Final Fantasy Infinity Redux

(Sinister factory: [1] )

The guards at the entrance nodded at Hector and let him in, no questions asked.

Inside, he passes by many other guards and workers unnoticed.

The first area of the facility, he notices, is where the empire's weapons are produced. There are many cranes and conveyor belts.

But then he makes a shocking discovery in an inner area- people of various races stuck inside crystal tubes! He cannot tell what is being done to them but they don't look well. The tubes are hooked to a nearby machine, which can be seen spitting out magicite crystals.

Suddenly he heard a shrill voice say, "What do you mean you didn't bring the Thamasans!?"

If he peeks around a corner, he would see a sergeant-type arguing with a craven-looking man wearing a bizarre cloak.

"Lord Kefka, they had help from unusually strong individuals! Even our Magitek Knight was useless!"

"Feh! You're all useless! I'll go deal with them myself! Prepare the largest squadron you can! We leave as soon as its ready!"

[[Hector should sneak back out and report all this. He can also try to sabotage the machinery and grab some magicite along the way.]]

"Ooh, none of this looks good.

Hector peeks around the corner and hears the conversation.

"And that's double not good... I got to report this back to Strago and the gang..."

Hector started the way he came.

In the meantime, Marcia was praying for Hector's safety. She hoped that Hector would pull off this plan without a hitch. Then again, Murphy's Law would tear its ugly head at the last moment.

"By the Espers!!" Strago swore, once Hector had returned to their hiding spot and revealed the horrors he had seen inside the plant. "They are extracting Mana from people to make Magicite!?"

"That's why they want the Thamasans- because of our natural magical abilities!" he explained angrily. "We have got to rescue those inside! But how?"

A beat, as he thought about it.

"...OK. First of all, we must warn the Thamasans about the second attack, so they can evacuate. Then, once most of the soldiers are gone, we attack and free the prisoners inside."

"But, this means one of us is going to have to go back to town alone to warn them, right now."

"Any volunteers?"

"I will," exclaims Marcia. "I can, um, fly to t-town and be back...back before y-you realize I was, um, gone!"

"Go then! We will wait for you here!" Strago agreed.

"Al-alright, Mr. Magus! I'll d-do my, um, best!"

And so Marcia begins her long flight back to Thamasa. Maybe the giant birds won't think of her as a juicy snack. After all, fairies are seen as snacks by the larger winged creatures. With the training from her mom, Marcia knows how to handle these situations if it were to pass.

"T...Then I suppose it's safe to assume that the three of us are going to try and...do something? Slow them down here or...help people so they don't get the magic...whatever drawn out of them?" Croire idly remarked as the Alchemist headed back to Thamasa.

"Yes, as soon as Kefka and his soldiers leave" the Old Mage explained. "If Marcia returns by then, we'll attack together. If not, we'll have to try and rescue those people on our own."

[[I'll leave it to josh to decide if Marcia comes back in time or not. In either case, we storm the facility tomorrow. Get ready to rumble!]]

"Sounds like a plan to me. Now, if you don't mind..."

Hector did what he did before, putting on the clothes he had before.

After an hour, Marcia lands next to the others. However, she was covered in peck and bite wounds. She takes out a potion and chugs it, causing most of the wounds to vanish.

"Mission... Mission accomplished!"

"My goodness girl, what happened to- no never mind. You can tell us later" Strago said. "I commend on your efforts. Now to wait for-"

But just then, they overhead the sounds of heavy vehicles on the march. They peeked over the boulders, and saw a column of soldiers, led by Kefka, leave the base and head towards Thamasa.

"OK, this is our chance. As soon as they are out of sight, we cat."

(A short while later)

The guards in the facility's entrance saw a group of strangers, followed by two soldiers, approach.

"What is going on?" one of them asked.

"W-we caught these s-spies and are b-bringing them in" Biggs said.

"...Why are you so nervous?"

CHOCOBALL!

In-between Strago's bolt of magical feathers and the rest of the party, the two guards were down for the count before they could sound the alarm.

"Quick! Hector, take us to the laboratory!"

And so they ran across ominous factory, eliminating what little resistance they encountered. [1]

Eventually they reached the lab. They began fiddling around with the machinery, which stopped. Then they began freeing the people from the tubes; they were still weak from the experience.

Suddenly-

"HALT INTRUDERS!" a mechanical voice said.

A machine resembling a flying saucer with arms appeared! [2]

"We have been found out!" Strago cursed. "We must fight to cover the prisoners' escape!

COMBAT BEGINS

ROUND ONE

"Activating Program 17!" the robot said.

"Uh oh, that does not sound good" Strago warned.

Suddenly, it began glowing red!

"Magic-resistant aura. Darn. Well I can do you one better!"

(Casts Mighty Guard on the whole party)

As Marcia is covered by the Mighty Guard Spell, she opens up a grenade (she bought them at the item shop) and pours some of the powder into the potion she drank from earlier. She shakes up the flask to make it volatile. For a second, the others may notice that she's ecstatic as she tosses the improvised Molotov cocktail at the saucer.

