Another food for thought:
Since I recently listening to Initial D songs like Deja Vu or Gas Gas Gas... I kind of imagining a stupid concept about an Isekai:
Basically the protagonist got reincarnated into a world that is similar to F-Zero and most of the Isekai story spends of the MC racing either for winning to save the country or fighting for his life.
Yeah, that's a rather stupid idea and I doubt it would happen but that would be interesting if IT happens at the future as I never see a concept of Isekai mixed with racing genre

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."I was reading some anime news and apparently a Isekai novel called Nidome no Jinsei wo Isekai de just got pulled from Amazon and it anime cancel. So i do some digging to see why and wow... that some insane stuff. My first though was probably the author make some offensive tweet in the past and people found it and i was kinda right but the thing he said is beyond my expectations. Then i start digging stuff about the novel and the MC is a Japanese vet during the Sino Japanese war that had kill over 3712 chinese (which the author use to explain his skill with sword) and the story said that like a good thing and the god rewarded him by recarnated him to another world after his death at 94 (so he a war criminal that escape punishment).
E.T technically is a Isekai movie^That entire series was studded with coded references to the Japanese campaign in China, and yeah, the main character was more or less outright stated to have slaughtered civilians in Nanking. It's still pretty amazing that it was taken down, though, given how being in favor of that is coming back into fashion here in Japan.
It's been fun.Well the Japanese that do support their role in WW 2 usually say the atrocities never happened and pretend they were the victims, so neither the right nor the left would really like this.
And while I don't defend author overtly rasistic tweets (they were terrible) it doesn't show in novel itself. As far as I could see there wasn't any hint MC killed civilians in war, any implications he would be willing to or that he has any political or ideological affiliation.

^There weren't that many chances to kill thousands of people with a samurai sword in WW2, is all I'm going to say.
It's been fun. That war lasted 8 years and had millions and millions of non-civilian causalities. There was plenty of opportunities
Think about that: how do you make "badass protagonist" which MC is clearly supposed be? Anything but enemy combatants armed with guns wouldn't make sense narratively.
There is plenty reasons condemn this guy even without constructing more artificialy.

Perhaps the author considered civilians to be enemy combatants. The stories I know about Japanese swords in WW2 sure aren't terribly nice or clean and tend to involve Japanese officers being executed after the war for being Not Nice in Nanking.
Again that doesn't showcase any actual skill. Morality aside, it would be same as "cutting over 3000 rolled mats". There is no point mentioning such feat if there isn't challenge involved.
Again if you hear "this guy killed lot of people in war", it's natural assume it's meant to be in combat unless implied otherwise.

According to this link from reddit, [1]◊.
The number was specifically 3712, the Nanjing massacre happened on December 1937. Died 94 years old, same as prince Yasuhiko Asaka, who dies at 94(93 if by birthday) without being charged for leading the Nanking massacre because he was part of the imperial family, killing with katana specifically that is most linked towards the mass killing, killed 912 in the Chinese mafia, japanese forces surrounded Nanking on 9th December. Obvious hinting.
How is that obvious? Are you saying MC is prince? That wouldn't line up with him working for Mafia after war.
Edit: Is that about these numbers? It actually could be. I will look at it later today.

The point wasn't "to have a challenge", the point was to slaughter civilians. Japanese soldiers were absolutely given honors for killing unarmed civilians. That's why it happened, and that's why it was an atrocity. I guarantee you the character didn't kill 3700 soldiers on the Pacific front with a sword.
The hinting is in the numbers. December (12) 1937 -> 37 12. December 9th, 9 12. Died at the same age as a historical figure who was famous for leading the Massacre. There's no other reason to be so specific, and none of those numbers are accidents. They were chosen specifically by the author, whose tweets prove him to be a racist dickbag, not to put too fine a point on it.
In any case, I recommend you look into exactly what the Japanese did in Nanking, Tenzen. Read up on it.
It's been fun.I have no doubt author approves that massacre and it certainly looks he was paying tribute to it.
And it gives more credibility speculation MC of novel took part of it. Though given MC character and story narrative this is still most likely nothing more but intentional allusion. But I will stop there.
Well he deserved his anime canceled and much more that's for sure.
Yeah, the Japanese nationalists usually try to pretend they did nothing wrong during WW II as opposed to glorifying the mass murder and rape of civilians.
And it cannot be understated just how much of a crime against humanity it was. It's not called the Rape of Nanking for nothing.

Disgusted, but not surprisedIt says a lot that the 'Good Guy' during those events, who did a lot to mitigate Japanese violence against the Chinese, was a member of the Nazi Party.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."@M84 Interesting points you got there... Fun fact that Japan ain't no saint either in WWII especially due to their treatment for my own country but let's talk that about another time shall we and I prefer talk in PMs
Anyways, back on track... Anyone of you guys thinking about other Isekai ideas that has been untapped before. Personally I still think Isekai+Racing genre would be interesting as heck
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Um, nobody here was saying Japan was a saint in WWII. Quite the opposite.

I forgot but isn't diplomacy one also done by Overlord or Slime Isekai?
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Overlord? What diplomacy? The MC just blow up armies and forced other nations to his wimp.
Super hero Isekai
Western Isekai
Trap in other game beside RPG and MMO.
E.T technically is a Isekai movieThose are territory governing "genre" and let's be honest actual diplomacy and power fantasy don't go we together.
Eliza does great job but even there it's just part of focus.
Recarnation as a insectoid hive mind and invade a fantasy world sound pretty good.
E.T technically is a Isekai movieI so wanna steam/diesel punk isekai!

Pffft, I’m a Villainous Daughter, so I’m going to keep the Last Boss. Irene NTRed the holy sword. Aaaand Cedric and Lilia are pretty much officially fucked. They tried to rape and murder a duke's daughter and to assassinate the first prince while starting a war with monsters on the side. And Lilia in particular just lost the only thing that made her even remotely qualified to hold any kind of high position. Also Max was there too but tbh I don't actually remember who he is beyond Lilia's hired thug. A marquis with knight training or something?
I guess the story pretty much has to leave the otome game plot behind at this point.
Oh, and I don't think really flashy hair colors are unsuited for the villainess role. They're supposed to be beautiful but kind of gaudy at the same time. The heroine that contrasts her is pretty much always quite cute but fundamentally rather plain and not the type to stand out. The flashy villainess with her loud, aggressive or sneaky personality contrasts her by visually standing out. Red isn't particularly common, but I have seen it before.
