Leviathan battle - Self destruction?

"And you'd get blown up too!" Curly said in response. Though, that's kind of the point, isn't it? She said she died already, so apparently it was true nobody would stay dead in the city. And she wouldn't feel any pain, you couldn't ask for a better volunteer "You really want to do that? Fine, guess I don't need to tell you to wait for it to get as close as possible first"

Curly got out of the chair and rushed toward Yoshika to help her prime the torpedo before preparing to seal the door behind her in an effort to help direct the impending detonation at the beast . "Good luck Yoshika. Come on Sophie, unless you plan on exploding too" Once Sophie was clear and the door sealed, Curly ran down the tunnel to gain some distance before turning to look over her shoulder.

Seiga, In An Elevator, Oh Man
Seiga groaned and rubbed her forehead. Of course, only 3 days into their stay, and she had just made the most impossibly powerful enemy she could make! Unlike Gensokyo, where the most powerful was a certain miko, she was far less convinced of the laws binding her.

"You see...we're not the only ones in danger, you and I. Certainly, if we aggravate her, she could probably do a thousand unspeakable acts on us with her power, or make us die permanently, or things worse than either...but that's only half the worry." She looked down at the floor of the elevator, her concern turning into, dare I say it, distraught. It took a few moments for her to get the words out, because she was convinced that she'd just be giving this omnipotent opponent ideas at this rate.

"If she can grant life to something that never had life in the first place, there's absolutely nothing stopping her from giving back life to something that once held it. She can take away Yoshika, Viola."

That was simply not an option. Every ounce of her being wanted to fly back over there and kill the Librarian, not just once but a few times. She knew that it would be endlessly pointless, if she could even touch her surely she'd just come back. Seiga tried to collect herself, not wanting to be entirely open with Viola just yet, but as she slumped against the walls of the elevator it was obvious she was still concerned.

"I understand that...Yoshika is a tool, ultimately, something that I must use to my own advantage. Such is a jiangshi's lot. However, she is dear to me in an odd way. Even if I know that she must depart some day, I want it to be on my terms. Not on the terms of some...self-righteous...prick." It was painful to use that word in any kind of setting, let alone here, but just thinking about this made Seiga angry.

"I don't take kindly to people who steal from me. I'm not going to let someone steal my tool from me."

Yoshika, Torpedo Turret, May Seiga Live Ten Thousand Years!
"Don't worry, I don't need luck. I know this will work." She gave a thumbs up to the departing duo as they departed, smiling as they left her inside with an armed torpedo, a giant monster advancing towards them, and and endless amount of bravado filling the room.

Looking through the glass in the cockpit, Yoshika could see the monster slowly fill her entire view as it got ever closer. There was a tinge of doubt in her mind, just the slightest, because unlike last time she was really sure she was gonna die in this attempt. She wasn't fettered though, she knew that this is what Seiga wanted. If she could take down this incredible youkai, which nobody else in this entire city could, she would earn the undying admiration of her master.

Heck, maybe Seiga would be surprised she did this. That would be the greatest thing, wouldn't it?

As soon as it looked like the Leviathan would be in range, and by that I mean right up in her face, Yoshika slammed the torpedo hard into the ammo supply.

Sophie finished sliding in the next torpedo while Curly and Yoshika argued behind her. When she turned to look at the jiangshi, she was visibly distraught at the notion of her detonating the remaining torpedoes while they were still inside the turret control area. Nonexistence of death in this City notwithstanding, the concept still shook her to the core... as did the fact that while Yoshika wouldn't feel any pain, she would.

Despite Yoshika and Seiga's not-so-stellar initial encounter with her, Sophie's thoughts almost screamed at her to stay, to aid in the destruction of a much greater, near-mindless threat. In the end, however, her fear - something she had encountered rarely in the past - won out. She gave the jiangshi a clearly sad, guilty look, before following Curly out the turret door as the gynoid sealed it, and she ran, her morose expression unchanging.

Leviathan battle

It was unclear if Rex's shot had hit or not; probably not since the leviathan moved away pretty rapidly. Even if it had, it wouldn't have done anything to the machine.

