• Name: Arlen Westlau

• Gender: male

• Age: 16

• Element: Smoke, which has the appearance of a dark cloud billowing, on the back of his left hand.

• Appearance: Arlen is a young man of rather average height - around 5'10'' - and with a rather muscular if slightly stocky in some places build, he has dark hair, icy blue eyes, and a slightly pale complexion. He mostly wears t-shirts with right-wing logos on them, jeans with a belt, and sneaker shoes. He sometimes wears a coat with a hood. Most students know Arlen as "Ser Frownsalot" due to the fact his temperament shows quite visibly. He often wears a black fingerless glove on his left hand.

• Personality: Arlen is a rather trouble-causing young man, though most likely not in an alluring kind of way - he's rather infamous for being rude, angry, and constantly unhappy, though there is the odd smile from him most likely once under a blue moon. He is an enthusiast of certain dangerous individuals, and most people who have roomed with him call the experience "distinctly uncomfortable", and his fellow students describe him as being a (seemingly) Stupid Evil The Bully as well as being a burgeoning Blood Knight. The only people Arlen's ever had for friends were people he knew before moving to the Academy - he's rather bitter about that. He's also got some very politically incorrect views going on, though he seems secular and non-religious. He does seem to be following a recent case going on, and wants to find out more about whoever is leaving those "reversed Light symbols" laying around.

• History: Arlen grew up in a very low income house, and though he won't say anything himself, his father - basically an older version of Arlen as he is now - is speculated to have beaten him. Arlen actually blames himself for this, saying "Past me was a bitch. When I showed dear old dad what's good for the goose is good for the gander...well, dad...totally left me alone." Westlau is one of the least well-liked students, and most everyone knows he's basically a spiteful bully...though once one of his victims fights back sufficiently hard, Arlen seems to quit picking on that person.

• Spells:
  • Myriad Smoke: controls and generates any different kind of smoke, including any formed by the burning of materials or naturally produced smoke.
  • Festigkeit Smoke: Arlen controls the density and force of smoke in the area.
  • Verbrennung: Controls the heat and causticity of smoke he generates. There is actually one particular smoke he can only make when having Verbrennung active, namely, volcanic smoke.

• Skills: he might actually be calculating what he says to get people angry or offended enough to go at him.
  • Westlau is actually quite street-savvy, it helps he was involved with "some unsavory fellows" before his Academy days.
  • Arlen is a skilled brawler, and basically uses whatever he can to win in a fight "on the street, they're out ta kill you."

You know, 'solar eclipse mark' is already the mark for Light.

Not what I was referring to. I was not referring to the mark of a Magic Type.

Ye-es, but the Light sign is of a solar eclipse. It's a moon covering a sun. Hard to get more solar ecliptic than that. What I'm saying is, the symbol of a solar eclipse in this universe has already been taken. It's like saying that someone has a symbol of a pyramid with an eye, and expecting everyone else to go 'ah yes eye-pyramid guy' instead of 'illuminati guy.'

And? Just because its a symbol of a magic type doesn't mean it can't be used alternatively / appropriated and used for something rather more sinister.

OK but I am just saying that everyone in universe should be thinking 'Oh that guy who uses a modified Light symbol' or something because in that universe the Light symbol is a widespread idea. People should still be thinking 'He's using a Light symbol' rather than 'He's using a solar eclipse symbol' because it would be a cultural assumption that a solar eclipse means Light because that is the most heavily-associated idea with that picture.

Like using a swastika to mean something besides "I'm a nazi".

@Karrin Blue, yeah, alright, I'll set them up together. Thank you for telling me.

@Nickthe Swing, the whole gas power is a bit strong. Gas is extremely vague, and in theory could encompass any form of matter. And he could just fill a room with mustard gas to kill a billion people. As for the lackeys, I don't mind players creating NP Cs, unless the NP Cs are directly aiding the character. Nerf the powers, and either get rid of or sell me on the lackeys, and you're accepted.

That said, on the subject of the solar eclipse mark, I don't think it would be terribly inappropriate for it to be used. Mages aren't very common, and they're split into 60 elements. So it's very conceivable that someone wouldn't be familiar with all the symbols. They usually figure out the element by checking one of many books on the subject, or they can Google it these days. And we've seen that symbols can have multiple variants, as well. We have two iron-element types with somewhat different symbols, I believe.

Alright, I added a restriction to his power.

Maybe just list two or three he can make for now? And how much can he make at a time, and how long does he need to fill a room? Also, you mention three lackeys he has in his personality section. Please, tell me about them.

I made it so he could only make 3 distinctly deadly gasses. Due to his low ability to make a lot of them, it'd take 2 hours to fill a room.

