CoLC crossover RP, main thread

"Now there's another one?" Fastanook asked rhetorically and in an annoyed tone, firing his phaser at Van Kleiss a couple times before making a quick and sudden dash over to Lewis and Makoto. "The librarian can heal her up in seconds, if we just get her inside, so MOVE!" the gremlin insisted in a very firm tone, putting his phaser away and doing his best to push Makoto in the direction of the revolving door.

Silanea kept moving in quickly, going at an angle to move for flanking Van Kleiss. "I will try, but it's going to be difficult if I can't use my magic!" Silanea called back at Rex, keeping her ethereal shield up defensively and throwing another ethereal blade at Van Kleiss. Whether he was actually in the grenade's radius or not, the effect was about to end momentarily.

"Generally children should be doing their best to get away from dangerous situations, rather than consider taking up a weapon. Eve is an exception that proves the rule; if children normally got into combat as part of normal life in her universe, then why would they put so much effort into making her into a living weapon?" Miss Tairee explained in response to Cole, shaking her head.

The man had only just about gotten back up, and was looking at the door as if considering shutting it or just going straight for a hiding place when XLR8 came over and picked him up. Though surprised, under the circumstances the man put up no objections.

Zero, Solas's Out, But...

"I'd like to give her some time to recover." Zero shrugged in response to Rean's words. Caboose was out, at least - that idiot seemed to be blessed with precognition of sorts. Or maybe it was always the dumbass that was always perceptive. Unfortunately, he was out in a jiffy, so perhaps it was just something Zero would have to contend with.

She held back a snarl as bullets started flying, swaying to the side to avoid getting swiss cheesed - just in time for Rean to catch her and try to dissuade her again. "Aw. Aren't you a sweetheart." Fortunately, he left to try and help. She watched Van Kleiss stir up trouble as the others tried their best to haul Makoto over to the library. "Here."

"Let me help." She swung the dragonbone blade from below, aiming to carve into both Fastanook's arms and Makoto's anything. Nothing was as satisfying as a twofer.

"Is there really nothing that can be done...?" The bluenette asked. Was Miss Tairee really unable to bring Louie back? (at least until the day ended)

Gon

Gon made it safely inside and set the child down.

"Better stay here for a bit. It's too dangerous. Understand?"

The child nodded.

Chaoz

"Shit!"

Chaoz saw that the blade was coming for him.

He made a mad dash for the nearest piece of cover that he can use.

The rival assassin used some of the metallic circular benches for cover when he got prone.

I propped Makoto up with one arm as she flopped weakly out of the ice, tuning out the elf dying two feet away. "Yeah that was the idea," I commented at Fastanook, who seemed to be expecting her to walk inside on her own power while barely conscious, and was about to just scoop her up and carry her when Flower returned with a sword and a sociopathic streak.

Feeling a burst of adrenaline, I swung around to try and parry it with my bat, intending to try and kick her away if it worked. "Is it a little late to say I kinda expected this, uh...what was your name?" I turned very slightly to Rean and the furball. "Hey, y'all seem like you'd be better equipped for this, can we trade off?"

"You always have a new trick up your sleeve, Rex. It would be admirable if it wasn't so irritating"

"The feeling is mutual. Maybe just the last part"

Even with his new shield, Rex couldn't stop the simple laws of physics pushing him with every punch. Next time he would have to create a better anchoring system. If there even was a next time, of course. Van Kleiss was definitely stronger than he remembered. In fact, Rex was pretty sure he should have lost his powers after getting resurrected but he had long stopped trying to make sense out of this crazy city. If anything, at least it didn't look like he could create EVOs which would just be more problems to deal with. And there was finally backup willing to help out against him, even if it looked like Silanea was still affected by that anti-magic grenade somewhat.

"It's the thought that counts" Rex said, struggling to keep up with the more punches his shield was receiving. It hadn't been built to stop something so massive and with that kind of strength. He really should have grabbed more energy drinks while he still had the chance.