Whatever part of the leviathan processed tactical information knew that the torpedoes could do at least some damage to it, so it tried to keep its large claw forward and angle its head away slightly. Unfortunately for it, with the eye on the side of the remaining large claw damaged, that made it misjudge some distances, and when it swung the claw down to hit the turret structure it overshot. In the tunnel where Curly and Sophie were running, with a great metal crashing the tunnel behind them was completely torn away, and the part they were in angled downward with much groaning of metal. Now they had to move uphill, in a tunnel that was starting to break apart and very rapidly fill with water.

As its claw missed, the leviathan angled its head back around to get a clearer picture of what happened, its momentum bringing its face right up into the turret structure.

Which then exploded magnificently.

Most of the torpedoes went off nearly simultaneously, making one large blast that blew into the leviathan's head like a big explosive charge into a cliff. The leviathan flailed and writhed a bit as scattered torpedoes continued to explode, a few hitting into the already sizable crater in its back and tearing that up even more; one side of it broke through entirely, and as the leviathan began to sink its own weight put too much strain on the remaining area. There was a great rumbling as large pieces of stone snapped in two and broke apart, until finally the tail section of the leviathan completely disconnected. The two halves of the leviathan drifted down into the absolute darkness of the abyss that was not lit by any of the underwater tunnels. Its eyes were already gone, and stray sparks of whatever power source fueled it arced between broken pieces, but that faded and stopped in time as well.

The leviathan was finally defeated.

Up on the surface

"What is an internal combustion engine?" Thomas asked, then cringed and covered his ears as the motor started and blew air and rain alike into the sail and onto Thomas, whose cloak thankfully still remained waterproof. "HOW WOULD I KNOW HOW TO-" the young wizard paused his yelling to be heard suddenly as he glanced over the side of the boat, hearing the muffled but still nevertheless quite significant explosion(s) happening down beneath them. From up here, the leviathan's whole silhouette was briefly illuminated by the intense glow right around its face, which dimmed away afterwards leaving some doubt as to what had happened.

"DID IT JUST USE ITS WEAPON AGAIN?!" Thomas yelled, confused.

Militia structure

"You don't know how to write? Well, I guess you'll just have to tell me tomorrow, as I expected otherwise... I am sorry to hear that though. Don't worry about losing your food, we have plenty here" Wells said to Cole, then glanced at Nails. "I'm glad to know you were taking proper care of him already" the soldier commented.

"Sir, it's not just that; apparently this guy's rather new to eating and drinking, and doesn't understand that he has to do both every day. I can only guess he didn't have to back home, but that doesn't apply here? I'm not clear on that- but the point is it's been days since he's done either. Pretty much all of his friends are part of the heroes, so..." Nails trailed off, letting Wells put two and two together.

Which he did quickly, judging by his eyes going just a little wider and his eyebrows going up a little. "Oh. Well see to it he does not die malnourished in our care" Wells ordered him simply, before walking off to oversee some more of the construction.

"Yeah, definitely" Nails responded, with a slightly worried tone, then grabbed Cole's arm and just about dragged him over to one corner of the room that had apparently been set aside for rations. There was a few plastic bags filled with stuff from the large grocery store that some militia members had made stops at earlier in the day, gathered next to a simple outdoor style table with folding chairs. "Come on, you've gotta have something" the militia member told Cole, starting to rifle through the bags.

Smashed tunnel - Kaboom

The great stone claw cleaving tearing through the tunnels was a bit more frightening to see in person than Curly had imagined, in an instant a wall of water poured in and the tunnel was suddenly pointed at an angle toward the depths of the sea. The robot stumbled at the sudden shifting but regained her footing and grabbed Sophie around her middle as the water struck, the girl wouldn't have to hold her breath long once curly activeted her booster and rocketed both of them up through the tunnel and back onto dry and stable footing.

