Jacob would hurriedly pass his ticket to the collector, put the clothing bag in the luggage, and board, before sitting down.

Then, his hand reached into the space between spaces.

His third bag would appear in his hand, hopefully alone. It'd be a shame if he dragged along another idiot, bird, bench, or piece of the floor.

With that out of the way, he'd give a yawn, before opening the second bag.

Really. You're going to read a book. This train is full of people to talk to. Chicks, even. And you are reading- Wait, are you telling me the main character and the redhead get together? That is such utter-

Jacob would turn, looking around the train, before returning to his book.

Christian upon getting on the train looks around. He pulls himself and his suitcase over to one of the few remaining seats next to Jacob. Awkwardly he looks around too. Looking rather nervous at the various sorcerers around. Self doubt being likely one of the youngest here.

"I wonder what everyone else's powers are.. Hope nobodies a jerk with them. Hard enough to deal with them without them magic." He thinks to himself, hoodie up over his head still.

The middleschooler anxiously looks to Jacob besides him, and checks what he's reading. Looking away again after. Shrunk into his seat with his backpack. He was trying to not be noticed much.

Well...

Dahlia was at the very least impressed, though she also couldn't help but wonder what might happen if this place didn't have any cloud cover.

Once the car landed and Dahlia did whatever she needed to do before getting out, she stepped out of the car with her belongings. The air, for the most part, seemed surprisingly normal, and that was strange in and of itself. She just assumed there was some sort of magical atmosphere that kept air pressure at ground levels around here.

She instinctively reached out with her parasol to feel the ground around her, even though she could see it fine for the most part.

"Now," she said to no one in particular, "just where the hell am I supposed to go?"

Dahlia began to wander around the campus with her suitcase in tow (and her phone equipped), going around until she found something indicating where the student orientation thing (or her residence hall) was supposed to be.

Perhaps there was more to discover for later. For now, Laura decided her first priority was to find her room at the dorms and to do something with her luggage, unless there was some sort of student orientation they were supposed to attend first.

Arrakas turned his head lazily and watched the pair with dark eyes, his mind racing. Although it was basically impossible to tell because his face was distinctly snakelike, he was not thrilled with the idea of being pet.

But he couldn’t speak to them, and objecting might raise the sorcerer’s suspicions. ”Careful with the wings,” the snake hissed quietly.

Thistle nodded, privately hoping that the snake wouldn’t bite either of them. He wasn’t an overly social person, but no harm could come from chatting with the other passengers. Right?

“Uh, yeah, sure. Just be careful with his wings, they’re fragile.” His familiar gave him a quick glance that almost oozed annoyance at that, but sighed and slithered up Thistle’s left arm, coiling around the black and green scales and letting his wings unfurl. “His name is…”

”Arrakas,” the snake supplied after a few seconds.

“… Arrakas. I’m Thistle.” At the moment, he was grateful that his expression was almost unreadable; he was nervous.

Back where he lived, the few non-lizardfolk had lived in his town for a long, long time, and often over many generations- newcomers were, quite simply, scary.

Leona just looked back at the Aqua girl, unable to give anything except an understanding smile and a shrug like 'What are you gonna do?'. Knowledge of magic was not one of Leona's strong suits. Precisely why she was heading to this Academy place, to learn more about it in general. Still, hearing about these "giantess glamours" was...interesting. So there were other types of magic? What was a glamour? So many questions...but she was sure she'd find answers over the course of her time at this place. She looked outside the window to see that the whole city seemed to have been teleported into the sky. She has to stop her jaw from dropping, losing her composure for a second. This was...

"Amazing...this is what magic can do, huh...?"

She was impressed, to put it lightly. Of course she knew magic could probably stuff like this from what she had heard, but to see it up close and in person, to even be in the area affected by it...nothing could have prepared her for that.

As Tasar bikes away from the lake, he may spot a rather large bird - or is that a harpy? - flying in, starting to circle around the lake.

After some maneuvering through crowded streets, he eventually makes it onto the school grounds, where several signs saying “New students go here!” point him in the right direction.

Assuming he follows them, he’ll end up in front of a large mansion, which students are already beginning to file into. Off to the side, just off the parking lot, is a series of bike racks, where a few bikes are already chained up.

The icy boy nods as Christian thanks him. “No problem- hey wait, aren’t you a little young to… Eh, nevermind,” he shrugs, deciding it’s not his problem.

After the four of them walk into the station, the wall closes up behind them, leaving no sign that there was anything there at all.

It isn’t long before everyone is more or less settled in, and a voice overheard announces the last call before the subway doors finally close for good.

The icy boy takes a seat next to Kevin and starts to put his headphones back on, but then stops, noticing something under his seat.

“Hey, did anyone lose their-” all of a sudden, the bag disappears, reappearing somewhere down the cart in Jacob’s arms.

