She said she's legally obligated to have Twitter by her publisher. She didn't reactivate it because she wanted to.

Huh, didn't know publishers have that much control over writers.

Dunno if it's entirely her publisher considering she posted 2 days ago about finally visiting the ritual opera (Palais Garnier) from Phantom with Elisa Hansen. (note: and by that she means Vegas)

Prolly a publicist.

Lindsay gave up whatever little respect she had left for humanity after the whole debacle. It's no wonder she would rather focus on her work than interact with us. Not that I blame her.

I have no idea what any of this means, especially Grillpill (which is the weirdest expression I've ever heard)

... still a really weird response any way you cut it.

Speaking of weird responses, this has been percolating in my head for a while and I feel like expressing it: Lindsay's "damn baby" response in the Omegaverse Lawsuit video.

Like... I legitimately don't know what the point of that was. To recap, in Lindsay's response to Omegaverse-lady's accusations, among them was an accusation that she referred to her child as a "damn baby" (or "dumb baby," can't remember). Sooooo... the response to that was an extended bit where one of her editors calls her kid a damn baby repeatedly?

It's one of those things where honestly I don't know if it needed to be responded to but I do know that particular response was... frankly baffling.

No, it's just a way of calming the hell down and not being super online coined by Chapo Trap House host Matt Christman, he kinda had a revelation last year after an acid trip during lockdown last year and now makes this odd sermons about philosophy, metaphysics, and history

[up][up][up]

It's pretty easy to log off and not engage in stupid arguments. Tons of famous internet people manage to do that, and for some reason some internet personalities don't understand that the best response to the mob is sheer radio silence.

If she had be like "Hey this literal baby cartoon for children is also like another literal baby cartoon for children" and then *ignored* every single weird loser in her @s trying to get under her skin then she wouldn't have ended up trending in the first place. If there's one thing twitter taught me it's that every controversy one can get themselves embroiled in will be made significantly worse just by engaging in it instead of ignoring it.

You know it's true. Remember when everyone tried to get on James Rolfe's case for not wanting to watch another bloodless remake of something he loves? Remember how he just ignored them, gave them no engagement, and they ultimately dissipated in a few days?

The internet moves faster than real life by a magnitude of 20. Engaging with "controversies" (especially one as stupid as the Moviebobs of the world rushing to defend some cartoon) on twitter is always a bad prospect and never helps

[up]Given that Lindsay Ellis, the person who actually has the online job here, said that it's not that simple I'm more inclined to take her word over yours.

"Go offline" is not logical advice if one's business involves an online presence. Go off Twitter is more logical but that's what she did. She temporarily deleted her Twitter account.

@H Barnil ...Uh-huh. Sssurree.

..."Grill-pill"? What? Why would you make up that word? "Chill pill" is to chill, to calm down. What would you need to "grill" for, is that to become even angrier? Is that the idea?

Should we start grilling this mushroom, you think they'd taste good? I never tasted grilled mushroom before.

Edit: ...Ah. James. I'll just put that back down the realm of "stuff I would be glad to not remember".

[up]...Moving around the latter statement, I'll just ask: got anything to recommend we talk about instead, then?

I'll try to start one off: who here liked her series on Transformers and would like her to do more and on what subject?

[down]"And that is fucking who, again?", I ask with dread, knowing that this will merely prolong this conversation.

I think phrases like “literal baby cartoon” are a good indication that Loureed is more interested in trolling than having a constructive conversation. I suggest we follow their own advice and ignore them.

[up][up]I doubt it's just this thread that has to deal with stuff like this. I don't know, maybe Twitter brings around a lot of people that want to rag on Twitter or whatever.

Either way, I'm continuing another conversation.

Should it be something LIKE Michael Bay’s Transformers? Or something completely different?

I do wonder what more could be said about any dumb action movie that she hasn’t said already.

I meant, if you liked the original one, would you support another series like that applies itself to another franchise or even genre?

Oh, I certainly would be in favor of that (granted, the whole Twitter controversy and what-not has kind of soured my opinion on Lindsay slightly - not trying to start an argument there, just saying that was the case - but I think it would at least pique my interest).

The question I was asking was more what series would be a good fit.

[up]The old Fox X-Men movies, off the top of my head?

Another spontaneous suggestion would be the original Spider-Man trilogy.

Hm, well, Lindsay is certainly a big X-Men fan…

That said, Lindsay does like to talk about the directors and what not, and the Fox X-Men stuff has a pretty big elephant in the living room in the form of Bryan Singer. Dunno how comfortable she’d feel talking about it with him in the picture.

Maybe it could work, I don’t know. Spider-Man might get less unpleasant, though.
