping noises kept on.
His eyes widened, and he realized what was probably coming. He heard enough of his father's stories to know when he was hearing this kind of thing. When the fuck did—-
...During classes?
He darted out of the room running full tilt toward Zach's room.
When he saw the door opened, his heart almost skipped a beat. Did they not realize this - the endless beeping, the conspicuous location therein - was all foreshadowing a momentous, terrible detonation?
"Away from the bed! It's a fucking bomb!" Shane shouted as he rushed into the room shortly and gestured with one hand toward the bed. At once a stream of ice rushed from his hand and submerged the bed and surrounding / underlying area in sub-zero temperature ice.

“Zach–” Yoko warned, attempting to grab at his shoulder as he went for the beeping—but she was too late. He'd already opened the door.
She swallowed. That feeling of dread had just peaked. Still, she found herself leaning past him to look as well. From under his bed. That... wasn't right.
“Zach... your phone's on you... and you don't keep your alarm clock under the bed...”
The anxiety in her voice was practically palpable, and she looked ready to bolt and drag him with her. Yet while her senses were screaming, she felt frozen at the same time. Fight-or-flight was overloading. At the most awful time possible.
But then Shane ran in screaming, and she snapped out of her daze in an instant.
“Zach, move!”
Dorms – Squad 3
“...Dudes.”
Ash had abruptly stopped in place, one hand raised for silence. Her expression steeled as a tapping became apparent. A rhythmic tapping. Footsteps. From nearby. Specifically behind them. Slow and methodical. But not exactly subtle.
Cautiously, the pyrokinetic turned her head around. And stopped there. For the silhouette of a tall woman—an exceptionally tall woman, mind—was calmly walking towards them. A woman Ash at least seemed to recognize. And one some of the others may have as well.
Stark white, short, and messy hair. Pale, decidedly lifeless-looking red eyes—half-lidded and unblinking. Paradoxically tanned skin. A skintight suit blacker than black, giving Mahvash's decor a run for its money; with pulsating, blood-red lines being the only things to break up its image.
“Bonjour. Or hello. Whichever. So sorry to cut in. But I'm here on business, see...”
“You,” Ash growled.
The woman blinked. “Observant. Good sign. Now, let me introduce myself before we get to it. My name is Cendrillon Dufresne–”
“Like hell it is.”
“–I am dear Jacqueline's long lost mother–”
“#$&%ing bulls***.”
“–and am simply here to help her claim her birthright,” she finished, not looking at all perturbed by the repeated interruptions.
It was Ash's turn to blink.
“...Wh... what in the everliving #$&% are you talking abou–”

Her eyes widened as a streamlined object of a vantablack equal to the woman's suit seemed to simply appear in the woman's hand, aiming perfectly between Rebecca's eyes with not a hint of resignation or hesitance in her stance.
“And this is how I am to do it.”
Ash's mouth went dry.
“No!!”