His three underlings are Lenny (Fat Bastard, creates many cunning plans that cannot fail, thinks he's far cleverer than he is), Derek (muscular brute who might have something more than admiration for Arlen), and Cal (skinny, kinda short guy, looks kinda cutesy...but is actually incredibly malicious).

I think that those are deadly even in not-room-filling amounts though? Especially since his powers would basically let him make someone breathe them in concentrated.

@Karrin Blue, while I appreciate the thought, it's not necessary for you to help. Unless you wish to be co-GM.

@Nickthe Swing, that said, those are some pretty deadly attacks! How about he can only fire the more deadly ones in kinda bolts for now, and they dissipate pretty fast? As for the lackeys, I really, really don't like to flat-out say no to players...But I'm gonna have to say no. Don't get me wrong, I really like it when players make their own NP Cs. But if Ilet one person make NP Cs that are there to directly help their character, I have to let everyone do that. Maybe you can acquire some minions later, but for a starting character, I'm gonna have to say no.

Well, I'd certainly be willing to try my hand at co-G Ming!

Okay, don't know how I missed the beginning of play. How hard will it be to catch up.

Alright, accepted, though his element is 'Smoke', not gas. So he should probably only be able to control irritants or vapors resulting from combustibles. Gas is extremely broad. Otherwise, accepted.

• Name: Straza
• Gender: Female
• Age: 17
• Species: Demon - Succubus
• Appearance: Gimme life!◊
• History: Straza is the granddaughter of one of the Grand Dukes of Hell, and she kind of hates it. The noble life really sucks, especially in the underworld where politics is literally everything. You'd think for a species that spend so much time doing literally whatever they want, they'd be able to go with the flow a little bit more. But Straza's life has basically been planned out for her, to a point where she couldn't take it anymore. Every women in her family is born a succubus, and everything that entails, but generally she doesn't gel with the whole thing. She's always getting told how she represents not just her family, but all of Hell. Evil, torture, possession, murder, that's all she's allowed to do. She never has time for fun. Luckily, it's extremely easy to get Earth stuff into Hell, if you've got cash. So as soon as Straza was able to take a minimum wage job, specifically torturing, she was able to buy more and more stuff from Earth, but it was always a few years behind the current times. She would always buy clothes, music, tv, video games, and other things that tickled her fancy while she was surfing the Underworld Internet (our internet isn't even a fraction as bad, trust me). Pretty soon, she started to dream of the idea of becoming a famous rapper, musician and fashion icon. She'd rather just do her, and ultimately that means leaving Hell so she can get into fashion and music like she dreams of. It's extremely difficult to get a demon, especially a succubus admitted into any magical school on Earth. The paperwork is miles high, literally, there is a warehouse just for Straza's files and papers.
• Abilities:
  • As a succubus, she can slowly suck out the life force of others through romantic contact. It doesn't have to be explicit, it can also be from cuddling. But she doesn't have to do it, only if she chooses to. She has to do this, probably once a week or so, or she'll get really sick and eventually die. She's pretty much timed it down exactly so she knows just how much to take so she doesn't kill the person she's with, and they get the equivalent of a bad flu for a few days.
  • She can shapeshift her appearance to look like the ideal image to anyone who is looking at her. She almost never does this though.
  • She is immune to heat and fire.
  • She can grow wings to fly with.
  • The ability she is actually proud of, she can place curses and hexes on people, places and objects through her rapping. These can be things like bad luck, getting sick, physical defects, drawing minor disasters to areas, attracting monsters and animals. She can only have one curse active at a time, if she does a new one, the old one goes away. A curse can also be removed by making her happy.
• Skills:
  • Inner knowledge of Demonology, curses, hexes and all manner of dark arts.
  • Fluent in Latin and Esperanto
  • Tight-ass flow
  • Lyrabolical Genius
  • Dance moves on fleek
  • Swagged out everyday
  • Booty game too strong

She's pretty scantily clad, but I suppose it makes sense, given that she's a succubus. Accepted.

• History: Maion is the granddaughter of a famous Archangel who descended to the Earth to learn the plight of mortals, however, her grandfather decided to keep her mostly safe by sending her to study at this very special school.
• Abilities:
  • Maion is able to fly as long as her wings are not bound.
  • She can emit strong light, focusing it both as a weak laser-pointer or disperse it to light up an area.
  • As an angel Maison is capable of smiting people, in her case with a lighting bolt.
  • She is immune to the elements, unable to be harmed by neither heat or cold.
• Skills:
  • Fluent in English, Latin and Hebrew
  • Is a great singer
  • Is a diligent student
