I think that Surge was the first major female villain that they had for the franchise, so her appearance was a pretty big deal.

Well, there was Merlina, but that was more of an Anti-Villain thing.

Aside from her the only other ones I can think of offhand are Witchcart, Carrotia, Zeena, and Wave, so Surge definitely filled a niche.

Carrotia is one of Witchcart's henchmen. She's a lazy bunny who flies around in a carrot-themed airship.

I'll say Tracey didn't bring his A-game with her, but eh, some of Tracey's mobian designs (or, just modern redesigns) feel like recolors using another character as a basis.

I'm speaking of Bark, he looks like Knuckles.

Sonic Prime is getting a comic book adaptation from IDW.

Odd, I heard it was an adaptation from Netflix.

It gives the vibes it is gonna be a comic book with screenshots of the show. Anime movies and some anime series have those. They are mostly glorified collector's items.

Perhaps, but it's best to wait and see first instead of making that assumption.

New solicitation for Issue #70

Extreme Gear race continues, and Mysterrrious Competitor named Phantom Rider that reminds me a bit of that one Sonic X Archie Robot that copied abilities.

Imagine if the Phantom Rider was someone from the Classic Era like Mighty. That'd make people's heads spin, wouldn't it?

I do wonder if SEGA will ever allow Mighty and Ray to be in the modern stories.

I hope so too. I mean, an episode of TailsTube tieing in to the Classic-era Sonic Superstars did make an implication that he's somewhere out there (Or was it an episode of BumbleKast? I forget…), so something will have to give eventually, right?

May 15 is when the main book is coming back swinging with Issue 69 and a Sonic Riders-inspired plot.

Imagine if the Fang gang ended up warped through space and time all the way to the Modern Era and that was used as an explanation as to why Sonic hasn't seen them in years.

…The Warp Topaz was the fabled eighth Chaos Emerald? Well, shoot. That's actually a pretty cool reveal.

I'm gonna be very, very surprised if this won't act as an "in" to bring Classic-Era characters into the Modern era once and for all.

Eh, not exactly. The Warp Topaz is pointedly not a Chaos Emerald, though Fang first believed it was.

I'm still convinced the Warp Topaz will be used in some capacity to explain why we haven't seen Classic-era characters who aren't Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and Eggman. (What if it was Fang who wrote that message in the cave Sonic left the Warp Topaz at?)
