Noting that most everyone else was beginning to move towards the building at the center of the city, Legion wrapped itself up in its own thoughts as the geth began moving towards it. It certainly wasn't quiet; its motors whizzed and whirred as it walked, efficiency at the cost of volume.

Undyne, still jogging, rolled her eye and turned her head to glare at Plague Knight. "Do I look like a human to you?" She grunted. Then something occurred to her and she blinked.

"Wait, are you even human? I can't tell with the stupid mask you're wearing." She grinned at him.

Alice looked at Gentaro with mild curiosity, "definitely" befriend all of them? That was a peculiar goal if nothing else, a very naive and unlikely goal to be accomplished, but from just the few sentences she heard from him she could already tell that man was shining with idealism.

"My name is Alice Margatroid. It's a pleasure to meet you, but you shouldn't make such a bold claim, friendships are harder to achieve than you might think." she said before turning back to the general direction of the building and starting to calmly walk towards it

Gentaro felt a faint breeze roll past him when his extension of friendship was either shut down or ignored. Oh well, looks like he'll just have to try harder with some of these folks! He grinned and straightened his jacket at the prospect of making new friends, and as he started to make for the tower after everyone else, he was greeted by Alice.

"Oh yeah, some people are harder to make friends with than others, but that's what makes making friends fun!" He called out to her, a smile plastered on his face. "If that's what you think, though," he repeated his gesture, beating his chest twice and pointing out at her, "I'll especially be friends with you!"

With that declaration made, he finally started making his way towards the building.

Towards the central building

For Rex, getting to the central building was straight forward; being able to fly and keep his eyes on it did that for him. For everyone else, it was actually oddly easier, though it was much less straight forward; as the layout of the streets kept forcing them to turn and put buildings between them and the central one, the next time they rounded a corner to see it again, they would see that they were at a different position relative to it. Sometimes they were closer, sometimes they were farther away.

But after a few minutes, they rounded a corner and had a direct shot towards it, letting them get to it since the city didn't shift while they were looking; as it so happened, they showed up at the same time Rex did.

The large, round, and relatively squat building looked maybe six or seven stories tall. At the ground floor, around the outside edge were ten fairly large sets of revolving doors, each almost ten feet tall. Ben's plan in particular of getting a peek inside without being seen had a problem; the doors, and the walls, were just glass. Tinted glass no less, which made getting a look in difficult, but for anyone inside looking out at the well lit outdoors, it was clear as day. Trying to get a look in anyway he would see... Tables, and chairs? It looked like some sort of seating area or lobby. There was also a glimpse of some sort of desk in the very center, but it was hard to make out anything else without going inside.

He also wasn't catching sight of any people in there yet, but there could easily be people in there without him noticing just through the revolving door.

Gon carefully observed as they were moving towards the city center. The Korean-American man looked at the direction they're going to give the area a good look.

He can't see much of the tower from the alley he's in. But it gives him an idea on what to do next.

The assassin sprinted across the street and used another fire escape staircase to get to the first rooftop that he can get his feet on.

"No, you do not look human, that much is obvious," Plague Knight said, managing to keep up with Undyne and speaking in between huffs. "But I do not think you are a fish. You are certainly some type of sapient bipedal aquatic creature that is a derivative of fish, but whether or not you are an actual fish person is the true conundrum! Most fish people I know have heads similar to their non-sapient counterparts, while your's is more structurally similar to a human's!

"Not that I'm judging," Palgue Knight added. "Horse, deer, and peacock people make up the largest minority populations in Pridemoor Valley. My curiosity is piqued is all. By the way, I am human myself."

After a while, the knight was starting to notice how the streets seem to change and shift every single time he did not look at it, seemingly the city's layout changing at the rate of him blinking. Most peculiar was how he managed to reach their destination at practically the same time as Rex, despite the boy having the advantage of flight. "This is rather odd....." he muttered, looking back at the city itself.

Ben frowned. There didn't seem to be a way for him to get in without being seen. Except for one way. Though he wasn't sure how the rest of them would get inside. Still, it'd be easy for him to slip in unnoticed and then go back out to report to the others. As sort of a guide. "Wait here. I'll scout ahead," he told the others.

