The city park

Ben stretched, continuing to look around but not seeing Thomas or Eve anywhere. He walked over to the other gazebo, looking at Louie doing stretches and nodding. "Morning!" Ben exclaimed. "This day looks pretty normal enough. Have you seen Eve? Or Thomas?" He pulled out his walkie talkie, turning it towards the City Knights' channel. "This is Ben Tennyson of the City Knights. Anyone reading me, over? Where are you guys?" he asked into the walkie talkie. No sort of interference this time.

While he waited for a response, he looked Louie over. "You always stretch in the morning?" he asked, curiously.

Balconies ~ A Lead

Fate raised an eyebrow at the mention of kidnapping. If she was understanding this right, there was a single person responsible for their departure. As such, if they wanted to return home they probably had to talk to this person, though if this person was comparing it to kidnapping then convincing them was probably easier said than done.

It sounds like this library is our best shot at getting any answers, Arf telepathically said to her, mirroring her own thoughts.

I was just about to mention as such, Fate replied, By how he speaks of it, I think it's likely the most important place here. It shouldn't take us long to find it. Do you think it's worth getting anything more out of him?

I believe the librarian would give us better information. I get the impression that this boy wouldn't have much of importance to say.

"We see," Fate said to the boy, "Thank you for the information."

Assuming he didn't do anything to stop them, the duo would then promptly turn and head off into the city, keeping an eye out for the library or anything else that might have stuck out.

Motel

Lucas was waiting for the kids and Jack to emerge from their room when his favorite person in the immediate area floated over to him. He noted the 1 point she had. Obviously, she had just found the book. And she was challenging him! Probably as some sort of test of the day's system. People who controlled others weren't ever to be trusted at face value. He needed to be careful. Luckily for him, the rules said he could deny any challenge he didn't deem acceptable, so there was no harm in hearing her out. If he did manage to win then he might be able to prevent her from getting a shot at the wish. Well... she did have a loyal servant who could probably be commanded to lose to Seiga on purpose, but a loss on her end was still something he saw benefit in.

Lucas, also whispering, responded "It d-depends on what you have in m-mind. I w-won't accept anything at all if you're allowed to f-fly, though."

Before he could get an answer, Forrest walked over to them. The impression Lucas got from Forrest yesterday was that of a genuinely nice guy. He trusted this guy way more than Seiga, as little as that meant. A game with him would actually be something he'd consider readily. Though what was ping-pong? Lucas asked him "I d-don't know what ping-pong is. I'm sorry, but I don't want to play a game I never even heard of with a reward like this at stake. Maybe Seiga knows about it?"

If Seiga played a game that had rules designed to make it fair against her then Lucas might be willing to play with her. But he was certain a game he didn't know was completely out of the question with someone familiar with it. He liked Forrest, though, so if Seiga did take him up on that challenge he would be happy to help prevent any loopholes by assisting in forming the rules.

Library

Rick stared at Miss Tairee, and it was clear that he was not having a particularly good morning - several hours of running around endlessly while running on nothing but a volatile combination of grit adrenaline, and alcohol fumes would do that for you.

"Look... library... Miss... y'know," he mumbled, waving his empty flask around "... y-you *urp* you got a, a, bottle of scotch from, uh, what was it, dimension C-357-Gamma? Or wait." Rick tapped his chin in thought. "Sorry, I mean, dimension C-357-Epsilon. he quickly corrected himself, shoving the empty test tube back into his pocket. "One's the *urp* one's the dimension where Scotland won World War III, the other's the, the timeline where they let live rats swim in the distillery tanks. Bad place. You ever - you ever, I dunno, like - meet someone from there?" He wiped a bit of dry vomit from his lower lip before continuing.

"Look, my grandson - Morty - went apeshit last night and then, and then I died before I could actually do anything, so now I got fuckall knowledge where he is and he's probably, I dunno, gonna flip out and kill someone again so I'd really like to... ugh, you can't help because you're on Star Trek logic, whatever, just gimme a *urp* drink. 's basically my catchphrase now." he added after a moment's thought.

