I personally am waiting for Next game or games myself.
I feel that, if the next game does indicate Nomura won't be restricted to Disney worlds only, the games onward can only get better in terms of being fun.
That, and he can actually go all out with his Crazy ride by using more Square based properties than the more restrictive disney properties.
The closest we get to true batshit insanity from the movie adaptation worlds (Tangled and Frozen) were the crazy Dinsey heartless bosses at the end.
Fighting a tree monster while King Kong Climbing Rapunzel's tower and a Norse Wolf monster who literally swallows the sun and threatens to Gongen Wyzen crush you with it is worth their worlds, really.
Plus, if we do get Shibuya, fighting both Heartless, and Their Shibuya Counterparts with the Noise at the same time will be a treat. a Noise Heartless fusion as a boss would be great, and having the added Reapers Game Cosmology to the KH verse will be interesting.

Watch SymphogearOkay, so Xehanort already had his hands on more than enough Replicas, and thus Even could do no harm by working as a Double Agent. If anything, his actions saved Demyx from being used as a vessel for Xehanort. I still don't get why they went along with being members of the Organization knowing what Xehanort intended to use them for, but Even at least was prepared to sacrifice himself to atone for his crimes.
Even so, at no point does anybody consider trying to get Maleficent to fight the Organization. It's not like she's on Xehanort's side; back in The World That Never Was, she even tried siccing a swarm of Heartless on Xemnas. Maleficent certainly could've proven to be a Spanner in the Works, as it does Xehanort no good for the Organization to clash with rival forces of darkness.
Shockingly consistent for my tastes in games, but I tend to have fun when I have a good story. Not well written because my God does the dialogue get bad. But at least a good story and a good emotional core. 358/2 and BBS have been my favorites because they told the story they wanted to and did so well enough.
Again, I ask, what am I supposed to be enjoying here?
Heck, growing up with KH, I've had dozens of friends over the years who played the series and we'd message to talk when something new came out.
I'm literally the only one playing KH 3 still. And I think that says a lot that even life long fans of the series are just... not finishing it even after all the other games.
all my old online friends who played kh are playing 3, there's not a lot because it was niche in the first place but still, like I have seen a lot of people have a bit of quibbles with some parts of 3 but not literally everything, mostly pacing problems and the kairi stuff.

Over 5 million Units sold in its first week isn't little. Thats 1.3 million more than the first few days of FF VX.
Saying not many people are playing KH 3 is laughable at best.
Watch SymphogearI agree with you on Days but BBS for me was one of my biggest disappointments with the series. Terra and Aqua's voice acting, combined with the overall stilted and borderline amateur writing of all of TAV's scenes together, pretty much killed whatever investment I had in them as characters. So I found it kind of difficult to care about the story based on that alone.

I think ink dagger is saying not a lot of people are finishing it
also ink dagger you actually seemed to be enjoying yourself until the train and then you doubled shitting on the game, idk it seemed like you were letting yourself like it and then came a thing you didnt like and you no longer enjoyed it which is understandable I guess.

It's true people aren't finishing KH 3, fwiw. On the ps4, last time I checked, less than 50% of players have completed Arendelle, which is the largest nosedive in completion %.
I have no idea how that compares to the average game, though, to be fair.
To be fair, I think it's normal for the majority of people to buy a game and not finish it. I'm not really sure that says anything about KH 3 in particular.
I think BBS was interesting aside from the scenes that Terra, Aqua, and Ventus had together.
It's been 3000 years…BBS suffers, I think, from TAV being forced to constantly hold the idiot ball. The voice acting really doesn't help either.
Trophy percentages are usually a pretty poor way of judging stuff like that as the more people play a game, the smaller the percentages will be.
I recall hearing about one game (God of War I think) that had around a 60% completion judged by trophies and that was considered abnormally large.
This song needs more love. It's a bit hard to separate the bad VA from their characterization to an extent since the former would have added some dimension to the latter if it was good, but I also think that stuff like Terra looking like a moron instead of someone who they care about that makes bad choices is an issue.
People frequently compare him to Anakin for obvious reasons, but at least Sheev was a lot more convincing as someone you can trust in-story, because only the audience gets to see him being Sidious. The front he puts up for everyone else is very genial and fatherly, so it's no wonder Anakin trusts him.
Yeah, considering the number of people and the overall % thus far it seems to actually compare pretty favourably.
Reminds me of all those fighting games where only 3% of players have ever won an online match.