[[Mix command used. This mix is known as Molotov Cocktail. It is made with a Potion and a Grenade. It can also be made with an Ether and a Grenade. Deals fire damage to all enemies and a chance to inflict the burn status effect.]]

"I-I guess it's a good thing I'm not m-much for offensive magic..."

It definitely didn't look undead, so Dia wouldn't do anything anyway. And part of them seemed to regret not waking up with some sort of hammer. Still, spinning that Power Staff in their hands made them realize they really only had one option.

And that was trying to clobber that Chaser with their staff.

You know, we have 3 mages of varying positions on the sliding scale of offense and defense, and then we have the fusion of Azrael and Ralf.

"Come get some then!"

Hector simply dashed up and tried to strike multiple times.

[[Hector simply uses Attack. Thrice.]]

K-Boom! went Marcia's grenade. Its impressive explosion however, was diminished by the robot's aura.

"TWHACK!" went Croire's Power Staff against the robot's metal hide.

Hector's punches were a bit more effective. TWONG TWONG TWONG!!

The 'saucer' wavered in the air for moment, then righted itself.

"DISCHORD" it suddenly uttered. Waves of energy struck Strago!

"Uh-UH!! I feel- weak..."

ROUND ONE OVER

ROUND TWO BEGINS

Must... do something before... I grow too weak Strago thought. Once again, he took and deep breath, and shouted,

AQUA BREATH!

A shower of bubbles came out of his mouth, covering the robot!

POOM POOM POOM! They blew all over him!

"ZRAAPP!!" the water (and the impacts) heavily damage it!

It crashes to the floor, seeming deactivated.

But-

"....ASSISTANCE REQUIRED" it muttered, before turning off.

-suddenly-

.*clank clank clank*

three more robots, these ones suspended from chains, were lowered in from somewhere above! [2]

"...Oh you have to be kidding me"

Hector jumps back an winds up a punch.

"Get them in a line in front of me! I got a plan."

Hector charges up his Limit Break, Galactica Phantom. it will be a lunge moving in a straight line that, if lucky, might go through all three enemies.

Round 2

"Roger that", replies Marcia as she gives Hector a huge thumbs up for coming up with a plan.

Marcia would attempt to distract the three robots by flanking them from behind with her rapier. They look pretty cute if they weren't attached to those chains. Maybe Marcia could pick one of those up as a souvenir after the fight's done.

"R...Right, got it...!"

Scrambling back for cover and trying not to trip over their robes as Hector looked like he was winding up for one heck of a punch at more of those...metal things. Machines...?

It didn't take them long to figure out what a potential weakness could be...but considering their abilities, Croire kept quiet. They weren't that sort of mage after all.

[[Def Revenge: remember that Limit Breaks can only be used when badly injured, when desperate, or some other particular, extreme trigger]]

The team's tactic seemed to work, as the hanging robots followed everyone with their unblinking gazes as they moved around.

However, they also said aloud "BEGINNING ANALYSIS FOR PROPER ATTACK PROGRAM"

[[Players: choose a number from 1 to 5 each. This might not be necessary if Hector finishes them off, but just in case]]

Seeing as Strago is tired from that earlier Aqua Breath, she hands him an Ether laced with her special ingredients.

"Drink up... You, um, need the s-strength to fight back!"

[[Use Ether on Strago. Marcia's number is 2.]]

"...This can't be good."

Taking up a defensive stance, the White Mage knew it wouldn't help much if they got blasted by magic, but there wasn't many other options. Trying to hit one of those machines now when they were clearly about to do something could go very poorly, after all.

(Croire's lucky/unlucky number is 4.)

Unfortunately, the young fighter took too long to get ready, giving the machines the chance to act!

"ACTIVATING FLARE LEVEL 4"

Suddenly, both Strago and Cloire were bathed in bright energy explosions!! It ignores their protection, and hurts them badly!! [1]

''YAAAAHH!!"

ROUND 2 Ends

ROUND 3 Begins!

"u-gh... won't... last... much... longer" Strago mumbles. Must. Destroy. These. Things!!

He felt his growing desperation turn into internal power!.

"Take THIS, you tin cans!!"

LIMIT BREAK: SABRE SOUL!

A shower of stars and half-moons came out of Strago's extended hands and struck one of the robots!

It fell to the floor, deactivated!

Marcia gasped! Those things had harmed her friends. Seeing as that saucer easily tanked the last mixture, this one must be extra deadly. The motto of an alchemist is that there's no such thing as overkill, ya know.

Marcia took out a pair of grenades and poured the contents of both into a single flask. She shook it really hard and chucked the flask at the remaining spheres.

Hey now, you just hurt my friendos! I won't stand for that!"

"Threat Identified: Tifa Lockhart."

OH, THAT'S ABOUT IT!"

Hector lunged forward, fist outstretched and powerful as all hell. If it hit, it would probably tear through the bots like paper mache.