“Well, guess that settles that, then.” He puts his headphones back on, and the train starts to move.

Surrounded in darkness, it takes a while for anyone to notice anything weird. However, soon enough, several of the younger students are looking out the windows in awe, as spectral images seem to be appearing within the darkness.

Before long, the train is surrounded by all sorts of iridescent colors, as if going through some sort of interdimensional portal - which of course, it is.

Soon enough, the colors cease, and once again the subway is surrounded by darkness. However, it isn’t long before it stops, now in another station not much different from the last one.

A voice overhead announces the subway is stopping, and students start to spill out the second the doors open.

“Well, here we are,” says the icy boy to Kevin, removing a single headphone, but keeping the other one on. “The stairs here in this station lead up into the admin clock tower, from there you want to go into the big mansion across the street. If you somehow get lost, just follow the signs, they’re all over the place.”

Vicki, Laura, and the three other strangers get off the bus, one of the latter waving goodbye as the bus drives away.

“I bet the dorms are super awesome!” says the strange girl in response to Vicki. “Where do we go from here?”

The strange boy points to a sign next to the clock tower. “I’m guessing wherever all these ‘new students go here!’ signs are pointing to.”

“Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go!” the girl exclaims, grabbing her bags and rushing across the street.

The other strange girl sighs, running after her. “Hey, look where you’re going! Don’t wanna get run over on your first day!”

“Pffft.” Seb follows after Galva, keeping an eye on him as he goes back to the entrance hall.

There, Galva should spot his siblings coming in through the front doors.

“There he is,” says Scylla. “Where the hell did you think you were going?”

“Hey, it’s my dad!” Seb exclaims, moving to give Mason a fist bump.

“Don’t go there,” Mason says unamusedly.

Seb merely smirks, then turns to Scylla and Bernard. “And look who it is! Told you guys you’d make it back in.”

“I’m not the one who was worried,” Scylla scoffs. Nonetheless, she joins Seb and Bernard in a complex three-person handshake, which involves lots of synchronized hand maneuvers and body movements. If Galva tries to keep track of it at all, he’ll end up losing track at least halfway through.

The handshake finishes off with a combined burst of fire, water, and flower petals into the air. Galva’s other siblings are watching in utter amazement and confusion.

“So, this kid’s your brother?” Seb asks, getting back to business. “How many more of these guys do you have?

“This is the last one,” Misty says, smiling down at Galva and ruffling his hair again. “And it seems like he’s pretty excited to be here.”

“Well, let’s go get him a room so he can go run around as he pleases,” Seb says, moving over to a long table that’s been set up in the entrance hall.

There’s six of these tables throughout all though the hall, but only one of them seems to actually have someone working there. Considering how packed the entrance hall has gotten, the other guy seems very relieved that Seb has returned.

“You’re helping the kids move in this year?” Bernard asks.

Seb shrugs. “Yeah. Leon asked me to, so, yknow, why not. Plus the school’s paying me, so.”

Seb takes a seat at the table and hands Galva, Kalvin, Scylla, and Bernard each a small sheet of thick paper. On the sheet is a simple form, asking for basic personal information.

“Alright, just go ahead and fill those out for me while I find what rooms you’ll be in, okay?”

Seb takes out a large list full of names and searches through it while Galva’s siblings start filling out their forms.

Dahlia’s driver parks in a parking lot at the front of a very large mansion. He seems to start saying something after she asks her question, but stops as he sees she’s already walking away.

Fortunately for her, there are small “New students go here!” signs all over the parking lot, pointing at the direction of the mansion.

If she goes inside, she’ll see the entrance hall crowded with students. Six tables are set up as sort of help desks, but only two of them seem to actually be staffed, and both are already swamped with students.

“Just hand me your tickets and you’re good to go,” says the troll at the booth. “And make it quick, I’m ready to clock out.”

As the goblin boys approach, she takes their tickets and waves them over to the train as the conductor heads back to the locomotive.

Inside, Daniel will find that there’s only a few seats left on the train, one of which is right next to a hulking lizardfolk with a - gods above, is that a daemon around his neck?! Probably not a good idea to sit there. Fortunately, it’s not the only empty seat.

Meanwhile, over by Thistle, the catboy pets Arrakas softly with his furry paw. The troll boy gives a worried glance over at the daemon, then gasps and turns away again.

“I’m Sushi,” says the catboy, still petting the daemon snake. “This is my friend Ursali.” He gives him a wide, sharp-toothed smile.

As the two goblin boys finally climb into the train, the doors close behind them, and the train begins its ascent into the other world.

At first, it doesn’t seem that different from other trains. However, soon the train starts tilting upwards, more and more steeply with each minute, though somehow some sort of spell seems to be in place to keep gravity from pushing monsters into each other.

