I'm intrigued.
The art and narration remind me of that rather lovely Shadowgate remake from a few years ago. The gameplay and accompanying text looks—as you say—rather like that of a gamebook (see the various adaptations of the Fighting Fantasy books, for example).
Their website describes the game as being "... a mix of a game book, a graphic experience and a GDR videogame"—do you know what a "GDR videogame" is, by any chance?
My Games & WritingI was hoping someone could tell me that...I tried looking that acronym up to no success.
Ah, I did a little digging on Twitter, and it looks as though they're Italian, and the "#gdr" tag appears in some Italian tweets. Taking a guess, I went to Google Translate and found that—according to that site—the Italian for "role playing game" is "gioco di ruolo". So, I think that they're indicating that it has elements of an RPG.
My Games & WritingSo it's a simple answer, then. Thanks for it.
My pleasure—indeed, it satisfied my own curiosity too. ^_^
My Games & WritingSorry I'm late, but I never saw an announcement anywhere else until I remembered to check their Kickstarter: The game is releasing on Steam, September 27th this year as Early Access. They say they will be finishing up and declaring it done in November.
It's good to read that it's making progress, and apparently coming close to release! I'm also glad to read that they do intend a DRM-free version, to be released in February. ^_^
My Games & WritingI forgot that the game's available for Early Access on Steam since around the end of last month, so there's that. Releasing fully in November's still the plan.

Huh found this game, seems interesting
The Italian studio Curtel Games is making yet another RPG talking of seriously significant Story Branching in it - The Ballad Singer. This one has some pretty significant differences though, not in the least that they're bold enough to name the narrative system the Domino System.
The game seems to be primarily of a visual novel format by reading through text and making your choice out of a list when available, though there's a few unique aspects that make it more game-y. The four playable protagonists are not unlike "lives" where you may start playing one after a previous died, but the new character will be inside of a world that will be affected by the ramifications of the previous' choices
and having died like a git. Choices made can apparently prevent you from playing other characters down the line too, and it's claimed dying is certainly not unlikely...it sounds like Everybody Lives, Kill Em All, and everything between that is said to all be different stories within 40 different endings for the fantasy world of Hesperia. The distinctions between characters (and one of them seems set to be a Villain Protagonist) will affect what they can do in a given situation as well. They can't all hope to fight a dragon.
The game will have music, over 700 illustrations for portraying the many situations in the now while playing, and be available in English and Italian with voice-acting to match for each character.
It had a successful Kickstarter campaign, I'm mostly telling you this because its page had music previews on it if you're interested.
Might be neat, I'm definitely curious to hear how it turns out.