Van Kleiss didn't even look like he was putting much effort in the fight. He ignored the phaser shots by making plants bend to his will and protect him. Watching Rex squirm was probably good enough for him right now. Once Silanea attacked him and managed to strike his face with one of her blades, though, his wish to end someone's life came back from its short break. The cut slowly regenerated and Van Kleiss stopped pushing Rex to his limit. Rose coming out of nowhere and trying to stop the efforts to save Makoto's life probably helped him focus entirely on the lamia.

"So be it" he said to himself, before stretching his arm in Silanea's direction—his claws ready to strike—all the while making the ground surrounding her liquefy and slowly turn into mud.

Now that he had some breathing room, Rex took a few seconds to sigh. It wasn't fun to see his friends in danger and his nemesis attacking him with powers he shouldn't have in a place he should have no access to. And Rose trying to kill his girlfriend was pretty bad too. Rex, with some difficulty, ran up to her and built his giant sword. The metal was more fragile than normal but acting as a distraction was good enough.

"Just for the record, you are not that hot" he turned to the group trying to get to the library "Just go, I've got this"

Outside Library

Everything was starting to go numb, which was probably a bad thing, but Makoto couldn't bring herself to feel worried about it. At least she didn't think she was still stuck on the ice wall. Someone or something shoved her, and then Lewis tried to support her weight. With a weak grunt, she attempted to help him out, but her legs weren't putting in much effort. She could hear Rose saying something about help, and then her half open eyes caught movement and a loud sound. She spotted a blur that matched Rex's colors and assumed that meant he was okay for now.

"Sorry..." she said under her breath, once again trying to not put as much dead weight on Lewis. She could tell that her Persona was back, but she was in no condition to call on it. She was pretty sure the Library was still right in front of them though. They just had to keep moving towards it.

His ears turning her way before she got right up to them, Fastanook already knew of Zero approaching in time to look and see her attack coming before it was too late. He made a sudden dash back, baring his teeth angrily. "Can't we have one problem at a time?!" Fastanook asked, using his phaser to fire a couple shots just past Lewis at Zero.

With all the phaser firing over the last little while and the other problems around the immediate vicinity of the library currently dealt with, the militia members aboard the Thunder Child were turning their attention towards the situation. This time, with one of their own involved, they already knew that at least the person that Fastanook was attacking was not on the good side. They also knew Rex, and Silanea, which made Zero even more of an obvious target, as well as Van Kleiss. A couple of militia members with better aim took careful phaser shots at Zero's back, trying to minimize their chances of accidentally hitting anyone else in the fight.

Silanea meanwhile glanced briefly at the ground turning to mud; she sunk a little into it, but with the weight distribution of her tail she wasn't in any immediate danger from it. It made her a bit less mobile, but with her plan of getting Van Kleiss' attention a success, she wasn't planning on moving. With some concentration, her ethereal shield expanded, keeping her safe from direct attacks as she kept it held towards Van Kleiss. With her other arm, she formed another ethereal blade in preparation to attack, but then there was the sound of a cannon shot from above. The militia members had turned one of the Thunder Child's deck guns about, and with Van Kleiss not standing close to anyone else- except Silanea who had an obvious shield up- he had just become a prime target. A meteor-like flaming boulder of a projectile that would explode on impact went screaming down right for the nanite-infused madman.

"... I could fix up his wounds and clothes, so at least he wouldn't be so unsettling to look at" the Miss Tairee copy said to Two after a brief thought, starting to type on her holographic screen. Ace squawked at her angrily again. "No, he won't be permanently dead. If the day ends or you randomly get sent home before you find his opponent, he'll be brought back to life in the same condition he was brought to the city in" the duplicate librarian explained to the pokemon in response, as Louie's body blurred, and his clothes and wounds were cleaned up. As the Miss Tairee copy had said though, he was still just as dead.

The pokemon were collectively silent, then Goldeneye floated forward slightly and hummed. "No, I can't tell you who the opponent is; only that they're a copy of someone who is also from your universe. Given how your universe operates, I would assume it to be someone who has their own pokemon to battle with; or just is a pokemon. That should narrow down the suspects quite easily in this place" the Miss Tairee copy answered.