The train keeps moving upwards for some time, before finally evening out. At some point, the tunnel they’re in widens, and another train falls into place next to them. Almost immediately after, the tunnel opens up, and the monsters are exposed to the brilliance of the Universal City.

Even the biggest cities in Underland can’t compare - for most monsters, this is something completely new. The Blue Skies clock tower reaches high into the sky, much higher than any construct in Underland.

“Oh, that’s just the start of it,” says the purple-haired girl, overhearing Leona talking to herself. “Magic is capable of all sorts of things you wouldn’t even believe.”

“Ava, it’s a bit weird to just start talking to strangers out of nowhere,” notes Aqua.

“Oh whatever,” she sighs, turning back to Leona. “So, I’m guessing you’re new around here?”

The train briefly passes through a small tunnel, where another train comes in alongside them. Soon, the tunnel opens up again, revealing the clock tower edging ever closer to the two trains.

“Hey, Ava, we’d better start getting ready,” says Envy. “The boys are probably gonna be pissed that we’re already late.”

Sun's bus continues to maneuver through the streets, the clock tower edging ever closer. It isn't long before it's right next to them, the bus coming to a stop in front of the doors.

"Here we are, Blue Skies Academy," says the bus driver, opening the doors. Several of the bus's passengers start filing out, about one half of the total. By the time all the students are out, the bus looks a lot more spacious.

As Sun climbs off after them, the bus's doors close and it drives off without another word. The clock tower entrance is brimming with students, many of which are crossing the street towards a mansion on the other side, which a bunch of "New students go here!" signs are pointing at.

The last few trains to the Universal City will be arriving shortly.

Still, she carried her things and followed the trail of the other students, hoping to find out where they would be going from there. She looked around a bit as she did, to see if she could see any other strange and unusual things here. Among such, she noticed a few other beings that looked less human as she passed by. Were those monsters? Was this a monster town? Laura was suddenly feeling less confident about this magic school thing.

Tasar wheels his bike over to the rack, making sure to put the bike lock through both the frame and the front wheel. He still recalled the day he'd left school to see he bike missing both its wheels, and how he'd had to explain to his parents why it took him so long to get home. Naturally, a dedicated thief could still take the back wheel, but that one was easier to replace, and he wasn't about to get a second lock just for that, though he had considered it at times.

Satisfied with the security of his transport for now, Tasar grabs his bags and pushes his way through to the mansion and the sign-in tables within. As he moves, he decides to get in a bit of practice and muffles his steps by focusing on his general worry of having his stuff taken. Not that anyone would notice in a crowd this large and talkative, but it was just one more thing to avoid undue attention.

"Great."

More fucking lines.

Dahlia hated having to wait for anything, especially since she had to wait all morning just for the goddamn driver to get there.

With her belongings in tow, Dahlia went to whichever line seemed to be both short and moving quickly. She assumed the tables were for checking attendance or something like that, though she wouldn't know for sure until she got close.

Some of the others... kinda looked like aliens or weird monsters, but nothing really surprised Dahlia anymore. She thought she might have seen a few places like this while touring around for colleges, so this was probably either one of the dorms or one of the faculty houses.

She just really hoped she wouldn't have to punch someone.

Thistle glanced at a startled-looking Pangolin, rolling his eyes. Either he was scared of lizardfolk, or scared of snakes. The latter wasn’t too irrational, but still. He could have hidden it better. Neither of them were just going to attack someone in public.

Arrakas closed his eyes as he was pet, gently hissing. ”I totally don’t like this. At all. Really. Thistle bit back a laugh. Apparently his winged snake friend liked to be pet. “Nice to meet you. Man, he totally likes that. Maybe I should start petting him more.”

The snake paused, and then gave Thistle a look that you didn’t need to be able to speak Daemon to read as ‘touch me and you die.’ “I would never dream of harming a friend, but harm doesn’t need to come to you for me to get well-deserved retribution for touching me. I am only putting up with this because I have too,” he hissed unconvincingly.

“So, you guys heading to Blue Skies Academy too?” He asked. Normally he would have kept to himself, but Sushi was friendly enough, and he’d known a couple of trolls before. And if they were both sorcerers like Arrakas had said, than they’d have something to talk about.

“I got the letter totally out of the blue,” he added. “I honestly have no idea what to expect.”

Which was why he was so startled to see the Universal City. It was… brilliant. It was… huge. It was amazing. Staring out the window, Thistle’s tail twitched in awe as he examined the place that he would be attending school in.

”I will admit, I haven’t seen such an impressive construct in a long, long time. Make sure not to lose track of me, Arrakas intoned.

Laura, Tasar, and the two unnamed girls enter the mansion first, with Vicki and the boy not too far behind.

Almost as soon as they enter, a blond dude jumps down from an alcove above the entrance hall, landing on the floor, unharmed and on both feet. A few of the freshmen seem surprised and amazed, though everyone else acts as if this is a regular occurrence.

