Well, Yami need to reunite with his sister, and Noelle needs to react to Asta being alive after all, so hopefully we'll focus on one or the other next chapter.
I sometimes wonder if I don't like Black Clover that much(I'm casual reader of it without strong feelings on it what so ever. It doesnt annoy me because it isn't that bad, but it doesn't awe me either) because I'm too old for it, but I kinda feel like shonen manga in general have more tension than Black Clover had which is lot of "And villain gets beaten rather easily after some minor being hyped up without you really fearing for heroes". So it can't be just age thing right? Right? I'm not becoming too old and cynical? D:

It doesn't help that unlike other Shonen works like Naruto and Bleach, Black Clover iirc hasn't had any major characters on the heroes' side kicking the bucket. Heck, even One Piece had a few major character deaths (and not just in flashbacks) occur at a major turning point in the story.
Even the one time it did seem like that was going to happen was quickly undone. Though it is amusing to consider that everything would have been better off if it had not been undone.

Disgusted, but not surprisedEh, death isn't really necessary for raising stakes and tension. A good chunk of the Elf Reincarnation arc had great tension without killing anyone off.
The Elf Reincarnation arc was the one with the big fakeout death however. Julius' supposed death made it seem like the stakes were being raised. But then he came back.
That said, considering where the story went after that point, I don't feel bad about that fakeout.
Disgusted, but not surprisedEven with that, there's still the consequence of Julius being aged into a younger form and mostly being out of the action until the Lucius twist.
The tension with the Elf Reincarnation arc mostly came from seeing a bunch of the characters suddenly overcome by bodily possession and being turned against their allies. That was some good stuff. That had me really on edge flipping through the chapters to plow through it.
Death *could* raise the stakes, but it's not necessary.
I completely agree with you, since the Elf reincarnation arc is one of my favourite and one of the reasons in general why I have stuck with this series to this day. There was some great character developement, that made me care a lot more for a number of characters, which made ma appreciate more their prior and latter contributions to the story. Really, if I had a irl friend with whom I could have discussed things as the series was progressing (the same way I had for My Hero), it would have raised in my rankings and maybe even become one of my favourites (in, like, the top 20, or something like that).
While character death is a very strong tool in story writing, for developing tension, character's motivations, drama and so on; I think that judging series solely by how much characters can die is a minimalistic way of looking at them, similar to how some people only care about how attractive the waifus and/or the husbandos are, and how they can ship them, sometimes not even caring about their actual personalities (I wouldn't call it wrong to enjoy something in those ways, only simplistic; and, like, huh, missing the forest for the trees).
In my case, a little before Black Clover left the magazine, I weekly was looking forward more for it than Jujutsu Kaisen, since despite the latter having a lot more tragedy and character death, I cared more abouth the characters in this series and how twhy would deal with this final threath (I had even started to like Asta more, despite him not really clicking for me for most of teh series).
Is Black Clover really that good?
