Raids and a couple specific tasks. Like with G-Ponyta, Niantic really wants people to grind hard (and maybe buy several dozen raid passes per shiny).

GO Fest tickets are being sold for $5 instead of $15 to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the game. Cool I suppose.

I been seeing a good amount of dark types spawning for me.

It's the "five different dark species" that's been an issue for me. It's genuinely taken days, and I popped an incense, and still only at four.

As expected, I couldn't even get past the 4th set of quests on that Luminous questline before it went away. Terribly grindy and for someone with a real life, that was impossible for me to complete. I don't mind grindy quests like that if there are NO TIME LIMITS - but you give me a 3-4 month long grindfest questline and only 2 weeks to complete it? I'm out.

Depends on what "life" one has, but I managed to finish the quests just fine. The rewards were pretty meh anyway so you didn't miss out on much.

It also depends on the place. Spawns for the various required things can be pretty bad in certain places. Where I live, good luck getting enough anything without going downtown or to the university.

While I did eventually manage the one I talked about, I got to "defeat 3 Rocket Leaders" with just under two days left and gave up at that point. Maybe if I was willing to visit a whole lot of pokestops, but I don't care that much and I have other stuff to do.

Leaders also spawn in balloons if you're willing to wait.

It's impossible to get enough balloons to do all three in two days, though. You need a minimum of 21 encounters, and even at the accelerated spawn rate, balloons only showed up six times per day (midnight, 4, 8, noon, 4, 8). And that's if people are willing to ruin their sleep for that. In practice, the average person is getting four encounters at most. That's way short of making the three leaders in two days.

Wow, it took them now to add Goomy to 10 km eggs huh. Glad I saved all the candies.

I hope to get one cause all the ones I caught and received in trades are all fucking shit.

I'm still laughing over how people hated the Swablu comday so much that they announce the Gible comday before Swablu comday even started

It's kind of a shame that way. I personally like the floofy design, but Swablu had already been pushed by so many other events (not to mention being a somewhat common random spawn) that people were just inevitably not going to be interested.

I'd imagine a point against swablu for comday is that it takes 400 candies to evolve, so unlike other comdays where (assuming it's a 3 stage) 400 candies allows you to fully evolve 3 pokemon and have enough left over to get to the first evolution, that many swablu candies only gets you 1 altaria

Presumably, the thing is that Swablus are A: Already fairly common and B: Give candy at a rate of 1/km.

So if you want Swablu candy, it's already 3x easier to get than most Pokemon.

TBH, it took until the community day to get myself a shiny Swablu. I already have a shiny 'chomp anyway, but, extra stuff doesn't hurt.

Looking forward to this one. I don't have a Garchomp yet, and I'm still a few Dragons away from my gold medal.

Well, how’d everyone do? Three Garchomps (one shiny—I like Gabite’s shiny coloring better, but I held on to a couple other shiny Gibles), and of course I got my medal. I splurged on the two-for-one storage upgrade so I could catch them all and sort out which to transfer later.

Edit: I guess it’s not over yet for the rest of the US and points west, though.
