Wow what an episode! No Lala to drag us away from the Pierce family, Khalil is freed and Jefferson now has a team to go to Markovia with. It may have taken three seasons but I think we finally have our Live Action Outsiders team.

Also I think that the Journey through Khalil story was very similar to something the Flash would do because of the sci-fi elements, but it was still really good stuff.

TC doing a victory dance in Khalil's mind is quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen.

Jace's inability to understand human interaction is too funny.

I was wondering if someone would ever call Tobias out on him being a self-hating black man.

So Khalil's back it seems but for how long?

Wayne Brady choked zero bitches, but he was awesome all the same.

Gravedigger is an interesting foil for Khalil. Both are metas working one side in the ASA-Markovia conflict and both are doing so reluctantly (if Gravedigger's words are to be taken at face value). Whereas Khalil was subject to mind control, Gravedigger has this as his power. Painkiller was a smooth-talking sadist while Gravedigger is Affably Evil.

Wow that was probably the best episode so far. Love this team, hope we get to see more of it!

....I think Jefferson revealed the best secret.

Gravedigger's a great villain and I hope we don't lose him after this season.

I am getting a bit tired of the Jen/Khalil drama, especially when the show acts like it's Khalil's fault for getting close, even though Jen was the one who convinced him to stay around and at least help them on Markovia.

So Gravedigger is basically an evil version of Marvel's Isaiah Bradley.

Seems like we finally have our Big Bad. Great episode!

According to The Other Wiki Gravedigger in the show is a composite of the original Gravedigger's name, origins + some powers and the second Gravedigger's name. I don't know where they got the "push" thing from but I am not arguing for a voice based power to not be on Wayne Brady. I don't think I need to go into detail on Black Lightning's take on the origin story and the racist stuff as that's Stating the Obvious. I was also thinking about how it would be great if Anissa were to join The Canaries due both fiery spirits on the teams working well in my head. Maybe it's tokenism because The Canaries are three hetrosexual white women even though all three are great characters. I don't know, I just get that impression that Anissa would work well in that group.

I really hope that they put Khalil on Legends, it would be good for him.

Legends would be a fracking culture shock.

Hmm, nah, I honestly think Jennifer would be the best fit to be a Legend out of the BL cast.

The Waverider is like a halfway house for super-adjacent people that can't really fit into normal life anymore.

Jen still has a good life, so sure doesn't really fit the criteria, unlike Khalil.

Legends of Tomorrow Showrunner Phil Klemmer said "It was always meant to be halfway home and not a permanent home and that once you've repaired whatever damage you had when you boarded the ship that you probably should make room for another damaged soul." Everyone on Black Lightning has some form of damage to them from being in a super hero show, Jennifer and Khalil are still teens so they are still figuring themselves out as individuals going through the messiness of being black metahumans in a war. They need help but they have support from the Pierce Family and Gambi to grow as healthy young adults, The Legends are all adults and I think together make terrible guardians for teens with powers. There's also the issue that cast that Legends took from other shows only guest star when they go back to the shows they came from which undermines Black Lightning's family message. Basically Jenn and Khalil wouldn't work as Legends for a number of reasons but I think Anissa would make a great Canary.

Khalil can't really lean on the Pierces much, since he still has an evil A. I. in his brain that wants to kill them.

He has Gambi yes, but if I was Khalil I would definitely want to avoid Freeland maybe forever. Plus Sara, as a fellow assassin who also came back to life is uniquely suited to help him out.

Plus I'm pretty sure Khalil is an adult now.

Khalil is supposed to be only 18/19 years old (born in 2001) despite his actor being 11 years older than that.

So... about last night's episode?

When people tell you to do stuff (or not to do it) LISTEN TO THEM JENN!!!

Also, Grace seems to be gaining her comic book powers now, with the idea being that all the shape changing is causing her body to increase in strength as a by-product.

Yeah, after that Gravedigger reveal, I think he and Markovia will definitely stick around for season four.