After asking for answers and getting none, Genji decided to go to the Library to see what was all the death and mayhem going on all about. Entering he saw Two talking to a Tairee along with the little monster that belonged to that kid, Louie, wonder how he is doing.

"Hello Two, Tairee. Can you please explain what is happening today?"

Cole didn't really answer Miss Tairee, still just watching the battle outside. He winced as Solas was shot and fell to the ground outside, shaking his head a little, but looked on as it seemed as though more of the evil people were coming to join the fight. And what Solas had done to Makoto...

"...we need to help her. Arcade, you're a doctor, do you think you can do something? Miss Tairee, can you give us something, that can help Makoto to not die?"

The conversation about Cole possibly learning to fight was quickly put on hold as Solas finally died and Makoto ended up badly injured. Arcade blinked a few times in surprise.

"Well, a few stimpaks and she'd probably be fine," he said, "but I'm pretty sure she can just heal her if she gets inside."

Trickster || Streets—vs Ben

After the frogbeasts exploded, the Trickster stepped forward and tried to pin Ben to the ground. However, he underestimated XLR8's speed, as the alien managed to slip away—even tossing in a last-minute taunt.

"He escapes us! Get him!", the Trickster hissed towards Hades, thinking about the god's teleportation ability.

"Alright, y'know what?" Rick helped Makoto steady herself with one free hand, snapping off a few wild shots at Van Kleiss as he moved towards the revolving door. "I don't want you guys to think that, y'know, this is some deep moving revelation about my true character or something, I just *uurp* don't want to get yelled at if you die on my watch... and also, y'know, evil people on the loose, racking up bodycounts..."

So Zero was a nemesis after all. Rean sighed, stuffing his ARCUS back in its pouch. He'd honestly hoped she actually wanted to make things better with Two, but that wasn't the case. Still, Makoto needed to get away. So he ran next to Rex and readied his own sword.

"Today's theme is that every resident of the city has a copy of an opponent of theirs from their own universe put somewhere in the city. So long as someone's opponent is still around, the usual rules of death and coming back to life to not apply to them" the Miss Tairee copy explained to Genji, after a slight sigh. "Which is why Louie here is unfortunately demised" the duplicate librarian added, with a motion to the dead trainer.

Meanwhile, Miss Tairee looked to Cole and Arcade. "Yes, I could give you something to help, but Arcade is right. I can heal her instantaneously the moment she is inside, and I intend to. If you go out there now, you'll mainly just be putting yourself in harm's way" Miss Tairee said to them.

Outside Library

So, the egg died pretty easily. That made sense, since eggs were pretty fragile things. Caboose was proud of himself for making that connection. Unfortunately, the ice didn't disappear with him, so Makoto was still in trouble. Lewis, seeming a lot less sad than Caboose remembered him being in the past, was trying to help. And then Zero tried to help too! Wait...

The sim troopers eyes narrowed behind his visor. Unfortunately his brain took to long to put two and two and two together to do anything before Rose proved him totally right! "You know, I want to say I told you so Rean! So I'm saying that I told you so!" he yelled out, not seeming to spot the urgency of the situation.

Still, Makoto was a friend and other friends were also helping against the flower girl, so he also wanted to help. With his stolen shield held up in front of him in one arm and Freckles in the other, he charged towards the evil intoner. A salvo of bullets flew forth towards Zero, Freckles helpfully preventing them from being aimed towards the nearby friendlies. If the soldier managed to close the distance successfully, he'd attempt a shield bash much like the one he did earlier... accept instead of the flat face of the shield he'd try slamming the edge right into her.

Hades really wasn't expecting XLR 8 to be this fast and had been watching him very closely throughout the fight. And not only XLR 8 had managed to dodge his attacks in rapid succession. He then proceeded to taunt them before speeding off in the other direction towards the library, the Trickster then suggested that they should both go after him, Hades just held out a finger and then said: "No, no, no let him go. If we try and go after him it'll be pointless trying to catch him anyway. We've both seen how fast he can go so even if I get in front of me, he'll outrun me anyway."

