Welcome to the Signup Thread for The Good, The Bad and The Spandex, a play-by-post RPG for original (that is, player-created) Superhero characters!

-The setting of the story will be Easton City, a fictional American metropolis. Feel free to help develop the city in the Discussion Thread.

-You character may be a hero, villain or anti-hero. You may control multiple characters at once, but you cannot prevent other player characters from interacting with them. In case of conflicts, the GM has the final word.

  • Note that characters are free to do whatever they want in the game. But they must must accept the logical consequences- heroes who kill without justification will be reclassified as Antiheroes or even Villains (even if, in-game, nobody finds out.)

-Combat: No autohitting. Only a player can decide if his or her character is affected, and how. But by that same rule: No invulnerability. No matter how strong your character, it must have a convenient weakness that WILL allow it to be affected. In case of doubt, the GM decides.

  • A Note on Minions: your characters can have sidekicks/minions, as many as you want. But these are expendable characters, who unlike main characters may be defeated, even killed by others.

-Maximum Power level is Super Weight 3. So, nothing disaster-causing.

-You can join or leave the game at any time, but Please let us know first.

Here is the Character Sheet:

  • Identity: name, Hero/Villain/Antihero, job and whether it's secret
  • Powers & Abilities: and weakness if any
  • Description: (you can link to a picture if you want)
  • Personality: how he or she usually behaves
  • Background: his/her/its origin

THE TRAVELER

  • Identity: Simon Jones, interdimensional traveler (Hero, secret id)

  • Powers & Abilities:

    • Dimensional Travel: Can travel to any place, using portals only he can see. He cannot control these portals, however.

    • Adaptation: Quickly adapts to dangerous environments in order to survive in them.

    • Alchemical Concoctions: several potions, powders etc. that, when released, can create a variety of temporary environmental changes in a small area. He carries them in a special belt.

    • Highly experienced adventurer.

  • Description: Latino male, in his 20's. Doesn't usually wear a costume, but when necessary puts this one on [1].

  • Personality: Quietly intellectual. Tends not to show emotion, unless innocents are threatened.

  • Background: Simon inherited his powers from an ancestor who was a sorcerer. He discovered them as a child, but when he told his family they thought he was making up stuff and forbid him from talking such nonsense. He continued to experiment in secret, thought. By the time he was a teenager, his parents died; no longer feeling bound to his home Earth, Simon left it and began a lifelong exploration of the Omniverse. Recently, Simon made a deal with Witch Hazel to serve as a bodyguard for her and her ward. In exchange he gets a place to stay and alchemical potions to help trigger his adaptations at will.

I'm interested, though I'm not sure what character to play yet.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

MINDSEYE

  • Identity: Ilene Irving, private investigator and head of Irving Investigations. At the moment, she and Mindseye are the only person working there- Ilene takes care of administration and Mindseye does the actual sleuthing (though isn't it awfully suspicious how Ilene and Mindseye are never seen together despite both working for Irving Investigations?).

  • Powers:
    • Telepathy: Ilene is able to project her thoughts and perceive the thoughts, memories, and emotions of others. Her range extends to across the continent, and had she continued training with the Psi-Lord, her range could have extended across the planet.
      • Illusions: Ilene is capable of creating vivid illusions that only the most skilled psychics can see through, which she usually uses to hide her identity as Mindseye.
      • Mental coercion: Mindseye can influence others' minds- not control, but influence. While she hypothetically could, doing so would compromise her ethics.
    • Clairvoyance: Ilene can perceive occurrences happening elsewhere to a person, usually requiring an object belonging to the person, as well as being aware of phenomena that doesn't affect most people, like ghosts.
    • Precognition: Ilene can see possible futures, based on the most likely outcomes of situations. To access her precognition, she must go into a trance state and not be disturbed in the slightest.
    • Altered physiology: Ilene's body has been altered to allow her to breathe the toxic atmosphere and survive the blazing temperature of Venus. She is immune to most gas-based toxins and is very resistant to heat.
    • Martial arts: While far from a grandmaster, Ilene is a skilled enough martial artist to hold her own against most opponents.

