Not the best picture again I am afraid but here is a Royal Warden I painted at the end of last year for my Necrons.

I'm more of a WHFB-type of guy, so this one makes me think about the possibility of using bits from Necrons along with Tomb Kings. Maybe I could create the look of a long-dead civilization from some even more archaic and mythical time-period, like the Atlantean kingdom from before Conan's time?

I have been thinking of converting a Steampunk robot Blood Bowl team out of Necrons with cogs and things on them coached by Dwarf engineer but time, money and laziness have been getting in the way

[up]That sounds awesome! The Necrons' skeleton-robot design ought to make it really simple to create something reminiscent of robots in very early sci-fi, at least the ones that don't look like they are made of buckets and tubes. Turning Necrons into steampunk-robots in general wouldn't even need that much converting, except to make their guns look like older military models, as well as putting some tiny gears and cogs on suitable spots. These can be bought for cheap on places like Green Stuff World, or by taking apart old clocks bought from flea markets.

[up]Of course there is still the laziness problem[lol]

Anyway, here are the last models I painted in 2020, Primaris Inceptors for my homemade Astral Fists Chapter (I have no clue why the pic is cockeyed, that seems to happen a lot recently no matter what camera I use).

[up]For these guys the bronze paint-scheme makes them look a bit steam-punkish, kinda like Victorian astronauts or Texas Rangers in space. cool

Not a great pic but here is the Void-born Bounty Hunter Yar Umbra who I painted a while ago.

[up]I'm getting very strong Fallout-vibes from him. I'd paint his clothes in shades of blue, to imply that it's his jumpsuit from Vault 21.

[up]Not played that, it could be an influence for the model.

Another poor pic I am afaraid but here is an old HeroQuest Elf I painted a while ago. I also just noticed I got some grey on his boot that I didn't tidy up. I always miss things like that until it is too late[lol]

Maybe he stepped in some guano? tongue

But seriously, I really like the classic Hero Quest miniatures. I also like this paintjob, even though I'd make the elf golden-blond. But the white hair does remind me of Elric of Melnibone.

[up]Thanks[tup] I keep hearing that series brought up in relation to Warhammer Elves. I would be interested in reading it but I already have far too many books on my to read pile(s).

I like how your bronze and brass paint-scheme makes it look very steampunk-ish. It looks like a reverse-engineered Martian Tripod, enhanced to walk with four legs to be better used in wars between human factions. cool

[up]Thanks. I have heard it said that they look like the offspring of a Martian Tripod and a Water Strider.[lol]

Here is the repaint of a Necron Lord that I did at the end of last year.

As before, varying the shades of metal between limbs helps make it look more like a moving robot than a still statue. smile

[up]Thanks.

Here is Frodo Baggins from the Middle-Earth game. While I like how his cloths turned out, his face isn't great.

Here is my first squad of the new Necron Warriors. These were actually the fist models I painted from scratch in this scheme (I started painting them on 1st January), it has just taken me a while to get around to getting a photo of them.

That paintjob on the Necrons keeps on delivering. Poor Frodo does look a bit scared, even though his outfit is very dapper. [tup]

Today I got Gorzag Gitstompa and Nikkit in the mail and I'm really looking forward to painting it. I am torn whether to have the mini unaltered, or if I'll convert it for WH Fantasy. He looks a lot like some Warcraft-orcs from the RTS-era. grin

I got Gorzag & Nikkit in the post last weekend as well, I'll probably paint them later in the year to post during Orktober.

This is an older miniature, who these days mostly functions to showcase the scale of other minis. I originally converted this half-orc from Warhammer-bits (mostly Beastmen and Marauders) for my first attempt at playing D&D, which unfortunately didn't happen. I would really like to play this character some day, maybe even try to convert him another mini.

[up]Nice. I like how you made the bare torso look like leather.

Surprisingly easy, just by painting. If I redesign the character and convert a new miniature for him, I'll tweak the outfit to give him more furry bits, for proper Pelts of the Barbarian.
