I'm largely indifferent to Soulburner overall, though leaning towards dislike. He basically exists to steal Aoi's thunder. Gate of Fire wtf. And as mentioned if Bohman doesn't curbstomp him into oblivion I'll consider them both write-offs.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! Why do people hate Soul Burner again?
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Because our souls suffered third degree burns. That's why.
That shit is traumatizing.
One Strip! One Strip!I think its a combination of...
- Him repeating Playmaker's early feats (beating some mooks, Go, and Blue Angel, in that exact order)
- The duel with Blue Angel (then Blue Girl, not Blue Maiden) had a case of Ass Pull with Gate of Fire and some arguable moments of misogyny.
- Salamgreats were seen as mediocre IIRC as the cards from SAST or the SD weren't shown int he anime, least alone printed then and the archtype, naturally was Cyverse (which I think had its own baggage, namely regarding that they had a role and presence compared to other new types, the aesthetics being seen as derivative and that the deck was So Okay, It's Average, which made Playmaker, the only guy primarily using them before Soulburner came to the scene, having the worse deck of all the protagonists).
- Revolver for the record is an antagonist, and he only has 3 Cyverse monsters with his deck being comprised of DARK Dragon monsters. Course his deck also pales in comparison to Gouki, Trickstar, Salamangreat and Altergeist.
- Ironically, I think the opposite reason might also be a factor. Since Salamangreats are now meta, Soulburner might be put into a similar situation to Crow.

Honestly? I like him more than Crow as well as the rest in their archetype. I honestly think people are making Takeru out to be worse than he actually is. The worst thing he's done is fake his trauma but even that isn't as bad as people claim it is.
Faking his trauma was terrible writing, Soulburner is just a boring version of Playmaker in general who keeps stealing the spotlight from characters people actually gave a shit about, then beats them in a duel because of course he can, and Salamangreats are just utterly boring to watch and play against.
I wholeheartedly agree that Soulburner's lowest moment was when he faked his trauma, but I propose that his second lowest was not Gate of Fire, but his lines when he give his on avenging his parents vs Revolver.
Yeah. That was dumb. I mean, I get that fighting Revolver at that point didn't solve anything and they had bigger fish to fry, but I'm sure they could have come up with a better way to convey it.
But don't worry Soulburner. If this thread is anything to go by, you were never cool.
One Strip! One Strip!I've never seen Soulburner up until now and my first impression was 'what a tacky haircut.'
The Protomen enhanced my life.Forgot to mention, I don't think the translation is conveying it well enough, but I like how Lightning switches to polite speech when he is around Bohman. It's like he is trying to behave in front of his boss.
It's Yugioh. You're really going in on a character's haircut? Might as well go to Comic Con and say "There's too much comic book stuff here."
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The blue shades just don't mix well with the red and yellow shades! XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.Soulburner vs Bohman begins. Soulburner's in the lead. Bohman summons a new boss monster and cheats at a dice roll
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! So, is Bohman any more interesting?
Wake me up at your own risk.Since his third duel with Playmaker, yes.
I think Einstein would hate this episode and Bohman. Personally, I like him. I think he is one of the more complex Yu-gi-Oh villains.
If I see this correctly, including this, we have four duels remaining.
Soul Burner vs Bohman
Lightning vs Revolver
Then either Lightning vs Yusaku or Bohman vs Revolver
And finally Bohman vs Yusaku
I guess SOL technology, GO, Queen (plus King maybe) will be the antagonists of the final season.
Forgot to comment on this episode:
Yeah, our boy Flame is probably going to regret absorbing Windy. His sudden data issues must be from that.
One Strip! One Strip!I was somewhat amused at Bohman trying to hold a conversation while Soulburner just screams like an animal the entire Duel. Unbelievable follow up to "you lost to us because lost your composure, Windy".
Windy had composure? I thought he was always a boiling pot of Smug Snake too busy sniffing his digital farts to see no one not even Light likes him or has sympathy for him beyond Flame.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Well, I get the feeling Lightning doesn't like any of his fellow Ignis.
He had no issues locking up Aqua, and wanted to re-program Ai.
He kept Windy around because he was useful and willing.
One Strip! One Strip!Dude's a digital sociopath. So far pretty much everyone he's interacted with is either an enemy to crush or a tool for his plans.
Wake me up at your own risk.New episode.
GTFO Soulburner.
Also, Windy did exactly what we were all expecting...though it didn't work out like he'd planned.
One Strip! One Strip!
Soulburner is an awful character that's basically a fanfiction author's self-insert in terms of writing quality. I think Vrains is firmly the worst YGO and he embodies almost everything wrong with it in one nice package.
God I hate that fucking "Joke's on you, I faked my trauma!" 'twist' with a burning passion.