He looked down at his watch. Good, it seemed to be off its cooldown. He grinned, turning the knob until the silhouette showed a vaguely formless entity. He then slammed his hand onto the display.

The green flash of light and speed of the transformation meant that most of the others couldn't see the sheer oddity of the next transformation— the only explanation would be that Ben sunk into himself. His eyes and nose sunk into his face, while most of his features vanished into a grey sheet-like form. Soon, the form had dark lines move onto it, and a single pink eye formed from one of the lines. Ben's arms, the only remnant of his human form, had become thin and gangly, while he floated there with a wispy tail. The best description of the resulting alien was "ghostly".

"Ghostfreak!" he hissed. Soon afterwards, Ghostfreak seemed to vanish. In actuality, he had turned invisible, then slipped through the glass walls of the building to start looking around.

As Gentaro made his intentions clear, Alice stopped for a brief moment and sighed before continue to walk

"Do as you please." she told Gentaro as she went, she knew this kind of person, no matter what she said he would not stop, just like how Marisa was. In some ways it was oddly comforting to have someone who acted similar to someone she knew, but at the same time, said someone was a constant nuisance that she never could seen to avoid.

Once she arrived at the building she saw Ben trying to peek inside through the glass, but it didn't look like it would be possible to see much from the outside. She then saw him play with the little device on his wrist until all of sudden he transformed into a ghostly creature, was that boy a youkai as well? That was certainly not something a normal human could do. Either way, this allowed him to sneak inside without having to use the door so she figured he would come back soon and tell the rest of them what was inside.

Inside the building

Going inside, Ghostfreak would see that it was, indeed, a sort of lobby area. The whole first floor, which was a high ten feet tall, was one big room that just held seats and sofas and tables. Near the edges were four slightly curved stairways that went up to the upper floors, each right near and elevator that presumably did the same. At the center of the floor Ghostfreak would see that there was no proper ceiling there; instead the floors above it had no floor in the center area, letting anyone up there look down over a railing into a lobby. Thanks to that view, he could see there was a total of five floors, each ten feet tall; he could also see book shelves lined with books past the railing on the second floor. If there were more on the above floors, he couldn't see them from his current angle.

In the center of the room was indeed a round desk; or rather four curved desks with little doors between them put together to make a rough circle. There was a lady behind the desk who looked to be a receptionist of some sort; she had red hair up in a bun, glasses, and Ghostfreak could see a blue, long sleeved shirt from this angle.

The only other person in the room was a man sitting at one of the sofas to the side. He looked somewhat distressed and kept glancing around nervously. He seemed to be dressed like a medieval peasant, and... It looked like he was partially splattered with blood.

Despite being totally invisible and intangible, when Ghostfreak had passed through the wall, there was a very soft chime, like that of a door sensor indicating someone entering. The receptionist lady looked up and around when it happened, looking confused for a moment before muttering a quick, "ah, right". She looked back down at what she was working on before, and Ghostfreak could hear typing, like on a keyboard.

Hyeesh! Cold. But that just set Gentaro on fire! This Alice person... That sounded like an English name. Maybe he should try and actually brush up on English. Never mind the fact that he's totally speaking it now to everyone...

Ahem.

Gentaro stuffed his hands in his pockets and walked alongside Alice as they reared up on the building. That Ben kid was snooping around the building, he figured to see if he could get a look on the inside. His name sounded English too... Oh god, how much English would he have to brush up on to really be friends with these guys?!

Focus, focus, Gentaro.

"Scout ahead?" he asked out loud, "What for? Let's just stroll inside and— WHOA-HO!!" The high schooler stumbled backwards and pointed right at the spot where Ben was. "GH-GH-GH-GHOST!!" He went wide-eyed and looked to the others for confirmation of what he'd seen, "Oy! My head's not playing tricks on me is it?! That kid just turned into a ghost!"

Traversing the streets with the group, Josuke made note of the peculiar changes in distance as they looped every corner. It made him feel uneasy....There was an urban legend of a place like this in Morioh...a seemingly unending street, with the world of the dead existing forever from behind. If you ever looked back, the spirits of the dead dragged you to that side.

The worst part of it was, he knew that wasn't an urban legend.

He shook it off. No use thinking of ghost stories, even if this was slowly turning into one. They had somehow found their way to the Central Building, in spite of it's previous distance. It'd be better to focus on that.

He saw Ben morph into another alien(seriously, how many could he turn into?), which was somehow able to pass through the glass of the building.

To Gentaro surprise, Josuke responded.

"Eh? You didn't catch that? They were rambling about it for a good couple of minutes...Kid can turn into aliens." He replied simply, before trying to get a better look in from outside. "Apparently that includes alien ghosts...Or ghost aliens?"

Ghostfreak's concentration was broken a bit by the bloody man on the couch, the soft chime that denoted his entry, and the scream he heard coming from outside. It wasn't enough to make him turn visible, thank goodness, but it did distract him for a bit. Normally, the sight of a man covered in blood would make him freeze in fright. He didn't usually see blood in his line of work. However, in the Ghostfreak form, he seemed... less concerned about it. He wasn't sure if this was a good thing.

Regardless, he had to be quick, before the Omnitrix turned him back. He floated upwards to try and examine the floors above him. It looked like a library to him so far, but he had to scout ahead in case there was anything dangerous on any of the floors, then quickly make it back downstairs and at the front door before he turned human again. However, Ghostfreak wasn't exactly the fastest flier— Stinkfly completely outclassed Ghostfreak on the speed department. Still, it was better than being seen now.

After all, if there was someone in here covered in blood, this place might be more dangerous than it appears.

Inside the building

Bookshelves, more bookshelves, more bookshelves; every floor above the first was just tons of book shelves, plus the staircases and elevators. It looked like it was empty save for the two people on the ground floor, but Ghostfreak didn't have the time to check around all the shelves on all four upper floors.

When he floated back down through the floors to leave, he would see that the receptionist lady had left the desk. She was standing right next to where he was coming down, and looking at him with glowing green eyes. "Is there something I can help you with?" the receptionist asked, clearly seeing Ghostfreak just fine despite his invisibility. Now that he was close to her, he could see that oddly her glasses actually contained no lenses. She was also wearing a short black skirt, dark stockings, and black high heels.

"I have to admit, compared with the ghosts in my world, his spectral form actually looks scary," Plague Knight responded to Josuke and Gentaro. "What I truly want to see the flaming golem form he spoke of! Truly interesting to find what sort of material could make up a sapient being of constant flame without killing itself through mere existence."

"Does it matter what my head looks like?" Said Undyne. "Yes, I'm a fish lady. Jeez, you're annoying. Are you sure you aren't a skeleton?"

As they came upon the building she slowed to a halt and looked up. She whistled. Big place. Then Ben turned into another monster - a ghost this time, like her weird neighbor with the snail farm - and phased through the walls.

"There's a door, you know." She grumbled, knowing full well he probably couldn't hear her anyway. "Screw it. I'm going in." Undyne walked through one of the doors, stumbling slightly as she came through, not used to revolving doors.

"...so it's just a big library." She noted, looking up at the bookshelves on the second floor. "Lame."

"Oh, okay, let's let the fucking... maniac who chucks bombs at nothing lecture us about scientific ethics. The-they were volunteers! I said I'd give 'em 60 bucks if they, if-if-if they survived the procedure! That's like, if you're a homeless person, that's like winning the fucking lottery! But oh *hic* oh no, let's listen to this smug little asshole, whose stupid universe probably, probably doesn't even know about quantum mechanics."

It was around that point that the whole group made a course for the center of the city. Rick rolled his eyes and motioned for his grandson to follow him. "Oh, oh boy, Morty," slurred Rick, fumbling for his laser pistol. "Buckle into your seatbelts, Morty, because Rick and, Rick and Morty are off... off on another crazy AAAAAdventure." He sarcastically threw his hands up in the air as he spoke, gesturing at the labyrinthine shifting city around them.

"Aw, c'mon, Rick! Maybe it'll be fun! I mean, all these, uh, crazy characters working together?" Morty looked around at the group of dimensional misfits travelling together; for the first time since he arrived he actually seemed somewhat happy - excited, even.