Streets

"You're Bobby Moore 'bout that, guv?" wheedled the annoying furry creature as it followed him out of the alleyway - bizarrely, it didn't seem to have feet at all; it just sort of paddled along on its arms, its many spindly fingers slap-slapping against the ground as it went

"Yes. L-leave me alone." Morty massaged his temples and tried to think about something else. Why was everything a blur yesterday? They were- they were in a shack, and Rick had done something... and then there was a lot of screaming and then the screaming of... a buzzsaw? Chainsaw, chainsaw, that sounded right.

"'S all I'm saying here, china plate, onna your ones and twos fer this..." the creature rummaged under its hat with one of its hands, producing a grubby note, "...apple core, guv?"

"I'm not giving you my shoe! Jesus."

"Fair enough, garden gate, yer the pitch n' toss 'ere, fair enough. Oi!" The brown thing was already trundling after what looked like an Aztec warrior, looking around in utter confusion at his unfamiliar surroundings. "Oi, you! Oi'll pay ya a teapot lid fer yer titfer! It's a right proper deal, guv!"

Morty sighed as the... whatever it was... crawled off to bother someone else. A pair of what looked like Neanderthals in Starfleet uniforms went skateboarding past him, towards a little kiosk just off the main street... and for the first time since regaining consciousness Morty's hands fumbled for the pair of unfamiliar glasses in his pocket.

"Uh..." he asked an unfamiliar green-coated boy, striding up the street with a decidedly confident look about him, "y-you seen a, a - you seen my grandpa anywhere? I mean, uh, y-you know, about yea high, drinks a lot, always looks like he's about to, uh, throw up?"

Gon

Previously on Day 13:

Gon had finished taking care of Morty's chainsaw when he saw a fight was about to start.

"Hey! Just what the f-uck do you think you two are doing?!"

Before he could get a reply, he noticed that everything went dark.

"Oh damn it..."

On Day 14:

When Gon was able to sit up, he saw himself on a wooden bench in front of a nearby arena.

"Okay..." He checked himself and saw that he was okay. "Nothing out of the ordinary... I hope."

Lewis - General Vicinity of a Restaurant - Let's Begin the Preliminaries

I dashed down the street, my eyes passing over an alleyway, a restaurant, a blond dude in a labcoat I vaguely remembered seeing yesterday—

Wait a minute.

I skidded to a stop at the sight of what could be a potential first challenger, and turned back around to approach him. As I did this I caught sight of Cole running after me in quite the hurry. I guess he must have seen me racing ecstatically to find other competitors to challenge.

I bolted in the general direction of the two as fast as I could without bumping into either of them due to momentum, and then stopped in their general vicinity, bouncing like a hummingbird on some cocktail of dubiously-legal and incredibly spicy stimulants. "Cole! And...guy I think was at that Ferris wheel. Challenge me!"

Only immediately after I said this did I notice that both of them had no glasses and a score of zero.

"Wait. Ah, you don't know about the challenge, do you. Well, come on, there's no time to waste. It's a great one!"

As I said this, I started glancing around rapidly. Kiosk, kiosk...ah, there was one! Without waiting for a reply, I reached to start dragging Cole over to the likely-infinite stack of glasses, glancing between the kiosk and the man to see if he'd follow.

...Except not quite yet. Before Abel could step outside into the great big world to find answers, some kid came up to him and stuttered so bad he could hardly understand him. He looked behind him in what he hoped was a cool way, concealing his patched eye, and spoke. "No. Now buzz off. I've got work to do." He took a step forward, ready to explore this new and—

Motel, late sleepers

Seirwuosuhr stirred as distant voices could be heard talking, muffled through the walls. She sat up, her appearance still humanlike, yawned, then looked around.

"This place doesn't look scary" Seirwuoshur muttered to herself, then slowly climbed out of bed and wandered over to Jack. "Mister... Is there going to be more scary monsters today?" she asked quietly, while Tommy was still sleeping.

Park

"He's over there, being a sleepy head" Louie said, pointing back into the gazebo where Ben could see Thomas sleeping on one of the benches, the short walls of the gazebo putting him out of sight before.

