Starhawk doesn't just gather a team in one of the precredits scenes.....he gathers the og guardians of the galaxy :P

Also stans totally a watcher in those scenes hes in. He keeps talking about all his cameos as if he was the same person in all of them

Yeah, I guess we now have to scratch Stan Lee from the list of actors who played multiple roles in the MCU.....

I have the feeling that a lot of people won't listen to the Brandy song the same way ever again. And that is a good thing. Because the whole "my love is the sea" excuse is bull and always was....if that's your love, than you shouldn't cheat on her with an actual woman.

Man they know how to keep people in seats with the credits scenes, that was a lot of waiting to be sure I'd seen them all.

We appear to have our villain for number three now.

Oh and something I wasn't able to be certain fo but that jumped out at me, all the planets that Rocket and Yondu went though during their massive jump, had some of them shown up before in previous films? I almost though I recognised one of them from the Thor 3 trailer but I couldn't be sure.

I am interested to see how the Nebula stuff ties into Infinity War.

To say that I was disappointed with how they used Ayesha would be a massive understatement.

Stuff I especially loved: The weapon design. The costumes. The idea with the remote controlled fleet (which happens to be a hidden commentary on drones, btw). Actually, I loved all of the design choices. And the music.

Favourite scenes: Dancing Groot and naturally the Father and Son scene....sniff.....

I have changed my mind, btw. What I am missing was less more interaction between Peter and Yondu and more a good scene between Ego and Yondu.

Also: The Mary Poppins reference has to be the best Disney shot out they ever did in the MCU.

Biggest headscratcher: So....there was another catastrophe on Earth in 2014 which nobody has mentioned yet?

Also...is Mantis Peter's half sister? I mean, she could be one of Ego's children, too, right?

Theoretically she could be but I don't think she is. She does say he found her as a baby and if that was because she was his daughter why would he not say so? She has a different use to him, there's no sign he ever considered trying to use her as a battery or whatever so I don't see her being Ego's "biological" child. She's technically Pete's sister I guess but by adoption rather than birth.

Also, Drax's bluntness and Mantis' naivety worked really well but I don't know if they could stretch that dynamic out for a whole new film. Presumably Mantis is part of the team permanently but hopefully they find a unique role for her other than just part of a double act with Drax.

I think the only Abnett-era Guardians we haven't seen yet are Quasar, Bug and Moondragon (Cosmo and Adam Warlock obviously have not joined the team but have appeared) - do we think they are going to make some sort of appearance given the OG Guardians are now a thing?

Honestly, Mantis and Drax were my least favourite part of the movie. I mean, their dynamic was funny and all, but I actually enjoyed Rocket and Yondu the most, especially in the more dramatic moments. Rocket shooting Gamora and then ordering Kraglin to leave while Drax is screaming at him....

Honestly, we REALLY need an academy award for best CGI character, shared between the animators and the (voice) actor. The emotions on Rockets face were spot on. He should be the least believable thing in those movies and yet he is the most believable.

Rocket and Yondu were definitely the best part. As you say, the CGI and acting etc. of Cooper and the SFX team made Rocket completely real in every sense save the most literal. And Michael Rooker is just one absolutely fantastic actor whose been under the mainstream radar for far too long. The guy could absolutely pull a Bryan Cranston style late career boost and entirely deserve it.

Weren't there rumors that Yondu would be in Infinity War? I wonder if that will be in a Flashback or of they have something up their sleeve....

Honestly, I am really upset about him dying. So many great story opportunities lost...this is exactly why I am so against the notion that killing off characters is a good idea....unless you do it how they did it with Groot, creating new story opportunities. Though I guess I can do without full-blown teenager Groot.....

Well wasn't that a great ride. My new Number 1 of the MCU. Makes the first one look outright dull and that's saying something.

Funny (seriously, no gag didn't work), colorful, beautiful and yet also brutal and tragic at times.

[up] I wonder if that will be the big discussion surrounding the movie. I mean, apparently every MCU movie needs one nowadays.

Don't get why so many people complain about the soundtrack. I think it is beautiful and perfectly used.

My favourite is Father and Son (naturally), but the use of Come a little bit closer was hilarious.

OST was lame, and I swear there was one part that was blatantly ripping of Fury Road.

Well, sorta. There is one definite Big Bad and one who causes a little trouble, but is really more set up for future films. Oh, and one Big Bad Wannabe.

I'm gathering from the tropes that have been added lately that the definitive Big Bad is Ego. I'm gonna guess he holds up rather well as a villain? Everything I'm hearing about him makes him seem interesting.

Ego is really fantastic as a character. One of the top 5 MCU villains for sure.

I've just come back from the movie. It's amazing but I need to see it again.

So...a good Marvel villain?

I'm asking this because I'm really hoping this is the year that Marvel can buck the trend of bad villains.

Yondu is also my favorite MCU character as of this film.

He is pretty much like one of the modern Disney villains....which is not necessarily my favourite kind of villain, but damn, I don't think that any other villain ever has managed to make my blood boil in anger as much as he did.

Yeah Ego was way worse than Ronan was in terms of just hatred and vileness. I think it's going to be the Marvel's Cinematic Universe 3rd Complete Monster now (For movies anyway). Killing all your children just because they had no use for you, giving the person who loved you cancer, trying to kill your sons best friends and then trying to become an Omnicidal Maniac on the universe. Father of the year everyone!

I did not expect a Guardians of the Galaxy movie to be the first movie in the MCU to make me cry in the theater. I came in expecting to laughnote , dammit! sad