The guy takes a seat behind one of the empty tables and calls out, “I can take a few over here!” Immediately half of the other two lines rush over to him, but Tasar manages to get a spot in near the front.

“Where’s everyone else?” the blond dude asks Seb at the table next to him, who merely shrugs and passes the von Neumanns their room keys.

“Okay, Scylla, you’ll be in room 413,” he says, “and Bernard, you’ll be in 420.”

The three of them chuckle a bit at that.

“Kalvin - did I get that right? - you’ll be in room 360, and as for you….” he turns to Galva, moving a finger down the list. “Little Galva von Neumann, you’ll be staying in room 261. Heh, almost right beneath your brother.”

“Alright that’s it, you guys go get settled in. Oh, and Scylla, Bernard,” he calls out as the family starts heading towards the stairs, “don’t forget about disorientation.”

“We never do!” assures Bernard, making finger gun motions at Seb as he heads up the stairs.

“Alright, Galva, do you know where to go, or do you want me or Mason to come with you?” Misty asks as the six of them go up the stairs.

As Daniel sits down, his seat seems a bit uncomfortable, almost uneven. However, there’s not much he can do as the train starts to move.

Across the train, Sushi is conversing excitedly with Thistle, ignoring all the awkward looks they’re getting.

“Yeah, we’re going to Blue Skies too! I was so excited when I got the letter, I’d heard about it before and it sounds super rad, ooh I can’t wait to get there- whoa!”

The catboy looks out the window excitedly as they enter the Universal City, his eyes and smile growing wider as he takes it all in. Even Ursali is momentarily distracted from his fear, turning as well to gaze at the city.

Soon enough, the clock tower is right in front of them, the two trains going in through a pair of openings in the wall. It seems the tower doubles as some sort of train station, as two other trains are docked there already.

A voice overhead announces their arrival, and the doors to both trains open up as both monsters and humans spill out into the station.

“Come on come on, let’s go!” Sushi exclaims, jumping off of Ursali’s shoulders and scampering out of the train. The young troll chuckles, following after, more than happy to get away from the spooky daemon.

As Daniel stands up from his seat, a small, shadowy figure zooms out from beneath it, flying out of the train in almost a split second. Oops, hopefully that’s not anything serious.

“Okay, yeah, we’d better get going,” Ava says as their train pulls into the station. “I’ll see you later, maybe?”

Not really waiting for an answer, Ava grabs her bags and starts heading out along with the other two girls.

Dahlia and Sun arrive in the mansion next, with the three girls from the train not far behind.

Envy and Ava each take a seat at one of the tables, Ava dragging Aqua along with her.

“We’re open for business!” the two of them call out at around the same time, and half of the three other lines lurch towards them. If Dahlia can act quickly, she should be able to get a spot near the front of one of them.

“Where have you guys been?” asks the blond dude to Ava at the next table.

“Sorry, our train ran late,” Ava explains, passing a room key over to Aqua.

“Alright,” sighs the blond dude, searching for Tasar’s name on a large list in front of him. “Einvald. Here we are. Room 215. Enjoy your stay!” He hands Tasar a small key before moving on to the next in line.

All of a sudden, another blond dude, this one wearing a pair of rectangular shades, leaps down from an alcove above, landing safely on the ground, before rushing out the front doors, a pair of six shimmering swords appearing behind him.

Looks like that really is a regular occurence.

“No problem,” the kid says to Kevin, apparently not noticing the accidental sarcasm.

The icy kid follows not far behind Christian, Kevin, and Jacob. His spreading frost footprints seem to be a lot more subdued now, though he seems to be struggling to keep them in check.

“So, hey, if you actually are a student here,” he says to Christian, “I can’t imagine you’ll be too comfortable around these crowds. Stick with me until we get inside, I can get you a room quickly.”

It isn’t long before they enter the mansion, and the icy boy sets his stuff down at the last empty table, digging all the necessary documents out of his bag.

“Late to the party, as usual,” Envy snickers from the next table over, decidedly not mentioning that she was late as well.

“Whatever,” the icy boy sighs. “You know I don’t get invited to parties.”

Envy snickers some more as the boy sets all the papers down on the table. “This table’s open!” he calls out to the crowd.

A few people from each of the other lines move over to his, though by now all the lines seem to be of a reasonable size, looks like there won’t be much more waiting in any of them.

“Alright kid,” says the icy boy, passing a form over to Christian. “Just fill this out for me and I’ll get you your room. What’s your name?”

Down the line, more and more kids are getting their rooms.

“Looks like you’re in room 255,” says Envy to Dahlia.

“You’ll be in room 277,” says Ava to Sun.

“Room 268,” says the blond kid to Laura.

The last few rooms will be assigned soon.