"Ohhh, right, sorry, let me translate that into STUPID MEDIEVAL LANGUAGE. 'R-r-ick *urp* and Morty are, are off on YE OLDE QUEST, because we're talking to a, a-a-a-a guy who still thinks the sun re-revolves around his crappy Earth."

"Yeah, w-w-well, at least, at least he doesn't experiment on homeless people, Rick!"

"J-jesus, Morty, you're still, you're still hauling that albatross around? That stupid expeirment was like, forty years before you were born. I recruited two, three of 'em tops. What, at least, at least I didn't, didn't wuss out and go to the Council for help. You know how many Mortys get used as, as-as lab rats by the Council, Morty? It could be worse. It could *urp* always be worse."

Morty bit his lip and mulled this over.

By the time that the motley group reached the center of the city and the strange lobby, Rick was among the last of them. "Ooohh, big, real big ominous, scary building in the middle of the city," he observed. "Somebody's probably compensating for something here."

"Oh boy, oh wow," observed Morty, nudging Gosuke in the ribs. "That's-that's a pretty neat trick, huh? Turning, turning into a ghost monster like that? That's, that's gonna come in real handy down the line, I bet."

Ghostfreak "jumped" when he saw that the receptionist was waiting for him. How did—?! he thought, but it was no use. He floated down until he was right in front of her, turning visible again. He was about to try and offer a weak explanation when Undyne barged into the lobby. "Undyne..." he groaned.

He then sighed and turned back towards the receptionist. "Um, I'm looking for some... information. We've all been brought here from our worlds, and I'm trying to find out where we are and why we were brought here." And hopefully how to get back, he thought, not sure if he should bring it up to this woman.

Ghostfreak's eye kept looking at the bloody man on the couch. He looked like he had suffered a lot recently. Too bad he didn't have any way to ease his pain. Usually that'd be Grandpa's job; he usually kept first aid in the Rust Bucket.

"EH!? Really?!" Evidently he hadn't. "They were talking about a bunch of stuff and the guy with the bird mask said really complicated things... I just didn't catch it all." He scratched his head, somewhat out of shame for not listening too intently.

"What a cool power, though!" He bounced back with a grin, though he looked towards Plague Knight as he started rambling on about Ben. "Ah, see, that. I could kinda keep up with that, but it just sounds really complicated, y'know?" he asked Josuke.

And then Undyne decided to just push on through ahead of them. He peered in as the door spun and deemed it safe enough to pass through himself.

Seeing the impatience of others, Alice just quietly followed Gentaro and Undyne into the building. It was apparently a library which meant that at least she would have plenty to read during her stay there, who knows? Maybe she could find some interesting books on magic there.

Viktor looked at the large building, it somewhat reminded him of the large and important buildings of the government of Zaun, though they looked more...dirty and had alot more of machinery in it.

He then saw the child transform in what looked to be a spirit-like being and phase through the building, somewhat reminding him of the undead of the shadow isles.

Viktor then saw the fish woman barge in a...rather unusual looking door to him, seeing the others enter, Viktor decided to follow them... though the lower part of his hex-core staff accidentaly got stuck as the revolving door closed down.

"What is... who was the fool who decided these kind of door devices were a good idea?!"

After a bit of angry ranting, he immediately got his staff out of the door, if one would pay attention it seemed his shoulder-arm seemed to glow slightly in red before it shutted down immediately and Viktor returned to the group.

Rex looked at the building, it was really big but not that tall. The group had arrived at the same time. "Weird" he thought, "I was going pretty fast, how did they catch up to me?".

Ben decided to get inside the building and come back with information. The kid had guts but he wasn't the brightest in the group.

"Cool, that one really creeps me out." he said while looking at Ghostfreak who then proceeded to turn invisible. "Wow. How did you do that?".

After a few minutes, the fish girl simply entered through the door and let herself in. Her damatric entry could use some work but Rex thought that was the smartest move, whatever brought them here would have killed them hours ago if it really wanted to.

The doors opened and revealed that the building was a library.

"A library? That doesn't make any sense. There must be something fishy going on here."

After a few seconds, Rex pointed to Undyne and added, "Pun completely intended".
