I do not have the dlc yet so none in my case but it seems odachis are exclusive to the dlc's region

@Soble: That's the one problem with this game. It dose a terrible job of explaining certain aspects. Including exactly what the hell is going on, and expects you to already have some knowledge of Japaneses history to piece some things together.

Damn that Kanbei and the Overlord sub mission. More frustrating than the bosses. I even had an easier time with Hino-enma. Also, it seems the Kappa sub mission may be a good farming spot

Picked this up recently but haven't fired it up. I am familiar in general with souls games but is there anything I should know going into this one?

You can both block and dodge, and there's also a lot of tools. It's pretty Souls-like but the world isn't seamless and you also have super moves that you can do by triggering your amrita spirit.

To add, stamina is very important. Losing all of it leaves you vulnerable but you regain some lost stamina with a ki pulse, an important mechanic

Nioh also has more RPG elements than soulsborne with weapon forging, material farming, skills customization and a quest/mission system

There's so no damaging magic. Most of it's buffs of various descriptions.

So far so good. I have settled on the Sword and Spear as my preferred setup. Got into the burning village proper and not a big fan of the claustrophobic spaces bit interesting enough.

Well got through the second boss with some help. Used one of the cups to summon some help to fight with the boss. The enemies before that 2nd boss room were not too bad and now I am rather used to fighting the various Oni. Found the wall monster which scared the shit out of me when I first spotted it.

Wall monsters definitely are a What the hell thing at first, but then you get used to them.

I was carefully edging around to not get ambushed and suddenly saw eyes right in front of me. Was quite the startling revelation and I reflexively attacked it.

By the by, the Defiant DLC is gonna be dropping soon, if it hasn't already. They added Tonfas as a new weapon cass:

Hilariously enough, given the first post of this thread references Onimusha Dawn of Dreams. Hideyori, the other name for Hideyasu Yuki, the main hero of that game, is gonna be the main villain of the third and final DLC pack.

Well, would you look at that. The game is actually coming to PC, and even in as little as a mere month .

Too bad it's Kecmo port...can't wait to see how they'll screw up. Seriously, can you not screw up just once?

Um, Yuki Hideyasu is a different person with Toyotomi Hideyori. The former is a son of Tokugawa Ieyasu that got sent as an adoptive son for Hideyoshi.

The Samurai Warriors 4-2 port was surprisingly decenT.

I'm not expecting much at all regarding options, but I have more hope than I would have if I just bought the PC version of DW 8.

Well, I wonder what will be next for Nioh. Nioh 2: Shimabara Boogaloo with William's son or something? Can't wait.

Maria is still out there, so I'm sure the sequel will be based around finally defeating her for good.

The Shimabara Uprising can't be that long to warrant another game.

Say, despite Mitsunari being in the vanilla, they didn't touch on that one time he attempted to take Hosokawa Gracia hostage and then she told her servant to kill her, then Mitsunari lost popularity. Hmmm...

The Uprising in itself wasn't that long, but the circumstances surrounding the time could have plenty of material. Ieyasu's enlightened if highly pragmatic rule, contrasted with Iemitsu's iron grip in the attempt to emulate his grandfather.

So, port report: It works, and runs reasonably well. That's about the best that can be said about it. No mouse support whatsoever, very much useless keyboard controls that cannot be customised, limited and somewhat obtuse graphics options that need a separate loader. Overall maybe one step ahead of Bamco's messy Dark Souls PC port, though the weird kb+m then arguably puts it two steps behind.

Nioh 2 announced:
