Yu Yu hakusho

Perhaps one of my favorite anime of all time, Yuyu Hakusho is a much beloved shonen anime in the West and even today still holds up very well. It's also notable for its rather great dub(which many argue surpasses the original) and being from the same dude that did Hunter X Hunter so you know it's fun. I've been watching it a lot these past few weeks and it's just fantastic, especially once T. Bros show up. Though I think my favorite arc is the Sensui one since the territories thing was pretty cool and the doctor fight is one of my favorites so far. The Karama/freckles guy one was cool too for being more Hx H-esque although it ended pretty lame.

I noticed a few things I missed the first time around too:

• Um Shu, cool as he is, is kind of racist? The dub completely avoids this by making him a drunk Aussie dude who is just stereotypical, but considering the American working class theme for his team + the mohawk/braids/height/facepaint I think he's supposed to be a Native American. You can see why him being a drunken master would be kind of well, yeah.
• Saikyo is really really really suave and cool. He's also a Complete Monster.
• Some fights have absolutely insane animation. Very dynamic and fluid. But really the show has some good general direction in animation, save for the reuse shows and still frame abuse prevalent in anime from its time., as well as some serious Off-Model in early episodes(hiei looks flat out silly in his first appearance).
• Dub Yusuke is seriously one of the most entertaining heroes in anime ever. So many good lines.
• Shu vs Yusuke is so manly it's ridiculous.