"Th#s is B#n T#nnys#n#of#the Ci#y #nig#t#.#Anyon# re#ding me# over? #here#are#yo# gu#s?" Thomas' walkie talkie sputtered.

"Nnno professor, I'm not sleeping in class" Thomas mumbled, getting up and rubbing his eyes. He looked around, blinking and looking confused for a bit, before he seemed to remember as he looked towards Ben and Louie. "Oh, right. This place" the young wizard said, sounding quite the opposite of thrilled.

"Yup, I stretch every morning" Louie then answered Ben, continuing them. "It's good to be ready for the day, you know? I've got to let a couple of the team stretch too" he added, grabbing a couple of his pokeballs and tossing them out.

With flashes of light, two figures with birdlike features appeared. One was humanoid and red; the other looked more like a proper bird albeit with an enormously oversized bill. The humanoid one also seemed to have a lump of charcoal with faintly glowing embers held in one hand.

They let out some bird-like chirps and cries, the former stretching out its arms and legs while the latter spread its wings all the way out. Louie then looked at Ben. "Say, where can we get some grub in this city anyway? Most of these guys eat different stuff, too" Louie asked, patting at the pokeballs on his belt.

Library

"I do not have any alcoholic beverages here sir, but I can make any that you request" Miss Tairee said to Rick, starting to type on her computer. "I'm pretty sure I've never met anyone from your universe cluster before my boss began this" she added, as a bottle of the fine Scottish scotch appeared on the desk in front of Rick.

"You don't have to worry about your grandson killing anyone today. That's impossible" Miss Tairee informed him, then asked, "do you need anything else?"

Cole slowed down when Lewis turned to approach him, taking a moment to contemplate that the giant ghost was wearing some sort of bizarre glasses. "What are you-?"

Lewis immediately asked for them to "challenge" him, and then after a second, glanced between them, before insisting that the day's challenge was a "great one". Lewis then started pulling Cole along somewhere, which, for probably a change, Cole didn't really protest, just trotting along with Lewis as he was pulled along to some sort of...thing, with what looked like more of the weird glasses, and lots and lots of words. Hmm.

"I...what is this?" he asked after a second, looking up at Lewis. "What does this challenge do?"

Arcade should have guessed that all of the energy the purple guy had wouldn't stop when he noticed he had company. When he started heading his way Arcade started to back up, but stopped when the ghost did. He turned his head to see Cole nearby and mumbled, "it's Arcade, pleased to meet you too."

The ghost started rambling about a challenge and dragging Cole along with him. Arcade sighed and ran after them to see what all the fuss was about. "Somehow I feel like this will cause me to have yet another existential crisis as seems to be the general tone of my experience here," Arcade grumbled when he caught up.

Ben grinned when Louie let loose two more Pokemon. "Whoa, awesome!" he exclaimed. "You have more of them? What are those ones called? How many do you have?" At that moment, Ben's stomach began to grumble and he winced, laughing. "Yeah, we can get something to eat. I'm really hungry too. There's a bunch of restaurants in this place, and there's a supermarket with a bunch of food in it if we can find them. We'll just have to wait and find out which one we stumble upon first."

He rubbed his stomach. "And then we can head over to the library. I need to introduce you to a friend of mine anyway," he told Louie with a smile.

"Six in total, just like tournament regulation" Louie said, pointing to his pokeballs. "That's Ace, he's a blaziken. And she's Swishee, a Pelipper" he informed Ben, pointing to the humanoid one and then the other.

Thomas was getting up now, wandering over to the other two and letting out a quick yawn before looking around. "Nothing seems too bad about the city today..." Thomas thought out loud. "What's with that over there?" the young wizard asked, pointing towards one end of the park where a skate park branched off from it.

Ping-Pong talk, Forrest Gump

Sadly, Lucas told me somethin' I never expected from a lil' kid like him. I asked him, “You ain't ever heard of Ping Pong? Ping Pong is a simple game if ya get the hang of it.”

I went back into the motel and pulled out my paddles and Ping Pong ball. Since Lucas was a kid, it should be a cinch for him. I exited the building and resumed my talk on Ping Pong.

“Ping Pong is this game where you keep an eye on the ball and hittin' it with these paddles until someone forgets where they placed the ball. I played it a lot. That's all I have to say 'bout that.”

As I talked 'bout Ping Pong, I held up the paddles and ball at the right time. I honestly hoped that explanation was good enough for Lucas.

The city park -> The skate park

Ben raised an eyebrow and looked over at the skate park Thomas pointed out. "Weird. I don't remember there ever being a skate park in the City," he muttered. "C'mon, let's go check it out. And then... we can eat." Ben began to wander towards the skate park, making sure to keep Thomas and Louie in sight lest they shift away. He hopped down to see a kiosk he wasn't familiar with. He pulled one of the pieces of paper from the kiosk and began to read it. "This must be the challenge for today," he muttered, still reading it. Then he got to the part with the rewards.

Ben blinked. His eyes lit up. He grinned.

"It's settled!" Ben shouted. "I'll win this competition, and I know exactly what to wish for!" He handed Thomas and Louie each a pamphlet. "If we beat enough people in sports competitions, we can win a wish! Finally a chance to teach this Writer guy a lesson!" Grabbing the glasses, he put them on his head, but not over his eyes. "Now quickly let's get a bite to eat and start challenging people to games!"

The Grinch laughed to himself he finished building a bear,
it was nearly a yard tall and he just had to share.
He left the store, and then headed out,
he decided it was time to have a look about.
The Grinch went around toting his bear and his cow,
this city was wonderful, but it was time for a row.

He took off running and ran all around,
he shouted quickly loudly and made a loud sound.
"I do say it is time for me to join a contest!
A sporting even to find out which is best!
Is there anyone out there who is up for a challenge?

Day 13 - Parellel Talk

What Sans revealed what was quite a lot to take in. Caro ended up sitting there, speechless, for a bit, mulling it over. The last bit of his speech pretty much took out a lot of her possible main arguement against the rest of it.

Finally, while clearly quite a bit unsettled already, she went with, "Well ... I can't deny that some of that's true ... It did cause a lot of distress and trouble, including that mess with the attempt to fix your world ... And you are probably gonna say that even though there some pretty good moments, that those tended to be to just to fix the harm caused by bad ones, right? ... And you probably still fully expect me to say that is worth and I really do ... " She sighed quite deeply in sorrow, before adding, "There is a lot in each of our lifes that I would change if I could ... The troubled parts of my story, a lot of what happened to Cole, what happened to everyone in your world ... But even with that, at least with me ... If I had not lost control, if all that horrible things hadn't happened, would I ever have meet Fate? Maybe it would have been a generally happier life, but I can't help but feel that I would miss out on a lot ... I think that maybe the same goes for all of this ... "

Dawn of Day 14 - Aftermath

After a troubled and somewhat uncomfortable sleep, Caro woke up, seemingly in the same location as before, though it seemed to have been fixed and cleaned up during the day change.

While mulling over the whole conversation from last night, she followed as Sans and Cole went outside, with Friec tralling besides her. The whole place seemed almost back to normal, though it look a bit steep and vertical in a few places.

Before long, Cole ended up running after someone and as it wont to do, the city shifted him out of sight pretty soon. Should they try to go after him? What sort of dangers were lurking around today?

Sighing deeply, she slowly turned towards Sans and said, " ... Just great. So what are we gonna do now?"

Sports Motel, You're On Dude
The simple, quiet man who had been tagging along with them offered one sport she was familiar with. "Ping Pong is like Tennis," she explained to Lucas after Forrest had his go at exposition, "except it's played on a table, with a different ball and paddles. Hence why it's also called Table Tennis."

Now, she would prefer the quick victory over Lucas, just because her arms were way longer than his, but to be honest it seemed like Forrest was...mentally retarded in some fashion, to put it lightly. Even easier.

"It's been far too long since I've actually played, but I should be familiar with the rules," Seiga explained. "I'd be glad to accept. Though, would it be you versus me, you versus Lucas, or...?"

Skate park

Louie and Thomas followed Ben, Louie recalling Swishee but letting Ace follow along on his own. As they both read through the little booklets Ben handed them, Louie raised his eyebrows. "Well... Since only one of us can win, what should the rest of us do? Lose to the one on purpose just to share our points?" Louie asked.

