Recently, I watched some episodes ofAvengers Assemble seasons one and two on Netflix and I couldn't help but notice Thor's portrayal. in this show and other Marvel Animated projects. Thor comes across as....well as an idiot almost always negatively portrayed.

Ultimate Avengers - In the final fight against the Hulk every character puts up a good fight...except Thor who is koed early on by his own hammer of all things.

Western/Next Avengers Heroesof Tomorrow - Nearly Every other Avenger died valiantly fighting Ultron. Hulk redeemds himself by finishing off Ultron. Thor is a deadbeat father who betrayed his friends and Earth and abandoned his own infant daughter on Earth to learn "humility" all with the flimsey reason he was busy ruling Asgard.

Hulk Vs. - The Wolverine segment portrayed Wolverine in-character and had him put up an even fight with the Hulk with the battle resulting in a draw despite Wolverine being drastically outpowered. The Thor segment had an out-of-character battle weary Thor get steamrolled by the Hulk in a one-sided battle. By the end the episode felt like the writers were only taking up time. Apparently, Thor was supposed to learn from Banner some lesson in humility or "sucking it up" or something going by the commentary track.

Thor: Tales of Asgard - Thor once again has to learn a lesson in "humility" (can't writers think of anything else?) and his own world butchered by Valkyries becoming man-hating Amazons, the Warriors Three being glory-stealing blowhards, and Thor being an idiot.

Avengers Assemble - In the first season Thor is a brash idiot that makes the Hulk look mature and he constantly getting beat up by everyone. Even the episodes that spotlight him he either loses the fights he is in, has to "learn" something from mortals instead of showing why he is impressive. Season 2 has mostly followed suit with Thor either getting beat up or being an idiot. In this show and the two others set in the same universe Asgardians come off as either caricatures or idiots.

The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes - I admit this series tended to avert the trend except for Thor getting beat up a lot in the first season to show case the new threats.

I admit no one hero can be too dominate. Every character has their ups and downs. Yet while other characters, usually in their spotlight episodes, are showcased on WHY they are considered great heroes that balance out any negative portrayals this does not appear to be the case with Thor. He has a disproportionate amount of negative with few postives. It is almost as if the writers either do not get him or have something against the character.

Am I seeing something that is not there or does Thor come across as looking worse than any other?

This is basically a complaint thread. If you would like to discuss Thor's portrayal in the MCU, we have existing threads for it.
