Same. I feel Just Cause may be the most overlooked open world series. Past the 1st game they just keep getting better. If only the 3rd game ran well I think more people would be talking about this one.
"Love, love will tear us apart, again."3rd game I tried to get into; but the damn thing is so fiddly to control. I can't get the hang of gamepad and K+M is tricky. Also, and this sounds SO OLD, it's TOO open for me. Clearly I am now "past it".
There will be no multiplayer functionality on launch.
Awww, dammit... what the heck, Avalanche?! You've known that your fanbase has been wanting co-op for some time now!

If one game series could use cheap tacked-on multiplayer it's Just Cause.
I'm still going to get it though; I'm fine with "Just" getting a massive open world that dares me to do the craziest stunts possible.
It seems they're running with the DLC's more futuristic trappings, which is good. Gimme as many robots to shoot as you can!
Bleye knows Sabers.I'm perfectly fine with jsut single player as well.
Optimism is a duty.I wouldn’t mind co-op/multiplayer since my brother-in-law really enjoys these games, but I’m also fine with just single player.
I’m more concerned with how well it will run, considering 3’s performance on PS 4
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyI only will play it if Rico goes back to fighting crooked regimes for the even more crooked CIA.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. This time he's apparently fighting the Black Hand, a PMC organization that's been dogging him ever since the first game. They were also the DLC enemies from JC 3 and have access to the eDen Corporation's old catalog of weapons and technology, hence why we're seeing armored jeeps that can turn invisible, drones, modern military vehicles, etc.
This also means the Skyfortress from the JC 3 Air DLC might make a return - makes sense, why the hell would the Black Hand want to leave such an advanced piece of technology floating aimlessly in the Mediterranean? Or heck, come to think of it, the Sea DLC might even explain the out-of-control weather as being a failed experiment to replicate what eDen Corp built back in Medici.
Watch Rico chase a tornado and railgun a wind cannon in new Just Cause 4 video
Man, how did I miss this update, it's about a frigging videogame tornado!
These games keep getting crazier and we’re better off for it.
Crazier is not neccesarily always better, as Saints Row has shown.
Optimism is a duty. No, that got so crazy it changed genres from GTA sandbox into another Infamous game. I would imagine they won’t go that far.
The trailer seems to claim that the debris from that tornado is dynamically generated and realistically modeled, but there are just a few too many dramatic near misses in that chase scene for me to believe that. I suspect that there will still be some amount of scripting going on for missions like that, like that very convenient ramp falling down, or the bridge collapsing but not blocking the path of the chase.
Optimism is a duty.Avalanche put out a 19-minute gameplay trailer during the Games Com convention last month. Figured I'd share it up here, its the most informative video so far.

Another oversized sandbox. As if JC 3 wasn't huge enough. At least you have some fast means of transportation.
The notion that you have "four million" different ways to configure something is ridiculous. Sure, it is "technically" correct, but in practice, everyone is going for the optimal configuration, and in reality, these configurations will look quite similar from player to player.
I had to laugh a bit at that "if you can think of it, you can do it" part, which is of course only true if the developer happened to have thought of it and implemented it as well.

Optimism is a duty.Depends on how much leeway or weird, wonky physics the developer intentionally leaves in the game. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild had some crazy shortcuts and exploits for those who could figure out how to exploit the stasis and magnesis abilities, with one of my favorites being the exploit that involves putting a crate or slab into a mine cart, and then using magnesis on the minecart while standing on the object inside of it. Boom, free hover transportation around Hyrule for as long as you hold down the magnesis button!
And given that Just Cause 4 is going to be a singleplayer-only game again, that means the devs don't need to worry about multiplayer balance or patching out such ridiculous exploits. So I wouldn't rule out the game's creativity yet.

This fucking trailer. Jesus!
WHY THE FUCK ISN'T THERE A PROPER PAGE FOR 4 YET???
If Sirin was the main protagonist... Kinda, anyway.Always bounced off the JC series... not sure why. Think i found the zip wire / suit / gameplay loop a bit unforgiving.
That looks amazing but it is CGI - wonder how linear the missions will be with dodging debris etc.
I'll find out come December. I know it goes against the rules when buying PC games, especially these days with all of the glitches and unexpected problems modern games have, but I'm buying JC 4 on day one - the previous release didn't let me down, and this looks to be more of the same but better, so that's a very good sign.
Still... why no co-op multiplayer?!
Mmm. Tearing up Solis with another player, oooh, yes.
If Sirin was the main protagonist... Kinda, anyway.A bit late but - Just Cause 4
Well, the game is out now and I've had some time with it. Some quick thoughts:
- It seems as if Avalanche Studios liked what they achieved in JC 3, because the game essentially feels like its predecessor, but with more polish, far better PC performance and load times, and more gimmicks added. The biggest improvement seems to be with the gunfights; you're now encouraged to fight it out on foot more frequently in order to deal with enemies who are now more likely to use cover AND keep a roof above their hands in order to avoid you raining death from above.
- Weeeell... most of the time. Dunno why, but the typical fortified guard towers posted in every single stronghold throughout Solis is their brain-kryptonite; the guards suddenly get REALLY stupid and will try to rush the tower, often taking routes with little cover and with zero means of actually scaling the tower to the top. Oh, and they'll try to throw grenades, only for them to bounce off the guard tower walkway and land right back down, next to them.
- The story is pure meh, don't expect anything more in depth from what the previous games offered. You're here to blow the crap outta everything with red stripes on it, after all.
- I'm not sure if this is intentional, but I'm beginning to think the developers might deliberately be changing the visual appearances, backstories and more of characters in order to mimic how the James Bond tends to change somewhat between every few movies due to new actors, cultural trends, etc. It would explain the massive overhaul given to Rico's long-time agency contact/handler, Tom Sheldon. This is the biggest change to the guy yet, ranging from personality to voicework.
- Can't they hire the same voice actor for Rico Rodriguez? It's the fourth time the guy has been given a new voice, yet he's roughly the same version of Rico from JC 3.
- The cinematic animations are iffy at times too. A good example of this would be the NPC choreography for the rebel fighters early in the game during the confrontation between Rico and Morales; when the Black Hand return fire with the gunships, the reaction from the rebels struck by the gunfire seems more akin to an actor whose timing and reaction to being shot is what B-movie material and occasionally a bit wonky too.
Don't take my critisms to mean JC 4 is a waste of time. To the contrary, I'm having fun taking over Solis base by base and causing as much chaos as possible. Just don't expect a huge revolution to the gameplay, especially if coming from JC 3.
Kharak seems to share most of the opinions I have, and as always his reviews are solid. Give him a watch, if you want a good review of what to expect from JC 4:
Ok, now THIS title I'm hyped for. JC 2 and 3 were excellent games, and from the looks of things it seems like the developers realize that insane chaos is at the heart of what makes the games great, so that's fantastic.
Now all I'm hoping for them to announce is that you can play the campaign with a co-op buddy, and this sucker is gonna be legit GOTY material!