Hades was now in deep thought, he was now working his dark mind on what to do with Ben."If he knows Wonder Boy, he's probably gonna go warn him about me and then he's gonna go looking for us. So we need to draw them away from each other." He smiled darkly at the Trickster as he started explaining the plan to him in detail.

XLR8 raised his visor as he looked back at Trickster and Hades, blowing them a raspberry before pulling his visor back down and looking forward again. He zipped over to the nearest door of the library, entering the door and moving quickly into the building up to the central desk with Miss Tairee.

"Miss Tairee!" he exclaimed. "This dude's hurt! Can you heal him up?" he asked, laying him on a nearby couch. As he did so, the Omnitrix began to flash red and beep loudly before filling the room with red light as Ben reverted to his human form.

"And... ugh..." Ben muttered, wincing and rubbing his head. "I took a few hits back there as well, and geez, it stings..."

He looked around, raising his eyebrows as he saw Hercules, and ran up to the hero.

"Hercules!" he shouted. "I saw Hades! At least I think he was your Hades. Big and blue and toothy with flaming hair? Anyway! He was with this ugly goat dude and they jumped me as I was rescuing this innocent bystander from this bad guy!"

Cole grimaced at Miss Tairee's words, looking back at Arcade, then letting out a soft sigh, just looking back out at the battle. "...so it isn't safer for Arcade to go out there at all, then. Whoever the writer put here to fight you might still be alive, and you could die and...stay dead. ...I guess I'm...all right, there, now, but..."

He turned his head when Ben arrived, but for once Cole didn't react in his usual bombastic fashion, just taking in what Ben was saying with some chagrin. "...everything will be okay tomorrow, though, right, Miss Tairee? People won't stay dead if their enemy isn't stopped today, right?" he asked in a low voice.

"Incoming!" Rick shouldered his way through the revolving door with his free shoulder and helped maneuver Makoto to the nearest table, shoving some errant books off with his free hand before shaking the blood off as he stretched and popped his other shoulder. "Alright, we got a wounded combatant here, Tairee, any chance of- *urp* of you wiggling your nose and spreading a little tenth-dimensional magic over our way?"

Library Lobby

It took until he was already pushing her past the revolving doors for Makoto to notice that Rick was helping her get away. That was...strangely nice of him. Not that she thought he was a completely unforgivable person before, but she did appreciate the effort. As soon as she got to the table, she used it to pull herself into a chair and slumped over. She was definitely still bleeding out from the shoulder, arm, and leg puncture wounds, but at least now she wasn't in immediate danger of being finished off.

"T-thanks," she mumbled, fighting to stay completely awake. Her breathing was shallow as she rested her head on the table, her eyes unfocused.

The Miss Tairee copy didn't really wait to be asked, and just immediately used the Terran healing beam on the man Ben had carried in, and then on Makoto. The man, breathing in relief now that his leg was healed up, glanced to who Ben was talking to. "Wow, Hercules as a non-cartoon too..." the man thought out loud, trailing off. After a moment, he looked a little embarrassed, and cleared his throat before adding, "um, yeah it was definitely your Hades."

Trickster || Streets

"A pity the creature has gotten away," the Trickster said, now calmed down. "He was clearly friends with your Hercules. Had we captured him, we could have used him as bait, or a bargaining chip..."

In response to Hades's suggestion, he raised an eyebrow and said, "Do explain your plan to me, Mr. Hades."

"Personally, I would suggest we capture a denizen of this City, then threaten to dismember them slowly and painfully unless Hercules agrees to face you in a one-on-one fight. If he is half the hero you claim him to be, he might fall for it."

Zero, Can Finally Unwind, Outside Library

"It's Zero. Sorry to have kept up the charade for so long. I was hoping I can gut one or two of you out of mind earlier." Zero shrugged, giving Lewis an incredulous look as his bat came swinging, swaying back from the attack. Unfortunately, her ploy to kill Makoto didn't work out, and now she had more people bearing down on her.