"That seems risky. Since it only takes one loss to be out of the competition, we'd be better off holding onto our own points; that way if one of us loses, we still have a chance because the others still have their own points" Thomas responded. He lowered his eyebrows a bit and looked to Ben. "'The Writer guy'? You mean the entity running the city? The same one granting the wish?" the young wizard asked, then tapped a finger on the booklet, "Ben, you saw the fine print that the wish will have restrictions, right?"

Balconies ~ Somebody's Compensating for Something

I doubt we'll miss this library, Fate said to Arf, But just to be sure, I'll take to the air while you scout the ground level.

I agree with that plan of action, Arf replied.

At that decision, Fate was just about to take off when the boy decided he wasn't quite done with him yet. At his exclamation, Fate and Arf looked over their respective shoulders at him, the former looking neutral as always while the latter looked decidedly unamused.

"So what if we are?" Arf asked, "We can take care of ourselves just fine, boy."

She might had launched into a further explanation, had the boy not suddenly partially transformed into a motorcycle of some kind. That was enough to catch both of their attentions, and they turned to him fully.

I'm not seeing a Device on him, Fate commented, Unless those goggles are his, which they don't appear to be. Do you think this could be the result of a Lost Logia...?

I doubt it. This isn't the world where the Lost Logia landed, as far as either of us knows. Chances are whatever he's doing is something that's completely unknown to us.

I wonder how he does it, then.... At any rate, if he's offering to take us directly to the library, we might as well accept. If nothing else, it'd be a massive time saver.

Arf nodded in agreement.

"If you're going to be kind enough to escort us there, then we don't see a reason to turn you down," Fate said to the boy, before she and Arf hopped on and made themselves as comfortable and secure as they possibly could.

Motel-Seiga Might Have Goofed

The explanation from Forrest was welcome and fairly understood. Seiga's explanation probably would have worked if Lucas knew what tennis was. Seiga was apparently willing to challenge Forrest to this game. Lucas didn't really feel OK about just leaving it to him, but this might be a good idea. Forrest did say he played a lot. He just needed to help make sure the rules were airtight.

Lucas started to speak. First, he told Forrest "I think I kind of get your explanation, though it might be better if I see a match first. I lived in a small village, and I never saw a game like that. Looks fun, though."

He then told Seiga "I d-don't feel comfortable playing a game that I haven't even seen before against someone who says they play often. I think I'd rather watch you do it first before I decide."

Finally, Lucas decided to lay out the rule he figured should be in play. He asked both of them "Do you both agree that S-Seiga shouldn't be allowed to float for this? I don't think it would be fair if one of you didn't have to worry about their legs."

Day 14 - twists of life

Sans let out a chuckle as he heard Caro predicting what he could try saying. "we really do know each other very well huh."

He paused to think about it all, letting out a sigh as his expression brightened up a little. His smile seemed more genuine and he seemed more relaxed, even relieved to some extent.

"sometimes you end up having to suffer before good things happen, it certainly worked for you. might not have been the ideal result, but we i guess we can't just focus too much on the what-ifs and just do the best with what we have; and i'm sure that for you it was all worth it in the end." He paused again. "truthfully, it doesn't matter what i think about all of this. in the end, it boils down to how you feel. whether all the trouble i've made you go through was worth it, whether you think being friends with me is making you happy or not, whether you can live with becoming closer and closer to someone you know you won't be able to save, that's up to you to decide," he spoke, his tone was very calm and gentle, although he was also being fairly serious.

"like i said before, all i want is for you to be happy and if you really think i'm someone worth being friends with, well... that's your bad taste," he concluded, saying the last sentence in a more lighthearted tone and shrugging, making clear it was just a joke.

Day 14 - that just happened

Sans just watched as Lewis rushed by him, whatever happened left him in quite a rush but he also seemed to be very happy about something. Not a moment afterwards Cole ran off and soon went out of sight, followed by Caro coming out of the restaurant as well.

"well, might as well do some looking around, right?"