  • Description: A Caucasian woman, nineteen years old, with very pale skin, white hair, purple eyes, and an aquiline nose. Her hair and eye color are illusions to protect her identity as Ilene Irving; they're actually both brown. Mindseye usually wears a purple dress with a purple and gold chest insignia shaped like an eye, while Ilene wears a lilac dress and brown coat.

  • Personality: Due to spending twelve years on Venus, Ilene is rather unworldly and naive. She's hardly stupid, however, and she takes great offense at any perceived condescension or insult. She's very proud, prickly, and cold, partially out of necessity, since otherwise she could end up overwhelmed by others' thoughts and feelings, but as she spends more time on Earth she grows more accustomed to being around others and becomes more open and friendly. She truly wants to be a hero and do the right thing, but her pride and lack of socialization sometimes hinders her.

  • Background:
    • Ilene was seven when her home was destroyed thanks to her parents' experiments with cosmic energy. Her parents were killed in the resulting explosion, but Ilene was saved by the Psi-Lord of Venus, who sensed Ilene's telepathic potential and wanted to train her. He was getting on in years, and believed that Ilene would one day be worthy to carry the title Psi-Lord.

    • Ilene spent twelve years training on Venus, and then one day she discovered that the Psi-Lord could have saved her parents as well, but deliberately let them die so he could have an easier time training her. Furious at him, she decided to return to Earth, believing that she could use her powers to make sure nobody went through the pain of losing their loved ones like she did. On Earth, she formed Irving Investigations, working for it in both her identities.

THE BEAR

  • Identity: Lenora Sanderssen
  • Alignment: Hero
  • Powers & Abilities: Lenora calls it Economancy. She can telekinetically manipulate any sort of currency out to a hundred feet and with great power and accuracy. She can also sense money in a sort of radar-like fashion, "pinging" in order to find it before grasping it with her powers. She's been able to use up to 150 pounds of money at a time, and can throw it around with enough force to propel coins like bullets.
  • Description: Lenora has really fluffy blonde hair and dark green eyes. She is about 5'4" and weighs 175 pounds, with a bit of a beer gut. In costume she just puts on a pair of jeans, a bullet-proof vest under a military surplus jacket, and a big stylized bear head.
  • Personality: Lenora is dryly sarcastic and nihilistic most of the time, if only to cover up how much she actually believes in anything she says. She's a militant anarchist/socialist, and states her opinions as if they were facts. She has problems with cops and laws, and believes governments should be there to help people, not control them. She's also seen what happens when you try to stand up to the government, and what happens if you dare to exist wrong around them too, and believes there needs to be a push back. A violent one, if necessary.
  • Background:
    • Lenora was raised in a really welcoming and friendly house, but also one that was kinda high-strung most of the time. Mom had anxiety and Dad had depression, so shit was kind of always on the verge of falling apart. She didn't want that to happen, so she really buckled the fuck down and focused. She got real good at History, and wrote some good stuff in high school, getting into all the good classes for smart kids.
    • When Lenora got to college, her life kind of started a new phase. She learned about all these great thinkers and revolutionaries, people who could change the world for the better, and also how most of them were gunned down in the street or failed by their own revolutions. She also got to learn more about herself: namely, that oh, huh, she was a girl this whole time, how bout that shit! That didn't go well with the jobs she was trying to hold onto to pay for college, though. Time after time, she got her ass fired over her gender identity. Eventually, her savings dried up, and Lenora didn't have the money to support her education anymore. She also didn't have the heart to tell her parents about it. She insisted on taking care of all the payments herself, that they shouldn't worry, and that she was taking a gap year between Sophomore and Junior year to get a job and some cash. She eventually got a job at an antiques joint, a place in a nice part of town that paid decently well... only for her to get fired again. This time, though, uh, fuck those guys, she stole a cool-ass little statue that prolly got stolen by someone's Vietnam Vet grandpa anyway.
    • That turned out pretty good for her, actually. A series of really fucked up and lucid dreams revealed to Lenora that the statue was, in fact, magic, and was going to give her some crazy powers, because the spirit inside wanted to watch her fuck shit up and go on entertaining adventures. She gained the ability to manipulate money, because it was cool and thematic, and Lenora almost immediately knew what to do. She started training herself as the rent ran down, and went to some weird friends of hers to build her costume on that last day. She actually didn't know at first that bears were a stock market thing, but all the same built an identity as The Bear as a new means of gainful employment and survival. She robbed her first bank on the day rent was due, and realized that no, it was more than just gainful employment. Lenora seized that moment as the start of her own journey to grasp the beast of possibility and forge a new future for the United States, to reforge it as so many revolutionaries had done in the past and right every wrong she saw in the country.

