@Shlugo True... I mean, I won't gonna lie that sometimes rushed productions can make some fans angry. Take a look at some of them getting angry after reacting to some of the arcs in Slime getting rushed af especially when the anime skipping the World Building section. But I can't blame the producers due to committee's interference.

Or Karakuri Circus which skipped a lot of arc due to cramming it into 36 Episodes but oh well

Episode 24: And omake about Shizue and Diablo

I dunno, it was nice to see Shizue again, but this episode didn't do much interesting beyond that, and it feel like a waste when so much of the main story got skipped.

Episode 24 a.k.a. The original story of Shizue and Diablo:

Today's episode focuses on Shizu when she was alive and well, I thought that Diablo is a rather evil demon when we saw him the first time but it seems that he's morally grey and has a bit of attachments towards Shizu which is understandable. And why I'm not surprised that the staff of the Kingdom that Shizu visited turned out to be some shady guys especially it was led by a Knight who is revealed to be a demon and intends to slaughter all of the adventurers present in the castle so yeah... Also, the story ends on Diablo seeing through crystall ball regarding Rimuru

Diablo is just another evil demon so far as I'm aware unless they changed his personality. He just happens to be fanatically loyal to Rimuru.

Episode 25:

The only thing positive I could say about this episode is well... The moment when Veldora and Ifrit are playing Shogi and their interactions seems alright at best. The rest of the episode? It feels like a mediocre time waster as it is basically a recap at what happened in previous episodes but only with Veldora and there's nothing new to add regarding the episode. Yeah, I could say that it was a bit of a disappointing ending.

Anyways, Final Thoughts on the show for the first season? I actually quite like it in the first half. It seems that the crew who create the anime also tries at their best to create more love for the anime and they did. But when the second-half hits especially after the Orc-Lord disaster arc? The quality suddenly meanders a bit and the anime itself feels rather rushed. Though I will say that Milim is still the positive thing of the show, feels that I would love to see her more.

I honestly can't blame the crew who are totally tries at their best to put their effort to the show. Most of it goes to the committee who ordered the show to be rushed. Overall, the show seems to truly showed a promise but meanders a bit at the second half.

I honestly give this show 7-8 out of 10 points but that's me being generous and despite the seemingly negative thing that I say? I definitely look forward to the Second Season due to Slime being one of my passionate anime to look for. Also, I discuss with Doomrider on Discord and I actually agree if the second season has an In Medias Res feel about it especially to explain what we are missing like the World-Building or unsolved questions like the demon lord meeting in general unless if the people behind Slime wants to make an OVA based on it. But only time will tell and I'm truly scared on what will happen at Second Season.

Episode 25 was not very good, but didn't really expect it to be. There was no way they could've fit the extensive Veldora POV sections into one episode. Simply couldn't be done.

This anime really is a result of people being passionate about the source material clashing with idiotic demands of committee. You can tell the places where each side got their way. I hope we get some OVA that fill in some blanks before the second season comes out.

@Shlugo I kind of agree with that statement. This is probably one of the cases where the needs are clashing altogether despite the crews are passionate about the anime. Like I said, the anime definitely had a potential and heck, I would love to call it another Kyo Kara Maoh cuz why naut but yeah... The anime itself feels rather rushed in second half. That's why I said that a delayed things are better than rushed things. But even then, that would be interesting if the In Medias Res or another OVA to expand the story did happen in the future.

Pretty much which is rather interesting needless to say. In the west however, I'm not so sure considered the anime is kind of errrr... Meanders in second half and getting overshadowed with the likes of Goblin Slayer or The Rising Shield Hero

Seriously tho, Slime Tensei was among top 10 best selling manga of 2018. Not only is it the only isekai manga on the list, as far as I can tell it's the only LN adaptation manga to ever make top 10, ever.

Slime is a juggernaut.

Anyone feel that Unfortunate Implications should be added to the trope page? The whole thing of Rimuru uplifting monster races into generic-looking cute monster girls and creating an empire has heavy connotations of Mighty Whitey, cultural assimilation, and whitewashing.

Goblin Slayer wasn't that good and Rising of the Shield Hero is bleh so ignore what westerners think.

Slime has better Goblins anywas. Overlord has better Goblins.

No because the Ogres were already Japanese inspired by the way they dressed alone, he befriended the Goblins God Veldora(and hes become an Otaku looking at things in Rimurus head) and the Goblins were under threat of extermination and had no cultre beyond worshipping Veldora, and he doesn't fall into the toxic mentality of Japanese nationalism as they build the city.

Its been brought up before either here or the Isekai thread. It was nonsense then and itll be nonsense now.

@Omega Radiance Come to think of it, I might gonna side with you tbh.

Rimuru is causing a rapid rush of civilization for the goblins, but thats only natural. The goblins were intelligent enough for that, they just didn't live long enough due to short lifespans to grow a culture.

Cultures influencing and causing growth by trading and interarcting with cultures is indeed something that happens in rl despite what some may think. The few isolated tribes that haven't advanced like the rest of the world did so because of their isolation, and its been found a few even lost basic skills over generations.

Its why something like Black Panthers Wakanda wouldn't work in real life due to the isolation. But thats a form of realism I don't need in most media I like so screw it.

The whole thing is from a few pages back from a discussion on Something Awful about colonialism. The consensus was no, it wasn't colonism apologia since Rimuru isn't exploiting the Forest or any of the tribes nor lording his culture as being superior or the "correct" way of doing things.

Nor does he act like America were big meanies and glorious Nippon dindu nuffin. Only that they've come a lot from that war without trying to paint either side as bad.

I don't even recall him commenting on any of those things at all outside of showing Shizu how Japan recovered after the war and some stuff in the LN's about Spiderman, how the US had skyscrapers way before Japan did while they still had single story wooden structures, and I'm not sure if it was originally there, but he also references Lot R on his first day on Englesia. He also makes mention of government bodies like the UN and whatnot. Closest thing he does to make a bump in favor of Japan is saying that some details about the Socery Dynasty of Sarion remind him of Japan and it makes him interested in visiting it.
