Lewis - Library - Any ideas?

I shook my head. "Sadly no."

"But seriously, anything?"

I looked at Ben, who evidently didn't want him sealed again, and simply shrugged, having nothing to say to that, before Eve leaned in suggesting we try and troll the fucker.

"Like, I guess? I'm not used to actively antagonizing people but I could, if you think we have to. What about after that? We'll have to come up with something after the night's over. I don't want him like, sending death threats to Ben's family or something."

Though, just to get the ball rolling already, I made an effort to irritate the spectral alien, using the most infuriating conversation starter of the day.

"You know," I cooed with a hint of mocking, "I bet you must hate having not won today's competition. One wish, almost anything you can imagine, and you don't get it. No, instead some dude you've never met and couldn't possibly give a rat's rear end about gets to go home to a setting full of life and love instead of a cold, empty void, and you're sitting here being grounded by the librarian like a 5-year-old having a tantrum. What a shame. You could probably embalm someone with that much salt. You think the writer would let me take some of it home? My corpse is starting to smell. You'd hate the odor, trust me."

The library

Ghostfreak's singular eye narrowed and he turned visible again. "You take me for a fool? It is obvious that you are trying to provoke me," he simply stated. "If you must know, I care not for this contest or sports in general. I have no interest in nor time for such ridiculous diversions. Even if I were to win, wishing for what I want would take away the satisfaction of performing the task myself. I am not so easily tricked, revenant," he bluntly continued.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

Eve|Library|I'm Listening To Electro Swing Right Now, And The Cross Genre Is Making My Head Spin

Lewis said he'd try, which was good. The point he raised with Ghostfreak and the messages was good, but she couldn't see away around it, except maybe trying to get him stuck in that bubble for the entirety of tomorrow, which probably wasn't possible. She wasn't quite sure how to deliberately infuriate someone, but Lewis clearly did and he proceeded to mouth off quite incredibly. And near the end it got...concerning.

"Are you okay, Lewis?"

Then Ghostfreak responded.

"Perhaps if you had, you would've been able to get away from the hunchback. The one that was moving approximately a metre a minute. And that killed you. With scissors."

Even if it didn't work, making fun of the homicidal alien ghost was fun.

Lewis - Library - What made you think I was emotionally stable?

God damnit. That one didn't work. Oh well, I'd tried.

And subsequently realized that I'd been a bit loose with my words, given Eve expressed concern when I was done.

I spared a glance at her, feeling a flicker of...something...just barely emerge in my expression, but didn't say anything for lack of a proper answer.

She went back to aggravating Ghostblob, rubbing in a certain stupid death he apparently had yesterday.

"That actually happened? Wow. That's dumber than I thought. Couldn't you have at least died to something actually threatening, like the tall guy that teleports straight to you if you look at it for long enough, or the thing at that Ferris wheel with the acid blood? You know, something actually deadly. Wait, no, I survived both of those. That really makes the scissor guy sound pathetic, don't you think?"

Eve|Library|Guffaw At The Ghostfreak

Some brief expression passed over Lewis' face. Whatever it was, he clearly didn't want to talk about it. She understood the feeling. So she didn't press the topic. They had more important things to do. Like aggravating the homicidal ghost.

"Yes, yes it did. I walked away from the guy and got away fine. I wonder what that says about your intelligence."

Maybe what she was doing was suicidal. But she was a target anyway, because Ben...

...Let's not think about that now. But if she was a target, what did she have to lose? And the angrier she got Ghostfreak, the less he'd focus on Ben. And Ben didn't need to be targeted even more than he already was. You can't fight someone you're terrified of. She knew that all too well. So, time to make Ghostfreak less scary.

The Bucket O' Sushi

Silanea paused in her eating and was silent for a moment, then looked at Fate and Arf. "This, 'Caro' was the one to defeat you? And you hate her for it?" Silanea asked quietly.

Whatever their response, Silanea then went silent to listen to the ongoing radio broadcast...

Hospital

"We have these gowns you can wear temporarily until your clothes are clean. Now come on, I'm a doctor and I'm trying to help you" Dave said, just a little bit of irritation seeping into his voice as they got off the elevator and headed down a couple hallways to a shower room. "Get in there, take off your clothes, turn on the faucet, and scrub yourself down" the troll instructed him, pointing his arm at the open doorway.

Library, now with reality warper dope slaps

Miss Tairee had been typing on her computer, and suddenly Zs'Skayr and his bubble both blurred and vanished, reappearing at the same time at the far side of the lobby. "AHEM. Attempting to provoke on one of the other patrons goes both ways. Show some maturity or I will start to dole out additional punishments" Miss Tairee warned people out loud, mainly Eve and Lewis.

Louie, having been watching the situation from the sidelines, turned to where Zs'Skayr now was and stuck his tongue out towards the ghostly alien. There was a few taps on the keyboard, and suddenly there was a slapping noise from Louie, and he flinched as if hit in the back of the head, letting out a reflexive, "ow!"

"You were warned" Miss Tairee stated simply.

Stadium

"Well, I guess that's it. The little boy wins" Jeff's voice said, still sounding not particularly enthusiastic. Parts of the crowd cheered, especially the Fanboys, but overall the crowd didn't seem very interested in the race's outcome either.

"Aw come on Jeff. The race might not have been very exciting, but now's the real excitement! Now we get to wonder... What will the boy's wish be?" Adam's voice pointed out, sounding sincerely enthusiastic.

"... Hey, yeah you're right! Oh boy, now I'm feeling curious and pumped for this" Jeff's voice agreed, now also starting to get enthusiastic. "This is like some good reality television!" his voice added.

As Caro had suspected, Miss Tairee simply made herself warp over to the two of them with a quick pair of blurs, and as the announcers talked she tapped a few more keys on the holographic screen. With a blur, a microphone appeared in her hand, and she held it down to Lucas. "Congratulations on the victory, contestant" Miss Tairee said, her voice coming across both the loud speakers and the news channel. "Now, what will your wish be?" she asked, and held out the microphone towards Lucas, which would likewise transmit his voice over the loudspeakers and news channel.

Cole winced a little, apparently aware enough of a tone coming to Dave's voice, but tried to do as he was being told, creeping into the shower room, looking around before finding a spot a little bit away to set down his hat and bunny carefully, almost reverently, making sure they were in a relatively safe spot. Then he wandered over to look at the nearest set of shower controls. They...were rather like what he'd found in the shower box in the hotel where he, Caro, and Sans had stayed before, so...he...thought he could figure that out...

Oh wait, he was supposed to take his clothes off. Actually hadn't Caro said something similar about his needing to take off his clothes if he were going to shower? Right, right, okay, that he could do.

He moved back to where he'd left the rabbit and his hat, and carefully stepped out of his shoes, setting them down neatly, and then rather unceremoniously pulled off his shirt, leathers, and a rather torn undershirt. He seemed to debate for a moment before carefully unwinding the ratty, filthy bandages wrapped around his hands as well, apparently deciding that Dave probably felt that they were "clothes" as well. He had put them on to keep his hands warm anyway, so, yes. Clothing.

A few awkward swats at a nearby shower handle later, there was water flowing, tepid, nearly warm, with Cole standing under it, a rather bemused expression on his face as he just let the water pour over him. The rare occasions Dorian or the Inquisitor shoved him under a waterfall or into a hot spring, they hadn't mentioned "scrubbing." Usually it was just Dorian pouring some perfumed tonic over his head and dunking him under until the mage was satisfied to let him out.

He made the best effort he could at it anyway, rubbing at his hair and trying to wash himself off under the heavy spray, hoping that when he was done and wandered away from the water, that he had done what he was supposed to be doing.

Lewis - Library - It's About Time!

Before I could get in another word edgewise, the librarian admonished us for trying to rile up Ghostfuck and teleported him to the other side of the room. Amusingly, a certain green-haired trainer didn't get the memo and got slapped upside the head for his troubles. Pfft. I tried and failed to suppress a giggle.

"What will the boy's wish be?"

I realized the radios in this building were still blaring, and from the sound of it Lucas had been the one to win his and Caro's challenge. Eager to see it, and no longer preoccupied, I got up and ran to one of the doors, hoping to get a better view of one of the monitors.

"Oh, guys! Lucas is about to make that wish! Hold on, I gotta see this."

Making it outside, and subsequently leaning by the wall next to the door I'd left through, I noticed Sans looking up at the screen above, though I didn't say anything due to my attention being on the screen in question.

Bucket O' Sushi ~ Enough Salt to Flavor this Fish

"Not just that," Arf started, "First off, she joined the contest solely so we wouldn't win. Then she just told us our wish would have disastrous consequences without bothering to tell us what they were." The next couple words almost came out as a growl. "And most importantly, she made Fate hurt over it." She shook her head. "Losing to her was just one final slap to the face on top of all this."

"Actually, she didn't want to challenge us," Fate added, considerably more calmly, "I challenged her, because I didn't know who was right and opted to let the contest decide. She won, and that was that." She motioned to the book she was reading. "She also suggested I read this if I wanted answers, so it's not like she left us completely in the dark."

"She still could have told us directly and saved us a lot of trouble. Instead she decides to be vague about it."

At that point, the race ended, with the winner being a "little boy." It wasn't the most specific of descriptions, but it was confirmation enough that it wasn't Caro. At that point Fate and Arf opted to remain silent to hear what this boy planned on wishing for, although Arf seemed to still be less than happy.

Eve|Library|Out Of Puns

Eve seemed not at all saddened by the warning given by the Librarian, watching with quiet amusement. Once Ghostfreak was moved, she breathed a small sigh of relief. Now she could talk about plans to get rid of him.

She was briefly distracted from her thoughts by the announcement of Lucas winning the wish. She trusted Lucas to wish well, or at least, not malevolently. He was a nice person, and healers by power were often healers by nature. Happy that that was being handled, she turned her thoughts back to the issue at hand.

"Ben. You don't want Ghostfreak in the watch, do you?"

Picking up the smartphone, Lo Wang gave it a quick once over to get the hang of it and set the radio on, then gave Tairee a faint nod and stepped away from the counter. With a brief glance at his partner, who was currently attempting to juggle knives and doing an alright job of it, the hitman started to make his way towards one of the exits. There wasn't any further reason to stick around, after all. "Hoji, we're going."

They'd almost made it to a door, when one of the girls from before stood up and started almost shouting at the other. Cocking his head, Wang turned his head as he moved to watch curiously. As it progressed, he started to slow, thinking. So they'd just been hanging around the kid for protection? He didn't see how that worked, he was pretty scrawny looking, and it was safe to assume they'd originally approached him for the same reason. But, here was one talking about following him to prison of all places, to be safe. Whatever was scaring them, must have been serious. And he was curious.

He changed direction, moving towards the two women again. He heard Hoji sigh, but ignored it. "Hey. Call me curious, but what's got you so scared you're talking about asking to be sent to prison? You piss off some big player in this place or something?"

Outside the Library - is this for real?

Sans watched the last game play out. He was rooting for Caro as it was to be expected, so he got a little disappointed that she ended up losing. It was a weird feeling, to be disappointed even though the person who won is also trying to help him out. Well, said disappointment didn't last for too long.

He noticed Lewis coming out to look at the screens too, he probably wanted to see how it would end too.

"y'know, when you told me you were gonna use the wish on me, i didn't really think it was going to go anywhere and that there was no real point in getting my hopes up for something like that," he said, not even looking directly at Lewis as he spoke "honestly i still don't get why you would go through all that for someone you barely know and, hell, i thought you hated me."

He then turned to face Lewis and offered him a handshake.

"thanks dude, for going out of your way to spend the wish on someone like me."

Lewis - Outside the Library - Yes, it is, and also yourewelcome.png

I didn't take my eyes off the monitor, eyeing the giant image of Lucas with the microphone supplied to him by the librarian. Thinking about it, he looked vaguely familiar, sorta like Ness from Earthbound. Maybe he was in Smash or something.

For a moment, I recalled an incomplete image of wrestling with the controls trying to not let Arthur kick my ass, but brushed it aside just as quickly.

"There was a whole world's population at stake. And, honestly I didn't do that much. I kept getting distracted by crying people. I had one serious match, with Lucas, and I blew that, heh...Actually, I sorta put him up to it when that was over and he started crying because his own place had had a close brush with that just before he got here and he'd lost some people who he said wouldn't want him screwing you over just so he could have them back and I realized and wanted to cheer him up to make up for it but then he got zapped away for the challenge. I feel kinda bad, putting him on the spot like that, but at least a hell of a lot of people get to live out their lives rather than having them cut short. They have a right to that.

"And really, it's not like I didn't want to be bitter about you dragging me back here with the bird still in there and me at the end of my rope from having just been killed by it, but I couldn't find the words to justify that. Maybe I would have, if I'd had the time or energy, but that wasn't how things played out and I don't really feel like trying anyway. Even if I did, again, the stakes were much bigger than two people being salty at each other."

My mind wandered to Ben and how I'd ranted at him over text for not grasping that last part. He sure had calmed down since then, enough that we (and Eve) could make fun of a malevolent alien together without it being awkward. Maybe it'd simply been a bad idea to shove that on him right on the heels of the situation with Eve and Cole, whatever the hell his baggage with Sans was.note  I guess he'd redirected that salt toward the writer in the end, considering his little announcement, and maybe it was better he be mad at what might as well be an invisible force rather than a person. Maybe.

"There's...one thing I would have wished for if I hadn't known, if Cole had kept quiet about the whole thing, but...funny enough, how things work out...don't go telling this to just anyone for now, since the city nearly had a riot over it a few minutes ago, but I owe it to...Rex, was it?...for the whole 'sending messages home' thing, even if the downsides are probably going to be a massive headache later. Because, all I really wanted was to see a certain person again, and I can just arrange that by what's essentially mail come tomorrow. It's more than I could ask for."

Unconsciously, I started fiddling with the locket with one hand, and upon realizing held it in front of me (high enough that I doubt Sans could get a good look, though not intentionally so) and looked down at it. I opened it, tentatively, note  staring at Vivi's smiling face, then looked back up at the screen and closed it again, setting it back in its spot.

I realized I hadn't made eye contact with Sans this whole time, and, feeling it rude, turned to face him. He was offering a handshake, and I remembered I'd left him hanging for nearly 48 hours now. Even more rude, if completely understandable as far as I was concerned. I took it, slowly.

"...No problem."

Wells pointed out that for all his abilities, Rex hadn't beaten the challenges alone. The teen still had a hard time seeing his point.

"We've won every challenge so far, right? Well, except for that space day thing but I blame the bird. And we got rid of him so..." he said, entering the prison.

Hospital

"You done in here?" Dave asked as he walked in with a hospital gown in hand, then looked at Cole for brief inspection. "Hmm, better than I thought you'd do on your own" the troll muttered to himself and handed the gown over, adding aloud, "well, good enough. Put this on; your stuff will be washed sometime tonight or tomorrow morning... Probably."

Library

The two Annas glanced at Lo Wang, and Anna-Maria folded her arms. "It's not any of your business" Anna-Maria muttered to him.

"We were in a gang- a cult, actually" Anna-Rose said.

"Rose?!" Anna-Maria said to her, sounding surprised and a little annoyed.

"We're coming clean, remember?" Anna-Rose responded to her, then looked back at Lo Wang. "It was called Ruckus. We thought it was just a gang to have some fun messing with people and protecting ourselves by grouping together. It was actually being run by some big demon guy who was manipulating us, and he did a lot of evil stuff before he got taken out" she explained to him.

"We never hurt anyone ourselves, but people around town just remember that we were in Ruckus and lump us with all the killers and psychos that rolled with the demon" Anna-Maria added in, consenting to Rose's point about coming clean but not sounding happy about it. "Even the militia tried to throw us in jail already, and we've been trying to avoid that" she continued, glancing at Anna-Rose. Anna-Rose glanced back at her, but made no response just yet.

Prison

"Yes, Rex, we have" Wells said, turning to Rex as they entered a prisoner processing area and glaring slightly at the Evo. "Just who did you tell about it before agreeing to this extra challenge with the librarian's boss? Just your little circle of other super powered friends? How many people got to weigh in on the decision that potentially put the whole city in danger?!" the soldier ranted at him, raising his voice a bit towards the end.

"And why did you of all people get..." Wells trailed off, pausing for a moment as he thought of something, then shook his head and turned away from Rex. He let out a sort of grunt of frustration, then punched the wall. "That damn bastard's playing us like a drum" the soldier muttered as he turned to look at Rex again, still scowling but not at Rex specifically this time, just in general; he then added, "you idiot, Rex. You're a damn scapegoat."

Ben couldn't help but snicker to himself slightly as Lewis and Eve taunted Ghostfreak. Ghostfreak, by this point, had begun to ignore them, by which point he had been teleported away by Miss Tairee. Ben stifled his laughter more, wincing when Louie was slapped in the back of the head. Then Eve asked him a question, making him raise his eyebrow.

"Yeah, I want him out of the watch, and I don't want him to go back. If only there was a way we could trap him somewhere else. I'd say the prison but he can go through walls so I doubt he'd stay in there for very long...." Ben muttered. He smiled at her. "Were you trying to get him mad at you so he wouldn't try to hurt me? Cole looked at the gown that Dave was handing to him, looking...rather more hesitant about it before carefully reaching out to take it, looking deeply unnerved. After a second though, he took a deep breath, and, more by accident than anything, managed to get the gown pulled on correctly, struggling a bit with getting it over his head, but without any serious troubles.

He was still rather quick to scurry over and grab up his hat and the bunny, but whatever dark thought had just entered his mind, it didn't seem he was going to give voice to it. He did look a little thoughtful over something else in the pile of dirty clothing, though.

"Do...d-do you...do you want me to leave my weapons, too? There's...there are...t-two daggers and a knife...I...I d-don't know if that's...s-something you'd want me to keep..."

Ben was right. If Ghostfreak could turn intangible, the prison couldn't hold him. That hadn't really been one of her plans though. Not one of the Four, anyway.

The Library
She was right. This is her library and I shouldn't have tried to fight anyone in it. She was obviously not taking sides between Light or Dark here and Sora had no right to drag this quiet, peaceful safe space into that. Ben's request just helped to further spur him on. Still though. Didn't matter if that thing wasn't a Heartless or a Nobody. He hadn't known of Nobodies at one point and he still fought against them with as much power as he could! Next time Sora meets Ghostfreak, Sora would fight that thing like it was a Darkness creature from his own home! For his new friends!

Sora looked at Miss Tairee and told her gently, "I'm sorry Miss Tairee. I didn't mean to fight in your library. Most people here are good, honest, well meaning individuals that I would never dream of fighting. I just saw Ghostfreak in front of Ben and I had to act. I couldn't let anyone be hurt. Yes, he is like nothing I have encountered in my adventures but he does have something in him that is all too familiar: Darkness. I had to act on that. Please, let me go from this bubble and I won't ruin the peace here ever again. This place is too nice for fighting."

Sora smiled at that. He wasn't lying about that. This Library reminded him of Twilight Town in a way. A common place that was unburdened by conflict. A area that was almost normal. After the apologies, Sora focused on Ben's and Eve's discussion about how to stop Ghostfreak. Sora told the two, "What you want is the good thing Ben. Even having Ghostfreak back in the watch is too much. One day he will just come back out. Darkness born creatures will always raise again. But I'm sure together, we can find a way to keep that jerk away from you Ben! Good will always find a way!"

"nah, i just realized it while you were fiddling with it. i could sense your soul inside of that thing, it's not quite the same as the souls of the humans back home, but that seems to be the standard for the humans around here," Sans explained, in a matter-of-fact kind of tone, "it's the first time i've seen anything like this though, granted, i've only met one human in my entire life before this."

Ciri: Balcony —> Electronics Store

Ciri blinked. She then fell over, because the chair she had been sitting on had vanished.

With a sigh, she stood up. She thought she had a better grasp of how to avoid accidentally transporting herself to another world. Apparently not. Still, all it would take is a little bit of focus, visualizing the tavern where she had been. She had just come into the establishment after completing a contract with Geralt, happy to get out of the cold and deal with her growling stomach. The barmaid was leaning in over the counter, and she was about to order a pint. Now that she was sure about where and when she wanted to be, it was just a matter of transporting herself there and...

Finding herself in a tiled room, a few feet away from an overweight man who was sitting in his bathtub, scrubbing his back with a loofa. After making awkward eye contact for a painful second as she realized this was definitely not where she wanted to go, she let out a brief "Pardon" before transporting herself away.

And once again finding herself in unfamiliar territory, she looked up at the sky. It didn't look like home, that was for certain. After few more attempts to get home, with equally uncomfortable results, she groaned. It looked like she was stuck here. It wasn't all bad, she supposed. Geralt could take care of himself, and this city resembled one she had been to before. Although it lacked flying metal carriages. Pity.

At the moment, she was in a building of some sort, and up ahead a little boy was peering through the window into the store. She blinked ahead to appear in front of the window, crouched down so that she could look the child in the eyes through the glass.