"But now I can finally unwind, and good fucking ri-" The first phaser shot plinked into her, causing her to scowl at Fastanook. "Do you mind?" The other idiots with weird guns apparently did, plinking at her from their huge spaceship. "Why don't you assholes come down here?!" She growled towards the Thunder Child, opting to block the next few shots with her blade. There were way too many enemies to pick a fight with here, and Van Kleiss seemed content to focus on the snake girl instead.

With Caboose gunning down for her, Zero did a sensible thing of using both Rean and Rex as meatshields, keeping herself behind the two. "Don't act like you weren't blushing earlier." She rolled her eye, watching Caboose approach with a shield bash - and this time merely batting the attack away with childish ease. It seemed the Intoner was holding back a lot earlier. "Can still make it a date, if you're up for some mortal fun." This time she came with an attack of her own, aiming for the sim trooper's visor with the tip of her blade - a brutal, fast attack meant to kill in a flash.

So Louie could not be brought back until the day was over? "I'm sorry, everyone. I let it happen." She looked down when talking to his Pokemon. Genji showed up - she hasn't seen him in a while - asking for info, but Miss Tairee was more than happy to provide. Then a harmed Makoto and Rick shuffled inside, the latter laying the former down on the table. Ben too showed up, carrying a civilian - all three were healed by the librarian.

Two approached slowly, opting to reach out for Makoto's hand and squeeze it gently. "Hey. Good to see you back. How... is the fight outside? I lost focus after Louie, well..." Cole and Arcade were there too, the former worried about the latter. "You can just stay here all day, just to be safe. No one can fight in the library, right?" She asked a little unsurely, looking up to Tairee. Knowing the Writer, he could very well do away with the Library midway through the day, just for "fun".

Library Lobby

The healing was fast enough for Makoto not to notice it immediately, but she woke up a little more as her breathing steadied. The mental shock of being stabbed multiple times was gone, and she forced herself to sit up. Two was already here, which was a small relief after the mess that was currently still outside.

"...I'm not entirely sure," Makoto said, glancing back through the windows. "Think that guy after Cole is dead, but now there's more of them around. And what about Louie-" She looked around and saw his limp body. Oh. "This is...really wrong." While she could choose to stay inside, that wasn't even an option in her mind. Makoto shook her head and stood up. "Sorry, but there's still things I have to do out there. I need to help Rex fight and then find my... sister before more people die." She looked out at the fight again. "And um...do you know her?" Makoto asked, pointing out Zero. "She called herself Rose. She kind of reminded me of you, but I guess she's also out to get us today."

"I already told you; nobody gives a wolver's fart!" Fastanook yelled at Zero, holding fire since other people were in his way; the militia members on the deck of the Thunder Child kept shooting at Zero's back though.

"I still will not allow them to fight inside here, yes" the Miss Tairee copy said to Two, while tapping away on the holographic screen.

Elsewhere in the lobby, she had a second copy of herself with another healing device appear near one of the other doorways, as a group of civilians and other militia members were entering, led by lieutenant Wells. "Get your ammunition and supplies quick; we're going right back out there" Wells said to the militia members, as the new Miss Tairee copy calmy healed up those who were hurt.

"Your men are having another fight just outside" the new Miss Tairee copy commented, pointing across the lobby and through the windows to the little battle outside. Wells looked out there and narrowed his eyes, and started to move across the lobby in a determined fashion.

There was a street with a view of the prison's front gates down at the end of it; a small gathering of various nemeses gathered there in the street, facing the prison gates. "You really think some of our targets are in there?" a rather large and imposing alien◊ asked, fingers tapping along the handle of his weapon in anticipation.

"I'm certain of it. The only question is which ones" another alien◊ responded, glancing at his circumstantial comrade. "I know mine would be drawn to use such a fortification to his advantage. Wouldn't yours?" the sanheili added.

"Hmph, well he is a coward, just like the rest of your species" the Jiralhanae retorted in an insulting manner.

Meanwhile, on the militia channel there was of course a number of call outs of situations happening, but anyone listening to the channel would hear Eight Four speak up into it. "Wells, I think we're about to have trouble at the prison..."
