If so, it isn't wrong
Exactly how fast is Starlight Spear??
Mainly curious because we saw her run off in the previous strip after a brief moment when they noticed the flare go off and now here she finds Mrs. Watanabe who fired the flare dead.
I think that very top panel is meant to answer that question with "really fast"
I demand actual calculations based on these panels!
"more than a light contact wound"
Whoooof.
Seeing Mrs. Watanabe (which, if she's Mitsuki's mother, answers my question on whether Kokoro is using her father's name or not) gave me a thought: When we've seen Undine think about Sally, Gwen, and Sylvia, we've seen them as empty eyed or otherwise horrific looking.
That's easy to write off as Undine's Survivor Guilt, but after seeing Mrs. Watanabe, what if that's what they actually looked like after being killed, and that's the image Undine has stuck in her head because that's the last time she saw them?
Speaking of Survivor Guilt, Kokoro once said that she fights alone so that, if she screws up, she's the only one hurt. What if she views Mitsuki's becoming pregnant as her screw up, and one that cost her family and friends their lives?
Alternatively, what if someone who was hiding from the monster died because baby Kokoro started crying and revealed them? She'd have, in her own mind, a screw-up that cost others badly.

Looking back, the three dead Alchemicals all have their eyes obscured when we see them, so it's definitely possible.
It's also likely that the monsters will go out of their way to target a Magical Girl baby, so Kokoro's birth is the reason her family was targeted and anyone fighting with her is at extra risk. It'd make sense that she'd share that with Undine right after learning that people who fight alongside her are also at extra risk.

Well that looks cheerful!

"She didn't know it at the time, but my grandpa was also there... under the ice."
Wonder if Kokoro and Team Starlight get along, or either side feels too much crushing guilt over what happened to really talk to each other
Assuming they're both still around at all, I could see it as an Honorary Uncle situation. Though I could also see the Spears keeping their distance after what happened like you suggest
Do we see a lot of former magical girls, come to think of it? I wonder how much contact they keep with up-and-comers after they've aged out of the game.
Or how much the current generation might care about past magical girls. Undine seemed surprised Zoe's sister's fans were still active even though the girl herself went inactive years ago.
Oh boy. It hasn't been explicitly stated, but judging by color themes, Kokoro's mom's element might be ice. Which would mean she killed her father during the attack.
Mitsuki didn't have her powers. She lost them when Kokoro was born.
Barring some kind of Madoka reveal, the ice can't be hers.

:(
they're gonna find intelligent life up there on the moon/and the canterbury tales will shoot up to the top of the best-seller listJesus fuck. D:
oh no
oh nooooooooooooo
but also where are the characters for Starlight Spear's name because there's No Pronunciation Guide for the tones!
.....I think we just found our page image for the nightmare fuel page......
Eee-yup, and a possible first entry for Fridge Horror, since I think this lends credence to my thought that we see Gwen, Sally, and Sylvia's eyes blanked or blacked out whenever Undine thinks of them because that is what they looked like.
Also, someone posted this in Meaningful Name for Team Spear on the character sheet. Might be helpful with the question
Another bit of Fridge Horror for ya: The Alt Text says "cried her eyes out". Could easily be referring to Starlight, but what if it's Mitsuki and it's meant literally.

Well that was a nice image to come back to after a week without internet.
Anyhow, I presume Kokoro blames herself for that, then. Since, you know, her mother would still have her powers if she hadn't been born. Sort of how people whose mothers died at childbirth sometimes blame themselves for that.
Can't help but notice that Mitsuki has Dead Anime Mom hair in the one panel of her and Kokoro... She sealed her own fate.
Here;s something I just thought of. This puts the incident with Mr Smiles in an entirely new light. Imagine having your family be all but wiped out due to a moster breaking through the barrier, and then having to respond to something so similar...

I was so angsty about it my costume had BLACK in it!

I wonder if the greyed-out aesthetic is because of the flashback or because that's just how the barrier decided to look that day. And if so, if the barrier can somehow sense that things are about to get bad.
