I forget which one I went with, but yeah, same. I'm using a bayonet and with Yakumo's help, almost everything just falls apart. Sometimes I'm the one helping him.
It's been fun.Fuck the Cathedral of Sacred Blood.
Bleye knows Sabers. The cathedral sucks, this is known.
If you weren't on Playstation I'd offer to hop in and help, but I just remembered I'm not at the endgame of my first playthrough anymore, I'm like a quarter of the way through my first NG+ run so I can't anyway.
Basically, always look down, and never, EVER sprint around corners.
The cathedral is easily the worst level. Its an even more Confusing Anor Londo, if that was possible.
Watch SymphogearYeah I got past it. Then backtracked through it primarily to map it out 100% but also because I apparently hate myself. It's labyrinthine beyond all measure. I felt like I was back in my SNES-PS 1 JRPG days running through identical corridors ad infinitum.
Putting the Queenslayer Flashback in the middle of that slog was a very good idea. Broke it up quite nicely.
What the HELL is up with the Successor of the Ribcage. She's a poster child for Our Monsters Are Weird.

Bleye knows Sabers. She's definitely the weirdest of the bosses you're going to fight, though a few will come close.
The second phase ost for her and all the other successors, Heir of the Shingai, is one of my favorite tracks in the game:
Climbing up a snowy mountain now.
I gotta say one thing about this game really bugs me. And that's that it, or at least the characters, take itself so damn seriously.
I'm a flame-spewing BDSM techno-vampire with a transforming blade-coat wielding a hammer much bigger than I am. How can everyone in the damn game keep a straight face over how ridiculous everything is.
Anyways it sold a million copies.
Bleye knows Sabers.Sequel better have crazier weapons.
Also I finally put this game as my next rental. Should arrive sometime next week.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It's not wacky to them because one character is a guy with a sword as tall as he is and everyone is chuuni as shit.
And besides, Murasame has one of those rocket hammers in her vault from the beginning and never lets you use hers, they're used to wacky insane weaponry by now. A rocket hammer isn't even close to the wackiest weapon in the game anyway!
As I've heard said, this game is at its best when it (and you) take it way too seriously or not seriously at all. Those are the extremes you need to ride.
It's been fun.Anyone turned this thread into a 'so, which anime character did you make in character creation?' hellhole yet? 'Cause I'd kinda like to if everyone else is up for discussing their attempts at making their Waifus and Husbandos in anime Dark Souls.
Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...I made a female Asura. Well, attempted to make one, with The Darker skin option, Platinum hair, Completely white holes for eyes and very little clothing at the base to try and mimic the idea.
Watch SymphogearAs in Asura's Wrath Asura? (Duh, who else would it be?) Sweet.
I've been trying my hand at Azur Lane Characters. I've got Admiral Hipper and Illustrious so far, working on Prinz Eugen and maybe Nelson if I can find an outfit that looks halfway right.
Fun fact: getting custom hairstyles right using the various ponytail options can be a nightmarish chore.

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...I just made my preferred, default OC.
I like what we can do with it, and how silly we can get.
Side note, fuck BBC, especially on NG+
Yep. Still my favorite game of all time.
Watch SymphogearYeah, I hated that fight. I tried the Queenslayer oneshot build, then realised they'd nerfed the timer on Final Journey since I last played, making it unviable. At the time anyway. Went to the last depths area last night before beating the game and one-shotted Blade Bearer, then wailed on Cannoneer with Jack and took him down in 15 seconds. I think being level 206 might have something to do with it :p

