And again, EA didn't help matters by pulling experienced Bioware devs who actually knew how to work around Frostbite's issues away from Bioware to work on FIFA.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThey're taking Anthem to this year's E3.
Why?
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisBecause DA isn't ready for anything and they're probably trying their damndest to not give up on it.
theyre going to really have to dazzle to reverse the slow bleedout of the game, at that
Considering the roadmap was pushed back I'm very curious if they really do have anything to advertise.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Hey, is anyone losing content in their games? Because apparently a recent patch is snipping off content for whatever reason...
technically thats because it was a limited time event, to my understanding.
Though, when your playerbase is literally bleeding out by the day, maybe extend the only reason people are logging in
I haven't touched this game since Division 2 dropped. I'm assuming I haven't missed much?
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Nada, just lots of depressing drama that only adds to the doubts Anthem will even survive to Year 2.
And my stupid ass got the Lo D edition. *headdesk*
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Maybe you can trade it for another game.
Though ooof you have my condolences.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah, I'm gonna be taking my copy back to the store when I get it out of my PS 4.
The universe is really interesting, and I would love to see where it goes...but I have a noted lack of a desire to pick it up again when I get everything set up again.
Sounds to me like it has a lot of the same problems as Destiny, along with a few of its own, and without even the redeeming features Destiny has.
Glad I didn't take the dive.
The difference though is that Destiny was able to right the ship pretty quickly, and has had a steady stream of content coming out to make things better.
Plus it's more competently made.
One of Anthems biggest mistake was the management absolutely refusing to let the devs take any lessons from, or even look at , or even say the word Destiny.
I mean, that's just a sign of the whole thing being an absolute mess from the start.
yeah, its the old "if we have no idea how previous things in the world have existed, we'll be free to invent with no boundaries" fallacy.
x4 Skirting off-topic here, and it's something I've banged on about enough in the past, but for me there was only a relatively narrow period of time where Destiny was really worth playing, and I've given up on it until they release a new game in the series. If Anthem hasn't even managed to reach that level of competence, then yeah, again, glad I stayed away.
And yeah, I said at the time of the demo/beta that it was mind-boggling that Anthem had problems Destiny had solved.
Just so I'm clear: Are we talking about Destiny 1 or 2 here? I played and liked 1, played the beta for 2 and kinda decided "eh, I'm not that into this franchise" and bailed.
Is 2 garbage? Did I make a great decision by not getting it?
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Well in 2 they started implementing more predatory micro transactions.
For instance shaders are single-use (unlike in 1 where you could use them how many times you want without them ever running out) & you have to buy them repedeatly if ya wanna change your gears color.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."What money grubbing loon thought THAT was a good idea? Glad I'm a retired guardian.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117And they are still charging a lot for DLC.
The 1st 2 are 20 bucks but they didn’t have that much content though the 2nd was better than the 1st one.
The 3rd DLC Forsaken costs almost as much as a base game at 40 bucks. It’s another mass/game changer expansion like The Taken King from 1 but still I don’t wanna shell out 40 bucks for fucking DLC.
After that they implanted a Year 2 season pass with 3 new DLC & you can only access them by paying for the pass (you can’t get them individually so you are forced to buy the pass) for...... I’m not sure the exact number but around 40 to 60 bucks.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."So even if Destiny 2 was the best game ever, they've burned every damn bridge gouging their players for every cent. Hopefully Anthem won't go that route.
.....he said, praying he didn't just jinx it.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117The micro transactions were Activision’s idea though, along with pushing them so hard. Now that Bungie’s not partnered with Activision anymore hopefully Destiny 3 will be more reasonable.
It's also possible that, at least during Inquisition, no one was quite aware of the 'pit of knives' Frostbite was under the hood until production already started and by then it might have been too late. And then Inquisition just gave confidence that, whatever problems they had, they'd gotten passed or could conquer them. "We survived that bad time where our heads were off and we were screaming. Surely we'll survive the next problems".
And at a certain point they were too sunk into the Frostbite to get rid of it.
