The first episode of the anime is out!

It was a damn good first episode too, it adapted the first chapter pretty much perfectly. The atmosphere was thick with tension.

Man, this brings me back. The first arc was something else. Gonna be fun to watch it again.

Been catching up with The Promised Neverland. Just finished Chapter 52. After so long the kids meet the man himself, William Minerva. Excited to see where the story goes from here.

I think it's clear that even though they're only 13, Emma, Ray, Norman, and the others are all adults. They've been fighting a war for the past 18 months, as well as acting as surrogate parents for the younger children. That Norman's growth spurt came so early is symbolic of being forced to grow up fast in order to survive and lead others.

Symbolic isn't likely. More likely the experiments done by Ratri is what really happened to Norman.

Chapter's out.

Norman isn't unusually big after all. And we're finally about to get the information we've all been waiting for.

Thats a relief. The shots made him look much bigger than he really was.

Also this likely gas to do with the Seven Walls Chapter. When the Priestess offers a human body in it, a paper displays the demons normally and animals that they apparently eat. Birds give thrm bird traits, Humans make them larger and more humanoid, insects appear to make them the wild Demons, and snakes? Snakes are shown with just an x.

Yeah, he looked much taller before, probably to obfuscate the fact that it's Norman.

[up]Which chapter was that?

Anime is really good at silence and building tension I have to say :D I mean it does really feel like horror anime in a way

Anyhoo, kinda wondering about it, if in this Peter Pan reference the manga, if demons are the crocodile, what is equivalent of clock going tick tock?

So with three episodes out, would you say that the anime is a good adaptation of the source material?

Hmm, yeah, I had figured out from foreshadowing that his plan would be genocide [lol]

But yeah, I don't think that is how it actually even works considering the demons who refuse to eat farm humans (and Musica is noted to have NEVER eaten human meat)

The picture from the temple shown when looking for the Seven Walls does show eating birds doesn't devolve them the way eating other animals do. They gain bird traits though but smaller humanoid bodies. Snakes are a dead end though for some reason.

Also something confirmed in Japanese is that Lewis/Leuvis is Demon Royalty. Fifth in Line to be exact. With the brief insight to his mind showing Sung-joo and Musica the implication is Musica herself is likely royalty and related to him. And as we see sees pretty human herself despite demons features. Lewis also has bird traits too.

But otherwise yeah Musica is living proof this plan doesn't actually work, as she's never eaten a single human in her life and what human genes she likely does have came from her parents.

Then again Musica might be a unique case, who elvolved beyond the need to eat humans. Sonju did say that she never "had" to eat humans, implying she's an exception. And as for Sonju… he might have managed to keep his sentience through good ol' cannibalism.

Still, if Emma can remember those two, that will be a serious wrench in Norman's plan. Though I doubt she will agree with it anyway. She'll probably look for a way to solve the need to eat humans − and look for Musica.

Uh no he's religious. He's not eaten humans cause its not Kosher at the present time and he follows his religion over giving in to his base desires. So him indulging in cannibalism is kinda reaching when there's no evidence of it, especially as the bird evolution implies they can still remain humanoid and intelligent, with bird traits that haven't overwritten their human traits in a 1000+ years. In fact Musicas short height and bird feet are the best signs of eating birds. Sung-joo is no different.

Demons become bigger than their base demon heights from eating humans too, so Lewis and Bayon are so tall and big because its one of the benefits of eating humans. The huge hulking demons can easily be from eating humans and other animals, getting traits of both since thats a Non-nobility thing demons also do even with human in their diet.

Yeah, I feel pretty comfortable saying Emma wouldn't be up for total genocide even if she didn't meet Musica and Sun-Joo.

Depending on how much Norman is telling truthful I can’t helps but pity the Demons.

I mean Jesus their sentience is dependent on devouring humans, without them they’d go back to being basically mindless animals.

It’s an awful state of being.

Well, this explains a lot of the stuff about demons, like why there are so many different variations, or why they're so hellbent on eating humans.

What a terrifying idea, a constantly evolving predator who started to prey on humans, evolved past them and made them it's main food source.

So demons are the source of all of humanity stories about supernatural creatures.

Ow, those scenes of Demon "experiments" are just horrifying.

I like Norman plan. It deals with the source of their problems instead of just trying to escape from them, and is more grounded in reality than Enma nonsensical idea.

Shlugo also likes Hameline's mass murder plan in Radiant, so I'm not too surprised. evil grin

But well, it can be a good duel of pragmatism vs. idealism.

Of course, genocide is always the answer! tongue

Seriously tho, what else is there to do? This is not a conflict that can be resolved by words. How do you peacefully coexist with creatures for whom you are an indispensable food source?

Outside of some magical "now the demons don't have to eat humans anymore" cop-out solution, they either have to accept that demons will continue eating humans, or get rid of them.

Except we already know there's a supernatural being the Demons pray too who exists and has even appeared before Emma. Even the demons offer humans to [____] as well in the ritual they planned to give Emma, Ray, and Norman to originally.

So not only is the plan not actually feasible with what we've seen with Musica and Sung-joo, but if [_____] finds it unappealing he might even do something that is a Fate Worse than Death to all the kids that makes being cattle a blessing.

From episode 3, it seems they're not even gonna try. The demons just call him "ano kata" ("that person" or "him/her/them").