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...I tried to make Edelgard since I saw her on twitter but I could never quite position her crown's horns properly. So I just made a generic seven-foot amazon chick.
I put her in the red BDSM gear because most people put their characters in red BDSM gear.
Bleye knows Sabers. It’s not based on any specific character but I made kind of a black phantom cowboy with dreads & a stark white skull on his face.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Mass bump to say I beat Code Vein a while ago but forgot to put my thoughts on it.
It's good, but the flaws in the main game keep it from being one of the best souls clones out there. While I like that this time there's a plot, some of the characters aren't as active as they should be. Louis and Silva are the biggest victims here, because you think they'd get more screentime but don't. The characters I felt were used as best as they could, do not disappoint me however. And I have to say, Juzo Mido is a great villain who I Love to Hate.
For a positive though, I do like the sidequests they give you here. It's no The Witcher 3 or Yakuza, but getting to learn more about both the quest givers and the lore of Code Vein felt like it's own reward on top of the quest reward. I definitely didn't think much of Self-Important Revenant due to his introduction in the story, but his questline warmed me u to him in ways I didn't think I would.
The core gameplay loop is much more lenient that Dark Souls or Bloodborne, but it isn't lacking its share of challenge. I died plenty of times and lost millions of souls. This time around the game's Bloodcodes allow for free switching of builds on the fly. I played a Dark Mage for most of the game, then I added a Light Magic Spellsword build for late game, and at the end I made a Strength build for the True Final Boss. It opens up lots of experimentation ideas since you can keep all but the key kills and passives of each Bloodcode after mastery.
Speaking of Bloodcodes, I really like the Vestige Memory sections. They remind me of my favorite part of Fallout 4, the time you need to walk down Kellogg's memories to find where he took Shawn, only they feel like social links from Persona because you get to talk to the characters about their missing memory afterwards and they get character development from it. They are an excellent way to get to know each character more, living or dead, and even thought to change up the level design and method of traversal for each Vestige. Unlocking new powers wasn't the only reason I looked forward to getting more of these.
The Depths area is this game's answer to chalice dungeons from Bloodborne, and needless to say I like them much better here. Just find the map, then fast travel to the Depths floor and explore the not-randomly generated area. Once you complete a floor you're even free to re-fight the boss of that more forever. While it is a bummer that each boss is a repeat of a story boss, that doesn't take away from the great material grinding opportunity to master as many Bloodcode skills as you want.
Because due to the way level and proficiency works, that's you're best shot at mastering them all if you're too high a level. Proficiency is gained in proportion to the level of Lost relevant to you, so around 60-70 one areas might be great for leveling it up, but that same area will start to suck at around 90-100. It adds an unnecessary hurdle to the otherwise excellent Bloodcode system.
Last word is on the DLC. When I heard it was a season pass with 3 planned episodes, I was expecting something on the level of Dark Souls II's Lost Crowns Trilogy or Nioh's Dragon of the North-Defiant Honor-Bloodshed's End content. Instead it's just new Depths floors with challenges to pad out the gameplay length. That's really disappointing, because the new bosses look cool to fight against, but are contained behind overpriced DLC.
Tried the first Tower of Trials for the first time, and it kicked my ass. I eventually beat it, but that last fight was quite harrowing.
I'm glad that you can get Marks of Honor from it; I haven't been able to find distress signals for a while.
In anticipation for the sequel announcement I just know is around the corner any second now (Coping) I am now going for 100% Completion. Already got the Golden Ending but now I'm wondering if I should do a "Quick" run to grab the Relic Blood Codes or try and tackle the DLC bosses as I am.
Mostly worried about the Cathedral of Sacred Blood. It's been actual years and I'm still scared of that place.
Also have a new build that requires me to use... The Metal Pipe since it's the only weapon light enough to equip alongside a Dex-Scaling Blood Veil and the Achilles Blood Code while maintaining "Quick" dodging. Holy hell. Not sure if that counts it as Not Completely Useless or Lethal Joke Item but it's one of the two.
Bleye knows Sabers.Put a status ailment on it, or make it drain. Use it for what it does on hit, not how much it does per hit.
Exactly what I'm doing. Most of my actual damage comes from my Blood Veil (Night Claw) in that build. Opportunism on someone that's slowed and envenomed with Charge Accelerator usually finishes things off. Pretty good for taking out Hunters in Black (And one-shot-backstabs Stonecrushers and Raging Noblewomen) or Cerberus guys but admittedly can't really do much against swarms of smaller lost.
Turns out I can use the Iceblood Rapier with that veil too as long as I equip a Mind-increasing Passive Gift though so at this point it's just for bragging rights.
Bleye knows Sabers.
Got the Hermes Blood Code and I don't know if I'll ever bother with anything else. It suits my fighting style perfectly.
I don't think I have parried a single attack in the whole game yet.
The partners are hilarious because they are way too competent to ever ditch but sometimes I still wish they would hold back a tad to help me stock up on Ichor.
I have logged much of my adventure here in case anyone is interested. I have written many funny comments.