[up][up] "Oriental City." Um. That's, uh. ...I'm not going to go into the reasons why that bothers me, but could you please come up with a better name?

EDIT: Actually, I didn't realize that was actually where our RP was set. Can I call veto on that name...?

THE CONDUCTOR!!!

  • Identity: Amadeus von Hertz, supervillain and full time jerk (totally not a secret)
  • Powers & Abilities:
    • Human Generator: Due to a strange freak accident during a lightning storm, the Conductor's body gained the ability to store, move, and produce electrical energy. Not only does this give a potent (if chaotic) power to wield, it's also ill advised to simply get into fisticuffs with him without taking into account that shocking fact. However, he has the effective build of a human stick, so he cannot take much punishment.
      • Suit & Baton: The lightning in his body is a chaotic thing, incredibly difficult to control and what's more, simply making day to day living a pain. However, with his specially designed insulated clothing, he can more or less interact with mundane objects without fear of frying them. His special 15" conductor's baton also allows him to better focus and channel the electrical energy into tangible forms and shapes, creating swords, whips, fists and other such objects.
    • Captive Audience: The Conductor has the power to telepathically communicate with those around him, speaking directly into their minds. Lacking any strategic finesse, he opts to simply shout abuses and project classical music. To everyone around.
  • Description: A thin, wiry man at 5'10", the Conductor is not especially tall, but his narrow build makes him seem as such. This is amplified by his tuxedo, a classically black suit with rather sharp electric blue lines running vertically down them. His skin is ghostly pale and his hair is equally white, which he wears in large curls like a judge's wig. Along with his tux, he wears a set of gloves with a pair of small, symmetric lightning bolts on the backhand. His eyes are an airy blue.
  • Personality: If you had ever met the Conductor before he became a villain, you may have considered him possibly the rudest, most arrogant and misanthropic, and simply outright terrible person you ever had the dishonor of meeting. As you can imagine, his disposition was not improved by becoming a human battery. He saw society as becoming degenerate... 80+ years ago, in the time of World War 2. His opinion on the matter, if anything, has worsened.
  • Background: A middle aged German man who served as a conductor in the 20s and 30s, Amadeus von Hertz was already a relic in the era he was born, during the arrival of jazz, swing, and big band. This came to a head when a freak lightning storm struck him down and imbued him with his electrical powers, likely frying what little sanity he had in the process. Stealing an experimental flying war train, the Conductor wrecked havoc all across Europe. Unfortunately, due to his... poor timing and the faction he had stolen the flying lighting death train from, he was associated with Nazi forces. Despite vehemently screaming into the minds of his enemies otherwise. Finally, after some climatic battle with one superhero or another, the Conductor's body was lost to the ice, never to be seen again.
    • ...at least until the modern day, where an upstart supremacy group, hearing of the dangerous and powerful general who leveled so many battlefields with his power, thawed out their hero in the misguided and misinformed hopes that he would lead them to a glorious purified era. His immediate response? "I! AM NOT! A NAZI!!!" Then he blew up their base. Naturally, the headlines read about the terrible revival of a dangerous Nazi supercriminal, but that didn't matter to him. What mattered was, this year was degenerate, this world was degenerate, its people were degenerate, and most importantly, SOMEONE STOLE HIS TRAIN. Going on a whirling rampage, the Conductor learned his train was placed in a museum somewhere in this city. So, he arrives...

#10: Jul 13th 2016 at 11:25:12 PM

Okay so here's my dude. TLDR: He basically "transforms" like the Hulk, except into Cavemen and Crusaders and Cowboys instead of a powerful green rage-monster.

