First Party remasters usually get the "HD" added to the title and there's not one here.
Compare the SMRPG remake to the Luigi's Mansion 2 remaster.
At the very least, I consider it a remake because of the artstyle change, even if there's very few gameplay changes.

Thousand Year Door was probably one of the first games I ever really committed to, in large part to its charm and humor. It is a core part of who I am and I am so happy to have it back. This news simply means the world to me.

On a serious note, it makes me wonder if they're doing it as a test to see how many people are interested in the old Paper Mario style, as opposed to games like Sticker Star and Origami King.

I hope this ends up being the kick in the pants that removes the stick up Nintendo's ass about Paper Mario and actually lets the series be creative and fun again.
I also wouldn't be opposed to a Super Paper Mario remake at some point, it does have, IMO, the single greatest story narrative in a Mario game.

I think it would be a good direction to go back to the drawing board with Thousand Year Door. I've felt Paper Mario has felt aimless in what it wants to be for awhile, and I'm sure many people feel similar.

To think we'd get both this and a remake of the original Super Mario RPG so close to each other. It's nuts.
Never played this one. I was playing the first Paper Mario on my Wii U, but when the gamepad on said Wii U broke, that put a quick end to that.
I definitely recommend playing The Thousand-Year Door if you get the chance. It's a really fun game, and probably my favorite Paper Mario game (though since I only played three games, that probably doesn't mean much).

Yeah, I'd def recommend Thousand Year Door as well. There's just SO much creativity on display.

I'm not expecting the Switch version of The Thousand-Year Door to have that many changes right now (I go into these things without much expectations), but I'd definitely welcome any quality of life changes or extra stuff added.

Update: For some reason, I honestly don't see Bleck agreeing with Dimentio that "it's kill or be killed" despite absolutely wanting to destroy reality and his history with his tribe and his father.