Once safely out of harms way for the moment Curly set the violet haired girl down and turned to watch the fireworks through a window and the opening left in the broken and submerged portion of the tunnels as the fireworks continued from secondary torpedo explosions and the leviathan started to fall to pieces and sink. "Haha, it worked!" she shouted cheerfully and threw up a fist in triumph and tuned to channel 10 to transmit "Ben and City Knights, this is Curly, did you see that? The monster's dead!" she paused just a moment before internally shifting channels again "Militia, you don't have to worry about that lobster tearing up the city anymore!" she declared happily, but remembering the weight of the cost of victory calmed her down to a more neutral tone "We had to blow up a whole stack of torpedoes to do it though, Yoshika stayed in the turret room to get as close as possible to that thing before setting off the explosion... But her idea worked" Curly turned to Sophie as she ceased transmitting "You okay, Sophie?"

Cole didn't have a lot more to add, just listening quietly to the discussion going on between the other two, starting to rock himself back and forth on his heels a little. He seemed to grimace a little at the end of the conversation, before Wells left, and Nails was pulling him along towards the table and chairs off to the side. He just stood quietly, watching the other man looking through the bags, before speaking softly.

"...are you only being nice to me because you're afraid of the others hurting you if you aren't?"

Library

Sans said he was fine, barring a nightmare or two. Seriously, he needs a shrink if he’s having issues. Then again, the man upstairs might find that boring. Doesn’t drama happen best when people have a form of psychosis?

Lune chose not to comment on this issue and nodded. Feeling bored, Lune decided to check up on the current situation in the City with her modified cell phone and heard the good news. Although Lune would love to yell about this to Sans and Caro, they were still in a library. Librarians hate noise the most. After all, there was a thing where Karkat was kicked out for causing a ruckus.

JamesShields Since: Dec, 2013

Library - Night Terrors

So apparently Lune had remained outside this entire time. It was kinda odd but she decided to not ask further about it.

Sans revealed that he had a nightmate earlier and said that he probably wouldn't be able to sleep again tonight. She guessed that it probably had to do either with what had happened in his world or with something that had happened here in the city, probably something to do with that daemon. She wished she could do something to help but she didn't know what. Sans was presumably an adult, so the kind of things that would have helped a child like her in such a situation wouldn't do.

She recalled having a lot of really awful nightmares in the past, particularly before Fate came along. She still had those kinds of dreams sometimes but it wasn't nearly as often. And now, when she didn't, there would be people there for her when she was shaken up by it.

Usually, at times when Fate was there at night, like in the early days before she ended up in the reserve, and she had one of those, if she hadn't already woke from it, she would do it and comfort her.

Something like that wouldn't work with Sans if he was haivng one either. Apparently, he had been having a nightmare while the attack on the library was going on and he still hadn't woke up until that explosion had happened, so there was not much of a chance of her alone being able to wake him up at night.

So for now, she settled for giving him a sympathetic smile and saying, "That sounds awful. But maybe it won't happen again?"

Despite what Sans had said before about her worrying too much, she couldn't think what about was must going on elsewhere, particularly in regards to that stony giant. What Ben and the others suceeded against it? Was everyone OK?

She still had her headset on, so she pulled her phone out and turned the walkie-talkie app and turned it to the C Ity Knights channel. She was immediately glad she had done so, for she then heard Curly informing them that the boss had been defeated.

"Roger that, Curly. That's definitely good news," she quickly responded. She had to wonder about the channel being otherwise silent. Lune there with them of course and she didn't know if she had a walkie-talkie with her or a headset, so it was likely that she hadn't heard. She didn't know where Eve was or if she had rejoined the battle. But it was definitely strange to not hear back from Ben, so presumably had been fighting the boss. Now it was down, what was to keep him from responding. Maybe he would soon enough. She would remained tuned to the channel to see what would happen.

Since she didn't know if Lune had heard and since Sans didn't have his walkie-talkie out and obviously didn't have a headset on, she decided that it was best to inform them of the exciting news.

She clicked a button on the app so she wouldn't be heard on the channel, since what she was about to say was unnecesaary anyway, since anyelse on it had already heard about it, before flashing her friends a bright grin and excitedly said, "Hey, guess what!? I just heard on the radio that stone giant got finally defeated! And that also means the challenge got completed and we earned ourselves a prison. So we can finally non-lethally and permanently take Ruckus and people like them out of commission."

Library - some good news

So it looked like the others did manage to beat the challenge while he was chilling in the library, that was good to hear and Caro certainly seemed very happy about it. The reward didn't sound particularly interesting, after all, the Ruckus could just kill themselves in their cells and get out no problem, so there wasn't much of a point to it. Still, better not to ruin their fun.

"sounds good," said Sans, his expression not really changing all that much and he didn't sound particularly excited either.

He wondered if they went with his idea of if they tried something else, whatever it was, it definitely worked. Now the others could rest easy and get ready for the next day. Sans also did notice that Caro was a little concerned with his nightmares, thinking about it, she probably would've had her fair share of nightmares while she was still known as "that one girl who can destroy everything".

"by the way, don't worry about me, i'm used to having nightmares all the time. i've had a few while staying here too, this one was just particularly nasty." He shrugged, but then he paused, looking a little hesitant to say something, until he spoke up not too long afterwards. "and to be honest, even though i said you worry too much, i guess the reason this nightmare happened was because i was really worried about you."

Library, Just Missing the Battle

Plague Knight eventually found a way to steer the boat, the mast having a long perpendicular pole to spin the mast back and forth. He managed to steady the boat a bit, and headed towards where they last saw the beast. The alchemist saw the sudden flash of light deep underwater as well.

"IT COULD JUST A WELL MEAN SOMETHING OF GREAT MAGNITUDE EXPLODED IN ITS FACE," Plague Knight answered Thomas, yelling over the motor. "WHATEVER HAPPENED, WE HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO KNOW OURSELVES. WE SHOULD HEAD BACK TO CONFIRM." The knight then turned the boat around back towards the library. Rex would be able see them from the air.

Viola I Tunnels(Elevator) I The Author

"... You're quite an odd person, you know that?" That was what I first asked of her, seeing her complete distress at the potential of losing Yoshika permanently. I thought that she's simply just another servant and tool for her, albeit her favorite one thus far, but I had not realized just how much deep and complicated their master-servant relation may be. The fact that she's more worried of that than herself didn't escape my notice, either.

Ah, so I guess Yoshika must be the one that she cares for and loves, then. Like the ones she told me during her explanation of a hermit's life.

"If there is to be any solace to be had in this," I began. "Is that she's not the one in charge. Yes, she's quite impossibly powerful in her own rights, just as you said, but ultimately, she has to act as a neutral arbitrator and answer and obey to the whims of her own boss: The creator, writer and instigator of this entire scenario being played out." There was no telling on how omnipotent this Writer actually is, but he's definitely far more capable than the Librarian.

"If you could just appeal to him and gain his personal protection and favor, then I'm positively sure not even Miss Tairee could touch you... or anything that you own. And the only known way to contact him is through the suggestion box in the library," I thought to myself for a moment. "In fact, now that we talked about this, that's the first thing I'm going to do once we return. I have a bad feeling from the librarian myself and I think that it's better to be safe than sorry, don't you agree?~"

"It's a slim chance, and who knows if we're able to compromise with the Writer at all. But a chance at something is still better than nothing, yes?~" I smiled and said in a carefree tone, contrasting my far gloomier and serious friend.

Did he make it? John, diving further down, looked for Ben. Where was he? John was exhausted from the fight. Landing near a building and going inside it, he eventually found Ben and Eve.

John then went to where they were. Ben was fast asleep. He decided against waking him up and talked to Eve instead. "eve! did our plan work?"

Yoshika, Out On The Sea, Great Days
The sound of the ocean at night was tranquil, and monotonous. With the ever present squawking of the odd birds, the constant lapping of the sea against this wooden platform, the soft wind blowing across the ocean, and the distant noise of passing motorboats, it was like any normal ocean. Entirely calm. This stopped soon enough.

There was a voice, small at first, and it called over the sound of everything else. It sounded something like this.

"yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSS!"

Our good friend Yoshika was dancing in the moonlight with joy on some forlorn spit of wooden planks and nails, because she TOTALLY DID IT! There was no way to check, but this time she was REALLY sure she killed that thing! For a second there she thought she might somehow mess up whacking a torpedo, but she managed to pull off their plan with flying colors!

She yelled loud enough that her boss could hear, from wherever she may be, "SEIGA! I DID IT!" Throwing herself on her back, she was practically too overjoyed to move, or do anything. The sole reason she had asked for this day was complete, and she was the one who did it! Not anybody else, but her! The strength of the jiangshi fighters is forever proven in the eyes of the City!

...Hold on, she had one more thing that she wanted to do today. Getting up and walking to the edge of the platform, she fell forward unceremoniously and floated there for a bit, limbs hanging below her and looking like the floundering corpse she is. Not like she could see much more than the faintlights of structures below, and she was getting uselessly soaked, but she was sure Seiga would allow her this one indulgence.

Seiga, The Elevator, To The Top
Oh, she was odd for wanting to protect her own like this, then? Seiga didn't bother hiding her consternation with that for a moment, but she breathed deep and collected herself further. "I'm sure that I can endure whatever pain she puts me through. You don't survive as long as I have by being weak-willed," she said, much calmer. "It's simply that there's precedence for her doing this, unlike our hypothetical punishments. I work best based off of what I know, not what I predict."

Seiga felt there was a slight hole in her argument. "I can't imagine, if our kidnapper didn't want it to happen, it wouldn't have allowed her to even consider it in the first place. I can imagine such drama being good writing material...but you are ultimately right." She nodded as she started hovering in midair, wanting to give her legs a little rest. "It can't hurt, unless the Librarian intercepts our message, but I'm sure we can manage it."

*ding*

Still a little on-edge, Seiga almost did something you could call "jumped" when the Elevator signified that they had arrived at their destination. Looking out and around, the nature of the city hadn't changed since they left, and the Library was no longer in sight. "We've got some ways to fly to get there, it seems. Hopefully Yoshika's already been convinced to give up, and we'll meet her there." She offered her arms to Viola, and said, "Are you ready?"

Viola I Surface (Elevator) I Back Again

... It looks like I may have offended Seiga, but I'm not sure why. It's true, isn't it? Nevertheless, I noted to myself that any topic regarding her servant should be handled with care. Or used to my advantage, whichever the case.

Upon reaching the surface, her hand offered her hand to me, to fly us up towards the library. There's nothing left to it, then. I didn't exactly imagine that our little adventure would end on like this, but oh well.

"Yep," I answered her, taking her up on her offer.

Militia structure

"What? Of course not" Nails said, placing one bag on the small table that was mostly filled with fruits, and a water bottle from another bag. "Remember what I told you? About the common courtesy? You're not giving me a reason to be mean, so I'm not" the militia member continued, grabbing another water bottle for himself and taking a swig after twisting the lid open. Then he sat down and let out a yawn, eyes blinking wearily.

"... You know, for someone who reads minds, you seem to be awfully confused by pretty normal people things... Well, except I guess they're not normal in your world so you have some excuse" Nails muttered, placing one arm up on the table to rest his head on. "Yeah I'm scared of your friends but that doesn't change this. They're probably already going to be mad and jumping to their own conclusions just from hearing that I arrested you; I'm already risking a conflict with someone outside my weight class" the militia member explained.

After another short pause, he glanced up at Cole. "Now come on, eat! Drink! Or we'll have to track you down and arrest you again after you come back to life" Nails told Cole in a joking tone.

"Aw sweet, that's great news!" Phil's voice responded to Curly. There was a short pause, and then he added, "... Who's Yoshika?"

Outside the Library -> Ocean — Cheerful Corpse

A few seconds after the Leviathan went underwater, Rex heard a muffled explosion, several in fact. Something had happened down there and it was so big it had briefly illuminated the Leviathan's whole body. Plague Knight and another kid that had been in the library discussed in a boat what may have happened down there. Rex only heard the last part, where the knight proposed that something had exploded on the Leviathan's face.