Also I set the date in the backstory with the assumption that the RP takes place around 2016, however if it actually takes place in another year I can adjust it accordingly.

  • Identity: While mild-mannered Don Joe may seem like your typical homeless man, he is actually the superhero FLASHBACK!
  • Powers & Abilities:
    • Post-Reincarnation Stress Disorder: As a result of infinite reincarnations, when FLASHBACK is subjected to a situation that requires the spirit of a warrior, soldier, or hero in general, his body has a "Flashback" to a highly-skilled warrior spirit that is appropriate in some manner for the situation. In addition, his new form has the ability to summon and use the weapons, armor, and ammunition that would have been available to the soldier in their time period. For instance, he could transform into a loincloth-wearing caveman with a large rock and a spear when fighting a bioengineering mammoth, and he could transform into a WWII-era M1-Garand and Bazooka-wielding soldier when fighting zombie Nazis. He is only able to transform or summon weapons for people who would have existed before January 1st, 2016, which means he cannot transform into a product of science-fiction or futurism.
    • Peak human ability: FLASHBACK's own physical strength and ability in any form is not super-powered, however it is well beyond average as it represents the peak physical statistics of whatever person he transforms into.
  • Description: A regular-looking man with medium-length black hair, tan white skin, green eyes, and a perpetual five-o-clock shadow. Usually wears boots of some sort, jeans, and a t-shirt. However, his power causes him to constantly change appearance.
  • Personality: FLASHBACK has nigh-infinite personalities, which vary depending on when he flashes back too. Generally, his personalities are some form of heroic warrior from their era. While the personas do not remember anything aside from their own lifetime, all of the things they do while having a Flashback are remembered by Don, who himself has no memories from before January 1st, 2016. Don is a rather simple man, as he hasn't lived life very long, although he has strong heroic moral convictions as a result of being the culmination of infinitely-reincarnated heroes.
  • Background: Throughout the universes and history there have been countless warrior souls reincarnated over countless lifetimes, always finding another place and another time where they were needed again. However, by some twist of fate involving ghosts, magnets, and a nuclear waste disposal site just outside of Oriental City, these souls were all forcibly combined into a single entity on January 1st, 2016. The resulting man woke up in a park bench in Oriental City park. While he seemed like your typical incredibly-well-built homeless man, in truth he was the physical manifestation of these warrior spirits. Now, whenever he stumbles upon a damsel in distress, bank robbery, or boy with a cat stuck in a tree, FLASHBACK is there to help.

Excellent ideas all around! Congratulations, you are all approved! A couple of things, tho:

  • please list if your character is a Hero, Villain or Anti-Hero. Forgot about that one. tongue
  • I also forgot that "Oriental" can also mean "Asian" so I'm going to change the City's name to Eastern (yeah, I know boring, but hey, I DO suck at names, I'm open to suggestions here.) Please change any references in your Intros to the new Name.

Ok I think we are ready to start, I will post the actual Game Thread tonight. This is STILL OPEN and will remain so, so don't let that stop you!

Perhaps Easton?

Also, I'm thinking of using a sort of Aquaman / Aqualad type hero, though I'm not sure if that would be too "original".

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

Hmm.. Easton may work, what do you guys think?

Also, by "Original" I mean "not created in official media" not that it *has* to be unique. So you can't play as Aquaman, but you can make your own Aquatic Hero. Sorry for the confusion.

I like Easton. There's an Easton neighborhood in my hometown of Columbus, it's a very plausible name while still sounding good and catchy.

Easton works for me, too. And I'm really sorry about not realizing how skeevy the the previous name was- at the time of writing my application, I was half-asleep, though I should have been more aware regardless. Thanks for pointing it out, Starbound (and the Conductor is a really awesome character concept, kudos!).

NP Cs, pending some kinda choice. Or maybe I won't, and I'll just make a bunch of possible NP Cs for Sijo to use. I dunno.

