Also, it's possible to encounter random guards who can wreck you, and followers contribute ably whenever you take them along with Primrose or Ophilia.
The thing I find hilarious is that you can sic your monsters on random townsfolk, and this only hurts your reputation if you fail to beat them up.
So, now that I've created a monster, I have a gameplay related question.
I finished Primrose's chapter 2, and now I want to move onto Therions. However, when I enter Noblecourt, I'm not prompted to continue the story. Do I have to do something weird to close out Primrose's, or is there some trick to getting the prompt?
I have Therion in my active party.
Health sure is versatile. It's possible to be both light-headed and dim-witted. At the same time, no less. You should be able to start the story by just talking to the bartender there.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughJust swing by the Tavern and ask the Innkeeper to tell a story. You should be able to start Therion's chapter from there.
It's been fun.I kind of wish the journal gave more information on the quests you've racked up. If I talked to a quest-giver last week, I'm going to need a little bit more than a sentence to remind me of what I was doing!
Yup. Just give up on quests if that happens to you. I have.
It's been fun.I guess you can at least see who it is you need to talk to from that sheet. But seriously, not even recording the list of ingredients the cook needs? Come on!
Generally you can go back to talk to the quest giver and get the full breakdown again. (Sometimes).
Not ideal no.
Yeah. Quests can be very vague in this game. Like a character goes missing or something like that, but they won't give you a hint about where they went or maybe why they did. In some cases it's easy (fight this monster in a nearby dungeon or guide this person from one part of the world to another part) in other cases the game is kind of vague on who to guide them too.
That's kind of the best and worst part of this game really. It trusts you to figure things out and I grateful it doesn't hand-hold your every step like some other RP Gs, but some stuff should've been made a bit clearer. Unconscious is one of the first few status ailments I've seen in a game that doesn't require the player to be down to 0 HP. I was so confused about what my character had and ended up wasting items to figure it out.
The same could be said for jobs as well, I didn't even know they were a thing until I accidentally stumbled upon it. I guess it's a reward for players who explore a bit more, but if you just want to and complete the chapters, you can miss out on them for a while. My friend didn't even know they existed until he looked it up and he spent more time on this game than I did lol.

It would help if there was a way to make note of significant NP Cs for quests. As it is now, it could easily be dozens of hours from the player seeing (for example) the amnesiac Sunshade girl and the thug who lost his sister, so it's incredibly hard for the player to keep track.
I thought the amnesiac girl was part of a different quest and beat up the guy. Another time I thought some lady from Flamegrace was going to be important to a quest because they had almost the exact same inquiry description.
Finally finished all the chapter 3 chapters. Man that was a wild ride. Some crazy stuff happened in some chapters that I just did not see coming. Twists are a pretty prominent storytelling tool in this game and I'm surprised it didn't wear me down after the 3rd time.
In order of what I rate as entertaining so far I'd have to go with:
1) Primrose 2) Olberic 3) Therion 4) Cyrus 5) Ophelia 6) Hann't 7) Alfyn 8) Tressa
It's not that I don't like Tressa, it's just that she's very generic for a JRPG character. She's just not that interesting to me. As for Alfynn his chapters are great, but his personality does leave a bit more to be desired.

Tressa and Cyrus's chapter 2s being in the same city gave me a bit of whiplash.
I was a little bit disappointed that Olberic didn't have travel banter assessing Omar as a fighter.
Whats your favorite character theme and why is it primrose's
Haanit's my favourite. I just really love the cello.
I find it pretty interesting that both Japan and the West agreed on the four most popular and least popular characters, even if the order in those halves were different. Also, good taste world in regard to Cyrus.
I figured since this thread has died down for a while I can talk about what I thought about the story.
Overall I don't mind it being disjointed and I appreciate that every character's story is their own.If I had to rank the stories it would be Cyrus=Primrose>Olberic>Therion>Alfynn>Hann't>Ophelia>Tressa.
The reason I ranked the Cyrus and Primrose up top is because Cyrus' arc goes into the final battle and it connects the most which works well with him flowing into his story. Primrose is also on the same level because of how character driven it was. Surprisingly I found a lot of people did not like the end of her story, but honestly, I saw it as her coming to terms with the path her life has taken in a symbolic way and she does get what she wants in the end. His bosses were also pretty solid too, but kind of lacked in variety.
Olberic is just a really solid story altogether, but the main villain's motivation in his arc rings hollow unless you play the final boss, which honestly makes it one of the worst final bosses. As Olberic states, "A gate?!" Strong story, not so strong boss.
Therion is pretty straightforward, but his banter and impressions are enjoyable to the very end. And it proves that despite his past, he changes to be a better person unlike someone else he knew.
Alfynn is also pretty good for the fact that his story constantly questions his motives is refreshing as I thought his arc would easily be the most generic "good guy does good things" stuff. But reality does kick in a good way. Really his arc is not just about healing the body, but the mind of others as well.
Hann't is also good. Straightforward but a nice clean ending.
Tressa is simply the worst for the fact that her story is really generic. Like, it was clearly made for beginners in mind. Not that I hate Tressa as a character, but her bosses are just really not anything to speak about. And her final boss is easily THE WORST. Not because it sucks, but because it comes out of nowhere. Like, of all the things they chose to use, they went with something really bizarre. Anytime time I think of generic JRPG hijinks I think of her route.
Overall, it's pretty good.
Ouroboros had more character depth than the Dead Space blob in this game.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."(Okay who was fondling that money paw?)
Jokes aside, if they go easy on the micro-transactions this could still be neat, the removal of the Arbitrary Headcount Limit is a welcome addition at least.

Also bear in mind that this is a world where everyone of age carries weapons to use if a random knight suddenly declares a duel.
