Instead of Light's request to Malia: Requesting that Malia trades one of her Goddess Icons for Grendan's Elixir in order to begin reviving fallen allies next turn, then moves to P34 and Stamina's Vera.

A great gold and silvery light above. It stands, sentinel and shield, pushing away at anything that enters the edge of his sight and guarding against the harms of the world until he returns to it.

Fueled by their wounds, the company fought back with renewed ferocity. Xel's claws tore through the officer's armor, barely registering the strange blade the soldier struck him with until he was wrenching it out of his shoulder like an irritating thorn.

Grendan swooped down on the enemy mage, providing cover for the wounded Osroes as he hacked with his axe. The gleaming blade bit deep into the mage's unprotected torso, knocking her off balance. The great fireball she had begun summoning seared through the space between Grendan's body and Heath's wing, merely warming them both before the wyvern knight's axe struck her down for good.

Malia's dance set Vera's adrenaline pumping, and as soon as the dancer had pulled the ballista bolt from Athena's flank, Vera coaxed the weary pegasus into the air - just enough to clear the ridge and land on the far side, within the ballista's deadzone. Panic became plain on the enemy archer's face as he tried to take cover behind the fortress' parapets, but Vera's fury would not be denied. He had hurt her pegasus, and two well-placed arrows assured that he died screaming for his transgressions. With the archer dealt with, she turned her attention to the last remaining foe; the soldier on the ridge, threatening the company's backline. She drew her trusty greatbow, and even the ridge's cover couldn't save him from a pair of bolts in the back.

Drop Mambele. Requesting that Malia grant Sophia dance of Stamina. After Sophia's turn Xel dashes to O22 and equips Killer Berrette.

A familiar taste and cold glass on his lips. Osroes murmurs, his eyes fluttering open as gentle Light floods his body.

Rsama nudges his side; Osroes smiles. Nodding thanks to Cassandra, he stands, just as strong as before, and levers himself up onto his ally’s back. The two, once more, take flight.

Osroes moves to Q30.

Cassandra and Sophia set about getting their injured allies back on their feet as Vera took command of the captured ballista, and turned its deadly power on their foes. Two bolts shrieked out of the sky, slaying a distant swordswoman near the next fort. With a roar, Xel charged off through the gap the soldier's death had left in the foe's defensive line, either unaware or uncaring that his newfound resistance to destructive magic had also weakened the effects of his allies' healing.

The enemy ballista returned fire, its bolt striking Sophia heavily across her side; not a lethal shot, but still terribly painful. As the archer began winding the winch to load the next bolt, the remaining soldiers at the foot of the fort attacked Xel, and were soon joined by reinforcements from the west who had seen the dragon laguz charge into their range.

Xel was just laughing off a dark mage's vicious strike when the warrior's crossbow bolt punched through his scales, dropping him to the ground.

Rsama’s horseshoes clatter against rock as he lands atop a peak; atop him, Osroes looks around once more. To the East, Vera loads, discharges and reloads with all of her characteristic precision; to the North, under the ballista bolts’ cover, Xel charges…

And falls.

Osroes’ face sets, taking and nocking an arrow; Rsama stamps at the ground. With purpose, the two launch forward.

Osroes drinks from his Pure Water as a Bonus Action, moves to P24 and attacks Vissan 15 with his Longbow.

Should Osroes have a second turn, he moves to P22, heals Xel with his Elixir as a Bonus Action and continues to N24. If Vissan 16 is not defeated, he attacks Vissan 4 with his Longbow; if Vissan 16 is defeated, he attacks Vissan 17 with his Longbow.

Grendan swooped down on another enemy mage, letting Heath drive him to the ground as he struck with his axe. The weapon bit deep into unarmored flesh, causing the mage to loose control of the spell he had been readying with a scream. Flames bathed wyvern and rider, scorching them, but not dangerously. Grendan coughed through the smoke and finished his foe.

Spirits lifted by the sight of Malia's dance (and surely his lovely fiance would understand that he was watching another woman dance purely for the tactical benefit, he swore), Osroes took a quick swig from a bottle on his belt before sighting down an arrow at the hulking warrior woman in front of the ballista fort. Incredibly, even at the extreme range, he struck true not once, but twice, burying shafts deep in her shoulder and breast.

...he was sure Azadokht wouldn't have anything to say about that phrasing, either.

Landing on the very verge of the lake shore, he leapt down from Rsama's back just long enough to pour a generous amount of healing elixir down the dragon's throat before swinging back into the saddle and turning his sights on the ballista's archer. By some miracle, not one, but both of his arrows managed to thread the needle through the fort's parapets to strike home, and the archer fell from his perch with a gurgle.

Distracted by the pegasus knight's barrage, neither of the officers outside the fort saw Sophia coming until they heard the electric shriek of her spell, arcing from one to the other.

Having taken her time to carefully sight the last of the ballista's bolts, Vera let loose, and impaled the spearman Sophia had just electrocuted dead through the chest, prodding his corpse up as the head of the bolt buried itself in the ground behind him.

One of the dark mages lurking in the fort's shadow darted forward, lashing out with the same vicious spell that had so recently helped to slay a dragon, now at Sophia. The young woman was already badly injured, and the shadowy scythes the dark mage summoned struck her full on, but to the dark mage's surprise, Sophia remained standing. The dark mage braced herself as Sophia unleashed her counterspell, sneering condescendingly as the lightning seemed to only prickle at her skin. That is, until she heard the scream to her right, and turned to see the towering woman beside her fall dead as the lightning arced from mage to warrior.

The last mage, having seen Sophia's magic decimate his comrades, snickered as he moved into the fort's gateway. "Let's turn that magic to a better target," he cackled, and traded the tome is his hand for the staff on his back.