Amethyst

  • Arashi Adams, aspiring super hero. His identity is an open secret, too many witnesses saw his empowerment. (He is very Saiyan-y, but a very silly one)
  • Like all the crystal bearers, the violet crystal carried with it some of the genetic material of its previous host and exploited both it and his for every possible super power both sets of metagenes could possibly produce; cannibalizing solar, electromagnetic, thermal and even magical energy and more to power the results. Amethyst has two special notes to his powers that particularly differentiate him from other bearers (besides the specific powers, which is different for every bearer). One, each power is administrated by a crystal "organ", most of them protruding out of his body. When he uses that power, the organ lights up. Damaging the organ damages his connection to that power. Two, he can increase the energy input from his cannibalization. To do so, has to stand around, clench up his body and shout at the top of his lungs, glowing brightly like a Christmas tree. He can then shunt the energy to a specific power.
    • Regeneration: This power is administered by the crystal set into his base chakra. This one is hidden in his body. The crystal in his body has set-up an extent hive network of itself through out his whole body. It will slowly, but very thoroughly, heal him from any damage. For example, a lost limb would take months to regrow, but it will do that. It will even back up his mind (and trap his soul) in case of total body failure, lying in stasis as it attempts to revive him. What's more, he will grow stronger for every injury, as weaker crystal "cells" die first and are replaced by replicants of stronger survivors. Out of necessity, the base chakra crystal will prioritize its regeneration, but it's rarely damaged.
    • Pseudo-Teleportation: Administered by a small crystal set in his belly button over his stomach chakra. He flings himself at a spot at speeds beyond even his own ability to see, reappearing in a purple blur. He can apply this speed to his limbs rather than his whole body, but it becomes very hard to terminate, say, a flurry of super speedy blows once it's began, and he sure as heck hasn't learned to properly combo.
    • Super Strength: Administered by a baby fist sized crystal set into his sternum over his solar plexus chakra. It's run-of-the-mill superstrength, maybe just shy of the upper end of mid-tier.
    • Energy projection: Administered by a fist sized crystal set in his chest over his heart chakra. It's laser beams, although it acts like and resembles fire a bit. Any left over "flames" burn out really quickly and it "burns" not with heat but with shear, tearing destruction.
    • Energy projection II: Administered by a baby fist sized crystal set into his throat over his chakra. It's energy shields, the projections being more solid constructs. He can wrap his skin in a bodyforming armor or project a bubble shield around himself. He's working on learning how to project a bubble shield away from himself. He has learned how to manipulate the shape of the shield to an extent.
    • Flight: Administered by a thumb sized crystal set in his forehead over his brow chakra. It's slow and clumsy, but he's capable of projection an invisible force beneath his feet to stand on.
    • Mental Protection / Energy Sensing: Administered by a baby fist sized crystal nestled in his hair on top of his head over his crown chakra. Firstly, there's some amount of psychic protection on his brain. It can perform several telepathic attacks, defenses and other maneuvers, but lacks the ability to project and establish said links in the first place. It pretty much only comes into play if a telepath attacks him first or if an ally telepath establishes a link for him. Besides that, secondly, he's far more aware of the flow of energy going on around him.
    • He can also do this thing, ya know, where he makes his eyes glow and he gives his voice an extra special other-wordly warble to it. It tends to come up automatically when he's pissed but he also does it at will.
  • A sixteen year old kid of European-Asian mixed descent. He's on the short side, well-muscled. His hair is long and black and has become spiky with purple highlights as crystals grow into his hair follicles, making it look like a porcupine lives on top of his head.
    • He has two costumes he uses out of indecisive-ness. One is a pair of jeans, a brown open leather vest with purple trimmings and a purple bandana over his lower face. There'd also be a cowboy hat, but his new hair wouldn't cooperate, so it hangs uselessly around his neck. The other is a leather-latex body-suit, all in black with purple highlights, and a biker-looking helmet he will force down on his hair if it's the last thing he does, one that only exposes his eyes.
  • A mean-temper aided by a sense of justice. Also, jokes. Oh so many jokes, and every single type of humor. Even when he's angry, he's making jokes. Puns are his favorite, innuendos are a close-second, non-sequiturs are welcome party crashers. Dry wit and sarcasm come into play when it's time to slide in the knife.
    • Most people assume he's gay, albeit a very Hard Gay. He doesn't know what gave people this idea, he's just likes showing off his chest a lot, and sometimes (half-the-time) wears a jumpsuit leaving little to the imagination, especially when he starts zipping down the front because seriously guys have you seen my abs they're amazing look at 'em. He's a vain macho bird.
    • Truthfully, he has little libido or sexual inclination to speak of. The idea of sex is funny to him. He does have romantic inclinations, and they're all aimed at women. This doesn't stop him from flirting with anyone he thinks finds him attractive, because he really likes innuendos and reminding himself that he's, indeed, attractive. When interviewed, he's answered questions about his sexuality with "I'm fabulous." before, because it amused him at the time to do so.
  • He's a rebellious military brat. His father a travelling American soldier, his mother a Japanese housewife. He normally jumped between the States and Japan. He was a problem child, getting into fights, standing up to bullies wherever he saw them. He was in the middle of one particularly large fight when, somewhere off the coast of the Philippines, The Violet Heroine fell in battle. Her violet crystal found and implanted itself in his body not more than an hour later.