"I'm not sure what happened but I'm going to check"

Rex jumped into the water to check what was going on. He created his fists which helped him sink faster than normal and he got a good view of the explosion's aftermath. Well, good is a figure of speech because he could hardly see anything without a light souce. So, he changed to his nunchucks (with glow in the dark action!) and saw two big chunks of rock floating aimlessly in the emptiness of the ocean.

Something had actually taken down the lobster but Rex didn't have much time to figure out what had actually done the trick since he still needed to breath. He swam back up anxious to tell the rest that they had completed the challenge.

"Hey, guys, we actually won!"

But no one answered. He checked his sorroundings, no one was there anymore.

"Guys? Oh, come on" The city had done its magic and now Rex was alone in the middle of the ocean talking to himself "I hate this city"

Off in the distance, Rex heard an excited girl yelling to someone named Seiga (had he actually met someone by that name? He couldn't remember) that she had done something. Rex flew to the source of the sound, which was just a few meters away. Turns out the girl he had seen fighting those zombies two days ago was laying on the docks. She got up and let herself drop in the water, barely floating but she didn't seem to care.

"...Are you okay?"

Cole considered that response for a bit, hesitantly sitting in a chair next to Nails, looking at the bag of food rather warily. He reached inside, taking out a green apple and the water bottle, grimacing at the crinkling of the plastic bottle. "I don't think they'll be very angry," he said softly. "They will likely think it is my doing. Which...it is. I...I think they would just...blame me."

He set the bottle on the table, letting out a shaky sigh. "Some of them may be...happy to have me here, not...not b-bothering them. They think I am...weird, as you said before. I don't blame them if they..."

Cole shook his head slowly, picking up the apple and studying it. "My friend Blackwall back home says I'll understand better when I am not a boy anymore. I...don't know what he means. Older, perhaps? It...it is not as though I am inexperienced."

That being said, Cole looked over to Nails, showing him the apple. "Do I...how do I do this? Bite into it whole? Varric would always cut his apart, and The Iron Bull mashed them into a sort of pudding. What do you do?"

Once on relatively drier footing, Sophie shook her head in a mostly futile attempt to get rid of some of the water from her hair. She turned around and looked down at the wreckage of the tunnel behind them, her face still carrying that same saddened look as before. "...I wish we didn't have to leave her like that," she muttered plainly, not really answering Curly's question.

Soon, she noticed the cracks in the tunnel walls still slowly inching across towards the tunnel section they were on. "...We should leave this area. It's most likely unstable from the damage."

Ara Haan (Library) - Pointlessly Late Preparations

"Oh, I'm okay," Ara replied to Jack with a quick nod. "I'm just preparing myself. That monster is still out there, and it'll keep destroying anything it finds unless someone stops it."

Little did we know that it had already been stopped.

It did not take her long to finish, and soon she was as ready to fight as she would be. She was still completely barefoot and wearing only her dress, but perhaps it was for the best. In fact, the only reason why she was not taking off her dress and venturing off in her notoriously revealing bikini was precisely because it was a notoriously revealing bikini and she did not feel entirely comfortable with it.

"Okay, I think I'm ready..." she stated, before her eyes focused on Jack's again. "What will you do, Mist-"

'It is over.'

'...huh?'

'The battle ended moments ago. At least according to the child over there.'

"...nevermind," she finally muttered with a mix of disappointment and relief. "Apparently it's already over."

Seiga, The Library, Check It
The flight back to the library wasn't nearly as wondrous as the first one. Aside from it now being night instead of a beautiful sunset, the atmosphere between them was tense as Seiga finally had something to worry about. Considering she was in danger of the same fate as Viola, why she was so hesitant to share her life was becoming clearer and clearer.

Arriving at the dock precisely when they needed to, and not a second later, they entered the library proper. Seiga did her best to avoid casting some rude glances in the direction of the librarian, which was made easier with atmosphere of the room and the general lack of said librarian. Quite a few people seemed relieved about something, which Seiga wanted to find out more about. An easy enough task!

