Joshua Pruett mentioned how they handed in the last scripts for the series last year. I'm not saying the show is cancelled, though it does make me curious as to how long the show will last.
Yeah, that's a good observation. And considering the book series is ongoing, it means this series will either deviate highly, or it will end earlier.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Seasons 2-3 will each have 10 episodes, and then it's the interactive special. Season 2 comes out in spring.

Huh. So, if the pilot is three episodes and the interactive special another three, then it seals the deal for this show being 26 half hours. Netflix could change its mind and renew, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Book 2 comes out April 17.
It looks more interesting now that they're adding more monsters to the series, just like the book. I just hope Jack is less irritating. Please.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).This article mentions two of the new characters in season 2, respectively voiced by Bruce Campbell and Catherine O'Hara .
Bruce Campbell- Chef
"Chef is the grouchy monster who cooks all the bizarre concoctions at Joe’s Pizza. He’s still learning how to cook with Earth food. His cuisine is less than tasty, but he challenges Dirk to competitive cook-offs!"
Catherine O'Hara- Skaelka
"This female monster was a vicious warrior in the monster dimension: scary savage and fiercely ferocious. Skaelka is extremely enthusiastic. She’s always ready to rumble and forever eager to use her ax. She is obsessed with decapitation – and is forever bummed that Jack won’t let her chop off zombie heads."
Rosario Dawson voices Rezzoch while Mark Hamill voices Bardle. The former is the main villain while the latter is an ally to the heroes .
I would have expected it to be the other way around.
I'm cool with it. Hamill's played good-aligned mentors before, but he's mostly typecast as a villain. I see Bruce Campbell's role is also more comedic than expected. I'm surprised they are introducing the main villain so early since they mentioned they were sticking close to adapting each book.
I wonder if they'll still have Thrull (Keith David's character) betraying the kids.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Yes, they do!
Just watched book two, it was weird hearing Bruce Campbell's voice coming from a giant reptilian caterpillar.
Huh? He didn't voice Wormungulus. He voiced the chef at the pizza place, but he doesn't really do much.
I finished the season and I liked it way more than the pilot. The pacing is a lot better and Jack, while still being kind of annoying, thankfully has his crush on June and his obsession with seeing everything as a video game toned down. They give him (and the others save Dirk) some good development to work with. The episode with them visiting June's house and everything post-Thrull's betrayal had some good drama.
There's still some nitpicks here and there, like the tone dissonance. Otherwise, I enjoyed it a lot more.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).The Chef looks like a mix between a lizard and a caterpillar.
Oh, gotcha.
I do find it funny that this is the second time Keith David voiced a gruff mentor that betrays the heroes near the end of the second season.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).That was good season.
How does this compare to books btw?

The show was nominated for the Leo Awards.
https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/daytime-emmys-winners-2020-sesame-street-1234716898/
The show won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program.
I really hope this doesn't come off as excessively harsh, but I do think that Last Kids On Earth winning an Emmy does not cast the Emmys in a good light. There were vastly better animated series that didn't even get nominated. The show has some good bits and bad bits, but it was hardly at the head of the pack this year. Heck, the fact that there's only two pages of discussion on the forums speaks to that.
Yeah, Carmen Sandiego was on that category and I would've given it to that show instead.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).I don't know. I think the show deserved the win. Maybe it was chosen from its themes on found family despite the show not being talked about that much. Maybe the fact that Carmen Sandiego stars a thief (no matter how well intentioned and noble she is) is what turned the Emmy people off, at least from winning an award that isn't a technical award. Plus, considering what the other nominees were in that category, it makes some sense. For the record, the other nominees were the Big City Greens Christmas special (the show and episode is well received but barely talked about), the Elena Of Avalor Magic Within special (the show and special is well received, but it's a Disney Junior show, which are barely talked about it), and Milo Murphy's Law (a mostly well received show that was treated like garbage by Disney ).

Season 3 premieres on October 16th.
Season synopsis: "As the four pals continue to live it up with their monster allies, Jack worries a newly discovered radio transmitter may put an end to the fun."
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Well, call me excited.
Here's the Book 3 trailer.
The pilot was okay. I like the premise, the monster designs, and some of the editing (Edgar Wright shots included), but I didn't like the protagonist too much. He was kind of over-eager and I really hated his creepy crush on June. At least the show acknowledged it was bad. I'll keep watching, though. It was fun enough to see some more.
I just hope it actually materializes and doesn't go missing like that The Dragon Prince game did.