Units sold is a terrible way to determine if people like a game or not. All that means is that the marketing team and the previous entries in a series were enough to get people to buy it.
I'm talking about people finishing it. Friends from high school that played BBS with me or my brother-in-law who finally connected with me over KH 3 or all my college friends who were sitting around flipping out 'OH SHIT ITS FINALLY HAPPENING'.
None of them are finishing the game. All of them gave up. And that's saying a lot for people who've been playing the series since childhood and played every single game since and replayed all the HD Remasters leading up to KH 3. That they all just are suddenly not completing it?
And, yes, I was rather enjoying myself for a bit. Because the game was finally moving forward and actually doing something. The logical problem is that we're in the last level and the game goes 'Oh, right, I have 5 billion storylines I need to wrap up and have put no development or screentime into'.
But I enjoyed the billion heartless battle that they gave me. Sure, I cringed at the frame-rate cutting in the background and just 'Oh shit, I have way too many reaction commands'. The battle felt good. It was easy, but it felt fun. I was having a blast killing the heartless. So being forced to drag that in just kills my mood.
It died because I'm sticking to my guns that the attraction commands are tone killers. They're dumb. They're never explained. You're fighting with a literal rollercoaster. Or defeating the Nightmarish Captain of the Flying Dutchman with a Mery-Go-Round. Its stupid. And, of those friends I mentioned earlier that just gave up? Without knowing each other, every one of them have consistently asked me if there was a way to turn off the attraction commands.
sorry bro that sucks to hear. sad that your friends lost the will to finish and you are keeping playing something you dont enjoy and just keep updating us on how much you hate it.
It's not perfect but I enjoyed my time more than I did for 2 the disney worlds were amazing to look at and travel through and tone hasnt been a problem for me since I shoot off fireworks with donald in a bosses face.
also did they all give up because they didn't like the game or because they are older now and don't have as much time to donate to a game as they did years ago? I've been playing it really slow and so has my roommate because we are both adults with jobs and lives now and can't just play non stop like we used too.
also I am sorry if I come across as harsh or mean ink dagger i've got a bit of a headache today which is also stopping me from playing kh3 and I might not be wording my post how I want it to come across, I am legitimately sad that your and your friends no longer enjoy this series, and hope that you can find some enjoyment out of it in some way

Or else just walk away.
If you're hating it, continuing to play it and seeking validation of that feeling from people who did enjoy it seems like the worst of both worlds.
I have a message from another time...I mean there are definitely a lot of people who feel the same as ink dagger, and they might not even necessarily by wrong but I think the overall feeling is a good but flawed game. I don't know maybe if I had played kh 2fm I would feel differently, but I never did
It's not a good sign when the game that is supposed to be the resolution of stuff in the games before it and is supposed to have built upon and improved the gameplay mechanics from previous games causes burnout in some longtime fans.
It's not an Ultima IX level disappointment of course, but it's still not encouraging.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI do think a lot of it from the people I have seen disappointed other places is they built it up in their minds so much that there was no way anything would live up to it even if it was perfect which is isn't, like I like the game but the pacing's fucked there is no middle, how it treats some characters is just bad. so you combine that with 13 years and built up expectations and yeah a decent chunk of people are gonna be disappointed.
but this game and it's story and characters have had me hooked since my first kh game com, and I am still on board even if I am more critical of the series now than I was at 13/14

High expectations are nigh inevitable when you've got a long development cycle and hype.

Disgusted, but not surprisedHaving not played it myself and just watched cutscenes, the only story disappointment I have is Kairi being fridged and every other character besides Sora being done dirty too. KH has never been something I expected good writing from, so the bar was pretty low in my head.
The dev cycle proper for KH 3 was like 5 years, which is not that long. It's just that it was a long time between it and KH 2 where a bunch of other games got released that people assumed were unimportant.

I did find it funny how Xehanort changed his ultimate plan. Rather than go for some nebulous balance between Light and Darkness he simply decided "Nah, I'll just use the Light to purge everything."
Disgusted, but not surprised
@ 4 pages ago with the Kairi DLC.
Personally I wanna see Sora screw up and get himself into real trouble trying to save Kairi, who didn't actually need saving, only for playable Kairi to save him.
Flip that Chronic Hero Syndrome on him.