Just posting to mention that I do have my character concept formulated, though I'm still working on typing out all the details. Don't know exactly when I'm gonna finish it or how long it will take (especially since I'm not focusing all my attention on it) but it might come up tonight or possibly tomorrow. Don't wanna say what it is just yet, but backstory and stuff should be interesting.

  • Powers & Abilities:
    • THE SUMMER ENDS: Basically she has a device strapped on her(see description) that stops time but it's only effective at her arm's reach. Outside of the bubble, everything proceeds as per normal and anyone can see her moving. Most importantly, she cant hurt anyone inside of the bubble with her own fist and any objects previously in motion doesn't stay in motion after the effect shut off. Everything stops except her, why the fuck would kinetic energy suddenly be regained?
    • Beyond that, she also has some expertise in mixed martial arts, specializing in muay thai, wrestling and Brazilian jiu jitsu
  • Description:
    • Ooohohohoho! So you want to see my civvie self, eh? How boring of you! I'm also 6 feet tall, jealous?
    • and here's my superpower suit, worn by some dumb model. The piece in the middle of the chest is the most important part, since it's a processor for everything I need to stop time, the rest of the suit 'flows' those time stopping power all over my body and radiate it out. By the way, this 'photoshoot' was actually a test to see if it's actually safe, unlike last time. Ain't my parents great? <3
    • As for concealing my face, I love the aesthetic of that Dark Soul 3 waifu, so I hired a couple of intern from my parent's company and have them develop a one way seeing blindfold jewelry just like this one. I'm telling ya, this is sooo gonna be a new fad.
  • Personality: You know how diamonds are mined and some goes into jewelries and some are used in cutting tools? Cass likes to fancy herself as the cutting tool, instead of seeking to be proper and pretty, she seeks thrills and danger and what better attraction for such things than to meddle in the affairs of the superheroes. That doesn't mean she won't act like she's posh or dabble into the fashion scene a little. Also, just because she's a competitive person doesn't mean she doesn't have a soft spot or sportsmanship.
  • Background:
    • Cass is the daughter of the famous husband and wife CEO team of Ainsworth Tech engineering brand, which mostly specializing in making techs for the military but they do dabble in police and civilian tech industry as well. For the most part of her life, however, she has been far from being militarized. Despite her very fluffy lifestyle, she's one of those people who work hard, plays hard. An A student of mathematics and all sort of science on one hand, a very studious pupil of MMA and a sweaty tryhard of various online games(with various success) on the other. It's her idea of fun.
    • Recently, she had been having thoughts about all those superheroes/villains affair of theirs and thought to herself if there were a tournament not too dissimilar to MMA to see who's the best superpowered bloke all around. Well, there's no tournament to speak of but that doesn't mean one can't absolutely reign supreme over others by their ability alone. And of course, Cass entertained the thought of being number one but she hadn't really got an opportunity to do so since, well, she's just a regular pleb with no power. That is, until the Ainsworth Tech discontinue a miltary's personal time manipulation project in that it is too expensive to mass produce, too short ranged and cannot be used in conjunction of guns and artilleries, among all sort of other problems. Desperate to get rid of their greatest failure in a form of a prototype, her parents asked if Cass could keep it. She sees it and all she saw was a grand opening to an epic debut of Joie De Vivre. And now that she's out of high school and is essentially waiting for college to be around...

Corvid

  • Identity: Isaac Blythe. Currently unemployed, living off a sizeable inheritance. Hero with a regrettably public identity.
  • Powers & Abilities: Normally, he doesn't have any actual powers, although he is at near-peak physical fitness. He is bonded to the Charge Beak, a mystical bird that comes when he calls and turns into a bracer that lets him transform into a powered form by declaring "flock in". There is a hidden button on the underside he can use to transform silently but he hasn't figured this out yet.
    • Transformation: His Corvid form improves his physical abilities, making him generally faster, stronger and more durable as well as automatically generating his armoured costume. He also has the ability to fly, use his wings as a shield and telepathically communicate with birds; the later allows him to control them and see remotely through their eyes. He can extend sharp claws and talons, which are capable of tearing through most materials. His visor also enhances the sight in his remaining eye and has a small system of mirrors to slightly enhance his field of view.
  • Description: In his regular form, Isaac has notable facial scaring but otherwise looks like a fairly normal 18 year old; pale white skin, short curly black hair and a fairly unambitious attempt at fashion. His eyes are a light blue, with the left being a prosthetic; it's capable of movement but he can't actually see out of it and the shade of blue is somewhat off. He usually wears an ornate silver ring - based upon one his mother wore, although not the same as the original was destroyed.
    • As Corvid, he wears black and grey armour. While it looks fairly light it offers good protection and allows him to move agilely. He has two large black wings which can be used for flight but can also curve around in odd shapes and act as a shield. His helmet is decorated like a bird's head, with the visor in the beak.
  • Personality: Isaac is understandably scarred by past experiences but is serious to a fault; he generally sees the worst in people and is hesitant to ally with others even when he needs help. He is generally brusque when he does interact with others and tries not to form deep connections so as to avoid any risk of betrayl or loss. He cares about justice and the greater good but can be too brutal in trying to obtain it.
  • Background:
    • Isaac was born in London and raised by his mother Anna alone, as his father left when he discovered she was pregnant. Unbeknownst to him, his mother was actually a superhero known as The Crow, fighting crime using mystical bird powers. She became well-known as the defender of London but made powerful enemies, the most notable being a violent criminal called the Fowler. Eventually, when Isaac was 15, Fowler learned Anna's identity and kidnapped Isaac to lure her into a trap. Fowler hacked into numerous TV signals and broadcast from his hideout, revealing Anna's identity to the whole nation and then broadcasting as Fowler and The Crow fought. When it seemed like she could win, Fowler set off a bomb, killing them both; while Isaac survived, he was hit by shrapnel which took out his left eye.
    • In the wake of that incident, Isaac was effectively orphaned and he was reeling from the revelation that his mother had been a superhero while the footage of her death was spreading. Now recognized by many as "that dead hero's kid" he became a recluse and struggled to move on even as time passed.
    • When The Crow died the Charge Beak, which was the source of her powers, was never found. Months after his mother's death, Isaac started noticing strange things; birds were following him around, he was seeing strange flashes of sky when he walked around and he kept having a recurring nightmare of falling. Eventually, while at his mother's grave, the Charge Beak appeared to him. Initially he refused it, not wanting part of what got his mother killed but it continued to follow him around and he eventually began to reconsider.
    • Isaac started using the power of the Charge Beak, accepting that with it he could help people and find a sense of purpose. However, he couldn't bear the people still recognizing him from his mother's death so he took the advice of another London hero and moved across the world to America; his identity was still public but few people would recognize him and he could live in peace. He didn't want to just take his mother's role but finally decided on becoming a hero and choose the name of Corvid.

