Yeah, that's what they tend to use once they become close enough that separating them by lack of interest or a rival isn't feasible anymore. If it's temporary, like a few years at most, and happen at the end of the manga, they might very well go away for that time (maybe with a distant epilogue when they get back together), but otherwise it's just an obstacle like everything else.

Secret SignatureChapter 133: The president is missing.
Ishigami is a little off to day. But I think that not realizing what's going on is helping his chances, since he doesn't panic.
Oh look, it's the Mass Media Club girls from the spin-off.
Suddenly, the game is afoot Kaguya.
A Shocking Swerve! Not really...
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Chapter out:
Detective Fujiwara caught the scent of mystery and will not rest until she catches the culprit. After all, every thief wants to be caught by the great detective. And there's no mystery she can't unravel... not.
Kaguya managed to figure out who's behind it fairly easily, which nicely shows how well she understands the President. Unfortunately she got a little too sure of herself and an vending machine almost totally derails her plan. Meanwhile President is in the process of comming out of his high. This should be interesting.
This it. Time to place your bets.
Who will confess first?
Kaguya?
Shirogane?
Both?
Neither (and it doesn't get solved in this arc)?

Just finished episode one of this and damn is it great. I don't think Kaguya's that attractive though. I much prefer the other girl in the student council.
Well, part of it is just the artstyle and the imo unflattering uniform, but I don't think anyone ever even calls her attractive? Even the blurb at the beginning introduces focuses on her wealth and her achievements rather than her appearance.
Same with Shirogane, he's got bags under his eyes, etc. I don't think either of them are supposed to be particularly attractive, physically. They're mostly well-known in school for being smart.

Oh god, I love this theme song.
...
I'm going to watch episode of City Hunter now.

Watches Kaguya
... forget what I said.
Okay, this first episode was glorious. It's like watching a romcom with the director of Death Note. Normally I'd have liked for that narrator to shut up, but even that added to the charm. I like the smooth and old-school opening too; sounds like something from the 70's.
I wonder how long the concept can be drawn out though. Especially since we already know that the sole winner of the battle will be Chika.
FlippΓ© de participer Γ ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Narrator is one of the best parts of the series.
Coming in from the anime with a question that I swear I don't mean to be incendiary... do these two ever stop being assholes, or is that part of the comedy? It's fine if it is, but I don't think this show is for me if every chapter hinges on Kaguya being an entitled, spoiled rich girl.
It's been fun.Yes, yes they do.
That's good to hear. I also just finished the first episode, where we're given a bit more (narrator-supported) evidence that she's shy... but seriously, her introduction scenes have her contemptuously stating that someone would need to offer a country to earn her consideration for a date, and then disowning her innocent friend because she's too stuck-up to make her own move. That's not really a good look, especially when her own accomplishments seem to be mostly "daddy has a platinum credit card".
It's true that you need to start at the bottom when it comes to character development, though! I'm just hoping things loosen up on the faster side rather than the slower side, if that makes sense.
It's been fun.Huh, the manga does a much better job of making Kaguya seem more... human. I guess maybe because there are more chapters early on that are from her perspective, so it's not all Miyuki being paranoid/the correct amount of suspicious. The Kaguya-goes-to-school chapter went a long way, too.
But yeah, sorry to just stomp in and complain!

It's been fun.You shouldn't take what the characters say or even think seriously. They're bullshitting half of the time for various reasons. Kaguya is a very awkward, very sheltered girl who hides behind the image of what she's expected to be.
Yeah, the other chapters in volume 1 make that clearer. I'm glad I gave the manga a chance, because while the anime left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth, the manga's going much more smoothly. Will probably continue the anime too, just to see some of these battles animated.
It's been fun.Okay, watching the president try to learn volleyball got me laughing louder than I probably should have. This poor kid.
It's been fun.Prez is usually good at learning things. Except when he isn't. Then he really isn't. And usually, the poor one is the teacher. Who probably deserves it anyway, because they all deserve a fair bit of humility.
Check out my fanfiction!Just hit the first chapter of the fireworks arc and wow, I guess we're moving on from council room sparring. Poor girl.
It's been fun.And now it shall suddenly become surprise tragedy because someone falls from the roof.
Dark jokes aside, yeah, this is hilarious
Ishigami is great. Why is he so great? I suspect part of it is the translator working on this, but that's not a bad thing at all.
Edit: Poor Iino. She's entirely disillusioned.

It's been fun.Ishigami is such a good guuuuy. He's such a good guy. Everyone in the student council is good. I still get flashes of feeling disappointed in Kaguya when she leans on her connections or buys people off, but it's not like she was raised any better.
I feel sorry for Ootomo, too. She doesn't know what really happened, after all.
It's been fun.
As long as she doesn't have to chase him to the airport....
