A weird series so far. Painfully generic in places, but with some wit and white knight syndrome is just chuunibunism writ large, isn't it? Youtaro's dad looks more like his little brother and there are all sorts of Mysterious Hints dropped about. of course the little girl is going to be some sort of monster or all powerful being but you do wonder how lax the security is if she's supposed to be locked away with no friends if anybody can just wander in.

Not the worst anime series ever and remarkably free of fan service, but it feels like half the plot is only sketched in.

Not exactly, I mean Youtaro is actually a knight. It's just that all of Yoriko training got really ingrained into his brain.

Yeah, but none of the other knights go around all creepy hand kissing and such...

Yeah, that's the syndrome at work. It makes him act all stereotypical.

Wait, since when is hand kissing creepy?

[up] Since people stopped doing it, I guess? And Japan's pretty conservative so...

Ah, cultural differences strike again. In some places it would be considered merely "overly formal" or "old fashioned" at most, but certainly not creepy.

Hand kissing isn't that creepy perse, but it reeks of the fedora.

Episode 5 is another good one, although I am still a little confused about what sort of tone they are going for what with it going from comedy to people being impaled to comedy.

I am liking Maid Knight's Whip Lance and ninja girl turn out to be an interesting character in the end. Makio should stop bring home strays though.

Wow, the entire second half episode wouldn't have happened if they just let Yufeng kill that little shit. Seriously, am I supposed to be happy he got with away his shit again?

Also, this wouldn't have happened if Yoriko properly took care of him back when they fought, so her trying to look all cool now doesn't work.

Seriously, Gai and his shitty kids just cause problems for everyone. They should just kill them.

[up]It would also help if maid knight was less of a psycho and slightly faster in coming to the rescue of her charges, rather than coming in and escalating at the worst possible moment. She was there when Youtarou got the phone call after all.

Also, what exactly did ninja girl need to be punished for anyway? She was clearly a victim of ban while her actions here were self defence; over the top self defence but why should she be punished for something maid knight does herself moments later?

Yeah, Yoriko seems to just escalate the conflicts instead of trying to be helpful. She tried to murder Yufeng for what was clearly an accident caused by Youtaro himself, but was nowhere to be seen when Yuyan was holding Sae hostage.

Oh yeah, and Yuyan once again gets away without as much as a slap on the wrist. Man, I hate that little shit.

Episode 6 is a Hot Springs Episode but a more serious one than the unusual as Yufeng works through her issues while Youtarou and the normal girl work on their relationship somewhat. There was the usual comedy and fanservice of course as well as some a sweet ending. Probably one of the better episodes of the series so far.

You know, things would go a lot smoother if Yoriko didn't insist on being such a bitch. That's why old spinsters are the worst, the lash out their frustrations on everyone around.

Oh god, Sae, can't you cut it out with the pervert thing? It's seriously a race to the bottom with those girls.

Wait, why did the dress Youtaro in a maid costume, that came out of nowhere. Poor Youtaro, he dosen't deserve the crap they put him through.

A decent enough episode, but psycho maid is rapidly outstaying her welcome, what with the Love Hina levels of misplaced aggression towards the MC.

It's like always the wrong person gets blamed for shit.

And Youtaro is really getting abused by his own maid. How sad.

Well episode 7 sees things go serious again with the head knight wanting to get her hands on Youtaro's Lance. The parts with Makio were quite good and it looks like she will be discovering Knight Lancer's identity this arc.

This episode was all over the place. I had to check if I didn't miss any episodes because this new development came right out of nowhere. Like Youtaro is suddenly kidnapped by his own order? Couldn't they just order him to report back to island or something? The head knight is a suddenly a huge creep? What is even going om?

Oh god, also Yuyan is here. Hate that guy.

Makio drawing everyone as masked heroes was really cute.

Alice is stronger than I though, she disarmed Yufeng pretty eaisly.

Yoriko launches the most ineffective rescue mission I've ever seen. Sitting and waiting, great job.

Weird episode even by this show standards.

[up] Pretty sure the bath scene is an indication Yuyan isn't a guy.

Meh, either way, not a welcome sight.

I feel like this show lost a lot of its fun after a couple of episodes. Like any endearing traits anyone had is just more annoying than anything. Yufeng especially creeps me out with how... infantile she seems, treating a six-year-old like her mother? Was a sisterly relationship just too cliche to go for?

The main problems with the show are a) that it can't decide between being light and fluffy or wangsty, b) it has too many characters introduced too quickly so few of them have any depth and c) a lot of backstory seems missing. So you get an episode like this where things suddenly happen without explenation or build-up and you're supposed to care about characters who've barely been seen before, if at all.

What didn't help was the passivity of the characters once the kidnapping was over. Everbody just sat around to wait for the plot to catch up.

[up][up][up]That doesn't help at all. My hate is as strong as ever.

[up][up]Yeah that is weird. Or how Yoriko went from typical scary maid, to someone who would kill kids for accidents but is of no actual help when something happens.

[up]Yeah, way too many characters we know little about and way too little explanation and context. It's creates an chaotic plot where it's hard to get what's going on or care about it.

Episode 8 was mostly set-up for next week but it was quite amusing to see everyone don masks and a hero persona.

How long is this series going to be though as the preview said that it was going to be the climax next week?

[up] Climax doesn't necessarily mean ending of course; we haven't even had the obligatory onsen/beach episode yet.

But this was a better episode than most as there was finally some action to distract from the plot.

Edit: MAL says it's 12 episodes long.

I finally caught up the latest episode.

Well... this is retarded.

Youtaro is a useless whiny bitch. The Four Kings are assholes, the Chief is pedophile and all problems can be resolved by putting on a mask.

The only good moment of the episode was Yoriko going "I'm Rose Lancer.... problem?" I cracked up at that.

Also, weird how Youtaro father showed up all of once, dropped some cryptic foreshadowing and then disappeared from the plot completely. He must have realized that this show is stupid.
