Axes were my favorite weapon in the first game, though I grew to appreciate swords thanks to some of the later upgrades.
The Switchglaive from the second games is my favorite new weapon so far, and I can't wait for the new weapon that supposed to appear in DLC 1.
Watch SymphogearAh, the switchglaive, for when you don't have enough Bloodborne in your fantasy Japan.
Avatar SourceI like how absurd the speed is and the quick stance system.
Watch SymphogearI'm still incredibly grateful for 2 for introducing the Hatchets, allowing me to triple-wield axes.
Actually some of the Yokai abilities also use an axe so I essentially quadruple-wielded them.
Nioh 2 is a good game.
Bleye knows Sabers.I just liked switching into a scythe occasionally.
Avatar SourceI never really deviated from spear and sword, myself, though I was branching out a bit more by the time I hit endgame.
It's been fun.My solution is always to play the game again.
Avatar SourceHow many relationships does Hide have that the villain didn't screw up? I'm thinking one. Directly or indirectly he manages to get our entire family killed, get our lord killed, drive our probably-closest friend off the deep end, and cause our other major ally to that point to go bonkers. Mitsuhide is more a professional acquaintance, so literally only Mumyo got out of it without dying or going mad.
Avatar SourceYou could also mention William, but there's no indication that Hide understands even a single word of English, so.
It's been fun. Also, Hide doesn't actually have any relationship with William. They know William very briefly.
Disgusted, but not surprisedOn that part, we seem to be able to communicate well enough with Yasuke. Or at least listen to Yasuke. I'm still not convinced that Hide is actually able to speak due to the exactly one non-gameplay related dialogue menu in the game happening when you're technically dead and with your mother.
"Who are you?" always getting "look at this stylised symbol on my dagger!" isn't a great introduction. And Tokichiro did enough talking for the both of us.

Avatar SourceAs much as there is evidence against it the idea that Hide doesn't actually know a word of English and just goes with the flow and people go "Oh wow you're right it's time for action!" Is hilarious to me.
Bleye knows Sabers. My assumption was just that they were like "yes, this guy also fights yokai and he appears to be having trouble".
It's been fun.I like the idea of Hide not speaking because they find all of the people they meet really friggin' weird. Mumyo's probably the most normal person they meet in the game, and Mumyo tried to kill them in their first meeting.

Disgusted, but not surprisedHide's half youkai and was just living in a hut in the middle of nowhere after getting shanked by a strange staff weirdo as a child. I don't think they're in a position to call anybody else weird, particularly given that we've been going along with Tokichiro for decades.
Avatar SourceWell, twitter has revealed the dlc weapon. its a 3 section staff from the looks of it. I'd link it but I'm posting from mobile and linking anything from moble Twitter is hard.
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2Its basically the Lunar Staff from Ninja Gaiden 2

Watch SymphogearGoing and playing Nioh after Nioh 2,two things really stand out: one, they really improved the scenery. Two, William just feels a lot weaker. Part of it is the way youkai mechanics were changed, part of it is in gameplay things like not even starting with grapples on each weapon. Youkai abilities too made a huge difference.
Thirdly, his excuse for going along with this plot somehow feels even flimsier. Like, sure Hide just went along with Tokichiro because. But that's just it: Hide doesn't have a goal and seems happy to kill youkai and let Tokichiro do the planning and talking. William does have a goal but instead he's being an errand boy. Kelley being randomly in the inexplicable Terracotta Army knockoff dungeon is just stretching the bounds of coincidence.
Avatar SourceWilliam plays errand boy in part because he needs the locals' help. He's in literally foreign territory.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThis is only loosely related to Ni-Oh, but people keep mentioning higanbana in Ghost of Tsushima and I keep thinking "oh shit, Jin, time to fight things much worse than bandits".
It's been fun.One of Jins Ultimate moves, the Dance of Wrath is basically the same as as one of the higher levels moves for Dual swords in this game, funny enough.
Watch SymphogearYeah, it just feels entirely too passive. Like sure, I know how this is going to pan out—the stuff in Japan is going to be fundamentally linked to our goal. It just feels so far like he's... doing these things without any reward?
Also, Hide definitely got the better end of the deal on onmyo teachers. Arguably swordsmanship as well.
Avatar SourceWilliam's "reward" is making nice with the locals so that they don't consider him a threat and try to kill him. He has enough enemies as it is.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI'm not saying it's not justified or beneficial, only that it feels weird for the guy who went out of his way to cross the entire globe reaches Japan and becomes... well, reactive. It feels like he's stopped pushing for anything.
Though, I only just got past the first region and the weird... centipede boss.
I think enemy visual design is also favouring the sequel.

The axe is one of the best early game weapons IMO. Unlike some other weapons it's not super reliant on the more advanced skills so it doesn't take as much time to get good. Rips humans apart too. It is slow though.