Seeing a familiar woman from their brief underwater A.I. adventure, Seiga bowed to her and hurriedly asked "Ah, Ara, was it? It's nice to see that you're holding together well, but what's the event that's over? Is the monster dead?"

Yoshika, Oceans, Cheerful Indeed
Wow, someone else was here? Okay, well, better tell him the good news! "Glgighughib," she said, her mouth still underwater. It took her a few seconds to realize that the only people who can hear you underwater must also be underwater, so she should end her underwater adventure. Oh well, she had enough fun.

After evacuating her lungs in the only way she knew how, vomiting all of the water inside, Yoshika pulled herself out of the water only halfway, resting at the pier like a very unglamourous mermaid. Every part of her dripping wet with the odd exception of the paper on her forehead, which was still crisp and dry.

"Sorry for that, underwater is weird." Whoever this person was, she just about completely forgot his existence. He was sorta familiar, though. Like someone you see while shopping for groceries a few times, but you never actually know who they are. In any case, she said to him, "I just killed the giant rock lobster thing! I'm the strongest person in the city now, so of course I'm okay!"

Library - Night of the Tenth Day - Much to Do Remains

Fortunately for Zelda, evacuating was not necessary. In fact, it sounded like they managed to deal with the beast and claim their reward. Like several previous rewards she wasn't sure if it'd help her specifically, but so long as it benefited the city as a whole she wouldn't complain.

As for herself? For a day she never left the library, it sure felt like a lot happened. Not just because some giant monster wrecked it earlier, either; it'd certainly been a little chaotic on a more personal level. At least she had something to work towards now, even if it was going to be rather difficult. Hopefully circumstances wouldn't conspire to make it unreasonable to leave the library again.

On the other hand, now that there weren't any other pressing matters on her mind she was questioning her decisions. It would be nice to have some actual friends outside of Sans and Caro and prevent this whole jealousy thing from becoming an issue again, but Sans did have some good points. That, and the real reason she even had this thought at all was because of that letter. No doubt Sans and possibly Caro were going to ask about that eventually, and she still didn't know what she was going to tell them. At any rate, she wasn't one to be cynical. One way or another, she hoped it'd all work out.

For now, all she could do was get some sleep; she'd need it. Before too long, she proceeded to do just that.

Smashed tunnel - Heading for the surface

"She's this girl we met while looking for the turrets, though she called herself a "zombie". In any case, thanks for tip about the turrets, I don't think we could have beaten that thing without them"

Sophie clearly wasn't completely okay, her response made Curly feel a little guilty about her excitement that the stone beast was gone. But at least physically she appeared to be fine, if wet. [[red"Yeah, we should probably keep moving"]] Curly said, then turned to walk away from the tunnel and to drier, and safer ground. it would have been better if we had time to rig a bomb or something instead... But if she was telling the truth, then it couldn't have hurt, right? And she'll be back soon enough"

Boardwalk restaurant

Garrett paced around nervously, staying near the entrance to the underground in the event that he'd have to suddenly evacuate. He kept looking out the windows, but there was no trace of the monster.

Until, that is, an explosion boomed in the distance, somewhere over the horizon apparently. The restaurant's windows quaked in their frames with an audible clink.

"What was that?," someone asked.

"It must be attacking again!," a woman yelled hysterically.

Garrett said nothing and just waited apprehensively.

But no other sound came, and nothing could be seen in the direction where the boom originated. A while later Garrett got out his phone and called Sans, who, he hoped, was still at the library and perhaps had a better view. "This is Garrett speaking. Any of you heard this explosion just now? Can any of you see the monster?"

Random pier — Superpowerful girls? What is this, Gensokyo?

Rex's question was answered first by unintelligible sounds, thanks to Yoshika not realizing she was speaking underwater, and then the girl puking all the water from her lungs right before coming out of the water.

"Did you just vomit?"

Yoshika explained that she had taken down the Leviathan, which made her the strongest person in the city. Rex wasn't sure if she was telling the truth but he had seen the lobster's broken body just a few seconds ago. Someone had to have done the deed.

"That's not how it works but whatever. So, how did you do kill it?"
