Terence Nance is directing, Ryan Coogler is producing, and LeBron James is going to star in the sequel to Space Jam.

Space Jam is a pretty horrible movie, but I enjoyed it when I was younger, and I think a lot of other kids did too. Still... even with an actually-promising director/producer team, I can't work up any enthusiasm for a followup.

Just...

I have no reaction to this besides complete and utter confusion.

There’s a lucrative study to be made about how backlash evolves into ironic nostalgia then into genuine nostalgia. We shall see.

Today has been a great day, first the Captain Marvel trailer, then the reveal of Bianca the bunny from Spyro 3 in Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and now an official teaser for Space Jam 2. grin

Loved the movie as a kid, and even now I can't bring myself to dislike it. The movie's So Bad It's Good and one of my guilty pleasures.

I am so excited for this.

It said the Looney Toons were going to play basketball alongside Michael Jordan, and it delivered.

I never asked for anything more.

Still, I don't know if this really needed to be a thing. Oh well. Can't stop that money train can you?

So, I guess this means Warner Bros. is going to continue to act like Looney Tunes: Back in Action wasn't a thing. It probably wasn't successful enough to develop a fanbase of any kind unlike Space Jam, but still.

The true question here is whether any of the songs on the soundtrack will take off like the original's. Will we have another Breakaway Pop Hit like "I Believe I Can Fly"? Time will tell.

There's only one song I think of when I think Space Jam (and ironically, it's not the song called Space Jam):

Maybe the sequel could be an improvement to the original.

Good thing Chuck Jones isn't alive to see this happen, because he was pissed off about the first movie when he was alive.

Again just like with the live action Dora the Explorer movie, College Humor's parody videos are becoming realities.

This feels like a good excuse to note that, 22 years after Space Jam came out, the website is still up.

Why make a sequel when you've already reached perfection.

I'm only on board with this if Eric Bauza is voicing Bugs and Daffy.

With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptation
