The way Elsa and Garfiel violently rip into each other while biting reminded me of Watership Down's rabbit battles. Wonder if Nagatsuki's a fan.

Subaru tries to trigger a dust explosion without really knowing how to do so. Knowledge of the modern world, indeed.
Elsa vs Garfiel had some smooth, smooth animation. Did we know Elsa was a vampire? In any case, good luck to her trying to recover from being a bloody puddle. Garfiel was just kickass the entire time. He tore off the monster hippo’s head like he was a giant bottle opener.
Most satisfying moment of the episode however was Ram breaking Roswaal. Bye grimoire. If she died from the retaliatory fireball, I’d still say it was worth it.

My oh my, that was a rush! I breathed a sigh of relief when it ended. It was like being in a rollercoaster ride.

Yeah, that was one heck of an episode. Finally, 48 episodes in, I feel like I understand why Ram cares about Roswaal to the point of going this far for him.
It's been fun.
another amazing episode from Re:Zero:
the Garfiel and Elsa fight was amazing and brutal, especially the way he crocodile rolled the hippo to death. Ram had an amazing scene mirroring Rem's confession to Subaru and the destruction of her village, this pisses Roswaal off so much because it goes against his beliefs that people don't change. meanwhile, Subaru, Otto and Petra is struggling with one Mabeast that they eventually manages to take down.
meanwhile, Emilia is doing the third trial and we get to see potential futures. Echidnut mentioned that the third trial actually shows the future, the only thing Emilia wasn't sure of was wether or not the other visions she saw were connected to the first vision or were different potential futures
we also got some nice comedy in this episode, like Garfiel boasting about Subaru defeating the Mabeasts and Subaru running away in fear, Puck teasing his Beast of the End form only to turn out he just made himself bigger

I really did love seeing Roswaal actually getting shaken by Ram's actions. Assuming he didn't kill her, this could be what they need to finally get him to stand down.

I also like how Roswal started getting pissed when Puck brought up Beatrice which shows that he does still care for her after all this time.

Well, I mean, not quite. Roswaal doesn't treat as the gospel as what will happen, he treats it as what should happen. He believes that if he ensures that everything's written in the gospel comes true, that will lead to him accomplishing whatever his overall goal is.
The important distinction here is that he does not think that the future written in the gospel is inevitable- if he did, he wouldn't be working so hard to keep things on those rails- just that that future is desirable.
Beatrice, then, is probably just a sacrifice he's willing to make in his mind. There's still a part of him that cares about her. But he's not going to let that part of himself override the part that's willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish his goal.
Roswaal's entire thing is stripping himself down to the point where any sacrifice is acceptable if it allows him to see Echidna again, which is why he thinks Subaru is pitiable for using Return By Death to save people who aren't Emilia. I'm sure he does care about the oni sisters and Beatrice, but when push comes to shove, he's willing to kill them to fulfill his goals if he has to. Absolutely nothing even comes close to balancing out the scales when weighed against the chance to bring Echidna back.
The question is, what will he do now that Ram's managed to free him? He won't turn against Emilia, since her becoming Queen is still the big general arc of his plot, but maybe he'll loosen up a bit with the ability to obsess over small details forcibly taken from him.

Remember his promise with Ram? He basically has no choice but to submit now that he's lost everything he's built up, and Subaru managed to basically push everyone to overcome his manipulations.
Roswall wanted to keep everyone weak, but both Garfied and Emilia managed to overcome their hardships and change for the better and even Subaru, effectively proving Roswall's beliefs wrong. The biggest blow to his ego being Ram is in love with him and doesn't hate him at all for destroying her village and enslaving her.

i don't think there's much i can say about this weeks episode, because it is too much to say and my brain hasn't fully comprehended it yet
but i will say, this episode was absolutely perfect in every single way 10/10

Subaru made his dramatic entrance at the Sanctuary via pink mahou shoujo laser beam. Bless him. He got Beatrice to go with him, not because he was “that person”, but because he’s Natsuki freaking Subaru. “Isn’t that why you’ve been sitting in front of the door all this time?” Curious to see how they’ll fend off the rabbit legion.
Did Ryuzu channel Echidna for a moment there?

Today's big moment with "Choose me" was the scene I personally wanted to see animated the most since I read about the WN and they did it amazingly. Beako is my favorite girl in Re Zero and her relationship with Subaru is wholesome. What Subaru does for her is how you inspire a depressed and lonely immortal to enjoy life with you even for a few years. Hearing Beako say Subaru over and over was so heartwarming. Now next week is time to see them sending those bloodthristy rabbits to oblivion.

so there are some claims that i have heard that i would like to know the source of:
- Arc 11 is going to be three times as long as Arc 3
- there are going to be 12 arcs because Tappei found out the story wouldn't fit into 11 arcs
Just caught up since the season is almost over. First show in a while where I sat down to watch an episode or two before bed and ended up watching 6+.
Really enjoying myself, especially since Mushoku Tensei is the only other Isekai I've watched recently. So its nice and refreshing to have great worldbuilding without having to deal with similar issues to that series.
Felt a little odd to see Subaru on a such a victory streak. But I can't help but be a bit worried something is going to go wrong before the end.
Also they knew exactly what they were doing with smol Emilia sneaking around. Probably gave at least one viewer diabetes.
Looking forward to the next week.

that was the perfect conclusion of Subaru's character arc, he becomes accepted as Emilia's knight, saves Beako from loneliness and is confident at being himself around Emilia. man, Subaru's a great character

Mushoku Tensei is the biggest Rival for Re Zero. Hell, it was kicking Re Zero's ass on Narou during its whole run, and is still read more then it to this day.
S2E25: It’s cathartic how Beatrice turns those bunnies against each other. Screw that thing. Beatrice was way more powerful than I expected. I’m also amazed Subaru managed to evade all those bunnies. And it seems like he can get some of Beatrice’s mana when he’s holding her?
It’s even more cathartic seeing Garfiel, Petra and Otto give Roswaal a solid hit to the face. He should be thankful Emilia is a pure and lovely being. No doubt he’s a formidable ally, though.
Why am I not surprised Emilia is one of those doofuses who think babies come from kissing? A bit more justified in her case, though.
I felt proud of our boy Subaru legitimately becoming Emilia’s knight, especially considering the fiasco back in season 1. He’s really grown and deserves to become a protector. May he protect Emilia’s adorable smile for the days to come.
Emilia’s smile in that queenly getup might be adorable but she has nothing on the sheer cuteness of Beatrice and Petra dancing.
And come on, give poor Garfiel a drink, he deserves to get smashed.
