"Don't worry man, there's plenty to go around; just keep it" Fastanook told Cole, already grabbing himself a new wraithbone amulet from one of the boxes.

"At this rate you people will make me have to be in two places at once again. You will all have to hold on a moment" Miss Tairee muttered, sounding a bit frustrated. She kept typing into the holographic screen, pausing to watch a string of multi-dimensional information scroll by.

"Miss Kelsey, I do believe you should find this armor and weaponry quite appropriate" Miss Tairee told the angered woman, hitting a couple more keys. Kelsey blurred for a moment, and then was standing in blood red colored armor with ornate gold trimmings, a matching power pack on her back, and a helmet with a golden skull pattern and horns to it. For anyone who'd seen Brother Marcus' armor up close, the material and general make of the armor would likely seem familiar, though of course the size, shape, and artistic style were vastly different. From her body language, Kelsey did seem surprised, but that faded quickly, and she realized a pair of weapons were attached to her back, which she drew to inspect; and again, anyone familiar with Marcus' chainsword would see the obvious parallels, though these chainsaw-based weapons were shaped as axes instead of swords.note

"Can I go into space with this?" Kelsey asked, her voice a little bit filtered now.

"It does sufficiently function as a space suit as well, yes" Miss Tairee answered.

"Perfect" Kelsey muttered, and moved towards the nearest airlock.

"Now, let's see. Mister Sans, I can create you goggles that let you see only invisible things. As in, everything else appears black with them on" Miss Tairee told Sans, one hand pointing her healing device at Rex and Lune and shooting them with the healing beam, while the other hand kept typing. "As for you Rex, I cannot give you a recreation of the gun that the geth known as Legion carried. Nor can I make you any guns that are enchanted to specifically harm demons. Miss Lune, I can't give you a Zankantou, but I can certainly give you a large sword if that's all you care for" the librarian informed the two being healed. About that time, there was a blur on a table next to Sans, and a cylindrical container precisely identical to the one Yael had Old Feather Beak's remains in appeared there.

As Miss Tairee finished healing and typing, Eve's dress blurred for a moment and then was in pristine condition. Though Miss Tairee then looked at her and asked while folding her arms, "aren't you capable of fixing your clothes yourself with your nanites? I don't appreciate being asked to help people with problems they are capable of solving themselves with ease."

Meanwhile, though Thomas was distracted momentarily via being frightened by the appearance of Kelsey's armor and weapons, he did manage to catch what Ben was saying and seemed curious. "So can you scan anyone with that and become a copy of them, Ben? Like, even me? Or even..." Thomas trailed off and glanced towards Miss Tairee.

Jack's eyebrows shot up, and he opened to his mouth to reply. Then he stopped, closed it and just sighed as he let her go. He could almost admire her determination and resolve, if it didn't feel like she was playing right into what she was afraid of. That, and he was worried she might go back to how she was. The outfit and weapons that Tairee outfitted her with only strengthened this worry. That was not the outfit of a good person. Something sat heavy in the spirit's stomach as he realized he had most likely failed in his attempts to help Kelsey.

Already feeling bad, Jack's mood took a further drop when he spotted Sans nearby, talking to Caro and who he assumed was the leader of the militia from what he saw earlier. Everything looked fine, but did he really know the skeleton? The answer was a pretty obvious no.

Then he looked over at where Cole was standing near Tairee, looking a lot better than he had been when the spirit had last seen him. That was another thing he had to do. He ran a hand down his face, groaning. "Even bringing winter was never this hard."

After a moment of thought, Jack made his decision and started to head towards Cole. With so many people around, Sans probably wouldn't try anything. If there was even anything to try. Now that he wasn't so angry, his suspicion of the skeleton didn't quite mesh with the image of the anti-humans he had seen so far. The way he acted around Caro was pretty close to how a brother would treat a younger sibling. He was going to tentatively hope that he was right. And plus, he seemed to run into the two more often than Cole, so it was probably best to talk to his fellow spirit before he disappeared again.

Putting on a smile, Jack waved. He was glad to see him back on his feet. "Hey Cole, It's really great to see you better. I was curious about something about you. How long have you been a spirit?"

Library - copycats

Sans shrugged at Miss Tairee once she talked about the goggles would work. "works for me, make a few of them so other people can use if they want" he said.

The limits on the goggles could be a little problematic but it was better than nothing, he wanted to make sure that bird wouldn't escape by turning himself invisible. While he waited for Tairee to make them, he looked over at the container and quickly realized that it was her who even gave the Ruckus the one they were using, of course. Either way, he picked up the container and pulled his cellphone out so he could store it in the dimensional box.

In the meantime, Ben came up with something and that was scanning the skeleton so they'd have double the weaponry against the demon. Wow, the kid actually had a good idea, although just thinking about it for a brief moment he could already see some limitations in that copy ability.

"heh, never thought i'd see someone who'd want to be like me," he joked as he stored the container in the dimensional box and then walked over to Ben, "all right, i'll bite, how does that work? do i just touch the watch?" he asked, not even waiting before trying to touch it.

The library

Ben was about to clarify Thomas' question, when Sans immediately went to reach for the Omnitrix. Instinctively, when Sans touched the Omnitrix, Ben jerked away, but not before the Omnitrix beeped and flashed yellow, then in the movement Sans pressed the button on the watch. The room was bathed in green light. In a fraction of a second, Ben's hair and skin sunk into his body, leaving bone visible. He didn't change much visually except become taller and stockier. Within the empty pits of his eyes a green glow began to appear, and when the light subsided, Ben stood there in a new form, resembling some kind of cross between Ben and Sans.

Ben raised his "brow" widely, looking at his body. He then looked at Sans with furrowed brow. "Be careful with that," he retorted, his voice deeper but not quite as deep as that of Sans. He sighed. "Well, I guess that answers your question, Sans. What can this form do? And what should I call it...?" he asked, mostly to himself.

Library - the wonder skeletwins

Despite the light show happening in front of him and the fact he was now staring at what was pretty much a fusion of him and Ben, Sans looked vaguely impressed at best.

"huh, you look like you could be my twin or something. guess i shouldn't be surprised." He shrugged. "normally i'd tell you to figure it out yourself, but with these circumstances, i guess i'll throw you a bone"

With that said, Sans materialized a couple of transparent bones that started floating in mid-air.

"listen up, estebone," He let out a quick chuckle. "monster magic not only can harm the body, but it also hurts the soul of the target directly. i'm weak, so my bones aren't physical, but that's just me, you should be able to make normal ones." He then made the bones disappear, "try it, it should come naturally to you, focus a little bit and they should appear as you want them to."

Cole smiled a little at Fastanook when he was told to keep the amulet, before he just stood and fidgeted a bit, listening to what was going on around him. He tilted his head a little when it seemed as though Sans and Ben were up to something, but then he was being spoken to, and Cole glanced to his fellow spirit, who seemed to be checking in on him.

"Hello Jack Frost," he said, fiddling with his own fingers a bit. However, then he was asked a question that made him look rather puzzled.

"I...I was always a spirit?" he said, looking confused. "I don't...I wasn't...well. I was a spirit. I am human now...even if perhaps I wish I was still just a spirit. I don't remember any of it very well. Spirits don't...last, inside where they think, or..." He paused, apparently not sure how to explain it properly. "But I was always a spirit before I became a human. And Varric told me to count autumns as a human, because without having a proper name day, I couldn't keep up. He says the leaves turn red every year, even if winter brings no snow, or the spring brings no storms. I have seen two autumns and I am about to see my third."

In Space, Can You Really Have "Put-Downs" If There Is No Up?
The very first thing that Seiga said upon stepping foot into atmosphere once more was "Yoshika, remind me to find some radios. I don't like that kind of silence." Yoshika nodded; even if remembering things like that wasn't her strong suit, she'd do it.

Now, the interior of the ship didn't exactly inspire confidence in their choice. Mostly the dead deer...no, just about entirely the dead deer. That aliens apparently visited Earth just to hunt game was somewhat unsettling.

Moving up along with Rick, with Seiga's phaser drawn and Yoshika's remaining safely holstered, the older one had a question. "Rick...you don't mind if I just call you Rick, right? I have to ask, what exactly are Probulons?"

The Library — Chat with a cereal killer

Tairee declared that she simply couldn't replicate Legion's gun and much less a version specifically designed to harm the demon. So much for that plan, then. At least Rex's injuries were healed.

"Whatever. I have my own gun right here" he said, flexing his right arm "Along with a bunch of other weapons"

Speaking of requests, Eve asked the librarian to fix her dress and although she complied, Tairee was annoyed at having to fix her clothes since apparently Eve could do it herself with the help of her nanites.

"You can do that? I so need to learn that trick"

And continuing with another request—that actually got fulfilled—Kelsey asked for the weapons and armor Tairee had offered before. The librarian summoned a red armor for her and Kelsey seemed determined to go fight the demon. Rex figured she needed to calm down a bit and went after her.

"Kelsey, can you stop that? This isn't going to fix anything. If you really want to stop the demon you can try helping us. But going out there alone means getting yourself killed. Or worse"

Ok, so the always being a spirit part, Jack got. He had met a few of the old ones like that, before they had faded away. And according to the others, Pitch had been around for a very long time and was the same. The turning into a human part on the other hand. A deep look of confusion spread across his face. "Wait, human? I thought you were a spirit. Or- still are a spirit, or- Urgh."

Jack went quiet for a moment, just thinking over what he had heard. The comment about autumn was slightly worrying, since it what Cole was saying was right, meant that he had been human for not even three years. Which was... he didn't even know. This was unlike anything he'd ever encountered before. "Alright, so how did you, uh, become human, then?"

Eve|Library

Eve breathed a sigh of relief at having her dress replaced. Though the librarian is right, she could replace her dress using nanites, it always felt a little wrong to wear, as if it was a second skin.

"I can, but it never feels right."

Then Rex piped up with the fact he couldn't do that. How strange. Though, admittedly, it take her a while to get the hang of it, so she defaulted to her current dress. It took finesse and practice.

"It's odd to wear, but a good skill to have.

"I'm both. And...neither, I guess. Solas says there hasn't ever been anything quite like me before in the world. He would know, he knows almost everything about spirits." Cole looked down, fiddling his fingers together somewhat.

"There are...two pieces of me. One is Compassion, a spirit. That's who I was first, for so long. But spirits can't hold memories, or anything but what they are. Compassion soothes, salves, saves, and moves on to the next, no reason, no right, nothing but here and now and gone then, gone again. Compassion is ancient, but doesn't know how far it has come. It is and it always was."

He shifted slightly, hunching down a little more. "The other piece is Cole. A boy, born of a stolen wilder mother and an angry man who stole her. The man...I don't know why the man took her, or...why Cole existed, because...he didn't love them. He coveted her, and...children, came, but...but he didn't want them." Cole's voice became deeper, rough and slurred like someone with entirely too much drink in them. Too many mouths, too much food, should've drowned you when you was born, part of them, like them, part of the animals your mother was, wicked boy, shouldn't even be."

Cole winced. "Cole had...Cole had a little sister too. ...Bunny. Sweet little Bunny, golden hair and happy smile, always there, trusting, loving, knowing it would be okay, brother would protect her, would love her, never let their father touch her, never, never..."

Cole paused for a second, looking down at his hands, flexing them a moment before putting them together, clasping them tightly as though to prevent something from escaping. "Cole was a mage. Mages are considered lesser, horrible, monsters in Thedas. Dangerous wild creatures that could harm anyone. His father lost all semblance of control. Killed Cole's mother, blaming her, this came from you, barbarian witch! She told Cole to run, take sister and hide, stay quiet, stay hidden, and they...they ran, they hid..."

The spirit winced, tightening his clasped hands a little more. "Cole...I...he...Bunny wouldn't stop crying. She was so small, and...a-and so sc-scared. I..." A slight hitch had come into his voice, a voice that seemed to be slowly become far less airy than Cole's usual tone. "I just wanted her to be quiet...wanted her to be still like mother said...I didn't know. I thought she was just being good...I thought she was being so good..."

Cole paused, before starting to speak again, sounding more like himself, though still shaken. "They all died. Their father killed their mother, Cole...Cole accidentally suffocated Bunny, and then he used his magic...froze his father before stabbing him through...over and over..." Cole reached back, taking the small knife from his belt, not brandishing it, just examining it for a moment, before tucking it away again. "He...he was...he was barely 12. The...the Templars came...after that. They..."

Another pause. "They lock up mages back home. They...forgot. They forgot him, in their dungeon, in the dark, and the small...left him alone in that place...just like the cabinet back home but without Bunny...but...but with the pain inside growing and growling and...and I came to him. Compassion heard his cries and came, trying to help. Forced itself through the Veil to reach him, damaged itself to help, and...couldn't. Couldn't save him, couldn't end his pain. I...held his...he held my...Compassion took Cole's hand...stayed until he died. And..."

Cole shrugged faintly, staring down at the floor. "And then there was me. Both. Not in his body but in my own somehow, but...just like him. And I...I forgot. I forgot Compassion. And...everyone still forgot Cole, s-so...so I didn't know. I didn't know what I was. Until..."

He let out a breath. "Well. That...that is what I was until I joined the Inquisition, I think...a year later. Varric and the Inquisitor helped me to learn, helped me to be more Cole than Compassion. And now I am as I am. What I am now, I have been for...for the time I have seen. Something new, out of two things that were old. ...it's...it's not a nice explanation, I'm sorry. But it is the true one."

In Space, But We're Not Really In Space Anymore, But Anyways, In Space, What Is The Sound of One Hand Clapping?

"Probulons, y-y-y*urp* you know, uh," Rick fumbled for an explanation as he leaned up against a nearby wall, clutching his gun like a sterotypical secret agent note  and fumbling with a nearby computer console, displaying a constant alien gibberish faster than the eye could follow, "- they're those guys."

"... those guys?" parroted Morty.

"Oh, you know, big heads, big eyes, about yea high, like *urp* like flying to undeveloped civilizations and *urp* and terrorizing the, the, dumb, undeveloped, backwoods inhabitants with... well, I mean, w-what, you think they're called Probulons because th-they llllike probiotic foods?"

"Aw jeez, Rick, y-y'know, I-I thought those guys were just, like, urban legends, you know? Or, uh, or, like, country legends, I guess?" Morty bit his lip and tried not to think about what kind of probes the Probulons might deploy against his fragile human anatomy. "Hillbilly legends?" he ventured after a moment's thought.

"Okay, well, y-you know, they go by a lotta different names, Morty, greys, skritna, Terrors of the Sphincter," explained Rick to the group hastily as the tube opened, revealing a green shaft of light and a gentle sucking sensation akin to putting your hand too close to a vacuum cleaner. "Just - just let's get to the bridge and clear out, okay?"

It was at that moment that a small, almost childish figure, just a few inches shorter than Seiga or Yoshika, waddled up the gangplank. This would have only caused Morty's stomach to drop into its usual bottomless pit of fear if it weren't for the fact that said figure was also, against all odds, carrying a bag of groceries in its skinny little arms. It unscrewed its helmet - revealing a bulbous head shaped like a watermelon and a pair of black, bug-like eyes, and bustled around the hangar for a few seconds as it hummed a little tune to itself.

Then, it happened to see the quartet of humans hunched up against one wall. There was a long silence as the alien pulled something out of its spacesuit from a pocket that was a little too uncomfortably low on the hip. Without saying anything, it charged towards them, carrying a.... thing in its hand - a glowing, tubular gizmo that seemed too small to be a melee weapon but too awkwardly shaped to fire any kind of projectile weaponry. Morty was already screaming and running for the elevator, or hyperlift, or whatever you wanted to call it.

"Look out!" cried Rick as he drew his gun. "Cover your *urp* asses!"

Jack stood quietly as he listened to Cole's story, but while he didn't say anything. His face made it clear how he felt as the story progressed. Surprise, anger, sadness. The part about Cole's sister in particular hit Jack, as memories of the sister he had once had when he was human rose up. The thought of what Cole had gone through, what had happened by no true fault of his own, filled the spirit with deep sympathy. He didn't even notice the few tears escape his own eyes as he listened. He was starting to understand some of Cole's odd behaviour, and realized he'd been close. Part of the spirit was only a child. He decided it was best to probably move on from this topic.

Once it was finished, Jack took a deep breath. "No Cole, it's ok. I... I asked. I'm sorry I brought it back up. And... I'm sorry for what happened to you, to the old Cole."

And then, Jack did something that he never really did. Never really could, before. He stepped forward and hugged the spirit. After a quiet moment, he said. "It's not... It's not anywhere near the same, but. I used to be human once, you know. If there is anything to need helping understanding about being human, you can ask."

In Space, There Is No Sound For Anything Dumbass
The description sure seemed familiar to the kinds of aliens Seiga saw in cartoons and whatnot, but when Rick explained the name, she was very, very worried it could mean something different entirely. No, not really worried, she was doing her best to convince herself that an entire species wouldn't be named after an unfathomable action.

When Rick referred to them as "Terrors of The Sphincter" however, all pretenses were dropped. They could've just come from a far-off place called Probulus, but nooooo, they just had to do that. Seiga's expression changed from vague apprehension to outright disgust. Covering each others' backs wasn't a euphemism!

When one appeared, and brought out something which she dare not think about too hard, she immediately did three things. One, a very certain kind of physical reaction which you, the reader, should probably be able to guess through context clues. Two, she noted how unsurprised she was that something exactly fitting the description of fake aliens on Earth exists. Three, she immediately drew her stun pistol, fired it at its bulbous head, and shouted "Yoshika, kill it!" at the same time.

When the phase bolt connected and stunned the Probulon out cold, Yoshika ran on over and immediately killed it by snapping its thin, very questionably-designed neck in one quick move. Now, usually she then gets to eat her share from these kinds of things, but ts corpse disappeared and pressing business dictated otherwise as Seiga pulled her back. The hermit quickly followed along Morty's path, and said to Rick as she passed, "We're killing these things on sight, and I hope you don't mind!

Cole blinked at the seeming emotion from Jack about things, going still for a moment when he was hugged, though not pulling away. He still had his amulet on, so he couldn't see inside, couldn't understand why this seemed to be affecting the other man so much. "I-I...it's...o-okay?"

He hesitated a moment before carefully hugging Jack back, a little awkwardly. "I...th-thank you? I don't...I-I don't know if I want to know about b-being more human, though. Mary wanted to be human and she...it was...bad. I don't think w-wanting to be human is...is a good thing. I...I'd rather be a spirit again. It was...easier."

"Very well then" Miss Tairee said, hitting a few keys on the holographic keyboard. After a short wait, there was a blur on the table where the container had appeared, and a bunch of what looked like old fashioned aviator goggles appeared, though the lenses looked pure black given the stated effects.

Meanwhile, Kelsey paused and turned her head towards Rex, the new helmet hiding her expression underneath. "And so what if I die, huh? After all I did before I'll gladly accept that punishment!" Kelsey said angrily at him.

Wells, his attention caught by this exchange, walked over towards her as well. "Hold on, the boy's right- for once. You don't honestly think you stand a chance against the demon alone do you? We all stand better odds of putting it away for good if we work together" Wells pointed out to her.

"I never said I was going to fight the demon!" Kelsey retorted.

Wells seemed a bit surprised at that. "Then what are you going to do?" Wells asked, his expression and tone getting a bit suspicious, one hand going to his newly acquired phaser pistol.

"Fight. Anyone or anything trying that prey on people who don't deserve it; just as long as I get to fight until something kills me, and then I'll do it all over again and again! This is my repentance for those murders I did!" Kelsey stated firmly.

Wells narrowed his eyes. "That's right, you were with Ruckus before weren't you? Did an awful lot of bad things for them" Wells muttered, and drew his phaser. "Then instead of that, we'll be taking you in to our prison!" the soldier announced.

Kelsey stood still for a moment, whatever thoughts going through her head still obscured by her new helmet. Then her stance dropped a bit, placing her feet a bit apart and holding the chainaxes up at the ready. "By the tenants of my god, I can't just turn myself over. I must fight" Kelsey growled.

"And neither of you will start a fight in my library!" Miss Tairee suddenly yelled from where she was standing, simply frowning slightly towards the situation.

In Space, Time to Dial Back on the Risqué Content

Rick stepped out onto the bridge and dropkicked another one of the scrawny aliens into a nearby wall. Its sole compatriot went running off into a nearby cryogenic chamber in blind panic. Next to them, a shellshocked-looking redneck stood frozen in his tracks, shotgun encrusted covered with icicles and pointing at nothing in particular. Rick tossed its unconscious companion inside, slammed the door shut and watched as they froze over, with an evident sense of satisfaction on his face.

The bridge itself hadn't really been built for humans; the chairs were small and sat at odd angles; Rick squashed himself in what was evidently the commander's chair and got to work punching buttons and twisting dials - the ship lurched its way out of the impromptu docking bay and out into the wild blue - well, black - yonder.

"Okay, so, uh," Rick took a shot as he swerved around a passing ship, "so, wh-what were we doin'?"

"Going to your, uh, the-"

"-lab, right. Yeah. Might be some *urp* some stuff I can get offa this ship, right?" Rick poured some more booze into his flask from the bag at his hand. "Y-you girls ever been to space, you *urp* you know? Like, real space - I -I mean not, not this fake crap. It's a big place."

Morty stared out the window, very carefully not thinking about everything that had just transpired in the last five minutes or so.

"So, are you like, a, a, a..." Morty faltered for words. "like, a zombie? Girl? Zombie girl?"

He listened to Sans' explanation, and when Sans encouraged him to try it, he spent a bit trying to figure it out, until Kelsey and Lt. Wells started to fight. Estebone glared at the two, then gestured towards a space between the two of them. A wall of bones sprouted up from the ground to block the two.

"Cool it! Both of you!" Estebone exclaimed. "We're on the same side here. We gotta deal with the demon, we can deal with this later! What we need is to hunt this guy down. We've got the firepower, we just need to get to him before he can get to anyone else and start Ruckus up again."

Library - well this is a mess

A fight was about to start between the armored woman and the militia, but if nothing else that gave Ben an opportunity to show off his powers. For someone who just started it was pretty impressive, then again strong emotions could make it easier to use magic sometimes.

"nice," he bluntly stated, not really concerning himself with the conflict.

He also heard Cole tell his story to Jack, paired with everything else the kid had told him before, it was amazing how his tale was only getting worse and worse. Jack was unsurprisingly sympathetic and hugged him, but Sans still decided to walk over to the spirits and make a statement of his own. Plus he had to get the goggles.

"cole, just because things turned out bad with that girl doesn't mean the same will happen to you. you two are completely different people, don't let what happened with her discourage you," he advised, shrugging, then looking more apologetic, "by the way, sorry for getting you shot for nothing earlier, the demon ended up gettin' out anyway."

Eve's explanation was a little odd but her abilties were still surprising. In the cosmetical purposes department, Rex only had a weird tattoo to help him deal with any shapeshifter that tried to take his place. But, maybe he could do the same, somehow. Nanites were designed to build things after all, right?

"It's still pretty neat"

Onto more pressing matters. Kelsey rationalized her behavior by saying the she deserved whatever happened to her because of her previous actions. Rex wasn't going to let her self-destructive behaviour remain unchecked.

"I was thinking more along the lines of getting brainwashed again. You feel guilty for what you did. You don't want to end up doing it again, right?"

Wells joined the conversation and told her to listen to Rex. Oh great, the lieutenant was there to criticize Rex again and probably make the situation worse.

"Don't listen to Wells, he—Wait, what? You are agreeing with me?" Man, that Slurm bottlecap wasn't lying, this was his lucky day "I'm just gonna roll with it"

"I'm saying that you need help. Maybe not exactly going to prison" he briefly looked back at Wells and the other milita member, signaling them to lower their weapons "Come on guys. Don't be so trigger happy"

"But that self-hatred isn't going to fix anything. I know, I've seen people turn on their loved ones against their will. The only thing you can do is try to move on with your life. And the only way you can do that is if you let us help you"

Right at that a skeleton joined the conversation, telling both parties to calm down and stay focused on the demon. He proceeded to created a wall of bones to stop a fight from breaking out between the militia and Kelsey. Things were going so well but this move was going to complicate things.

"Sans, I've got thi—" Surprisingly, this guy was green. And he had a familiar symbol on his chest "Wait, Ben? Since when is Sans an alien?"

In Space, Out of Space
Luckily for Yoshika, any of the nondescript things that had just happened flew over her head entirely, so she was left in her usual state of happy unthinking. Morty's question woke her into her more usual state of happy thinking, so she nodded and cheerfully replied, "Yep! I'm a zombie girl. And not just any kind, the best kind! I'm actually a-"

"Yoshika, you don't have to tell everyone that," Seiga said to her as she looked out the window of the ship, ignoring Rick freely freezing some fiendish foes. "It doesn't really matter to most people." Yoshika protested with many quiet "buts" but Seiga butted her way in and said "But nothing."

She looked back and Morty and added, "You have a good eye, she passes as normal to most people. I put a lot of effort into making her like that." Though, what exactly gave it away? It was the neck-snapping, probably, but who knows. She'd let that question remain unanswered. "And no, we haven't been to space. It's not really feasible, even with magic, mostly because the only place we can go isn't filled with good people. I take it you've certainly been around, however."

Jack stepped back out of the hug, and was about to reply to Cole, when Sans made his way over to join in. He tensed briefly, and eyed the skeleton for a moment. His was slightly more tense than before, but didn't let it show. That conversation could wait. "Sans is right, Cole. You're not Mary, so you shouldn't base who you are and what might happen on her. Being human isn't something bad or to be afraid of. And it sounds like being a spirit was... well, lonely. You didn't really have anything or anyone, right?"

Sounds of yelling caught Jack's attention, and he turned to find the now armoured Kelsey standing off against the militia leader. Great, it was already starting. He turned back around, content to ignore it unless it escalated.

Cole blinked a bit when Sans came over, and he lowered his gaze to the side, avoiding looking at either Sans or Jack, wringing his hands somewhat. He looked up when he realized that there was something going on between Wells and Kelsey, and for a moment he looked like he might move to interfere, before pausing, then just hunching down a bit where he stood.

"...I don't...it's...it's fine..." Cole took a step back from both of them. "It...i-it doesn't m-matter, I don't mat-,"

He seemed to flinch slightly when he said that, a look of fear flashing on his face as he looked at Sans quickly, then he just looked down at his feet again, visibly cringing. "I-I-I-I'm sorry, p-p-please d-don't, don't make m-me not move, please, I'm sorry, I won't say it again, I won't, I promise I won't..."

Library - consequences

Cole all of sudden began acting very scared of him, it actually surprised Sans enough to take him aback a little. The stuff he was talking about made it very clear that he was talking about the events of the previous day when the skeleton snapped at him, it looked like that event ended up leaving some emotional scars that he wasn't expecting.

... Or opening old ones.

"you're... scared of me? because of what happened yesterday?" he asked rhetorically, before sighing, "look, i'm sorry, i didn't mean to scare you like that. i only kept you in place because i didn't want you to panic and end up getting separated from us and killed by robots. i'm not mad at you, kid," he explained himself, sounding sincere.

Jack noticed Cole seem to drawn in on himself when Sans showed up. When a look of very real fear spread across Cole's face and he started panicking, Jack turned a furious look on Sans at the same he put himself between the two. His tone was hard when he spoke. "He's not going to do anything to you, Cole. I promise. What is he talking about, Sans? What did you do to him? Why were you holding him in place."

He was angry, and hurt, that it turned out that maybe there was more of a reason for him being part of the anti-humans than he had hoped. Whatever game he was trying to play, Jack wasn't going to let him.
