Well I'm fairly sure Father Blackwood is using religion to eliminate his enemies (i.e. female witches).

Mind you, SATAN says that sacrificing and eating their own is stupid in Auntie's Cain and Abel vision.

Very true, and it is also noted that Father Blackwood brought back the Feast of Feasts after Edward Spellman banned it. Maybe that's part of the reason Satan has so much interest in Sabrina

Hmmm... It'll be interesting when all of these villain arcs start coliding. Madame Satan, Blackwood, Satan himself. I hear delicious screams of hellfire and dramaics on the horizon.

Praise Satan.

It helps to not have a fear of death when you explicitly know the afterlife is real. Even so, the Church of Night is somewhat self-defeating and has all the backbiting and infighting you'd expect from....a Chaotic Evil organization.

So why didn't Edward Spellman leave a warning that his little puzzle box was a prison for a sleep demon?

Are we sure that Blackwood hadn't put the demon in there between Edward having it and then his giving it to Sabrina? I'd have to think more critically on it since I'm on mobile and preping for graduation, but that was the first thought in my head. Especially since... why would he give it to her at all if opening it will likely murder her?

It's not like Edward gave it to Sabrina, Blackwood did that, pretty explicitly as a test.

[up][up]It’s explicitly stated that Edward was the one who sealed the demon in there.

[up]The test was to see if she could open it but I doubt he’d have made that risk if he knew what was inside.

Anyone else think Sabrina might have a twin?

Just a theory I have based on Sabrina's dream where she saw two babies with her parents and one had goat feet. That and the 90's sitcom gave her a twin, but she was only in two episodes. Also, that twin may have died since Sabrina's mother in limbo said that Sabrina died as an infant.

This twin, let's call her Katrina after the twin from the 90's sitcom, is part of another theory I have: The Spellmans agreed to split the twins between Catholic and Satanist, but they accidently put Sabrina through both thanks to confusing Sabrina with Katrina. Katrina may or may not be alive.

The two babies in Sabrinas dream meant to symobize her hybrid nature. And her mom was lead to believe that Sabrina died.

So nobody wants to talk about the christmas special?

When they tricked Gryla, I thought for a moment that Diana was Ambrose in disguise. I did not expect her to get more axtual screen time other that that seance.

Guessing they'll be filmed back to back like the first two seasons were, for keeping the actors as young looking as possible.

I like that hellfire is blue, it helps sell the fact that it's different than regular fire.

I just finished watching this series. I was a bit disappointed, it was very predictable and fell prey to a lot of cliches. I also don't really care for the actress playing Sabrina. She's feels a little too lightweight for the role.

Reading through this thread, I found the comments about the show's "feminism" pretty funny. Talk about muddled messaging. It reminds me of Pat Robertson's quote from 1992: ""The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."

This show seems to be seeking to prove Pat Robertson had a point, which seems more anti-feminist than anything. I mean, seriously, the show seems to be trying to make the point that witchcraft equals empowerment, and empowered women are blood crazed cannibalistic murderers with no morals or decency, who still manage to be mindless religious zealots and slaves to patriarchy. The show has evil witchhunters, but these witches are really pushing the whole Jerkass Has a Point trope hard. Hunting down and hanging witches like the Weird Sisters (and pretty much everyone but Sabrina and Hilda) seems like a pretty solid plan.

I really don't think the showrunners really have a firm grasp on what feminism is, or at least not how to tell a story with feminist themes without bungling it horribly. This show really makes women's empowerment seem like a bad idea.

Also, this show really made me think about American Horror Story Coven. That show had similar problems in that its witches were not exactly sympathetic, but at least it seemed to be aware that its witches were pretty evil characters. Much more interesting characters too. Prudence ain't got nothing on Madison Montgomery.

[up][up]lol wut. I can't believe that's a thing I just read.

The Satanists aren't really supposed to be sympathetic. Unlike Coven where the sympathies are clearly intended to be with the witches who are completely unlikable and I HATE that season with a passion.

I'd also point out that many of the characters you have a problem with are doing things that we AREN'T supposed to think are good actions. Zelda isn't a good person, but its obvious that character development is about to hit and already has in some respects. Characters aren't interesting if they start as good perfect people and... stay good perfect people. Taking someone from a pretty big low can create good characters that have a longer development struggle.

I mean, Prudence already shows the cracks of a good person maybe not quite beliving in the society she is surrounded by. Same goes for the Aunts and her cousin. And the human teens are pretty good characters just starting their own developments.

I do agree that Sabrina is a weak link and I think the problem is that she's too often... right. She does things for the right intentions, but it all works out eventually for the most part and she suffers little for it. Even in the Harvey situation, I'm not quite sure where the show sides. Was Sabrina wrong to interfere at all? Also, if you can't wrongfully take a life, why weren't the wieird sisters punished for taking the brother's? Also, if the message we're getting is to use magic and your abilities, but not when its 'wrong' to, what is the line here?

Its not 'bad' persey as the show seems to want to engage with these things later on and its ok to not, you know, get to all the answers and development right away. But its not perfect either and could go either way.

Also, I did NOT like that the wierd sisters seemed to be on relativly good terms with Sabrina in the Holiday Special.

Sorry. People who just casually insult people and think nothing of it just get on my nerves. If you're going to respond to someone, opening up with a line that strongly implies the other person is crazy or full of shit is a really rude and obnoxious way to go about it. Especially if your goal is anything other than "start a fight." Yet this kind of random, uncalled for incivility is rampant on the internet.
