finally finished the story

i wanted to do it on EOS night so i wouldn't have to face heartbreak twice in a row

I really like how what causes Xenos to snap is that he was just as fallible as everyone else, and his refusal to accept that fact when it was placed before him by his own heart. Both him and Elysiums Fatal Flaw that doomed the latter to the former, and the former to himself.

It's honestly kind of beautiful how towards the end of the story they're able to weave most of the elements from it into something coherent, and pull that theme about possibilities and what they encompass from it.

There's also something poetic that the ending's about... well, how even if the world doesn't remember how someone made a difference, that difference and the hearts changed by it still persist all the same. I don't think I've ever seen a mobile game really feel special to as many people the way Dragalia managed to.

...even nearly a full year after the EoS announcement, I'm still not ready to say goodbye.But I'm glad all the same that I was able to stick with it.

I also like how it enforces why Bahamut doesn’t really interfere except as a worse case scenario. He wants people to decide for themselves, no matter how bad or stupid said choice might be, and if they bring about their destruction then he simply creates the world again and let’s them make their own choices again. The implication he knows he isn’t infallible as well that comes with it is good too, especially as he was right they’d fail to stop Xenos destroying the multiverse, they just barely managed to turn things around. In part due to the power gotten by facing Bahamut himself in Satan.

Even his power is a Paradox where everything simultaneously doesn’t exist and does.

What was everyone's favorite moments in Dragalia?

For me, I still think the Morsayati fight from the second anniversary stands out, just for the spectacle of it all. A multi-phase boss with a vocal theme and a Coup de Grâce Cutscene to top it all off make for a battle that really felt like a final boss fight for the time. The final boss fight in the story was pretty epic too, to be clear :p

I liked all the slice-of-life bits in the castle and adventure stories. I also liked all the great event songs, though Lucretia's first event is particularly special to me.

i always loved the slice of life parts of the game, especially since a lot of the castle stories would bring in characters that were often forgotten about

i also adored the fact that every. single. character.^note except Mega Man had a small story dedicated to them. it really made it feel like they put a lot of effort into making every character feel unique and give them a personality.

if the game had lasted longer, i would have loved to see more low-key events that focused entirely on the side cast, like most of the imperial defense stories.

its literally one of two gacha games that i've played where it felt like the characters i rolled were characters, that had a personality and a dedicated story to them that helps you get to know them.

oh, and notte. she was the best part of dragalia lost and i'm gonna miss her forever

Ah, favorite stuff from this game. There's a lot, really, but I'll just focus on favorite "group", so to speak, and favorite character.

While they started out feeling like pretty basic villains, I ended up loving the Royal family and their relationship to each other, and that includes Nedrick. I never expected loving Emile when he was first introduced, but solid writing made him my second favorite of the siblings (first being Chelle). The only one I didn't particularly care for was Beren, and even he was interesting enough due to his backstory.

Aside from that, my favorite character overall was Elisanne, and I'll forever be bitter that she basically stopped being important after her part in the ascended dragon arc and the most interesting parts of her backstory (being descended from Meene's personal bodyguard and her involvement with the scrolls of perdition) were basically shoved aside and resolved in a rush during Bondforged Zethia's adventurer story.

Ah yes, Elisanne the catnip for lesbians.

Speaking of lesbians, I really liked Eirene and Finni. They had an incredibly heartwarming pair of adventurer stories.

Sadly, I never did pull Eirene or Finni.

I never got Tiki, and that's far worse due to her unique playstyle. I also had to spark for Gala Chelle, and even then, I had to start scraping the bottom of the F2P barrel just to get to 300 summons. She was the last Rapid-Fire Manacaster I got. At least I got to use her for Primal Jupiter.

Only unit out of absolutely everything? Cause that would still be amazing.

I did get every single dragon except Dreadking Rathalos, so that was nice.

I mean while I was playing seriously I had like... 80% of the roster and only ever spent money on two Dream Summon Specials. (Naveed and Laranoa)

DL was very generous. Or I was just lucky. Maybe a bit of both.

I remember one of the hardest units for me to get was Halloween Edward who was a freakin' 3 star. I got LITERALLY EVERY OTHER HALLOWEEN UNIT AVAILABLE AT THE TIME before he showed up. This included the Halloween Mym everyone else was going ga-ga over.

Yes. The funny thing was that I only rolled during Galas and Seasonals. Otherwise I hoarded everything.

Something that wasn't linked before since I was going through Cygames' back catalog of articles for their website; an interview with all three scenario lead writers (as in they were the ones who wrote main story and two of them handled worldbuilding/character creation as well as directing other writers) right as the game wrapped up for the main story.

The article is translated into English by Cygames' translation team and mostly delves into what their intent was for various bits as well as which plot points were already decided in development before launch.

Also apparently Mercury was the one dragon that took forever to name with 300(?!) ideas floating around before their final one.

Yeah I think she was the only one with a Knights of Glory counterpart who was named a generic name I believe? It’s been awhile since I saw those.

I was surprised to learn the more interesting details from the concept books and the like how the game was likely going to have a Six element system ala Granblue. Earth and Lightning instead being incorporated into Light and Darkness with Elysium and Cthonius being left out as a result.

And on that note, Dragalia Lost may be officially dead for a few months now, but unofficially? It's just regaining life.

Yup, private servers are here! And if you follow some directions, you can bring back your save data if it was linked to a Nintendo account!

There are few downsides, which given that this literally just happened, shouldn't be surprising:

• For now, it's only for Android and PC. The people behind this are still working to have the Apple version somehow.
• There's missing features. Again, they made this work very recently, so expect the features to come bit by bit.

Hope springs anew.

Said hope is in a pre-pre-alpha state at the moment, but that's beside the point!