Something Sans noticed nearby was a small building that seemed to stand out from the others a little. He could see some papers and, oddly, glasses in there so that was something new. He looked at the paper which apparently was for some sort of contest, he only read the first paragraph before deciding he wanted nothing to do with it.

"hey, caro, why don't you check this out?" He called, showing her what was written on it.

Lewis - General Vicinity of a Restaurant - Getting Out the Rulebook

"Hnh. Bit of a weird thing to name one's kid. But nice to meet you, Arcade, name's Lewis," I said to him, waving one hand, which still held the booklet I'd taken earlier.

And as I'd hoped, Arcade followed me to the little booth, albeit he seemed to be muttering something rather grumpily. I didn't catch what it was but hell, he'd cheer up once he got a load of this. Sure, that probably wouldn't last long given I had every intention of kicking his ass but hey, what was I supposed to do, let him win?

I let go of Cole, who was boggling at me in bafflement as to what was going on here, and shoved the booklet I was holding into his hands along with a pair of glasses from the counter, taking another booklet and doing the same for Arcade just after. "Here, c'mon, just read it. You're gonna love it, it's amazing!"

"I wouldn't let a little thing like that stop me, Lucas. I'll accept that handicap." Seiga's shoes landed with a clack as her body came back down to Earth, evening the playing field in Forrest's favor just a little. He'd probably need all the help he could get, and she could still take him out easily.

Yoshika came up alongside her, and said "Can I play? I know I don't do good at valleyba-"

"Volleyball," Seiga corrected, a little twitch in her eyelid as she remembered that.

"Volleyball, right. I'm not good at it, but I can do this easy!"

Seiga shook her head, patted Yoshika's head, and would've done something to a third party's head if she had a third arm. "No, no, we have an entire day to play some games. Besides, I believe you have to read the rules first, so take this and look it over," she said as she handed over her copy of the rulebook. "Just ask for help with any of the hard words when I'm done with this."

End of Day 13, in the restaurant

Cole took in what Sans and Caro were saying with a clearly concerned expression, taking in what they were saying as they discussed their feelings on things. Caro seemed rather perturbed, and Sans was making a joke...he thought. It was harder to tell without his powers, but...he didn't want to take the amulet off, not with what he knew was outside.

Hesitantly, he scooted across the floor to be closer to the both of them, biting his lip a moment before speaking. "...I...I knew from when we met what...what troubled you most, Sans, but..." He sighed a little, looking to the side. "...you've been through so much, so much more than so many in this city, but...I..."

He fidgeted with the amulet again a moment, keeping his gaze averted. "You haven't caused...caused me any troubles. There are a lot of people in this city I want to be able to save, but...a lot of them...well...you...a-and you too, Caro...you...you've both tried so hard to help me, to..."

Another short pause, lowering his gaze a little more. "...you know...back in Thedas...whenever I would say 'I don't matter' or that I should do something to help even if it would hurt me, no one told me different. No one told me I...I mattered, or...that I was important. Most of them weren't cruel but...none of them saw me the way...the way you've both seen me...the way of the others here I think...might see me too. You...you two were the first to tell me I...I mattered too. I...I didn't...I still don't know how to think of that, but..."

He looked back up at Sans finally, almost nervously. "Y-you can't th-think...th-that I wouldn't want to spend as time as I could...having friends who would do that, who would keep trying with me even when I don't understand. It would have been so easy for you to just let me walk away, to just let me leave and go back on my own, but you didn't, you wouldn't, even if I fought to. You even got upset, not to be mean, but...b-because...because you cared and...I never had...I never had that before. Even...e-even if...even if this is all we have is the time here...I...I think you've given me a lot...both of you, together, and apart, you've...you helped me. I...I want to help you back, but..." He lowered his head again. "If...if I can't...I just do want you to know as long as you can what you...what you've done for me, if...that means anything?"

Day 14, I'm three and what is this

Cole didn't seem to have any real reaction to the booklet and glasses Lewis pushed on him, staring at the paper a little blankly, turning it over in his hand before holding it up, clearly upside-down, and frowning at it intently, as though trying to parse out its secrets. Having done that, and apparently not found his answers, he glanced to Arcade, tilting his head at the man, apparently wondering what his take on it was.
