Well to each their own, I personally found them way too 'much'.

Especially Little Tandy in a church giving everybody a pill that makes them drop dead.....which includes her rapist, and then....her boyfriend? Wtf.

They also took up way too much time, felt like filler.

They're not dead, she was giving them roofies.

[up][up] Yeah, I get this, but once the show continues you will discover that they aren't filler at all. Those dreams are always about some character development. What you have seen is just the show setting the baseline to show where the characters are at the start of the show. Tyron on a self-destructive path of revenge and Tandy on a path which will destroy anyone who tries to get close to her for one reason or another.

An article discussing how the Marvel teen shows approach consent.

https://www.themarysue.com/marvel-teen-shows-consent/

Verdict for Cloak And Dagger: does a good job of modeling consent in several scenes, especially Tyrone’s and Evita’s makeout session. It also illustrates, through the investigation into Tandy’s attacker, that assault survivors frequently don’t get justice through the courts.

Finished the series now (had a few things to do in between). It was far from perfect, I'll say that much, the pacing in the beginning was off and the finale too rushed. I also couldn't really get into Tandy's character for most of the time. Tyrone however, I really liked, just as much as O'Reilly. And the effects were quite neat too.

I hope Season 2 uses this solid foundation for a few strong improvements.

I certainly liked it better than Runaways, though. It kind of frustrates me that Runaways gets so much buzz while Cloak and Dagger still gets overlooked.

Well I for one did like Runaways better. I liked the characters much more all in all.

I liked a few of the Runaways characters better, but I think Cloak and Dagger did a better job developing the characters they had. They just had a much smaller number.

Which I suppose is why most shows go for more characters. If you've got a dozen unique personalities given roughly equal screentime, everyone will find someone to like. If you don't like Chase or Gert, maybe you'll like Alex or Nico. But if you don't like Tandy or Tyrone, you're not going to like Cloak and Dagger. Period.

Runaways was given a much better budget and a lot more hype, yet it was incredibly mediocre, unwilling to follow the real premise of the show. C&D though did a lot with a little. I never minded the slow pace as they were solid explorations into the characters. The last episode was rushed, but after such a solid season, I didn't mind it. Runaways had jumped the shark by episode 2. With that said, I hope season 2 of Runaways is better.

Looks a lot more actionized than Season 1.

Maybe. Some of the first season trailers implied a lot of action, and then it turned out most of those scenes were from the last episode.

Either way, I'm not complaining. The first season earned them a lot of good will with me. I also trust that they will do a good job with the human trafficking plot. I'm guessing it's going to be more complicated than "Mayhem murders all the bad guys and then everything is perfect forever."

Looks like Tandy's powers might be evolving a bit.

The Mayhem scenes remind me of when Kira (Emma Lahaine's character in Power Rangers Dino Thunder) got possessed herself.

-head tilt-

I dropped off from this show about 2-4 episodes in. Someone here kept saying it was really good but I never made the time to watch it.

...I suppose this might be my only outlet for gritty, non-snarky live-action superheroes now...

I really adore the show!

Give it a chance. It might surprise you. (In fact, it most likely will).

I also couldn't quite get behind it. It wasn't BAD, but it wasn't good either. But I think the foundation can be used to really improve it in Season 2.

[up] Haven't watched it fully yet, but I like what I have seen from ep 1 so far.

So, now I have watched it and the show is still amazing. It does a way better job to show the gang problematic than Luke Cage does.

I did not see what they did with Mayhem coming. Brava. Keeping to the rule of keeping their routine power uses low-cost-sfx too, though they have obviously also gotten a lot more money to play with in that regard.

Evita still nicest girl.

Yeah, that O'Reilly twist was beautiful. Great to see T&Ts storylines intersecting more, too.

You lost!