As static exhilaration of her spell faded from Sophia's fingertips, she felt something else. A red fog filled her mind, obscuring faces around her and filling her with tense aggression. She swept her head from side to side, realizing she was surrounded by enemies, and unleashed a bolt of lightning at the nearest foe. The electric energy seared past Cassandra inflicting no greater harm than to spook her pegasus, and a moment later, the magic faded from Sophia's mind, returning her to her normal state.

Attack Vissan 13 with Silver Comb and defend as bonus action.

With a soft tch Osroes’ bowstring snaps forward for the fourth time. He nods decisively as the arrow embeds itself in his encastled target, feeling his body thrum with the energy of Creation as he makes shot after shot. He turns away, scanning the North even as Rsama dives down again from his vantage point in the sky. Urtaxis… Where are –

A roar of thunder – wild, uncontrolled, enraged, not the sharp crack of a regular battle mage’s strike. Osroes starts, putting a hand on Rsama’s neck to soothe the pegaz even as he feels him tense under him, then looks back to the South to see sorcerous energy peeling off Sophia, Temperance a touch unsettled but neither her nor her rider harmed. He raises his bow in acknowledgement.

Then he turns his gaze on the battlements’ new occupant, staff in hand. Tarjadugih… He winces. The others will send them to Tar – I can at least attempt to subdue them rather than let them do that again. May you forgive me, he resolves, grimacing as Rsama glides past the walls to give him a fifth shot.

Before anybody else's turn, Osroes moves to L23 and attacks Vissan 17 with his Longbow.

Requesting that Malia both trades the Silencer to and performs a Dance of Stamina for Vera in a place that will keep her out of harm’s way and close to the rest of the party.

Send Goddess Statue to convoy. If all this other shit goes down and she trades the shortbow for the silencer and gets the twilight crown, Twilight Crown to N22 and use both rounds to drill down on Urtaxis's ass with the Silencer. Or if he dies in the first hit, also shoot the Ballista at H22 with Silver Bow to destroy it. If none of this shit works, just go to N25 and defend.

Like a bolt of divine judgement, Vera's shot fell from the heavens and struck Urtaxis square between the shoulders, punching clean through him. His treasured orb rolled from his crinkled fingers as he reared back, lips peeling back in what started as a silent scream before building to an otherworldly shriek that echoed up and down the winding mountain path. A hundred voices screamed together as darkness began to froth from the summoner's orifices like bubbling tar.

The sound did not escape those on the beach, as Ephish and Vissan heads alike spun in fright and confusion, seeking the source of the horrible racket. At the center of the two armies, Denchel swung herself back onto her wyvern and took to the skies, followed shortly by Prince Gothrie calling for her to come back, only to fall silent as he, too, saw what was happening.

Urtaxis' shades rose up from the darkness exuding from him. A few at first, then dozens, turning on him as soon as they appeared; the tormented souls of his victims finally free to exact their revenge. Whether out of loyalty or terror, his escorts turned their weapons on the shades to little effect. As soon as one was dispatched, three more had appeared. They shrieked and tore at the summoner with shadowy claws, ripping him apart in a roiling mass of darkness. As the horrible keening reached a crescendo, the summoner entirely vanished beneath the horde of vengeful shades, there was a fleeting moment of silence before the entire area around Urtaxis exploded in midnight. The nearby soldiers were obliterated before they could even turn to run, and when the darkness faded like smoke in the wind, all that remained was a tome and the orb artifact lying in the dirt.

The rest of Urtaxis' troops broke ranks and fled toward the sea as the landed Vissan troops rushed to meet them, followed by their warships. Denchel swooped down to the spot where Urtaxis had fallen, Gothrie hot on her tail, arriving moments before the Company reached the same spot.

Slipping from her saddle, Denchel swept a hand through her bangs and stooped to pick up the orb, turning it curiously in her hands.

"Is this what that lunatic was after?" she wondered aloud as Gothrie and the Company arrived.

Grendan shrugged in response to the other wyvern rider's question, his body still tense and axes still within easy reach. "Who knows what goes through the minds of the mad? I, for one, have no desire to understand anything so disgusting," he scoffed, glaring at the blighted wasteland that remained where the summoner- or, perhaps more accurately, necromancer- had died.

Sophia finished casting a heal on herself and walked over to the grizzly scene. "So that was Urtaxis." She said in very disappointed huff. "My Master praised him as a genius. But also said to be careful if I ever met him. Now I see why. Hopefully he took his secrets to the grave."

“By your divine name…” Osroes’ arms come to rest on, then wrap around Rsama’s neck as the two land, the pegaz’s nostrils flared and tail bolt downwards. They gaze, frozen and wide-eyed, at the scene before them – at the maelstrom of souls, screaming their might and fury for all to hear. It is no wonder that the Vissans flee.

But a fraction of those that Tar has stolen…

Shaken, Osroes slides off Rsama’s back, pulling off his helmet and taking the Spire in hand to raise the riverbed enough for the party to cross it. The two stumble to the site of Urtaxis’ demise and there he turns to Grendan. “Those… Those are what we will all fight against,” he explains, fear and horror making his voice tremble. “Those are what Tar’s magic does to people. How he brought them here…”

He breathes, trying to shake the unsteadiness out of his mind, then looks to the newcomers in their midst. To Gothrie, Osroes bows. “Your Highness. Our apologies for the disruption; it is good to know that you are safe from… That, at least.” He shudders once more, then turns to the other. “And you must be the one in command of the Vissan forces here.” Another two in harmony, at the least… A wan smile returns to his face at that thought; he places a hand on his chest and the other on his own companion. “Osroes and Rsama, scions of the Parni of Kambacha, at your service.”