Update Halloween/October:

  • Description: Since fighting the giant robots and Dark Witch, Corvid's been attempting to improve his superheroics; he's researched the various heroes and villains found around Easton and become aware of the more public figures. He's also softened a bit and been making ((NPC) friends and contacts around Easton, which led to a brief but ill-advised relationship with Percussion. While this did have the unfortunate effect of attracting media attention, he did manage to get an Ekho-tech upgrade out of it.
  • Powers
    • Machine Corvidae: A large black motorbike, considerably bulkier than any normal bike. The front is shaped like a raven's head (with lights in the eyes), while wings decorate the side. It's equipped with enough armour to resist super-attacks and is powerful and rugged enough to ride on any terrain. Additionally, it has an autopilot that can bring it to him if it's far away.
    • Armour mode: The bike can transform into an additional layer of armour for Corvid (named Corvid Predator by Percussion, although even Isaac considers that excessively edgy). The armour layers on top of his existing costume, making it incredibly bulky and adding some silver features to the black and grey. It also adds extra talons to the right arm which can be fired as projectiles on a retractable wire. However, the extra protection comes at the cost of weight so he can only jump and glide rather than properly fly.

Well, that was longer and darker than I intended it to be but I guess that isn't too uncommon in modern superheroes. I am intending for him to lighten up a bit over time.

I likewise have 95% of my sheet done, I'm just blocked on the powers, annoyingly. Ferrous Maelstom, my backstory is probably not going to be entirely sweetness and light either. smile

GOA: Great character! I'll wait for now while you decide if/who you will play as.

Joie De Vivre: Accepted.

Corvid: accepted.

Hmm. I have the first story post almost ready, but should I wait one more day to give some of you time to finish?

I'm gonna probably drop out of the game, actually. Life has been getting in the way.

Good luck to all!

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

OK I've decided to make the first post later this evening. (I'm on Atlantic Time so that might be earlier to some of you.)

CAPTAIN COMET

Identity: Alan Glenn

Alignment: Hero

Powers & Abilities: Super strength (around Spider-Man level), unbreakable skin, heightened reflexes and slightly above peak human athleticism. He also has some useful tech/machinery made for him by Future Corp to help him fight crime. Most notably, the Comet Car and the Grappling Gun.

Weaknesses: His unbreakable skin is only that; he can't be penetrated by a blade or a bullet but he can still be hurt by the blunt trauma from either of those things, depending on how severe it is. He is also very vulnerable to any kind of magic or psychic powers.

Description: Around six feet tall, muscular build, brown hair, brown eyes and a cleft chin. His superhero costume looks like this: https://postimg.org/image/nl1e7osif/ I know it's a bad quality photo, but I made the costume with Heromachine on a mobile phone so there was nothing I could do. The costume is simple though.

Personality: Alan has a compulsive need to be as important, and this shows in his double life as a superhero. He tends to cause more problems than he solves but lacks the self awareness to realize it. He sees himself as the world's greatest superhero even though most people don't even know he exists. When he's in a team he'll usually try to act as the leader, even when there are other members far more competent than he is. His arrogance is entirely unwarranted and the people he knows find him rather annoying to be around. Despite all of this, he is a genuinely friendly and trustworhy guy with high moral standards, he just goes about it in the wrong way. His problem is that he jumped into the superhero job without any training and it shows when he's fighting crime.

Background: Alan's father, Gordon, is a world famous multi-billionaire, former scientist/inventor and the acting president/CEO of his own technology company, Future Corp. He has a younger brother named Gordon Jr. who was a child genius and became a scientist like their father and is set to be the heir to the company and the fortune. Growing up, Alan proved to be completely unremarkable in every way compared to both of them. Although his father was always disappointed in him, his mother always treated him kindly and loved him for who he is. This didn't stop him from feeling inferior to and jealous of his younger brother, however, so he eventually cut all ties with all of them. He dropped out of college and started work as a clerk at a convenience store. Alan's life changed on his way home one night when he saw a meteor fall from the sky just miles away. Acting impulsively, he rushed to the scene to see it up close. He reached out his hand to touch it and it exploded in his face with a blinding light, knocking him out. He came to just minutes later, and, feeling exhausted, decided to head home and go to sleep. When he woke up, he realized that he grew a few inches taller and became muscular over night. Realizing (due to his love of movies and TV) that he probably gained superpowers, he went out to test that theory. He was right. He went to go tell his brother about it, who then convinced him to fight crime, telling him he'd give him te resources to do so. Calling himself Captain Comet, donning a handmade costume, Alan set out to put a stop to all crime in Easton!
